Chapter 100Meccan11 Verses

Verse 1

وَٱلْعَـٰدِيَـٰتِwal-ʿādiyātiBy the racers
ضَبْحًۭاḍabḥanpanting

Translation

By the racers panting

Verse 2

فَٱلْمُورِيَـٰتِfal-mūriyātiAnd the producers of sparks
قَدْحًۭاqadḥanstriking

Translation

And the producers of sparks striking

Verse 3

فَٱلْمُغِيرَٰتِfal-mughīrātiAnd the chargers
صُبْحًۭاṣub'ḥan(at) dawn

Translation

And the chargers (at) dawn

Verse 4

فَأَثَرْنَfa-atharnaThen raise
بِهِۦbihithereby
نَقْعًۭاnaqʿandust

Translation

Then raise thereby dust

Verse 5

فَوَسَطْنَfawasaṭnaThen penetrate (in the) center
بِهِۦbihithereby
جَمْعًاjamʿancollectively

Translation

Then penetrate (in the) center thereby collectively

Verse 6

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insānamankind
لِرَبِّهِۦlirabbihito his Lord
لَكَنُودٌۭlakanūdun(is) surely ungrateful

Translation

Indeed mankind to his Lord (is) surely ungrateful

Verse 7

وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuAnd indeed, he
عَلَىٰʿalāon
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَشَهِيدٌۭlashahīdunsurely (is) a witness

Translation

And indeed, he on that surely (is) a witness

Verse 8

وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuAnd indeed he
لِحُبِّliḥubbiin (the) love
ٱلْخَيْرِl-khayri(of) wealth
لَشَدِيدٌlashadīdun(is) surely intense

Translation

And indeed he in (the) love (of) wealth (is) surely intense

Verse 9

۞ أَفَلَاafalāBut does not
يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuhe know
إِذَاidhāwhen
بُعْثِرَbuʿ'thirawill be scattered
مَاmāwhat
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلْقُبُورِl-qubūrithe graves

Translation

But does not he know when will be scattered what (is) in the graves

Verse 10

وَحُصِّلَwaḥuṣṣilaAnd is made apparent
مَاmāwhat
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلصُّدُورِl-ṣudūrithe breasts

Translation

And is made apparent what (is) in the breasts

Verse 11

إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبَّهُمrabbahumtheir Lord
بِهِمْbihimabout them
يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhinthat Day
لَّخَبِيرٌۢlakhabīrun(is) surely All-Aware

Translation

Indeed their Lord about them that Day (is) surely All-Aware
