The Small kindnesses

Chapter 107Meccan7 Verses

Verse 1

أَرَءَيْتَara-aytaHave you seen
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe one who
يُكَذِّبُyukadhibudenies
بِٱلدِّينِbil-dīnithe Judgment

Translation

Have you seen the one who denies the Judgment

Verse 2

فَذَٰلِكَfadhālikaThen that
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the one who
يَدُعُّyaduʿʿurepulses
ٱلْيَتِيمَl-yatīmathe orphan

Translation

Then that (is) the one who repulses the orphan

Verse 3

وَلَاwalāAnd (does) not
يَحُضُّyaḥuḍḍufeel the urge
عَلَىٰʿalāto
طَعَامِṭaʿāmifeed
ٱلْمِسْكِينِl-mis'kīnithe poor

Translation

And (does) not feel the urge to feed the poor

Verse 4

فَوَيْلٌۭfawaylunSo woe
لِّلْمُصَلِّينَlil'muṣallīnato those who pray

Translation

So woe to those who pray

Verse 5

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
هُمْhum[they]
عَنʿanabout
صَلَاتِهِمْṣalātihimtheir prayers
سَاهُونَsāhūna(are) neglectful

Translation

Those who [they] about their prayers (are) neglectful

Verse 6

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
هُمْhum[they]
يُرَآءُونَyurāūnamake show

Translation

Those who [they] make show

Verse 7

وَيَمْنَعُونَwayamnaʿūnaAnd they deny
ٱلْمَاعُونَl-māʿūna[the] small kindnesses

Translation

And they deny [the] small kindnesses
