The Fig

Chapter 95Meccan8 Verses

Verse 1

وَٱلتِّينِwal-tīniBy the fig
وَٱلزَّيْتُونِwal-zaytūniand the olive

Translation

By the fig and the olive

Verse 2

وَطُورِwaṭūriAnd (the) Mount
سِينِينَsīnīnaSinai

Translation

And (the) Mount Sinai

Verse 3

وَهَـٰذَاwahādhāAnd this
ٱلْبَلَدِl-baladi[the] city
ٱلْأَمِينِl-amīni[the] secure

Translation

And this [the] city [the] secure

Verse 4

لَقَدْlaqadIndeed
خَلَقْنَاkhalaqnāWe created
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insānaman
فِىٓfīin
أَحْسَنِaḥsani(the) best
تَقْوِيمٍۢtaqwīminmould

Translation

Indeed We created man in (the) best mould

Verse 5

ثُمَّthummaThen
رَدَدْنَـٰهُradadnāhuWe returned him
أَسْفَلَasfala(to the) lowest
سَـٰفِلِينَsāfilīna(of the) low

Translation

Then We returned him (to the) lowest (of the) low

Verse 6

إِلَّاillāExcept
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
وَعَمِلُوا۟waʿamilūand do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deeds
فَلَهُمْfalahumthen for them
أَجْرٌajrun(is a) reward
غَيْرُghayrunever
مَمْنُونٍۢmamnūninending

Translation

Except those who believe and do righteous deeds then for them (is a) reward never ending

Verse 7

فَمَاfamāThen what
يُكَذِّبُكَyukadhibukacauses you to deny
بَعْدُbaʿduafter (this)
بِٱلدِّينِbil-dīnithe judgment

Translation

Then what causes you to deny after (this) the judgment

Verse 8

أَلَيْسَalaysaIs not
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
بِأَحْكَمِbi-aḥkami(the) Most Just
ٱلْحَـٰكِمِينَl-ḥākimīna(of) the Judges

Translation

Is not Allah (the) Most Just (of) the Judges
