Chapter 10Meccan109 Verses

Verse 1

الٓر ۚalif-lam-raAlif Lam Ra
تِلْكَtil'kaThese
ءَايَـٰتُāyātu(are the) verses
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
ٱلْحَكِيمِl-ḥakīmithe wise

Translation

Alif Lam Ra These (are the) verses (of) the Book the wise

Verse 2

أَكَانَakānaIs it
لِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the mankind
عَجَبًاʿajabana wonder
أَنْanthat
أَوْحَيْنَآawḥaynāWe revealed
إِلَىٰilāto
رَجُلٍۢrajulina man
مِّنْهُمْmin'humfrom (among) them
أَنْanthat
أَنذِرِandhiriWarn
ٱلنَّاسَl-nāsathe mankind
وَبَشِّرِwabashiriand give glad tidings
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(to) those who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanūbelieve
أَنَّannathat
لَهُمْlahumfor them
قَدَمَqadama(will be) a respectable position
صِدْقٍṣid'qin(will be) a respectable position
عِندَʿindanear
رَبِّهِمْ ۗrabbihimtheir Lord
قَالَqālaSaid
ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَl-kāfirūnathe disbelievers
إِنَّinnaIndeed
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
لَسَـٰحِرٌۭlasāḥirun(is) surely a magician
مُّبِينٌmubīnunobvious

Translation

Is it for the mankind a wonder that We revealed to a man from (among) them that Warn the mankind and give glad tidings (to) those who believe that for them (will be) a respectable position (will be) a respectable position near their Lord Said the disbelievers Indeed this (is) surely a magician obvious

Verse 3

إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبَّكُمُrabbakumuyour Lord
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allah
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One Who
خَلَقَkhalaqacreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earth
فِىfīin
سِتَّةِsittatisix
أَيَّامٍۢayyāminperiods
ثُمَّthummathen
ٱسْتَوَىٰis'tawāHe established
عَلَىʿalāon
ٱلْعَرْشِ ۖl-ʿarshithe Throne
يُدَبِّرُyudabbirudisposing
ٱلْأَمْرَ ۖl-amrathe affairs
مَاmāNot
مِنmin(is) any intercessor
شَفِيعٍshafīʿin(is) any intercessor
إِلَّاillāexcept
مِنۢminafter
بَعْدِbaʿdiafter
إِذْنِهِۦ ۚidh'nihiHis permission
ذَٰلِكُمُdhālikumuThat
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allah
رَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lord
فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚfa-uʿ'budūhuso worship Him
أَفَلَاafalāThen will not
تَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnayou remember

Translation

Indeed your Lord (is) Allah the One Who created the heavens and the earth in six periods then He established on the Throne disposing the affairs Not (is) any intercessor (is) any intercessor except after after His permission That (is) Allah your Lord so worship Him Then will not you remember

Verse 4

إِلَيْهِilayhiTo Him
مَرْجِعُكُمْmarjiʿukum(will be) your return
جَمِيعًۭا ۖjamīʿan[all]
وَعْدَwaʿdaPromise
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
حَقًّا ۚḥaqqan(is) true
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
يَبْدَؤُا۟yabda-uoriginates
ٱلْخَلْقَl-khalqathe creation
ثُمَّthummathen
يُعِيدُهُۥyuʿīduhuHe repeats it
لِيَجْزِىَliyajziyathat He may reward
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieved
وَعَمِلُوا۟waʿamilūand did
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥātithe good deeds
بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۚbil-qis'ṭiin justice
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaBut those who
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieved
لَهُمْlahumfor them
شَرَابٌۭsharābun(will be) a drink
مِّنْminof
حَمِيمٍۢḥamīminboiling fluids
وَعَذَابٌwaʿadhābunand a punishment
أَلِيمٌۢalīmunpainful
بِمَاbimābecause
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)
يَكْفُرُونَyakfurūnadisbelieve

Translation

To Him (will be) your return [all] Promise (of) Allah (is) true Indeed, He originates the creation then He repeats it that He may reward those who believed and did the good deeds in justice But those who disbelieved for them (will be) a drink of boiling fluids and a punishment painful because they used (to) disbelieve

Verse 5

هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
جَعَلَjaʿalamade
ٱلشَّمْسَl-shamsathe sun
ضِيَآءًۭḍiyāana shining light
وَٱلْقَمَرَwal-qamaraand the moon
نُورًۭاnūrana reflected light
وَقَدَّرَهُۥwaqaddarahuand determined for it
مَنَازِلَmanāzilaphases
لِتَعْلَمُوا۟litaʿlamūthat you may know
عَدَدَʿadada(the) number
ٱلسِّنِينَl-sinīna(of) the years
وَٱلْحِسَابَ ۚwal-ḥisābaand the count (of time)
مَاmāNot
خَلَقَkhalaqacreated
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
إِلَّاillāexcept
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚbil-ḥaqiin truth
يُفَصِّلُyufaṣṣiluHe explains
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِl-āyātithe Signs
لِقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūna(who) know

Translation

He (is) the One Who made the sun a shining light and the moon a reflected light and determined for it phases that you may know (the) number (of) the years and the count (of time) Not created Allah that except in truth He explains the Signs for a people (who) know

Verse 6

إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ٱخْتِلَـٰفِikh'tilāfi(the) alternation
ٱلَّيْلِal-layli(of) the night
وَٱلنَّهَارِwal-nahāriand the day
وَمَاwamāand what
خَلَقَkhalaqa(has been) created
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allah
فِىfīin
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢlaāyātin(are) Signs
لِّقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يَتَّقُونَyattaqūnawho are God conscious

Translation

Indeed in (the) alternation (of) the night and the day and what (has been) created (by) Allah in the heavens and the earth (are) Signs for a people who are God conscious

Verse 7

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
لَاlā(do) not
يَرْجُونَyarjūnaexpect
لِقَآءَنَاliqāanāthe meeting with Us
وَرَضُوا۟waraḍūand are pleased
بِٱلْحَيَوٰةِbil-ḥayatiwith the life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
وَٱطْمَأَنُّوا۟wa-iṭ'ma-annūand feel satisfied
بِهَاbihāwith it
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those
هُمْhumthey
عَنْʿan(are) of
ءَايَـٰتِنَاāyātināOur Signs
غَـٰفِلُونَghāfilūnaheedless

Translation

Indeed those who (do) not expect the meeting with Us and are pleased with the life (of) the world and feel satisfied with it and those they (are) of Our Signs heedless

Verse 8

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
مَأْوَىٰهُمُmawāhumutheir abode
ٱلنَّارُl-nāru(will be) the Fire
بِمَاbimāfor what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)
يَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearn

Translation

Those their abode (will be) the Fire for what they used (to) earn

Verse 9

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieved
وَعَمِلُوا۟waʿamilūand did
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥātigood deeds
يَهْدِيهِمْyahdīhim(will) guide them
رَبُّهُمrabbuhumtheir Lord
بِإِيمَـٰنِهِمْ ۖbiīmānihimby their faith
تَجْرِىtajrīWill flow
مِنminfrom
تَحْتِهِمُtaḥtihimuunderneath them
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُl-anhāruthe rivers
فِىfīin
جَنَّـٰتِjannātiGardens
ٱلنَّعِيمِl-naʿīmi(of) Delight

Translation

Indeed those who believed and did good deeds (will) guide them their Lord by their faith Will flow from underneath them the rivers in Gardens (of) Delight

Verse 10

دَعْوَىٰهُمْdaʿwāhumTheir prayer
فِيهَاfīhātherein
سُبْحَـٰنَكَsub'ḥānaka(will be), "Glory be to You
ٱللَّهُمَّl-lahumaO Allah
وَتَحِيَّتُهُمْwataḥiyyatuhumAnd their greeting
فِيهَاfīhātherein (will be)
سَلَـٰمٌۭ ۚsalāmunPeace
وَءَاخِرُwaākhiruAnd the last
دَعْوَىٰهُمْdaʿwāhum(of) their call
أَنِani(will be) [that]
ٱلْحَمْدُl-ḥamduAll the Praise be
لِلَّهِlillahito Allah
رَبِّrabbiLord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

Their prayer therein (will be), "Glory be to You O Allah And their greeting therein (will be) Peace And the last (of) their call (will be) [that] All the Praise be to Allah Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 11

۞ وَلَوْwalawAnd if
يُعَجِّلُyuʿajjiluhastens
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allah
لِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the mankind
ٱلشَّرَّl-sharathe evil
ٱسْتِعْجَالَهُمis'tiʿ'jālahum(as) He hastens for them
بِٱلْخَيْرِbil-khayrithe good
لَقُضِىَlaquḍiyasurely, would have been decreed
إِلَيْهِمْilayhimfor them
أَجَلُهُمْ ۖajaluhumtheir term
فَنَذَرُfanadharuBut We leave
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
لَاlā(do) not
يَرْجُونَyarjūnaexpect
لِقَآءَنَاliqāanāthe meeting with Us
فِىfīin
طُغْيَـٰنِهِمْṭugh'yānihimtheir transgression
يَعْمَهُونَyaʿmahūnawandering blindly

Translation

And if hastens (by) Allah for the mankind the evil (as) He hastens for them the good surely, would have been decreed for them their term But We leave those who (do) not expect the meeting with Us in their transgression wandering blindly

Verse 12

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
مَسَّmassatouches
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insānathe man
ٱلضُّرُّl-ḍuruthe affliction
دَعَانَاdaʿānāhe calls Us
لِجَنۢبِهِۦٓlijanbihi(lying) on his side
أَوْawor
قَاعِدًاqāʿidansitting
أَوْawor
قَآئِمًۭاqāimanstanding
فَلَمَّاfalammāBut when
كَشَفْنَاkashafnāWe remove
عَنْهُʿanhufrom him
ضُرَّهُۥḍurrahuhis affliction
مَرَّmarrahe passes on
كَأَنka-anas if he
لَّمْlam(had) not
يَدْعُنَآyadʿunācalled Us
إِلَىٰilāfor
ضُرٍّۢḍurrin(the) affliction
مَّسَّهُۥ ۚmassahu(that) touched him
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
زُيِّنَzuyyina(it) is made fair seeming
لِلْمُسْرِفِينَlil'mus'rifīnato the extravagant
مَاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado

Translation

And when touches the man the affliction he calls Us (lying) on his side or sitting or standing But when We remove from him his affliction he passes on as if he (had) not called Us for (the) affliction (that) touched him Thus (it) is made fair seeming to the extravagant what they used (to) do

Verse 13

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
أَهْلَكْنَاahlaknāWe destroyed
ٱلْقُرُونَl-qurūnathe generations
مِنminbefore you
قَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore you
لَمَّاlammāwhen
ظَلَمُوا۟ ۙẓalamūthey wronged
وَجَآءَتْهُمْwajāathumand came to them
رُسُلُهُمrusuluhumtheir Messengers
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayinātiwith clear proofs
وَمَاwamābut not
كَانُوا۟kānūthey were
لِيُؤْمِنُوا۟ ۚliyu'minūto believe
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
نَجْزِىnajzīWe recompense
ٱلْقَوْمَl-qawmathe people
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīna(who are) criminals

Translation

And verily We destroyed the generations before you before you when they wronged and came to them their Messengers with clear proofs but not they were to believe Thus We recompense the people (who are) criminals

Verse 14

ثُمَّthummaThen
جَعَلْنَـٰكُمْjaʿalnākumWe made you
خَلَـٰٓئِفَkhalāifasuccessors
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
مِنۢminafter them
بَعْدِهِمْbaʿdihimafter them
لِنَنظُرَlinanẓuraso that We may see
كَيْفَkayfahow
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do

Translation

Then We made you successors in the earth after them after them so that We may see how you do

Verse 15

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
تُتْلَىٰtut'lāare recited
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto them
ءَايَاتُنَاāyātunāOur Verses
بَيِّنَـٰتٍۢ ۙbayyinātin(as) clear proofs
قَالَqālasaid
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
لَاlā(do) not
يَرْجُونَyarjūnahope
لِقَآءَنَاliqāanā(for the) meeting (with) Us
ٱئْتِi'tiBring us
بِقُرْءَانٍbiqur'ānina Quran
غَيْرِghayriother (than)
هَـٰذَآhādhāthis
أَوْawor
بَدِّلْهُ ۚbaddil'huchange it
قُلْqulSay
مَاmāNot
يَكُونُyakūnu(it) is
لِىٓlīfor me
أَنْanthat
أُبَدِّلَهُۥubaddilahuI change it
مِنminof
تِلْقَآئِtil'qāimy own accord
نَفْسِىٓ ۖnafsīmy own accord
إِنْinNot
أَتَّبِعُattabiʿuI follow
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَاmāwhat
يُوحَىٰٓyūḥāis revealed
إِلَىَّ ۖilayyato me
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أَخَافُakhāfu[I] fear
إِنْinif
عَصَيْتُʿaṣaytuI were to disobey
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
عَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishment
يَوْمٍyawmin(of) a Day
عَظِيمٍۢʿaẓīminGreat

Translation

And when are recited to them Our Verses (as) clear proofs said those who (do) not hope (for the) meeting (with) Us Bring us a Quran other (than) this or change it Say Not (it) is for me that I change it of my own accord my own accord Not I follow except what is revealed to me Indeed, I [I] fear if I were to disobey my Lord (the) punishment (of) a Day Great

Verse 16

قُلqulSay
لَّوْlawIf
شَآءَshāa(had) willed
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
مَاmānot
تَلَوْتُهُۥtalawtuhuI (would) have recited it
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto you
وَلَآwalāand not
أَدْرَىٰكُمadrākumHe (would) have made it known to you
بِهِۦ ۖbihiHe (would) have made it known to you
فَقَدْfaqadVerily
لَبِثْتُlabith'tuI have stayed
فِيكُمْfīkumamong you
عُمُرًۭاʿumurana lifetime
مِّنminbefore it
قَبْلِهِۦٓ ۚqablihibefore it
أَفَلَاafalāThen will not
تَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnayou use reason

Translation

Say If (had) willed Allah not I (would) have recited it to you and not He (would) have made it known to you He (would) have made it known to you Verily I have stayed among you a lifetime before it before it Then will not you use reason

Verse 17

فَمَنْfamanSo who
أَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more wrong
مِمَّنِmimmanithan he who
ٱفْتَرَىٰif'tarāinvents
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
كَذِبًاkadhibana lie
أَوْawor
كَذَّبَkadhabadenies
بِـَٔايَـٰتِهِۦٓ ۚbiāyātihiHis Signs
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed
لَاlānot
يُفْلِحُyuf'liḥuwill succeed
ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَl-muj'rimūnathe criminals

Translation

So who (is) more wrong than he who invents against Allah a lie or denies His Signs Indeed not will succeed the criminals

Verse 18

وَيَعْبُدُونَwayaʿbudūnaAnd they worship
مِنminfrom
دُونِdūniother than
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
مَاmāthat (which)
لَاlā(does) not
يَضُرُّهُمْyaḍurruhumharm them
وَلَاwalāand not
يَنفَعُهُمْyanfaʿuhumbenefit them
وَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaand they say
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāiThese
شُفَعَـٰٓؤُنَاshufaʿāunā(are) our intercessors
عِندَʿindawith
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllah
قُلْqulSay
أَتُنَبِّـُٔونَatunabbiūnaDo you inform
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
بِمَاbimāof what
لَاlānot
يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuhe knows
فِىfīin
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَلَاwalāand not
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚl-arḍithe earth
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥsub'ḥānahuGlorified is He
وَتَعَـٰلَىٰwataʿālāand Exalted
عَمَّاʿammāabove what
يُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnathey associate (with Him)

Translation

And they worship from other than Allah that (which) (does) not harm them and not benefit them and they say These (are) our intercessors with Allah Say Do you inform Allah of what not he knows in the heavens and not in the earth Glorified is He and Exalted above what they associate (with Him)

Verse 19

وَمَاwamāAnd not
كَانَkānawas
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsuthe mankind
إِلَّآillābut
أُمَّةًۭummatana community
وَٰحِدَةًۭwāḥidatanone
فَٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ ۚfa-ikh'talafūthen they differed
وَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd had (it) not been
كَلِمَةٌۭkalimatuna word
سَبَقَتْsabaqat(that) preceded
مِنminfrom
رَّبِّكَrabbikayour Lord
لَقُضِىَlaquḍiyasurely, it (would) have been judged
بَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween them
فِيمَاfīmāconcerning what
فِيهِfīhi[therein]
يَخْتَلِفُونَyakhtalifūnathey differ

Translation

And not was the mankind but a community one then they differed And had (it) not been a word (that) preceded from your Lord surely, it (would) have been judged between them concerning what [therein] they differ

Verse 20

وَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they say
لَوْلَآlawlāWhy not
أُنزِلَunzilais sent down
عَلَيْهِʿalayhito him
ءَايَةٌۭāyatuna Sign
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّهِۦ ۖrabbihihis Lord
فَقُلْfaqulSo say
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
ٱلْغَيْبُl-ghaybuthe unseen
لِلَّهِlillahi(is) for Allah
فَٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟fa-intaẓirūso wait
إِنِّىinnīindeed, I am
مَعَكُمmaʿakumwith you
مِّنَminaamong
ٱلْمُنتَظِرِينَl-muntaẓirīnathe ones who wait

Translation

And they say Why not is sent down to him a Sign from his Lord So say Only the unseen (is) for Allah so wait indeed, I am with you among the ones who wait

Verse 21

وَإِذَآwa-idhāAnd when
أَذَقْنَاadhaqnāWe let [the] mankind taste
ٱلنَّاسَl-nāsaWe let [the] mankind taste
رَحْمَةًۭraḥmatanmercy
مِّنۢminafter
بَعْدِbaʿdiafter
ضَرَّآءَḍarrāaadversity
مَسَّتْهُمْmassathumhas touched them
إِذَاidhābehold
لَهُمlahumThey have
مَّكْرٌۭmakruna plot
فِىٓfīagainst
ءَايَاتِنَا ۚāyātināOur Verses
قُلِquliSay
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
أَسْرَعُasraʿu(is) more swift
مَكْرًا ۚmakran(in) planning
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رُسُلَنَاrusulanāOur Messengers
يَكْتُبُونَyaktubūnawrite down
مَاmāwhat
تَمْكُرُونَtamkurūnayou plot

Translation

And when We let [the] mankind taste We let [the] mankind taste mercy after after adversity has touched them behold They have a plot against Our Verses Say Allah (is) more swift (in) planning Indeed Our Messengers write down what you plot

Verse 22

هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
يُسَيِّرُكُمْyusayyirukumenables you to travel
فِىfīin
ٱلْبَرِّl-barithe land
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۖwal-baḥriand the sea
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāuntil
إِذَاidhāwhen
كُنتُمْkuntumyou are
فِىfīin
ٱلْفُلْكِl-ful'kithe ships
وَجَرَيْنَwajaraynaand they sail
بِهِمbihimwith them
بِرِيحٍۢbirīḥinwith a wind
طَيِّبَةٍۢṭayyibatingood
وَفَرِحُوا۟wafariḥūand they rejoice
بِهَاbihātherein
جَآءَتْهَاjāathācomes to it
رِيحٌrīḥuna wind
عَاصِفٌۭʿāṣifunstormy
وَجَآءَهُمُwajāahumuand comes to them
ٱلْمَوْجُl-mawjuthe waves
مِنminfrom
كُلِّkullievery
مَكَانٍۢmakāninplace
وَظَنُّوٓا۟waẓannūand they assume
أَنَّهُمْannahumthat they
أُحِيطَuḥīṭaare surrounded
بِهِمْ ۙbihimwith them
دَعَوُا۟daʿawūThey call
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
مُخْلِصِينَmukh'liṣīnasincerely
لَهُlahuto Him
ٱلدِّينَl-dīna(in) the religion
لَئِنْla-in(saying), "If
أَنجَيْتَنَاanjaytanāYou save us
مِنْminfrom
هَـٰذِهِۦhādhihithis
لَنَكُونَنَّlanakūnannasurely we will be
مِنَminaamong
ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَl-shākirīnathe thankful

Translation

He (is) the One Who enables you to travel in the land and the sea until when you are in the ships and they sail with them with a wind good and they rejoice therein comes to it a wind stormy and comes to them the waves from every place and they assume that they are surrounded with them They call Allah sincerely to Him (in) the religion (saying), "If You save us from this surely we will be among the thankful

Verse 23

فَلَمَّآfalammāBut when
أَنجَىٰهُمْanjāhumHe saved them
إِذَاidhābehold
هُمْhumThey
يَبْغُونَyabghūnarebel
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
ٱلْحَقِّ ۗl-ḥaqi[the] right
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO mankind
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsuO mankind
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
بَغْيُكُمْbaghyukumyour rebellion
عَلَىٰٓʿalā(is) against
أَنفُسِكُم ۖanfusikumyourselves
مَّتَـٰعَmatāʿa(the) enjoyment
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayati(of) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖl-dun'yā(of) the world
ثُمَّthummaThen
إِلَيْنَاilaynāto Us
مَرْجِعُكُمْmarjiʿukum(is) your return
فَنُنَبِّئُكُمfanunabbi-ukumand We will inform you
بِمَاbimāof what
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used (to)
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado

Translation

But when He saved them behold They rebel in the earth without [the] right O mankind O mankind Only your rebellion (is) against yourselves (the) enjoyment (of) the life (of) the world Then to Us (is) your return and We will inform you of what you used (to) do

Verse 24

إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
مَثَلُmathalu(the) example
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayati(of) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
كَمَآءٍkamāin(is) like (the) water
أَنزَلْنَـٰهُanzalnāhuwhich We sent down
مِنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
فَٱخْتَلَطَfa-ikh'talaṭaso absorbs
بِهِۦbihi[with] it
نَبَاتُnabātu(the) plants
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍi(of) the earth
مِمَّاmimmāfrom which
يَأْكُلُyakulueat
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsuthe men
وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمُwal-anʿāmuand the cattle
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāuntil
إِذَآidhāwhen
أَخَذَتِakhadhatitakes
ٱلْأَرْضُl-arḍuthe earth
زُخْرُفَهَاzukh'rufahāits adornment
وَٱزَّيَّنَتْwa-izzayyanatand is beautified
وَظَنَّwaẓannaand think
أَهْلُهَآahluhāits people
أَنَّهُمْannahumthat they
قَـٰدِرُونَqādirūnahave the power
عَلَيْهَآʿalayhāover it
أَتَىٰهَآatāhācomes (to) it
أَمْرُنَاamrunāOur command
لَيْلًاlaylan(by) night
أَوْawor
نَهَارًۭاnahāran(by) day
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهَاfajaʿalnāhāand We make it
حَصِيدًۭاḥaṣīdana harvest clean-mown
كَأَنka-anas if
لَّمْlamnot
تَغْنَtaghnait had flourished
بِٱلْأَمْسِ ۚbil-amsiyesterday
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
نُفَصِّلُnufaṣṣiluWe explain
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِl-āyātithe Signs
لِقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يَتَفَكَّرُونَyatafakkarūnawho reflect

Translation

Only (the) example (of) the life (of) the world (is) like (the) water which We sent down from the sky so absorbs [with] it (the) plants (of) the earth from which eat the men and the cattle until when takes the earth its adornment and is beautified and think its people that they have the power over it comes (to) it Our command (by) night or (by) day and We make it a harvest clean-mown as if not it had flourished yesterday Thus We explain the Signs for a people who reflect

Verse 25

وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
يَدْعُوٓا۟yadʿūcalls
إِلَىٰilāto
دَارِdāri(the) Home
ٱلسَّلَـٰمِl-salāmi(of) the Peace
وَيَهْدِىwayahdīand guides
مَنmanwhom
يَشَآءُyashāuHe wills
إِلَىٰilāto
صِرَٰطٍۢṣirāṭin(the) straight path
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢmus'taqīmin(the) straight path

Translation

And Allah calls to (the) Home (of) the Peace and guides whom He wills to (the) straight path (the) straight path

Verse 26

۞ لِّلَّذِينَlilladhīnaFor those who
أَحْسَنُوا۟aḥsanūdo good
ٱلْحُسْنَىٰl-ḥus'nā(is) the best
وَزِيَادَةٌۭ ۖwaziyādatunand more
وَلَاwalāAnd not
يَرْهَقُyarhaqu(will) cover
وُجُوهَهُمْwujūhahumtheir faces
قَتَرٌۭqatarundust
وَلَاwalāand not
ذِلَّةٌ ۚdhillatunhumiliation
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(are the) companions
ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۖl-janati(of) Paradise
هُمْhumthey
فِيهَاfīhāin it
خَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūna(will) abide forever

Translation

For those who do good (is) the best and more And not (will) cover their faces dust and not humiliation Those (are the) companions (of) Paradise they in it (will) abide forever

Verse 27

وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those who
كَسَبُوا۟kasabūearned
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِl-sayiātithe evil deeds
جَزَآءُjazāu(the) recompense
سَيِّئَةٍۭsayyi-atin(of) an evil deed
بِمِثْلِهَاbimith'lihā(is) like it
وَتَرْهَقُهُمْwatarhaquhumand (will) cover them
ذِلَّةٌۭ ۖdhillatunhumiliation
مَّاmāThey will not have
لَهُمlahumThey will not have
مِّنَminafrom
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
مِنْminany
عَاصِمٍۢ ۖʿāṣimindefender
كَأَنَّمَآka-annamāAs if
أُغْشِيَتْugh'shiyathad been covered
وُجُوهُهُمْwujūhuhumtheir faces
قِطَعًۭاqiṭaʿan(with) pieces
مِّنَminafrom
ٱلَّيْلِal-laylithe darkness (of) night
مُظْلِمًا ۚmuẓ'limanthe darkness (of) night
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(are the) companions
ٱلنَّارِ ۖl-nāri(of) the Fire
هُمْhumthey
فِيهَاfīhāin it
خَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūna(will) abide forever

Translation

And those who earned the evil deeds (the) recompense (of) an evil deed (is) like it and (will) cover them humiliation They will not have They will not have from Allah any defender As if had been covered their faces (with) pieces from the darkness (of) night the darkness (of) night Those (are the) companions (of) the Fire they in it (will) abide forever

Verse 28

وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) Day
نَحْشُرُهُمْnaḥshuruhumWe will gather them
جَمِيعًۭاjamīʿanall together
ثُمَّthummathen
نَقُولُnaqūluWe will say
لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those who
أَشْرَكُوا۟ashrakūassociate partners (with Allah)
مَكَانَكُمْmakānakum(Remain in) your place
أَنتُمْantumyou
وَشُرَكَآؤُكُمْ ۚwashurakāukumand your partners
فَزَيَّلْنَاfazayyalnāThen We will separate
بَيْنَهُمْ ۖbaynahum[between] them
وَقَالَwaqālaand (will) say
شُرَكَآؤُهُمshurakāuhumtheir partners
مَّاmāNot
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used (to)
إِيَّانَاiyyānāworship us
تَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūnaworship us

Translation

And (the) Day We will gather them all together then We will say to those who associate partners (with Allah) (Remain in) your place you and your partners Then We will separate [between] them and (will) say their partners Not you used (to) worship us worship us

Verse 29

فَكَفَىٰfakafāSo sufficient
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahi(is) Allah
شَهِيدًۢاshahīdan(as) a witness
بَيْنَنَاbaynanābetween us
وَبَيْنَكُمْwabaynakumand between you
إِنinthat
كُنَّاkunnāwe were
عَنْʿanof
عِبَادَتِكُمْʿibādatikumyour worship
لَغَـٰفِلِينَlaghāfilīnacertainly unaware

Translation

So sufficient (is) Allah (as) a witness between us and between you that we were of your worship certainly unaware

Verse 30

هُنَالِكَhunālikaThere
تَبْلُوا۟tablūwill be put to trial
كُلُّkulluevery
نَفْسٍۢnafsinsoul
مَّآmā(for) what
أَسْلَفَتْ ۚaslafatit did previously
وَرُدُّوٓا۟waruddūand they will be returned
إِلَىilāto
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
مَوْلَىٰهُمُmawlāhumutheir Lord
ٱلْحَقِّ ۖl-ḥaqithe true
وَضَلَّwaḍallaand will be lost
عَنْهُمʿanhumfrom them
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)
يَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnainvent

Translation

There will be put to trial every soul (for) what it did previously and they will be returned to Allah their Lord the true and will be lost from them what they used (to) invent

Verse 31

قُلْqulSay
مَنmanWho
يَرْزُقُكُمyarzuqukumprovides for you
مِّنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
أَمَّنammanOr who
يَمْلِكُyamlikucontrols
ٱلسَّمْعَl-samʿathe hearing
وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَwal-abṣāraand the sight
وَمَنwamanAnd who
يُخْرِجُyukh'rijubrings out
ٱلْحَىَّl-ḥayathe living
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْمَيِّتِl-mayitithe dead
وَيُخْرِجُwayukh'rijuand brings forth
ٱلْمَيِّتَl-mayitathe dead
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْحَىِّl-ḥayithe living
وَمَنwamanAnd who
يُدَبِّرُyudabbirudisposes
ٱلْأَمْرَ ۚl-amrathe affairs
فَسَيَقُولُونَfasayaqūlūnaThen they will say
ٱللَّهُ ۚl-lahuAllah
فَقُلْfaqulThen say
أَفَلَاafalāThen will not
تَتَّقُونَtattaqūnayou fear (Him)

Translation

Say Who provides for you from the sky and the earth Or who controls the hearing and the sight And who brings out the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living And who disposes the affairs Then they will say Allah Then say Then will not you fear (Him)

Verse 32

فَذَٰلِكُمُfadhālikumuFor that
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allah
رَبُّكُمُrabbukumuyour Lord
ٱلْحَقُّ ۖl-ḥaquthe true
فَمَاذَاfamādhāSo what (can be)
بَعْدَbaʿdaafter
ٱلْحَقِّl-ḥaqithe truth
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلضَّلَـٰلُ ۖl-ḍalāluthe error
فَأَنَّىٰfa-annāSo how
تُصْرَفُونَtuṣ'rafūna(are) you turned away

Translation

For that (is) Allah your Lord the true So what (can be) after the truth except the error So how (are) you turned away

Verse 33

كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
حَقَّتْḥaqqat(is) proved true
كَلِمَتُkalimatu(the) Word
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
عَلَىʿalāupon
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
فَسَقُوٓا۟fasaqūdefiantly disobeyed
أَنَّهُمْannahumthat they
لَاlā(will) not
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve

Translation

Thus (is) proved true (the) Word (of) your Lord upon those who defiantly disobeyed that they (will) not believe

Verse 34

قُلْqulSay
هَلْhalIs (there)
مِنminof
شُرَكَآئِكُمshurakāikumyour partners
مَّنman(any) who
يَبْدَؤُا۟yabda-uoriginates
ٱلْخَلْقَl-khalqathe creation
ثُمَّthummathen
يُعِيدُهُۥ ۚyuʿīduhurepeats it
قُلِquliSay
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
يَبْدَؤُا۟yabda-uoriginates
ٱلْخَلْقَl-khalqathe creation
ثُمَّthummathen
يُعِيدُهُۥ ۖyuʿīduhurepeats it
فَأَنَّىٰfa-annāSo how
تُؤْفَكُونَtu'fakūnayou are deluded

Translation

Say Is (there) of your partners (any) who originates the creation then repeats it Say Allah originates the creation then repeats it So how you are deluded

Verse 35

قُلْqulSay
هَلْhalIs (there)
مِنminof
شُرَكَآئِكُمshurakāikumyour partners
مَّنman(any) who
يَهْدِىٓyahdīguides
إِلَىilāto
ٱلْحَقِّ ۚl-ḥaqithe truth
قُلِquliSay
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
يَهْدِىyahdīguides
لِلْحَقِّ ۗlil'ḥaqqito the truth
أَفَمَنafamanIs then (he) who
يَهْدِىٓyahdīguides
إِلَىilāto
ٱلْحَقِّl-ḥaqithe truth
أَحَقُّaḥaqqumore worthy
أَنanthat
يُتَّبَعَyuttabaʿahe should be followed
أَمَّنammanor (he) who
لَّاlā(does) not
يَهِدِّىٓyahiddīguide
إِلَّآillāunless
أَنan[that]
يُهْدَىٰ ۖyuh'dāhe is guided
فَمَاfamāThen what
لَكُمْlakum(is) for you
كَيْفَkayfahow
تَحْكُمُونَtaḥkumūnayou judge

Translation

Say Is (there) of your partners (any) who guides to the truth Say Allah guides to the truth Is then (he) who guides to the truth more worthy that he should be followed or (he) who (does) not guide unless [that] he is guided Then what (is) for you how you judge

Verse 36

وَمَاwamāAnd not
يَتَّبِعُyattabiʿufollow
أَكْثَرُهُمْaktharuhummost of them
إِلَّاillāexcept
ظَنًّا ۚẓannanassumption
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلظَّنَّl-ẓanathe assumption
لَاlā(does) not
يُغْنِىyugh'nīavail
مِنَminaagainst
ٱلْحَقِّl-ḥaqithe truth
شَيْـًٔا ۚshayananything
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
عَلِيمٌۢʿalīmun(is) All-Knower
بِمَاbimāof what
يَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnathey do

Translation

And not follow most of them except assumption Indeed the assumption (does) not avail against the truth anything Indeed Allah (is) All-Knower of what they do

Verse 37

وَمَاwamāAnd not
كَانَkānais
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
ٱلْقُرْءَانُl-qur'ānuthe Quran
أَنanthat
يُفْتَرَىٰyuf'tarā(it could be) produced
مِنminby
دُونِdūniother than Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahiother than Allah
وَلَـٰكِنwalākinbut
تَصْدِيقَtaṣdīqa(it is) a confirmation
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(of that) which
بَيْنَbayna(was) before it
يَدَيْهِyadayhi(was) before it
وَتَفْصِيلَwatafṣīlaand a detailed explanation
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
لَاlā(there is) no
رَيْبَraybadoubt
فِيهِfīhiin it
مِنminfrom
رَّبِّrabbi(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

And not is this the Quran that (it could be) produced by other than Allah other than Allah but (it is) a confirmation (of that) which (was) before it (was) before it and a detailed explanation (of) the Book (there is) no doubt in it from (the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 38

أَمْamOr
يَقُولُونَyaqūlūna(do) they say
ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ ۖif'tarāhuHe has invented it
قُلْqulSay
فَأْتُوا۟fatūThen bring
بِسُورَةٍۢbisūratina Surah
مِّثْلِهِۦmith'lihilike it
وَٱدْعُوا۟wa-id'ʿūand call
مَنِmaniwhoever
ٱسْتَطَعْتُمis'taṭaʿtumyou can
مِّنminbesides Allah
دُونِdūnibesides Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahibesides Allah
إِنinif
كُنتُمْkuntumyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful

Translation

Or (do) they say He has invented it Say Then bring a Surah like it and call whoever you can besides Allah besides Allah besides Allah if you are truthful

Verse 39

بَلْbalNay
كَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūthey denied
بِمَاbimāwhat
لَمْlamnot
يُحِيطُوا۟yuḥīṭūthey could encompass
بِعِلْمِهِۦbiʿil'mihi(of) its knowledge
وَلَمَّاwalammāand not
يَأْتِهِمْyatihimhas come (to) them
تَأْوِيلُهُۥ ۚtawīluhuits interpretation
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
كَذَّبَkadhabadenied
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose
مِنminbefore them
قَبْلِهِمْ ۖqablihimbefore them
فَٱنظُرْfa-unẓurthen see
كَيْفَkayfahow
كَانَkānawas
عَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) end
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīna(of) the wrongdoers

Translation

Nay they denied what not they could encompass (of) its knowledge and not has come (to) them its interpretation Thus denied those before them before them then see how was (the) end (of) the wrongdoers

Verse 40

وَمِنْهُمwamin'humAnd of them
مَّنman(is one) who
يُؤْمِنُyu'minubelieves
بِهِۦbihiin it
وَمِنْهُمwamin'humand of them
مَّنman(is one) who
لَّاlā(does) not
يُؤْمِنُyu'minubelieve
بِهِۦ ۚbihiin it
وَرَبُّكَwarabbukaAnd your Lord
أَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) All-Knower
بِٱلْمُفْسِدِينَbil-muf'sidīnaof the corrupters

Translation

And of them (is one) who believes in it and of them (is one) who (does) not believe in it And your Lord (is) All-Knower of the corrupters

Verse 41

وَإِنwa-inAnd if
كَذَّبُوكَkadhabūkathey deny you
فَقُلfaqulthen say
لِّىlīFor me
عَمَلِىʿamalī(are) my deeds
وَلَكُمْwalakumand for you
عَمَلُكُمْ ۖʿamalukum(are) your deeds
أَنتُمantumYou
بَرِيٓـُٔونَbarīūna(are) disassociated
مِمَّآmimmāfrom what
أَعْمَلُaʿmaluI do
وَأَنَا۠wa-anāand I am
بَرِىٓءٌۭbarīondisassociated
مِّمَّاmimmāfrom what
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do

Translation

And if they deny you then say For me (are) my deeds and for you (are) your deeds You (are) disassociated from what I do and I am disassociated from what you do

Verse 42

وَمِنْهُمwamin'humAnd among them
مَّنman(are some) who
يَسْتَمِعُونَyastamiʿūnalisten
إِلَيْكَ ۚilaykato you
أَفَأَنتَafa-antaBut (can) you
تُسْمِعُtus'miʿucause the deaf to hear
ٱلصُّمَّl-ṣumacause the deaf to hear
وَلَوْwalaweven though
كَانُوا۟kānūthey [were]
لَاlā(do) not
يَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnause reason

Translation

And among them (are some) who listen to you But (can) you cause the deaf to hear cause the deaf to hear even though they [were] (do) not use reason

Verse 43

وَمِنْهُمwamin'humAnd among them
مَّنman(are some) who
يَنظُرُyanẓurulook
إِلَيْكَ ۚilaykaat you
أَفَأَنتَafa-antaBut (can) you
تَهْدِىtahdīguide
ٱلْعُمْىَl-ʿum'yathe blind
وَلَوْwalaweven though
كَانُوا۟kānūthey [were]
لَاlā(do) not
يُبْصِرُونَyub'ṣirūnasee

Translation

And among them (are some) who look at you But (can) you guide the blind even though they [were] (do) not see

Verse 44

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
لَاlā(does) not
يَظْلِمُyaẓlimuwrong
ٱلنَّاسَl-nāsathe people
شَيْـًۭٔاshayan(in) anything
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabut
ٱلنَّاسَl-nāsathe people
أَنفُسَهُمْanfusahumwrong themselves
يَظْلِمُونَyaẓlimūnawrong themselves

Translation

Indeed Allah (does) not wrong the people (in) anything but the people wrong themselves wrong themselves

Verse 45

وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd the Day
يَحْشُرُهُمْyaḥshuruhumHe will gather them
كَأَنka-anas if
لَّمْlamthey had not remained
يَلْبَثُوٓا۟yalbathūthey had not remained
إِلَّاillāexcept
سَاعَةًۭsāʿatanan hour
مِّنَminaof
ٱلنَّهَارِl-nahārithe day
يَتَعَارَفُونَyataʿārafūnathey will recognize each other
بَيْنَهُمْ ۚbaynahumbetween them
قَدْqadCertainly
خَسِرَkhasira(will have) lost
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūdenied
بِلِقَآءِbiliqāithe meeting
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(with) Allah
وَمَاwamāand not
كَانُوا۟kānūthey were
مُهْتَدِينَmuh'tadīnathe guided ones

Translation

And the Day He will gather them as if they had not remained they had not remained except an hour of the day they will recognize each other between them Certainly (will have) lost those who denied the meeting (with) Allah and not they were the guided ones

Verse 46

وَإِمَّاwa-immāAnd whether
نُرِيَنَّكَnuriyannakaWe show you
بَعْضَbaʿḍasome
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(of) that which
نَعِدُهُمْnaʿiduhumWe promised them
أَوْawor
نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَnatawaffayannakaWe cause you to die
فَإِلَيْنَاfa-ilaynāthen to Us
مَرْجِعُهُمْmarjiʿuhum(is) their return
ثُمَّthummathen
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
شَهِيدٌshahīdun(is) a Witness
عَلَىٰʿalāover
مَاmāwhat
يَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnathey do

Translation

And whether We show you some (of) that which We promised them or We cause you to die then to Us (is) their return then Allah (is) a Witness over what they do

Verse 47

وَلِكُلِّwalikulliAnd for every
أُمَّةٍۢummatinnation
رَّسُولٌۭ ۖrasūlun(is) a Messenger
فَإِذَاfa-idhāSo when
جَآءَjāacomes
رَسُولُهُمْrasūluhumtheir Messenger
قُضِىَquḍiyait will be judged
بَيْنَهُمbaynahumbetween them
بِٱلْقِسْطِbil-qis'ṭiin justice
وَهُمْwahumand they
لَاlā(will) not
يُظْلَمُونَyuẓ'lamūnabe wronged

Translation

And for every nation (is) a Messenger So when comes their Messenger it will be judged between them in justice and they (will) not be wronged

Verse 48

وَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they say
مَتَىٰmatāWhen
هَـٰذَاhādhā(will) this
ٱلْوَعْدُl-waʿduthe promise (be fulfilled)
إِنinif
كُنتُمْkuntumyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful

Translation

And they say When (will) this the promise (be fulfilled) if you are truthful

Verse 49

قُلqulSay
لَّآlāNot
أَمْلِكُamlikuI have power
لِنَفْسِىlinafsīfor myself
ضَرًّۭاḍarran(for) any harm
وَلَاwalāand not
نَفْعًاnafʿan(for) any profit
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَاmāwhat
شَآءَshāaAllah wills
ٱللَّهُ ۗl-lahuAllah wills
لِكُلِّlikulliFor every
أُمَّةٍummatinnation
أَجَلٌ ۚajalun(is) a term
إِذَاidhāWhen
جَآءَjāacomes
أَجَلُهُمْajaluhumtheir term
فَلَاfalāthen not
يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَyastakhirūnathey remain behind
سَاعَةًۭ ۖsāʿatanan hour
وَلَاwalāand not
يَسْتَقْدِمُونَyastaqdimūnathey can precede (it)

Translation

Say Not I have power for myself (for) any harm and not (for) any profit except what Allah wills Allah wills For every nation (is) a term When comes their term then not they remain behind an hour and not they can precede (it)

Verse 50

قُلْqulSay
أَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumDo you see
إِنْinif
أَتَىٰكُمْatākumcomes to you
عَذَابُهُۥʿadhābuhuHis punishment
بَيَـٰتًاbayātan(by) night
أَوْawor
نَهَارًۭاnahāran(by) day
مَّاذَاmādhāwhat (portion)
يَسْتَعْجِلُyastaʿjiluof it would (wish to) hasten
مِنْهُmin'huof it would (wish to) hasten
ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَl-muj'rimūnathe criminals

Translation

Say Do you see if comes to you His punishment (by) night or (by) day what (portion) of it would (wish to) hasten of it would (wish to) hasten the criminals

Verse 51

أَثُمَّathummaIs (it) then
إِذَاidhāwhen
مَاmāwhen
وَقَعَwaqaʿa(it had) occurred
ءَامَنتُمāmantumyou (will) believe
بِهِۦٓ ۚbihiin it
ءَآلْـَٔـٰنَāl'ānaNow
وَقَدْwaqadAnd certainly
كُنتُمkuntumyou were
بِهِۦbihiseeking to hasten it
تَسْتَعْجِلُونَtastaʿjilūnaseeking to hasten it

Translation

Is (it) then when when (it had) occurred you (will) believe in it Now And certainly you were seeking to hasten it seeking to hasten it

Verse 52

ثُمَّthummaThen
قِيلَqīlait will be said
لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those who
ظَلَمُوا۟ẓalamūwronged
ذُوقُوا۟dhūqūTaste
عَذَابَʿadhābapunishment
ٱلْخُلْدِl-khul'dithe everlasting
هَلْhalAre you (being) recompensed
تُجْزَوْنَtuj'zawnaAre you (being) recompensed
إِلَّاillāexcept
بِمَاbimāfor what
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used (to)
تَكْسِبُونَtaksibūnaearn

Translation

Then it will be said to those who wronged Taste punishment the everlasting Are you (being) recompensed Are you (being) recompensed except for what you used (to) earn

Verse 53

۞ وَيَسْتَنۢبِـُٔونَكَwayastanbiūnakaAnd they ask you to inform
أَحَقٌّaḥaqqunIs it true
هُوَ ۖhuwaIs it true
قُلْqulSay
إِىīYes
وَرَبِّىٓwarabbīby my Lord
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, it
لَحَقٌّۭ ۖlaḥaqqun(is) surely the truth
وَمَآwamāand not
أَنتُمantumyou
بِمُعْجِزِينَbimuʿ'jizīna(can) escape (it)

Translation

And they ask you to inform Is it true Is it true Say Yes by my Lord Indeed, it (is) surely the truth and not you (can) escape (it)

Verse 54

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
أَنَّannathat
لِكُلِّlikullifor every
نَفْسٍۢnafsinsoul
ظَلَمَتْẓalamat(that) wronged
مَاmāwhatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
لَٱفْتَدَتْla-if'tadatit (would) seek to ransom
بِهِۦ ۗbihiwith it
وَأَسَرُّوا۟wa-asarrūand they (will) confide
ٱلنَّدَامَةَl-nadāmatathe regret
لَمَّاlammāwhen
رَأَوُا۟ra-awūthey see
ٱلْعَذَابَ ۖl-ʿadhābathe punishment
وَقُضِىَwaquḍiyaBut will be judged
بَيْنَهُمbaynahumbetween them
بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۚbil-qis'ṭiin justice
وَهُمْwahumand they
لَاlā(will) not
يُظْلَمُونَyuẓ'lamūna(be) wronged

Translation

And if that for every soul (that) wronged whatever (is) in the earth it (would) seek to ransom with it and they (will) confide the regret when they see the punishment But will be judged between them in justice and they (will) not (be) wronged

Verse 55

أَلَآalāNo doubt
إِنَّinnaindeed
لِلَّهِlillahifor Allah
مَاmā(is) whatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗwal-arḍiand the earth
أَلَآalāNo doubt
إِنَّinnaindeed
وَعْدَwaʿda(the) Promise of Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(the) Promise of Allah
حَقٌّۭḥaqqun(is) true
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnaBut
أَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of them
لَاlā(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow

Translation

No doubt indeed for Allah (is) whatever (is) in the heavens and the earth No doubt indeed (the) Promise of Allah (the) Promise of Allah (is) true But most of them (do) not know

Verse 56

هُوَhuwaHe
يُحْىِۦyuḥ'yīgives life
وَيُمِيتُwayumītuand causes death
وَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Him
تُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned

Translation

He gives life and causes death and to Him you will be returned

Verse 57

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO mankind
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsuO mankind
قَدْqadVerily
جَآءَتْكُمjāatkumhas come to you
مَّوْعِظَةٌۭmawʿiẓatunan instruction
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lord
وَشِفَآءٌۭwashifāonand a healing
لِّمَاlimāfor what
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلصُّدُورِl-ṣudūriyour breasts
وَهُدًۭىwahudanand guidance
وَرَحْمَةٌۭwaraḥmatunand mercy
لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَlil'mu'minīnafor the believers

Translation

O mankind O mankind Verily has come to you an instruction from your Lord and a healing for what (is) in your breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers

Verse 58

قُلْqulSay
بِفَضْلِbifaḍliIn the Bounty
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
وَبِرَحْمَتِهِۦwabiraḥmatihiand in His Mercy
فَبِذَٰلِكَfabidhālikaso in that
فَلْيَفْرَحُوا۟falyafraḥūlet them rejoice
هُوَhuwaIt
خَيْرٌۭkhayrun(is) better
مِّمَّاmimmāthan what
يَجْمَعُونَyajmaʿūnathey accumulate

Translation

Say In the Bounty (of) Allah and in His Mercy so in that let them rejoice It (is) better than what they accumulate

Verse 59

قُلْqulSay
أَرَءَيْتُمara-aytumHave you seen
مَّآmāwhat
أَنزَلَanzala(has been) sent down
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allah
لَكُمlakumfor you
مِّنminof
رِّزْقٍۢriz'qin(the) provision
فَجَعَلْتُمfajaʿaltumand you have made
مِّنْهُmin'huof it
حَرَامًۭاḥarāmanunlawful
وَحَلَـٰلًۭاwaḥalālanand lawful
قُلْqulSay
ءَآللَّهُāllahuHas Allah
أَذِنَadhinapermitted
لَكُمْ ۖlakum[to] you
أَمْamor
عَلَىʿalāabout
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
تَفْتَرُونَtaftarūnayou invent (lies)

Translation

Say Have you seen what (has been) sent down (by) Allah for you of (the) provision and you have made of it unlawful and lawful Say Has Allah permitted [to] you or about Allah you invent (lies)

Verse 60

وَمَاwamāAnd what
ظَنُّẓannu(will be the) assumption
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
يَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnainvent
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
ٱلْكَذِبَl-kadhibathe lie
يَوْمَyawma(on) the Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗl-qiyāmati(of) the Judgment
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
لَذُوladhū(is) surely Full (of) Bounty
فَضْلٍfaḍlin(is) surely Full (of) Bounty
عَلَىʿalāto
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsithe mankind
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabut
أَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of them
لَاlā(are) not
يَشْكُرُونَyashkurūnagrateful

Translation

And what (will be the) assumption (of) those who invent against Allah the lie (on) the Day (of) the Judgment Indeed Allah (is) surely Full (of) Bounty (is) surely Full (of) Bounty to the mankind but most of them (are) not grateful

Verse 61

وَمَاwamāAnd not
تَكُونُtakūnuyou are
فِىfī[in]
شَأْنٍۢshaninany situation
وَمَاwamāand not
تَتْلُوا۟tatlūyou recite
مِنْهُmin'huof it
مِنminfrom
قُرْءَانٍۢqur'ānin(the) Quran
وَلَاwalāand not
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
مِنْminany
عَمَلٍʿamalindeed
إِلَّاillāexcept
كُنَّاkunnāWe are
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover you
شُهُودًاshuhūdanwitnesses
إِذْidhwhen
تُفِيضُونَtufīḍūnayou are engaged
فِيهِ ۚfīhiin it
وَمَاwamāAnd not
يَعْزُبُyaʿzubuescapes
عَنʿanfrom
رَّبِّكَrabbikayour Lord
مِنminof
مِّثْقَالِmith'qāli(the) weight
ذَرَّةٍۢdharratin(of) an atom
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
وَلَاwalāand not
فِىfīin
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe heavens
وَلَآwalāand not
أَصْغَرَaṣgharasmaller
مِنminthan
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
وَلَآwalāand not
أَكْبَرَakbaragreater
إِلَّاillābut
فِىfī(is) in
كِتَـٰبٍۢkitābina Record
مُّبِينٍmubīninclear

Translation

And not you are [in] any situation and not you recite of it from (the) Quran and not you do any deed except We are over you witnesses when you are engaged in it And not escapes from your Lord of (the) weight (of) an atom in the earth and not in the heavens and not smaller than that and not greater but (is) in a Record clear

Verse 62

أَلَآalāNo doubt
إِنَّinnaIndeed
أَوْلِيَآءَawliyāa(the) friends
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
لَاlā(there will be) no
خَوْفٌkhawfunfear
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon then
وَلَاwalāand not
هُمْhumthey
يَحْزَنُونَyaḥzanūnawill grieve

Translation

No doubt Indeed (the) friends (of) Allah (there will be) no fear upon then and not they will grieve

Verse 63

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
وَكَانُوا۟wakānūand are
يَتَّقُونَyattaqūnaconscious (of Allah)

Translation

Those who believe and are conscious (of Allah)

Verse 64

لَهُمُlahumuFor them
ٱلْبُشْرَىٰl-bush'rā(are) the glad tidings
فِىfīin
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayatithe life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
وَفِىwafīand in
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۚl-ākhiratithe Hereafter
لَاlāNo
تَبْدِيلَtabdīlachange
لِكَلِمَـٰتِlikalimāti(is there) in the Words
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi(of) Allah
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
هُوَhuwais
ٱلْفَوْزُl-fawzuthe success
ٱلْعَظِيمُl-ʿaẓīmuthe great

Translation

For them (are) the glad tidings in the life (of) the world and in the Hereafter No change (is there) in the Words (of) Allah That is the success the great

Verse 65

وَلَاwalāAnd (let) not
يَحْزُنكَyaḥzunkagrieve you
قَوْلُهُمْ ۘqawluhumtheir speech
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلْعِزَّةَl-ʿizatathe honor
لِلَّهِlillahi(belongs) to Allah
جَمِيعًا ۚjamīʿanall
هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearer
ٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower

Translation

And (let) not grieve you their speech Indeed the honor (belongs) to Allah all He (is) the All-Hearer the All-Knower

Verse 66

أَلَآalāNo doubt
إِنَّinnaIndeed
لِلَّهِlillahito Allah (belongs)
مَنmanwhoever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَمَنwamanand whoever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗl-arḍithe earth
وَمَاwamāAnd not
يَتَّبِعُyattabiʿufollow
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَدْعُونَyadʿūnainvoke
مِنminother than Allah
دُونِdūniother than Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahiother than Allah
شُرَكَآءَ ۚshurakāapartners
إِنinNot
يَتَّبِعُونَyattabiʿūnathey follow
إِلَّاillābut
ٱلظَّنَّl-ẓanathe assumption
وَإِنْwa-inand not
هُمْhumthey
إِلَّاillābut
يَخْرُصُونَyakhruṣūnaguess

Translation

No doubt Indeed to Allah (belongs) whoever (is) in the heavens and whoever (is) in the earth And not follow those who invoke other than Allah other than Allah other than Allah partners Not they follow but the assumption and not they but guess

Verse 67

هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
جَعَلَjaʿalamade
لَكُمُlakumufor you
ٱلَّيْلَal-laylathe night
لِتَسْكُنُوا۟litaskunūthat you may rest
فِيهِfīhiin it
وَٱلنَّهَارَwal-nahāraand the day
مُبْصِرًا ۚmub'ṣirangiving visibility
إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢlaāyātinsurely (are) Signs
لِّقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يَسْمَعُونَyasmaʿūna(who) listen

Translation

He (is) the One Who made for you the night that you may rest in it and the day giving visibility Indeed in that surely (are) Signs for a people (who) listen

Verse 68

قَالُوا۟qālūThey say
ٱتَّخَذَittakhadhaAllah has taken
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has taken
وَلَدًۭا ۗwaladana son
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۖsub'ḥānahuGlory be to Him
هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلْغَنِىُّ ۖl-ghaniyu(is) the Self-sufficient
لَهُۥlahuTo Him (belongs)
مَاmāwhatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَمَاwamāand whatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚl-arḍithe earth
إِنْinNot
عِندَكُمʿindakumyou have
مِّنminany
سُلْطَـٰنٍۭsul'ṭāninauthority
بِهَـٰذَآ ۚbihādhāfor this
أَتَقُولُونَataqūlūnaDo you say
عَلَىʿalāabout
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
مَاmāwhat
لَاlānot
تَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou know

Translation

They say Allah has taken Allah has taken a son Glory be to Him He (is) the Self-sufficient To Him (belongs) whatever (is) in the heavens and whatever (is) in the earth Not you have any authority for this Do you say about Allah what not you know

Verse 69

قُلْqulSay
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnainvent
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
ٱلْكَذِبَl-kadhibathe lie
لَاlāthey will not succeed
يُفْلِحُونَyuf'liḥūnathey will not succeed

Translation

Say Indeed those who invent against Allah the lie they will not succeed they will not succeed

Verse 70

مَتَـٰعٌۭmatāʿunAn enjoyment
فِىfīin
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe world
ثُمَّthummathen
إِلَيْنَاilaynāto Us
مَرْجِعُهُمْmarjiʿuhum(is) their return
ثُمَّthummathen
نُذِيقُهُمُnudhīquhumuWe will make them taste
ٱلْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishment
ٱلشَّدِيدَl-shadīdathe severe
بِمَاbimābecause
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَكْفُرُونَyakfurūnadisbelieve

Translation

An enjoyment in the world then to Us (is) their return then We will make them taste the punishment the severe because they used to disbelieve

Verse 71

۞ وَٱتْلُwa-ut'luAnd recite
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto them
نَبَأَnaba-athe news
نُوحٍnūḥin(of) Nuh
إِذْidhwhen
قَالَqālahe said
لِقَوْمِهِۦliqawmihito his people
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
إِنinIf
كَانَkānais
كَبُرَkaburahard
عَلَيْكُمʿalaykumon you
مَّقَامِىmaqāmīmy stay
وَتَذْكِيرِىwatadhkīrīand my reminding
بِـَٔايَـٰتِbiāyātithe Signs of Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahithe Signs of Allah
فَعَلَىfaʿalāthen on
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
تَوَكَّلْتُtawakkaltuI put my trust
فَأَجْمِعُوٓا۟fa-ajmiʿūSo you all resolve
أَمْرَكُمْamrakumyour plan
وَشُرَكَآءَكُمْwashurakāakumand your partners
ثُمَّthummaThen
لَاlālet not be
يَكُنْyakunlet not be
أَمْرُكُمْamrukum(in) your plan
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor you
غُمَّةًۭghummatanany doubt
ثُمَّthummaThen
ٱقْضُوٓا۟iq'ḍūcarry (it out)
إِلَىَّilayyaupon me
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تُنظِرُونِtunẓirūnigive me respite

Translation

And recite to them the news (of) Nuh when he said to his people O my people If is hard on you my stay and my reminding the Signs of Allah the Signs of Allah then on Allah I put my trust So you all resolve your plan and your partners Then let not be let not be (in) your plan for you any doubt Then carry (it out) upon me and (do) not give me respite

Verse 72

فَإِنfa-inBut if
تَوَلَّيْتُمْtawallaytumyou turn away
فَمَاfamāthen not
سَأَلْتُكُمsa-altukumI have asked you
مِّنْminany
أَجْرٍ ۖajrinreward
إِنْinNot
أَجْرِىَajriya(is) my reward
إِلَّاillābut
عَلَىʿalāon
ٱللَّهِ ۖl-lahiAllah
وَأُمِرْتُwa-umir'tuand I have been commanded
أَنْanthat
أَكُونَakūnaI be
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَl-mus'limīnathe Muslims

Translation

But if you turn away then not I have asked you any reward Not (is) my reward but on Allah and I have been commanded that I be of the Muslims

Verse 73

فَكَذَّبُوهُfakadhabūhuBut they denied him
فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُfanajjaynāhuso We saved him
وَمَنwamanand (those) who
مَّعَهُۥmaʿahu(were) with him
فِىfīin
ٱلْفُلْكِl-ful'kithe ship
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْwajaʿalnāhumand We made them
خَلَـٰٓئِفَkhalāifasuccessors
وَأَغْرَقْنَاwa-aghraqnāand We drowned
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūdenied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا ۖbiāyātināOur Signs
فَٱنظُرْfa-unẓurThen see
كَيْفَkayfahow
كَانَkānawas
عَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) end
ٱلْمُنذَرِينَl-mundharīna(of) those who were warned

Translation

But they denied him so We saved him and (those) who (were) with him in the ship and We made them successors and We drowned those who denied Our Signs Then see how was (the) end (of) those who were warned

Verse 74

ثُمَّthummaThen
بَعَثْنَاbaʿathnāWe sent
مِنۢminafter him
بَعْدِهِۦbaʿdihiafter him
رُسُلًاrusulanMessengers
إِلَىٰilāto
قَوْمِهِمْqawmihimtheir people
فَجَآءُوهُمfajāūhumand they came to them
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayinātiwith clear proofs
فَمَاfamāBut not
كَانُوا۟kānūthey were
لِيُؤْمِنُوا۟liyu'minūto believe
بِمَاbimāwhat
كَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūthey had denied
بِهِۦbihi[it]
مِنminbefore
قَبْلُ ۚqablubefore
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
نَطْبَعُnaṭbaʿuWe seal
عَلَىٰʿalā[on]
قُلُوبِqulūbithe hearts
ٱلْمُعْتَدِينَl-muʿ'tadīna(of) the transgressors

Translation

Then We sent after him after him Messengers to their people and they came to them with clear proofs But not they were to believe what they had denied [it] before before Thus We seal [on] the hearts (of) the transgressors

Verse 75

ثُمَّthummaThen
بَعَثْنَاbaʿathnāWe sent
مِنۢminafter them
بَعْدِهِمbaʿdihimafter them
مُّوسَىٰmūsāMusa
وَهَـٰرُونَwahārūnaand Harun
إِلَىٰilāto
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦwamala-ihiand his chiefs
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاbiāyātināwith Our Signs
فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟fa-is'takbarūbut they were arrogant
وَكَانُوا۟wakānūand were
قَوْمًۭاqawmana people
مُّجْرِمِينَmuj'rimīnacriminal

Translation

Then We sent after them after them Musa and Harun to Firaun and his chiefs with Our Signs but they were arrogant and were a people criminal

Verse 76

فَلَمَّاfalammāSo when
جَآءَهُمُjāahumucame to them
ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truth
مِنْminfrom Us
عِندِنَاʿindināfrom Us
قَالُوٓا۟qālūthey said
إِنَّinnaIndeed
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
لَسِحْرٌۭlasiḥ'run(is) surely, a magic
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclear

Translation

So when came to them the truth from Us from Us they said Indeed this (is) surely, a magic clear

Verse 77

قَالَqālaMusa said
مُوسَىٰٓmūsāMusa said
أَتَقُولُونَataqūlūnaDo you say
لِلْحَقِّlil'ḥaqqiabout the truth
لَمَّاlammāwhen
جَآءَكُمْ ۖjāakumit has come to you
أَسِحْرٌasiḥ'runIs this magic
هَـٰذَاhādhāIs this magic
وَلَاwalāBut (will) not
يُفْلِحُyuf'liḥusucceed
ٱلسَّـٰحِرُونَl-sāḥirūnathe magicians

Translation

Musa said Musa said Do you say about the truth when it has come to you Is this magic Is this magic But (will) not succeed the magicians

Verse 78

قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey said
أَجِئْتَنَاaji'tanāHave you come to us
لِتَلْفِتَنَاlitalfitanāto turn us away
عَمَّاʿammāfrom that
وَجَدْنَاwajadnāwe found
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion it
ءَابَآءَنَاābāanāour forefathers
وَتَكُونَwatakūnaand you two (may) have
لَكُمَاlakumāand you two (may) have
ٱلْكِبْرِيَآءُl-kib'riyāuthe greatness
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe land
وَمَاwamāAnd we (are) not
نَحْنُnaḥnuAnd we (are) not
لَكُمَاlakumā(in) you two
بِمُؤْمِنِينَbimu'minīnabelievers

Translation

They said Have you come to us to turn us away from that we found on it our forefathers and you two (may) have and you two (may) have the greatness in the land And we (are) not And we (are) not (in) you two believers

Verse 79

وَقَالَwaqālaAnd Firaun said
فِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuAnd Firaun said
ٱئْتُونِىi'tūnīBring to me
بِكُلِّbikullievery
سَـٰحِرٍsāḥirinmagician
عَلِيمٍۢʿalīminlearned

Translation

And Firaun said And Firaun said Bring to me every magician learned

Verse 80

فَلَمَّاfalammāSo when
جَآءَjāacame
ٱلسَّحَرَةُl-saḥaratuthe magicians
قَالَqālasaid
لَهُمlahumto them
مُّوسَىٰٓmūsāMusa
أَلْقُوا۟alqūThrow
مَآmāwhatever
أَنتُمantumyou
مُّلْقُونَmul'qūna(wish to) throw

Translation

So when came the magicians said to them Musa Throw whatever you (wish to) throw

Verse 81

فَلَمَّآfalammāThen when
أَلْقَوْا۟alqawthey (had) thrown
قَالَqālaMusa said
مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa said
مَاmāWhat
جِئْتُمji'tumyou have brought
بِهِbihi[it]
ٱلسِّحْرُ ۖl-siḥ'ru(is) the magic
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
سَيُبْطِلُهُۥٓ ۖsayub'ṭiluhuwill nullify it
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
لَاlā(does) not
يُصْلِحُyuṣ'liḥuamend
عَمَلَʿamalathe work
ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَl-muf'sidīna(of) the corrupters

Translation

Then when they (had) thrown Musa said Musa said What you have brought [it] (is) the magic Indeed Allah will nullify it Indeed Allah (does) not amend the work (of) the corrupters

Verse 82

وَيُحِقُّwayuḥiqquAnd Allah will establish
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah will establish
ٱلْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truth
بِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦbikalimātihiby His words
وَلَوْwalaweven if
كَرِهَkarihadislike it
ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَl-muj'rimūnathe criminals

Translation

And Allah will establish And Allah will establish the truth by His words even if dislike it the criminals

Verse 83

فَمَآfamāBut none
ءَامَنَāmanabelieved
لِمُوسَىٰٓlimūsāMusa
إِلَّاillāexcept
ذُرِّيَّةٌۭdhurriyyatun(the) offspring
مِّنminamong
قَوْمِهِۦqawmihihis people
عَلَىٰʿalāfor
خَوْفٍۢkhawfinfear
مِّنminof
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
وَمَلَإِي۟هِمْwamala-ihimand their chiefs
أَنanlest
يَفْتِنَهُمْ ۚyaftinahumthey persecute them
وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
لَعَالٍۢlaʿālin(was) a tyrant
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuand indeed, he
لَمِنَlamina(was) of
ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَl-mus'rifīnathe ones who commit excesses

Translation

But none believed Musa except (the) offspring among his people for fear of Firaun and their chiefs lest they persecute them And indeed Firaun (was) a tyrant in the earth and indeed, he (was) of the ones who commit excesses

Verse 84

وَقَالَwaqālaAnd Musa said
مُوسَىٰmūsāAnd Musa said
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
إِنinIf
كُنتُمْkuntumyou have
ءَامَنتُمāmantumbelieved
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allah
فَعَلَيْهِfaʿalayhithen on Him
تَوَكَّلُوٓا۟tawakkalūput your trust
إِنinif
كُنتُمkuntumyou are
مُّسْلِمِينَmus'limīnaMuslims

Translation

And Musa said And Musa said O my people If you have believed in Allah then on Him put your trust if you are Muslims

Verse 85

فَقَالُوا۟faqālūThen they said
عَلَىʿalāUpon
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
تَوَكَّلْنَاtawakkalnāwe put our trust
رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord
لَاlā(Do) not
تَجْعَلْنَاtajʿalnāmake us
فِتْنَةًۭfit'natana trial
لِّلْقَوْمِlil'qawmifor the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers

Translation

Then they said Upon Allah we put our trust Our Lord (Do) not make us a trial for the people the wrongdoers

Verse 86

وَنَجِّنَاwanajjināAnd save us
بِرَحْمَتِكَbiraḥmatikaby Your Mercy
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe people
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers

Translation

And save us by Your Mercy from the people the disbelievers

Verse 87

وَأَوْحَيْنَآwa-awḥaynāAnd We inspired
إِلَىٰilāto
مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa
وَأَخِيهِwa-akhīhiand his brother
أَنanthat
تَبَوَّءَاtabawwaāSettle
لِقَوْمِكُمَاliqawmikumāyour people
بِمِصْرَbimiṣ'rain Egypt
بُيُوتًۭاbuyūtan(in) houses
وَٱجْعَلُوا۟wa-ij'ʿalūand make
بُيُوتَكُمْbuyūtakumyour houses
قِبْلَةًۭqib'latan(as) places of worship
وَأَقِيمُوا۟wa-aqīmūand establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ ۗl-ṣalatathe prayer
وَبَشِّرِwabashiriAnd give glad tidings
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(to) the believers

Translation

And We inspired to Musa and his brother that Settle your people in Egypt (in) houses and make your houses (as) places of worship and establish the prayer And give glad tidings (to) the believers

Verse 88

وَقَالَwaqālaAnd Musa said
مُوسَىٰmūsāAnd Musa said
رَبَّنَآrabbanāOur Lord
إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, You
ءَاتَيْتَātaytahave given
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
وَمَلَأَهُۥwamala-ahuand his chiefs
زِينَةًۭzīnatansplendor
وَأَمْوَٰلًۭاwa-amwālanand wealth
فِىfīin
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayatithe life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord
لِيُضِلُّوا۟liyuḍillūThat they may lead astray
عَنʿanfrom
سَبِيلِكَ ۖsabīlikaYour way
رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord
ٱطْمِسْiṭ'misDestroy
عَلَىٰٓʿalā[on]
أَمْوَٰلِهِمْamwālihimtheir wealth
وَٱشْدُدْwa-ush'dudand harden
عَلَىٰʿalā[on]
قُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir hearts
فَلَاfalāso (that) not
يُؤْمِنُوا۟yu'minūthey believe
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
يَرَوُا۟yarawūthey see
ٱلْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishment
ٱلْأَلِيمَl-alīmathe painful

Translation

And Musa said And Musa said Our Lord Indeed, You have given Firaun and his chiefs splendor and wealth in the life (of) the world Our Lord That they may lead astray from Your way Our Lord Destroy [on] their wealth and harden [on] their hearts so (that) not they believe until they see the punishment the painful

Verse 89

قَالَqālaHe said
قَدْqadVerily
أُجِيبَتujībathas been answered
دَّعْوَتُكُمَاdaʿwatukumā(the) invocation of both of you
فَٱسْتَقِيمَاfa-is'taqīmāSo you two (keep to the) straight way
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَتَّبِعَآنِّtattabiʿānnifollow
سَبِيلَsabīla(the) way
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
لَاlā(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow

Translation

He said Verily has been answered (the) invocation of both of you So you two (keep to the) straight way And (do) not follow (the) way (of) those who (do) not know

Verse 90

۞ وَجَـٰوَزْنَاwajāwaznāAnd We took across
بِبَنِىٓbibanī(the) Children
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israel
ٱلْبَحْرَl-baḥrathe sea
فَأَتْبَعَهُمْfa-atbaʿahumand followed them
فِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraun
وَجُنُودُهُۥwajunūduhuand his hosts
بَغْيًۭاbaghyan(in) rebellion
وَعَدْوًا ۖwaʿadwanand enmity
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāuntil
إِذَآidhāwhen
أَدْرَكَهُadrakahuovertook him
ٱلْغَرَقُl-gharaquthe drowning
قَالَqālahe said
ءَامَنتُāmantuI believe
أَنَّهُۥannahuthat
لَآlā(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhīthe One
ءَامَنَتْāmanatin Whom believe
بِهِۦbihiin Whom believe
بَنُوٓا۟banūthe Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīlathe Children of Israel
وَأَنَا۠wa-anāand I am
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَl-mus'limīnathe Muslims

Translation

And We took across (the) Children (of) Israel the sea and followed them Firaun and his hosts (in) rebellion and enmity until when overtook him the drowning he said I believe that (there is) no god except the One in Whom believe in Whom believe the Children of Israel the Children of Israel and I am of the Muslims

Verse 91

ءَآلْـَٔـٰنَāl'ānaNow
وَقَدْwaqadAnd verily
عَصَيْتَʿaṣaytayou (had) disobeyed
قَبْلُqablubefore
وَكُنتَwakuntaand you were
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَl-muf'sidīnathe corrupters

Translation

Now And verily you (had) disobeyed before and you were of the corrupters

Verse 92

فَٱلْيَوْمَfal-yawmaSo today
نُنَجِّيكَnunajjīkaWe will save you
بِبَدَنِكَbibadanikain your body
لِتَكُونَlitakūnathat you may be
لِمَنْlimanfor (those) who
خَلْفَكَkhalfakasucceed you
ءَايَةًۭ ۚāyatana sign
وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
كَثِيرًۭاkathīranmany
مِّنَminaamong
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsithe mankind
عَنْʿanof
ءَايَـٰتِنَاāyātināOur Signs
لَغَـٰفِلُونَlaghāfilūna(are) surely heedless

Translation

So today We will save you in your body that you may be for (those) who succeed you a sign And indeed many among the mankind of Our Signs (are) surely heedless

Verse 93

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
بَوَّأْنَاbawwanāWe settled
بَنِىٓbanī(the) Children
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israel
مُبَوَّأَmubawwa-a(in) a settlement
صِدْقٍۢṣid'qinhonorable
وَرَزَقْنَـٰهُمwarazaqnāhumand We provided them
مِّنَminawith
ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِl-ṭayibātithe good things
فَمَاfamāand not
ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ikh'talafūthey differ
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
جَآءَهُمُjāahumucame to them
ٱلْعِلْمُ ۚl-ʿil'muthe knowledge
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
يَقْضِىyaqḍīwill judge
بَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween them
يَوْمَyawma(on) the Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
فِيمَاfīmāconcerning what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)
فِيهِfīhi[in it]
يَخْتَلِفُونَyakhtalifūnadiffer

Translation

And verily We settled (the) Children (of) Israel (in) a settlement honorable and We provided them with the good things and not they differ until came to them the knowledge Indeed your Lord will judge between them (on) the Day (of) the Resurrection concerning what they used (to) [in it] differ

Verse 94

فَإِنfa-inSo if
كُنتَkuntayou are
فِىfīin
شَكٍّۢshakkindoubt
مِّمَّآmimmāof what
أَنزَلْنَآanzalnāWe have revealed
إِلَيْكَilaykato you
فَسْـَٔلِfasalithen ask
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَقْرَءُونَyaqraūna(have been) reading
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
مِنminbefore you
قَبْلِكَ ۚqablikabefore you
لَقَدْlaqadVerily
جَآءَكَjāakahas come to you
ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truth
مِنminfrom
رَّبِّكَrabbikayour Lord
فَلَاfalāso (do) not
تَكُونَنَّtakūnannabe
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْمُمْتَرِينَl-mum'tarīnathe doubters

Translation

So if you are in doubt of what We have revealed to you then ask those who (have been) reading the Book before you before you Verily has come to you the truth from your Lord so (do) not be among the doubters

Verse 95

وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَكُونَنَّtakūnannabe
مِنَminaof
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūdeny
بِـَٔايَـٰتِbiāyāti(the) Signs of Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(the) Signs of Allah
فَتَكُونَfatakūnathen you will be
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَl-khāsirīnathe losers

Translation

And (do) not be of those who deny (the) Signs of Allah (the) Signs of Allah then you will be among the losers

Verse 96

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose [whom]
حَقَّتْḥaqqathas become due
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon them
كَلِمَتُkalimatu(the) Word
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
لَاlāwill not
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve

Translation

Indeed those [whom] has become due on them (the) Word (of) your Lord will not believe

Verse 97

وَلَوْwalawEven if
جَآءَتْهُمْjāathumcomes to them
كُلُّkulluevery
ءَايَةٍāyatinSign
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
يَرَوُا۟yarawūthey see
ٱلْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishment
ٱلْأَلِيمَl-alīmathe painful

Translation

Even if comes to them every Sign until they see the punishment the painful

Verse 98

فَلَوْلَاfalawlāSo why not
كَانَتْkānatwas
قَرْيَةٌqaryatunany town
ءَامَنَتْāmanatthat believed
فَنَفَعَهَآfanafaʿahāand benefited it
إِيمَـٰنُهَآīmānuhāits faith
إِلَّاillāexcept
قَوْمَqawmathe people
يُونُسَyūnusa(of) Yunus
لَمَّآlammāWhen
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūthey believed
كَشَفْنَاkashafnāWe removed
عَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom them
عَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishment
ٱلْخِزْىِl-khiz'yi(of) the disgrace
فِىfīin
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayatithe life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāof the world
وَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْwamattaʿnāhumand We granted them enjoyment
إِلَىٰilāfor
حِينٍۢḥīnina time

Translation

So why not was any town that believed and benefited it its faith except the people (of) Yunus When they believed We removed from them (the) punishment (of) the disgrace in the life of the world and We granted them enjoyment for a time

Verse 99

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
شَآءَshāa(had) willed
رَبُّكَrabbukayour Lord
لَـَٔامَنَlaāmanasurely, (would) have believed
مَنmanwho
فِىfī(are) in
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
كُلُّهُمْkulluhumall of them
جَمِيعًا ۚjamīʿantogether
أَفَأَنتَafa-antaThen, will you
تُكْرِهُtuk'rihucompel
ٱلنَّاسَl-nāsathe mankind
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
يَكُونُوا۟yakūnūthey become
مُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers

Translation

And if (had) willed your Lord surely, (would) have believed who (are) in the earth all of them together Then, will you compel the mankind until they become believers

Verse 100

وَمَاwamāAnd not
كَانَkānais
لِنَفْسٍlinafsinfor a soul
أَنanto
تُؤْمِنَtu'minabelieve
إِلَّاillāexcept
بِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby (the) permission
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi(of) Allah
وَيَجْعَلُwayajʿaluAnd He will place
ٱلرِّجْسَl-rij'sathe wrath
عَلَىʿalāon
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
لَاlā(do) not
يَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnause reason

Translation

And not is for a soul to believe except by (the) permission (of) Allah And He will place the wrath on those who (do) not use reason

Verse 101

قُلِquliSay
ٱنظُرُوا۟unẓurūSee
مَاذَاmādhāwhat
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚwal-arḍiand the earth
وَمَاwamāBut not
تُغْنِىtugh'nīwill avail
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتُl-āyātuthe Signs
وَٱلنُّذُرُwal-nudhuruand the warners
عَنʿanto
قَوْمٍۢqawmina people
لَّاlā(who do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve

Translation

Say See what (is) in the heavens and the earth But not will avail the Signs and the warners to a people (who do) not believe

Verse 102

فَهَلْfahalThen do
يَنتَظِرُونَyantaẓirūnathey wait
إِلَّاillāexcept
مِثْلَmith'lalike
أَيَّامِayyāmithe days
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
خَلَوْا۟khalawpassed away
مِنminbefore them
قَبْلِهِمْ ۚqablihimbefore them
قُلْqulSay
فَٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟fa-intaẓirūThen wait
إِنِّىinnīindeed, I (am)
مَعَكُمmaʿakumwith you
مِّنَminaamong
ٱلْمُنتَظِرِينَl-muntaẓirīnathe ones who wait

Translation

Then do they wait except like the days (of) those who passed away before them before them Say Then wait indeed, I (am) with you among the ones who wait

Verse 103

ثُمَّthummaThen
نُنَجِّىnunajjīWe will save
رُسُلَنَاrusulanāOur Messengers
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those who
ءَامَنُوا۟ ۚāmanūbelieve
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
حَقًّاḥaqqan(it is) an obligation
عَلَيْنَاʿalaynāupon Us
نُنجِnunji(that) We save
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers

Translation

Then We will save Our Messengers and those who believe Thus (it is) an obligation upon Us (that) We save the believers

Verse 104

قُلْqulSay
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO mankind
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsuO mankind
إِنinIf
كُنتُمْkuntumyou are
فِىfīin
شَكٍّۢshakkindoubt
مِّنminof
دِينِىdīnīmy religion
فَلَآfalāthen not
أَعْبُدُaʿbuduI worship
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whom
تَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūnayou worship
مِنminbesides Allah
دُونِdūnibesides Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahibesides Allah
وَلَـٰكِنْwalākinbut
أَعْبُدُaʿbuduI worship
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One Who
يَتَوَفَّىٰكُمْ ۖyatawaffākumcauses you to die
وَأُمِرْتُwa-umir'tuAnd I am commanded
أَنْanthat
أَكُونَakūnaI be
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers

Translation

Say O mankind O mankind If you are in doubt of my religion then not I worship those whom you worship besides Allah besides Allah besides Allah but I worship Allah the One Who causes you to die And I am commanded that I be of the believers

Verse 105

وَأَنْwa-anAnd that
أَقِمْaqimDirect
وَجْهَكَwajhakayour face
لِلدِّينِlilddīnito the religion
حَنِيفًۭاḥanīfanupright
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَكُونَنَّtakūnannabe
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists

Translation

And that Direct your face to the religion upright and (do) not be of the polytheists

Verse 106

وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَدْعُtadʿuinvoke
مِنminbesides Allah
دُونِdūnibesides Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahibesides Allah
مَاmāwhat
لَاlā(will) not
يَنفَعُكَyanfaʿukabenefit you
وَلَاwalāand not
يَضُرُّكَ ۖyaḍurrukaharm you
فَإِنfa-inBut if
فَعَلْتَfaʿaltayou did so
فَإِنَّكَfa-innakaindeed, you
إِذًۭاidhanthen (will be)
مِّنَminaof
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers

Translation

And (do) not invoke besides Allah besides Allah besides Allah what (will) not benefit you and not harm you But if you did so indeed, you then (will be) of the wrongdoers

Verse 107

وَإِنwa-inAnd if
يَمْسَسْكَyamsaskaAllah touches you
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah touches you
بِضُرٍّۢbiḍurrinwith adversity
فَلَاfalā(there is) no
كَاشِفَkāshifaremover
لَهُۥٓlahuof it
إِلَّاillāexcept
هُوَ ۖhuwaHim
وَإِنwa-inand if
يُرِدْكَyurid'kaHe intends for you
بِخَيْرٍۢbikhayrinany good
فَلَاfalāthen (there is) no
رَآدَّrāddarepeller
لِفَضْلِهِۦ ۚlifaḍlihi(of) His Bounty
يُصِيبُyuṣībuHe causes it to reach
بِهِۦbihiHe causes it to reach
مَنmanwhom
يَشَآءُyashāuHe wills
مِنْminof
عِبَادِهِۦ ۚʿibādihiHis slaves
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلْغَفُورُl-ghafūru(is) the Oft-Forgiving
ٱلرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful

Translation

And if Allah touches you Allah touches you with adversity (there is) no remover of it except Him and if He intends for you any good then (there is) no repeller (of) His Bounty He causes it to reach He causes it to reach whom He wills of His slaves And He (is) the Oft-Forgiving the Most Merciful

Verse 108

قُلْqulSay
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO mankind
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsuO mankind
قَدْqadVerily
جَآءَكُمُjāakumuhas come to you
ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truth
مِنminfrom
رَّبِّكُمْ ۖrabbikumyour Lord
فَمَنِfamaniSo whoever
ٱهْتَدَىٰih'tadā(is) guided
فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen only
يَهْتَدِىyahtadī(he is) guided
لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖlinafsihifor his soul
وَمَنwamanand whoever
ضَلَّḍallagoes astray
فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen only
يَضِلُّyaḍilluhe strays
عَلَيْهَا ۖʿalayhāagainst it
وَمَآwamāAnd I am not
أَنَا۠anāAnd I am not
عَلَيْكُمʿalaykumover you
بِوَكِيلٍۢbiwakīlina guardian

Translation

Say O mankind O mankind Verily has come to you the truth from your Lord So whoever (is) guided then only (he is) guided for his soul and whoever goes astray then only he strays against it And I am not And I am not over you a guardian

Verse 109

وَٱتَّبِعْwa-ittabiʿAnd follow
مَاmāwhat
يُوحَىٰٓyūḥāis revealed
إِلَيْكَilaykato you
وَٱصْبِرْwa-iṣ'birand be patient
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
يَحْكُمَyaḥkumaAllah gives judgment
ٱللَّهُ ۚl-lahuAllah gives judgment
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
خَيْرُkhayru(is) the Best
ٱلْحَـٰكِمِينَl-ḥākimīna(of) the Judges

Translation

And follow what is revealed to you and be patient until Allah gives judgment Allah gives judgment And He (is) the Best (of) the Judges
