Chapter 11Meccan123 Verses

Verse 1

الٓر ۚalif-lam-raAlif Lam Ra
كِتَـٰبٌkitābun(This is) a Book
أُحْكِمَتْuḥ'kimatare perfected
ءَايَـٰتُهُۥāyātuhuits Verses
ثُمَّthummamoreover
فُصِّلَتْfuṣṣilatexplained in detail
مِنminfrom (he One Who)
لَّدُنْladunfrom (he One Who)
حَكِيمٍḥakīmin(is) All-Wise
خَبِيرٍkhabīrinAll-Aware

Translation

Alif Lam Ra (This is) a Book are perfected its Verses moreover explained in detail from (he One Who) from (he One Who) (is) All-Wise All-Aware

Verse 2

أَلَّاallāThat "Not
تَعْبُدُوٓا۟taʿbudūyou worship
إِلَّاillābut
ٱللَّهَ ۚl-lahaAllah
إِنَّنِىinnanīIndeed, I am
لَكُمlakumto you
مِّنْهُmin'hufrom Him
نَذِيرٌۭnadhīruna warner
وَبَشِيرٌۭwabashīrunand a bearer of glad tidings

Translation

That "Not you worship but Allah Indeed, I am to you from Him a warner and a bearer of glad tidings

Verse 3

وَأَنِwa-aniAnd that
ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟is'taghfirūSeek forgiveness
رَبَّكُمْrabbakum(of) your Lord
ثُمَّthummaand
تُوبُوٓا۟tūbūturn in repentance
إِلَيْهِilayhito Him
يُمَتِّعْكُمyumattiʿ'kumHe will let you
مَّتَـٰعًاmatāʿanenjoy
حَسَنًاḥasanana good
إِلَىٰٓilāfor
أَجَلٍۢajalina term
مُّسَمًّۭىmusammanappointed
وَيُؤْتِwayu'tiAnd give
كُلَّkulla(to) every
ذِىdhīowner
فَضْلٍۢfaḍlin(of) grace
فَضْلَهُۥ ۖfaḍlahuHis Grace
وَإِنwa-inBut if
تَوَلَّوْا۟tawallawyou turn away
فَإِنِّىٓfa-innīthen indeed, I
أَخَافُakhāfufear
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor you
عَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishment
يَوْمٍۢyawmin(of) a Great Day
كَبِيرٍkabīrin(of) a Great Day

Translation

And that Seek forgiveness (of) your Lord and turn in repentance to Him He will let you enjoy a good for a term appointed And give (to) every owner (of) grace His Grace But if you turn away then indeed, I fear for you (the) punishment (of) a Great Day (of) a Great Day

Verse 4

إِلَىilāTo
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
مَرْجِعُكُمْ ۖmarjiʿukum(is) your return
وَهُوَwahuwaand He
عَلَىٰʿalā(is) on
كُلِّkullievery
شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
قَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful

Translation

To Allah (is) your return and He (is) on every thing All-Powerful

Verse 5

أَلَآalāNo doubt
إِنَّهُمْinnahumThey
يَثْنُونَyathnūnafold up
صُدُورَهُمْṣudūrahumtheir breasts
لِيَسْتَخْفُوا۟liyastakhfūthat they may hide
مِنْهُ ۚmin'hufrom Him
أَلَاalāSurely
حِينَḥīnawhen
يَسْتَغْشُونَyastaghshūnathey cover (themselves)
ثِيَابَهُمْthiyābahum(with) their garments
يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knows
مَاmāwhat
يُسِرُّونَyusirrūnathey conceal
وَمَاwamāand what
يُعْلِنُونَ ۚyuʿ'linūnathey reveal
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
عَلِيمٌۢʿalīmun(is) All-Knower
بِذَاتِbidhātiof what
ٱلصُّدُورِl-ṣudūri(is in) the breasts

Translation

No doubt They fold up their breasts that they may hide from Him Surely when they cover (themselves) (with) their garments He knows what they conceal and what they reveal Indeed, He (is) All-Knower of what (is in) the breasts

Verse 6

۞ وَمَاwamāAnd not
مِنminany
دَآبَّةٍۢdābbatinmoving creature
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
إِلَّاillābut
عَلَىʿalāon
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
رِزْقُهَاriz'quhā(is) its provision
وَيَعْلَمُwayaʿlamuAnd He knows
مُسْتَقَرَّهَاmus'taqarrahāits dwelling place
وَمُسْتَوْدَعَهَا ۚwamus'tawdaʿahāand its place of storage
كُلٌّۭkullunAll
فِىfī(is) in
كِتَـٰبٍۢkitābina Record
مُّبِينٍۢmubīninclear

Translation

And not any moving creature in the earth but on Allah (is) its provision And He knows its dwelling place and its place of storage All (is) in a Record clear

Verse 7

وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
خَلَقَkhalaqacreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earth
فِىfīin
سِتَّةِsittatisix
أَيَّامٍۢayyāminepochs
وَكَانَwakānaand His throne was
عَرْشُهُۥʿarshuhuand His throne was
عَلَىʿalāon
ٱلْمَآءِl-māithe water
لِيَبْلُوَكُمْliyabluwakumthat He might test [you]
أَيُّكُمْayyukumwhich of you
أَحْسَنُaḥsanu(is) best
عَمَلًۭا ۗʿamalan(in) deed
وَلَئِنwala-inBut if
قُلْتَqul'tayou say
إِنَّكُمinnakumIndeed, you
مَّبْعُوثُونَmabʿūthūna(will be) resurrected
مِنۢminafter
بَعْدِbaʿdiafter
ٱلْمَوْتِl-mawti[the] death
لَيَقُولَنَّlayaqūlannasurely would say
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوٓا۟kafarūdisbelieved
إِنْinThis is not
هَـٰذَآhādhāThis is not
إِلَّاillābut
سِحْرٌۭsiḥ'runa magic
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclear

Translation

And He (is) the One Who created the heavens and the earth in six epochs and His throne was and His throne was on the water that He might test [you] which of you (is) best (in) deed But if you say Indeed, you (will be) resurrected after after [the] death surely would say those who disbelieved This is not This is not but a magic clear

Verse 8

وَلَئِنْwala-inAnd if
أَخَّرْنَاakharnāWe delay
عَنْهُمُʿanhumufrom them
ٱلْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishment
إِلَىٰٓilāfor
أُمَّةٍۢummatina time
مَّعْدُودَةٍۢmaʿdūdatindetermined
لَّيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunnathey will surely say
مَاmāWhat
يَحْبِسُهُۥٓ ۗyaḥbisuhudetains it
أَلَاalāNo doubt
يَوْمَyawma(On) the Day
يَأْتِيهِمْyatīhimit comes to them
لَيْسَlaysanot
مَصْرُوفًاmaṣrūfan(will be) averted
عَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom them
وَحَاقَwaḥāqaand will surround
بِهِمbihimthem
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)
بِهِۦbihimock at [it]
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūnamock at [it]

Translation

And if We delay from them the punishment for a time determined they will surely say What detains it No doubt (On) the Day it comes to them not (will be) averted from them and will surround them what they used (to) mock at [it] mock at [it]

Verse 9

وَلَئِنْwala-inAnd if
أَذَقْنَاadhaqnāWe give man a taste
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insānaWe give man a taste
مِنَّاminnā(of) Mercy from Us
رَحْمَةًۭraḥmatan(of) Mercy from Us
ثُمَّthummathen
نَزَعْنَـٰهَاnazaʿnāhāWe withdraw it
مِنْهُmin'hufrom him
إِنَّهُۥinnahuindeed, he
لَيَـُٔوسٌۭlayaūsun(is) despairing
كَفُورٌۭkafūrun(and) ungrateful

Translation

And if We give man a taste We give man a taste (of) Mercy from Us (of) Mercy from Us then We withdraw it from him indeed, he (is) despairing (and) ungrateful

Verse 10

وَلَئِنْwala-inBut if
أَذَقْنَـٰهُadhaqnāhuWe give him a taste
نَعْمَآءَnaʿmāa(of) favor
بَعْدَbaʿdaafter
ضَرَّآءَḍarrāahardship
مَسَّتْهُmassathu(has) touched him
لَيَقُولَنَّlayaqūlannasurely, he will say
ذَهَبَdhahabaHave gone
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتُl-sayiātuthe evils
عَنِّىٓ ۚʿannīfrom me
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
لَفَرِحٌۭlafariḥun(is) exultant
فَخُورٌfakhūrun(and) boastful

Translation

But if We give him a taste (of) favor after hardship (has) touched him surely, he will say Have gone the evils from me Indeed, he (is) exultant (and) boastful

Verse 11

إِلَّاillāExcept
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
صَبَرُوا۟ṣabarū(are) patient
وَعَمِلُوا۟waʿamilūand do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥātithe good deeds
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikathose
لَهُمlahumfor them
مَّغْفِرَةٌۭmaghfiratun(will be) forgiveness
وَأَجْرٌۭwa-ajrunand a reward
كَبِيرٌۭkabīrungreat

Translation

Except those who (are) patient and do the good deeds those for them (will be) forgiveness and a reward great

Verse 12

فَلَعَلَّكَfalaʿallakaThen possibly you
تَارِكٌۢtārikun(may) give up
بَعْضَbaʿḍaa part
مَاmā(of) what
يُوحَىٰٓyūḥāis revealed
إِلَيْكَilaykato you
وَضَآئِقٌۢwaḍāiqunand straitened
بِهِۦbihiby it
صَدْرُكَṣadrukayour breast
أَنanbecause
يَقُولُوا۟yaqūlūthey say
لَوْلَآlawlāWhy not
أُنزِلَunzilais sent down
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor him
كَنزٌkanzuna treasure
أَوْawor
جَآءَjāahas come
مَعَهُۥmaʿahuwith him
مَلَكٌ ۚmalakunan Angel
إِنَّمَآinnamāOnly
أَنتَantayou
نَذِيرٌۭ ۚnadhīrun(are) a warner
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
عَلَىٰʿalā(is) on
كُلِّkullievery
شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
وَكِيلٌwakīluna Guardian

Translation

Then possibly you (may) give up a part (of) what is revealed to you and straitened by it your breast because they say Why not is sent down for him a treasure or has come with him an Angel Only you (are) a warner And Allah (is) on every thing a Guardian

Verse 13

أَمْamOr
يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey say
افْتَرَاهُ ۖif'tarāhuHe has fabricated it
قُلْqulSay
فَأْتُوا۟fatūThen bring
بِعَشْرِbiʿashriten
سُوَرٍۢsuwarinSurahs
مِّثْلِهِۦmith'lihilike it
مُفْتَرَيَـٰتٍۢmuf'tarayātinfabricated
وَٱدْعُوا۟wa-id'ʿūand call
مَنِmaniwhoever
ٱسْتَطَعْتُمis'taṭaʿtumyou can
مِّنminbesides Allah
دُونِdūnibesides Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahibesides Allah
إِنinif
كُنتُمْkuntumyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful

Translation

Or they say He has fabricated it Say Then bring ten Surahs like it fabricated and call whoever you can besides Allah besides Allah besides Allah if you are truthful

Verse 14

فَإِلَّمْfa-illamThen if not
يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟yastajībūthey respond
لَكُمْlakumto you
فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟fa-iʿ'lamūthen know
أَنَّمَآannamāthat
أُنزِلَunzilait was sent down
بِعِلْمِbiʿil'miwith the knowledge of Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahiwith the knowledge of Allah
وَأَنwa-anand that
لَّآlā(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّاillāexcept
هُوَ ۖhuwaHim
فَهَلْfahalThen, would
أَنتُمantumyou
مُّسْلِمُونَmus'limūna(be) Muslims

Translation

Then if not they respond to you then know that it was sent down with the knowledge of Allah with the knowledge of Allah and that (there is) no god except Him Then, would you (be) Muslims

Verse 15

مَنmanWhoever [is]
كَانَkānaWhoever [is]
يُرِيدُyurīdudesires
ٱلْحَيَوٰةَl-ḥayatathe life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
وَزِينَتَهَاwazīnatahāand its adornments
نُوَفِّnuwaffiWe will repay in full
إِلَيْهِمْilayhimto them
أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْaʿmālahum(for) their deeds
فِيهَاfīhātherein
وَهُمْwahumand they
فِيهَاfīhāin it
لَاlāwill not be lessened
يُبْخَسُونَyub'khasūnawill not be lessened

Translation

Whoever [is] Whoever [is] desires the life (of) the world and its adornments We will repay in full to them (for) their deeds therein and they in it will not be lessened will not be lessened

Verse 16

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the ones who
لَيْسَlaysa(is) not
لَهُمْlahumfor them
فِىfīin
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafter
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلنَّارُ ۖl-nāruthe Fire
وَحَبِطَwaḥabiṭaAnd (has) gone in vain
مَاmāwhat
صَنَعُوا۟ṣanaʿūthey did
فِيهَاfīhātherein
وَبَـٰطِلٌۭwabāṭilunand (is) worthless
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado

Translation

Those (are) the ones who (is) not for them in the Hereafter except the Fire And (has) gone in vain what they did therein and (is) worthless what they used (to) do

Verse 17

أَفَمَنafamanThen is he who
كَانَkānais
عَلَىٰʿalāon
بَيِّنَةٍۢbayyinatina clear proof
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّهِۦrabbihihis Lord
وَيَتْلُوهُwayatlūhuand recites it
شَاهِدٌۭshāhiduna witness
مِّنْهُmin'hufrom Him
وَمِنwaminand before it
قَبْلِهِۦqablihiand before it
كِتَـٰبُkitābu(was) a Book
مُوسَىٰٓmūsā(of) Musa
إِمَامًۭاimāman(as) a guide
وَرَحْمَةً ۚwaraḥmatanand (as) mercy
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
بِهِۦ ۚbihiin it
وَمَنwamanBut whoever
يَكْفُرْyakfurdisbelieves
بِهِۦbihiin it
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْأَحْزَابِl-aḥzābithe sects
فَٱلنَّارُfal-nāruthen the Fire
مَوْعِدُهُۥ ۚmawʿiduhu(will be) his promised (meeting) place
فَلَاfalāSo (do) not
تَكُtakube
فِىfīin
مِرْيَةٍۢmir'yatindoubt
مِّنْهُ ۚmin'huabout it
إِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, it
ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the truth
مِنminfrom
رَّبِّكَrabbikayour Lord
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabut
أَكْثَرَaktharamost
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the people
لَاlā(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve

Translation

Then is he who is on a clear proof from his Lord and recites it a witness from Him and before it and before it (was) a Book (of) Musa (as) a guide and (as) mercy Those believe in it But whoever disbelieves in it among the sects then the Fire (will be) his promised (meeting) place So (do) not be in doubt about it Indeed, it (is) the truth from your Lord but most (of) the people (do) not believe

Verse 18

وَمَنْwamanAnd who
أَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more unjust
مِمَّنِmimmanithan (he) who
ٱفْتَرَىٰif'tarāinvents
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
كَذِبًا ۚkadhibana lie
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
يُعْرَضُونَyuʿ'raḍūnawill be presented
عَلَىٰʿalābefore
رَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lord
وَيَقُولُwayaqūluand will say
ٱلْأَشْهَـٰدُl-ashhāduthe witnesses
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāiThese (are)
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَذَبُوا۟kadhabūlied
عَلَىٰʿalāagainst
رَبِّهِمْ ۚrabbihimtheir Lord
أَلَاalāNo doubt
لَعْنَةُlaʿnatu(The) curse of Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(The) curse of Allah
عَلَىʿalā(is) on
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers

Translation

And who (is) more unjust than (he) who invents against Allah a lie Those will be presented before their Lord and will say the witnesses These (are) those who lied against their Lord No doubt (The) curse of Allah (The) curse of Allah (is) on the wrongdoers

Verse 19

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
يَصُدُّونَyaṣuddūnahinder
عَنʿanfrom
سَبِيلِsabīli(the) way
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
وَيَبْغُونَهَاwayabghūnahāand seek (in) it
عِوَجًۭاʿiwajancrookedness
وَهُمwahumwhile they
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafter
هُمْhum[they]
كَـٰفِرُونَkāfirūna(are) disbelievers

Translation

Those who hinder from (the) way (of) Allah and seek (in) it crookedness while they in the Hereafter [they] (are) disbelievers

Verse 20

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
لَمْlamnot
يَكُونُوا۟yakūnūwill be
مُعْجِزِينَmuʿ'jizīna(able to) escape
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
وَمَاwamāand not
كَانَkānais
لَهُمlahumfor them
مِّنminbesides
دُونِdūnibesides
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
مِنْminany
أَوْلِيَآءَ ۘawliyāaprotectors
يُضَـٰعَفُyuḍāʿafuAnd will be doubled
لَهُمُlahumufor them
ٱلْعَذَابُ ۚl-ʿadhābuthe punishment
مَاmāNot
كَانُوا۟kānūthey were
يَسْتَطِيعُونَyastaṭīʿūnaable
ٱلسَّمْعَl-samʿa(to) hear
وَمَاwamāand not
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)
يُبْصِرُونَyub'ṣirūnasee

Translation

Those not will be (able to) escape in the earth and not is for them besides besides Allah any protectors And will be doubled for them the punishment Not they were able (to) hear and not they used (to) see

Verse 21

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the ones who
خَسِرُوٓا۟khasirū(have) lost
أَنفُسَهُمْanfusahumtheir souls
وَضَلَّwaḍallaand lost
عَنْهُمʿanhumfrom them
مَّاmā(is) what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used
يَفْتَرُونَyaftarūna(to) invent

Translation

Those (are) the ones who (have) lost their souls and lost from them (is) what they used (to) invent

Verse 22

لَاlāNo
جَرَمَjaramadoubt
أَنَّهُمْannahumthat they
فِىfīin
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafter
هُمُhumu[they]
ٱلْأَخْسَرُونَl-akhsarūna(will be) the greatest losers

Translation

No doubt that they in the Hereafter [they] (will be) the greatest losers

Verse 23

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
وَعَمِلُوا۟waʿamilūand do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥātigood deeds
وَأَخْبَتُوٓا۟wa-akhbatūand humble themselves
إِلَىٰilābefore
رَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lord
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikathose
أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(are the) companions
ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۖl-janati(of) Paradise
هُمْhumthey
فِيهَاfīhāin it
خَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūna(will) abide forever

Translation

Indeed those who believe and do good deeds and humble themselves before their Lord those (are the) companions (of) Paradise they in it (will) abide forever

Verse 24

۞ مَثَلُmathalu(The) example
ٱلْفَرِيقَيْنِl-farīqayni(of) the two parties
كَٱلْأَعْمَىٰkal-aʿmā(is) like the blind
وَٱلْأَصَمِّwal-aṣamiand the deaf
وَٱلْبَصِيرِwal-baṣīriand the seer
وَٱلسَّمِيعِ ۚwal-samīʿiand the hearer
هَلْhalAre
يَسْتَوِيَانِyastawiyānithey equal
مَثَلًا ۚmathalan(in) comparison
أَفَلَاafalāThen, will not
تَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnayou take heed

Translation

(The) example (of) the two parties (is) like the blind and the deaf and the seer and the hearer Are they equal (in) comparison Then, will not you take heed

Verse 25

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sent
نُوحًاnūḥanNuh
إِلَىٰilāto
قَوْمِهِۦٓqawmihihis people
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
لَكُمْlakumto you
نَذِيرٌۭnadhīruna warner
مُّبِينٌmubīnunclear

Translation

And verily We sent Nuh to his people Indeed, I am to you a warner clear

Verse 26

أَنanThat
لَّاlā(do) not
تَعْبُدُوٓا۟taʿbudūworship
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱللَّهَ ۖl-lahaAllah
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أَخَافُakhāfu[I] fear
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor you
عَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishment
يَوْمٍyawmin(of) a Day
أَلِيمٍۢalīminpainful

Translation

That (do) not worship except Allah Indeed, I [I] fear for you (the) punishment (of) a Day painful

Verse 27

فَقَالَfaqālaSo said
ٱلْمَلَأُl-mala-uthe chiefs
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieved
مِنminfrom
قَوْمِهِۦqawmihihis people
مَاmāNot
نَرَىٰكَnarākawe see you
إِلَّاillābut
بَشَرًۭاbasharana man
مِّثْلَنَاmith'lanālike us
وَمَاwamāand not
نَرَىٰكَnarākawe see you
ٱتَّبَعَكَittabaʿakafollowed [you]
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
هُمْhum[they]
أَرَاذِلُنَاarādhilunā(are) the lowest of us
بَادِىَbādiyaimmature in opinion
ٱلرَّأْىِl-rayiimmature in opinion
وَمَاwamāAnd not
نَرَىٰnarāwe see
لَكُمْlakumin you
عَلَيْنَاʿalaynāover us
مِنminany
فَضْلٍۭfaḍlinmerit
بَلْbalnay
نَظُنُّكُمْnaẓunnukumwe think you
كَـٰذِبِينَkādhibīna(are) liars

Translation

So said the chiefs (of) those who disbelieved from his people Not we see you but a man like us and not we see you followed [you] except those who [they] (are) the lowest of us immature in opinion immature in opinion And not we see in you over us any merit nay we think you (are) liars

Verse 28

قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
أَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumDo you see
إِنinif
كُنتُkuntuI was
عَلَىٰʿalāon
بَيِّنَةٍۢbayyinatin(the) clear proof
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّىrabbīmy Lord
وَءَاتَىٰنِىwaātānīwhile He has given me
رَحْمَةًۭraḥmatanmercy
مِّنْminfrom
عِندِهِۦʿindihiHimself
فَعُمِّيَتْfaʿummiyatbut (it) has been obscured
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfrom you
أَنُلْزِمُكُمُوهَاanul'zimukumūhāshould We compel you (to accept) it
وَأَنتُمْwa-antumwhile you (are)
لَهَاlahāaverse to it
كَـٰرِهُونَkārihūnaaverse to it

Translation

He said O my people Do you see if I was on (the) clear proof from my Lord while He has given me mercy from Himself but (it) has been obscured from you should We compel you (to accept) it while you (are) averse to it averse to it

Verse 29

وَيَـٰقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people
لَآlānot
أَسْـَٔلُكُمْasalukumI ask (of) you
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor it
مَالًا ۖmālanany wealth
إِنْinNot
أَجْرِىَajriya(is) my reward
إِلَّاillāexcept
عَلَىʿalāfrom
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllah
وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَنَا۠anāI am
بِطَارِدِbiṭāridigoing to drive away
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟ ۚāmanūbelieved
إِنَّهُمinnahumIndeed, they
مُّلَـٰقُوا۟mulāqū(will) be meeting
رَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lord
وَلَـٰكِنِّىٓwalākinnībut I
أَرَىٰكُمْarākumsee you
قَوْمًۭاqawman(are) a people
تَجْهَلُونَtajhalūnaignorant

Translation

And O my people not I ask (of) you for it any wealth Not (is) my reward except from Allah And not I am going to drive away those who believed Indeed, they (will) be meeting their Lord but I see you (are) a people ignorant

Verse 30

وَيَـٰقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people
مَنmanWho
يَنصُرُنِىyanṣurunīwould help me
مِنَminaagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
إِنinif
طَرَدتُّهُمْ ۚṭaradttuhumI drove them away
أَفَلَاafalāThen, will not
تَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnayou take heed

Translation

And O my people Who would help me against Allah if I drove them away Then, will not you take heed

Verse 31

وَلَآwalāAnd not
أَقُولُaqūluI say
لَكُمْlakumto you
عِندِىʿindī(that) with me
خَزَآئِنُkhazāinu(are the) treasures
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
وَلَآwalāand not
أَعْلَمُaʿlamuI know
ٱلْغَيْبَl-ghaybathe unseen
وَلَآwalāand not
أَقُولُaqūluI say
إِنِّىinnīthat I am
مَلَكٌۭmalakunan Angel
وَلَآwalāand not
أَقُولُaqūluI say
لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those whom
تَزْدَرِىٓtazdarīlook down upon
أَعْيُنُكُمْaʿyunukumyour eyes
لَنlannever
يُؤْتِيَهُمُyu'tiyahumuwill Allah give them
ٱللَّهُl-lahuwill Allah give them
خَيْرًا ۖkhayranany good
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
أَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows best
بِمَاbimāwhat
فِىٓfī(is) in
أَنفُسِهِمْ ۖanfusihimtheir souls
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
إِذًۭاidhanthen
لَّمِنَlamina(will be) surely of
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers

Translation

And not I say to you (that) with me (are the) treasures (of) Allah and not I know the unseen and not I say that I am an Angel and not I say for those whom look down upon your eyes never will Allah give them will Allah give them any good Allah knows best what (is) in their souls Indeed, I then (will be) surely of the wrongdoers

Verse 32

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
يَـٰنُوحُyānūḥuO Nuh
قَدْqadIndeed
جَـٰدَلْتَنَاjādaltanāyou disputed with us
فَأَكْثَرْتَfa-akthartaand you (have been) frequent
جِدَٰلَنَاjidālanā(in) dispute with us
فَأْتِنَاfatināSo bring us
بِمَاbimāwhat
تَعِدُنَآtaʿidunāyou threaten us (with)
إِنinif
كُنتَkuntayou are
مِنَminaof
ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَl-ṣādiqīnathe truthful

Translation

They said O Nuh Indeed you disputed with us and you (have been) frequent (in) dispute with us So bring us what you threaten us (with) if you are of the truthful

Verse 33

قَالَqālaHe said
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
يَأْتِيكُمyatīkumwill bring it (on) you
بِهِbihiwill bring it (on) you
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
إِنinif
شَآءَshāaHe wills
وَمَآwamāand not
أَنتُمantumyou (are)
بِمُعْجِزِينَbimuʿ'jizīnaone who (can) escape (it)

Translation

He said Only will bring it (on) you will bring it (on) you Allah if He wills and not you (are) one who (can) escape (it)

Verse 34

وَلَاwalāAnd (will) not
يَنفَعُكُمْyanfaʿukumbenefit you
نُصْحِىٓnuṣ'ḥīmy advice
إِنْin(even) if
أَرَدتُّaradttuI wish
أَنْanto
أَنصَحَanṣaḥa[I] advise
لَكُمْlakum[to] you
إِنinif
كَانَkānait was Allah's
ٱللَّهُl-lahuit was Allah's
يُرِيدُyurīduwill
أَنanto
يُغْوِيَكُمْ ۚyugh'wiyakumlet you go astray
هُوَhuwaHe (is)
رَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lord
وَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Him
تُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned

Translation

And (will) not benefit you my advice (even) if I wish to [I] advise [to] you if it was Allah's it was Allah's will to let you go astray He (is) your Lord and to Him you will be returned

Verse 35

أَمْamOr
يَقُولُونَyaqūlūna(do) they say
ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ ۖif'tarāhuHe has invented it
قُلْqulSay
إِنِiniIf
ٱفْتَرَيْتُهُۥif'taraytuhuI have invented it
فَعَلَىَّfaʿalayyathen on me
إِجْرَامِىij'rāmī(is) my crime
وَأَنَا۠wa-anābut I am
بَرِىٓءٌۭbarīoninnocent
مِّمَّاmimmāof what
تُجْرِمُونَtuj'rimūnacrimes you commit

Translation

Or (do) they say He has invented it Say If I have invented it then on me (is) my crime but I am innocent of what crimes you commit

Verse 36

وَأُوحِىَwaūḥiyaAnd it was revealed
إِلَىٰilāto
نُوحٍnūḥinNuh
أَنَّهُۥannahuThat
لَنlanwill never
يُؤْمِنَyu'minabelieve
مِنminfrom
قَوْمِكَqawmikayour people
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَنman(those) who
قَدْqadhave already
ءَامَنَāmanabelieved
فَلَاfalāSo (do) not
تَبْتَئِسْtabta-is(be) distressed
بِمَاbimāby what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey have been
يَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnadoing

Translation

And it was revealed to Nuh That will never believe from your people except (those) who have already believed So (do) not (be) distressed by what they have been doing

Verse 37

وَٱصْنَعِwa-iṣ'naʿiAnd construct
ٱلْفُلْكَl-ful'kathe ship
بِأَعْيُنِنَاbi-aʿyunināunder Our Eyes
وَوَحْيِنَاwawaḥyināand Our inspiration
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تُخَـٰطِبْنِىtukhāṭib'nīaddress Me
فِىfīconcerning
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ظَلَمُوٓا۟ ۚẓalamūwronged
إِنَّهُمinnahumindeed, they (are)
مُّغْرَقُونَmugh'raqūnathe ones (to be) drowned

Translation

And construct the ship under Our Eyes and Our inspiration and (do) not address Me concerning those who wronged indeed, they (are) the ones (to be) drowned

Verse 38

وَيَصْنَعُwayaṣnaʿuAnd he was constructing
ٱلْفُلْكَl-ful'kathe ship
وَكُلَّمَاwakullamāand every time
مَرَّmarrapassed
عَلَيْهِʿalayhiby him
مَلَأٌۭmala-on(the) chiefs
مِّنminof
قَوْمِهِۦqawmihihis people
سَخِرُوا۟sakhirūthey ridiculed
مِنْهُ ۚmin'hu[of] him
قَالَqālaHe said
إِنinIf
تَسْخَرُوا۟taskharūyou ridicule
مِنَّاminnāus
فَإِنَّاfa-innāthen we
نَسْخَرُnaskharucan ridicule
مِنكُمْminkumyou
كَمَاkamāas
تَسْخَرُونَtaskharūnayou ridicule

Translation

And he was constructing the ship and every time passed by him (the) chiefs of his people they ridiculed [of] him He said If you ridicule us then we can ridicule you as you ridicule

Verse 39

فَسَوْفَfasawfaAnd soon
تَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou will know
مَنman(on) whom
يَأْتِيهِyatīhiwill come
عَذَابٌۭʿadhābuna punishment
يُخْزِيهِyukh'zīhi(that) will disgrace him
وَيَحِلُّwayaḥilluand will descend
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion him
عَذَابٌۭʿadhābuna punishment
مُّقِيمٌmuqīmunlasting

Translation

And soon you will know (on) whom will come a punishment (that) will disgrace him and will descend on him a punishment lasting

Verse 40

حَتَّىٰٓḥattāTill
إِذَاidhāwhen
جَآءَjāacame
أَمْرُنَاamrunāOur command
وَفَارَwafāraand overflowed
ٱلتَّنُّورُl-tanūruthe oven
قُلْنَاqul'nāWe said
ٱحْمِلْiḥ'milLoad
فِيهَاfīhāin it
مِنminof
كُلٍّۢkullinevery kind
زَوْجَيْنِzawjaynia pair
ٱثْنَيْنِith'naynitwo
وَأَهْلَكَwa-ahlakaand your family
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَنmanwho
سَبَقَsabaqahas preceded
عَلَيْهِʿalayhiagainst him
ٱلْقَوْلُl-qawluthe word
وَمَنْwamanand whoever
ءَامَنَ ۚāmanabelieved
وَمَآwamāAnd not
ءَامَنَāmanabelieved
مَعَهُۥٓmaʿahuwith him
إِلَّاillāexcept
قَلِيلٌۭqalīluna few

Translation

Till when came Our command and overflowed the oven We said Load in it of every kind a pair two and your family except who has preceded against him the word and whoever believed And not believed with him except a few

Verse 41

۞ وَقَالَwaqālaAnd he said
ٱرْكَبُوا۟ir'kabūEmbark
فِيهَاfīhāin it
بِسْمِbis'miin the name
ٱللَّهِl-lahiof Allah
مَجْر۪ىٰهَاmajrahā(is) its course
وَمُرْسَىٰهَآ ۚwamur'sāhāand its anchorage
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
لَغَفُورٌۭlaghafūrun(is) certainly Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۭraḥīmunMost Merciful

Translation

And he said Embark in it in the name of Allah (is) its course and its anchorage Indeed my Lord (is) certainly Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful

Verse 42

وَهِىَwahiyaAnd it
تَجْرِىtajrīsailed
بِهِمْbihimwith them
فِىfīon
مَوْجٍۢmawjinthe waves
كَٱلْجِبَالِkal-jibālilike mountains
وَنَادَىٰwanādāand Nuh called out
نُوحٌnūḥunand Nuh called out
ٱبْنَهُۥib'nahu(to) his son
وَكَانَwakānaand he was
فِىfī[in]
مَعْزِلٍۢmaʿzilinapart
يَـٰبُنَىَّyābunayyaO my son
ٱرْكَبir'kabEmbark
مَّعَنَاmaʿanāwith us
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَكُنtakunbe
مَّعَmaʿawith
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers

Translation

And it sailed with them on the waves like mountains and Nuh called out and Nuh called out (to) his son and he was [in] apart O my son Embark with us and (do) not be with the disbelievers

Verse 43

قَالَqālaHe said
سَـَٔاوِىٓsaāwīI will betake myself
إِلَىٰilāto
جَبَلٍۢjabalina mountain
يَعْصِمُنِىyaʿṣimunī(that) will save me
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْمَآءِ ۚl-māithe water
قَالَqālaHe said
لَاlā(There is) no
عَاصِمَʿāṣimaprotector
ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmatoday
مِنْminfrom
أَمْرِamrithe Command of Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahithe Command of Allah
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَنman(on) whom
رَّحِمَ ۚraḥimaHe has mercy
وَحَالَwaḥālaAnd came
بَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā(in) between them
ٱلْمَوْجُl-mawjuthe waves
فَكَانَfakānaso he was
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْمُغْرَقِينَl-mugh'raqīnathe drowned

Translation

He said I will betake myself to a mountain (that) will save me from the water He said (There is) no protector today from the Command of Allah the Command of Allah except (on) whom He has mercy And came (in) between them the waves so he was among the drowned

Verse 44

وَقِيلَwaqīlaAnd it was said
يَـٰٓأَرْضُyāarḍuO earth
ٱبْلَعِىib'laʿīSwallow
مَآءَكِmāakiyour water
وَيَـٰسَمَآءُwayāsamāuand O sky
أَقْلِعِىaqliʿīWithhold
وَغِيضَwaghīḍaAnd subsided
ٱلْمَآءُl-māuthe water
وَقُضِىَwaquḍiyaand was fulfilled
ٱلْأَمْرُl-amruthe Command
وَٱسْتَوَتْwa-is'tawatAnd it rested
عَلَىʿalāon
ٱلْجُودِىِّ ۖl-jūdiyithe Judi
وَقِيلَwaqīlaAnd it was said
بُعْدًۭاbuʿ'danAway
لِّلْقَوْمِlil'qawmiwith the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers

Translation

And it was said O earth Swallow your water and O sky Withhold And subsided the water and was fulfilled the Command And it rested on the Judi And it was said Away with the people the wrongdoers

Verse 45

وَنَادَىٰwanādāAnd Nuh called
نُوحٌۭnūḥunAnd Nuh called
رَّبَّهُۥrabbahu(to) his Lord
فَقَالَfaqālaand said
رَبِّrabbiO my Lord
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱبْنِىib'nīmy son
مِنْmin(is) of
أَهْلِىahlīmy family
وَإِنَّwa-innaand indeed
وَعْدَكَwaʿdakaYour promise
ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) true
وَأَنتَwa-antaand You
أَحْكَمُaḥkamu(are) the Most Just
ٱلْحَـٰكِمِينَl-ḥākimīna(of) the judges

Translation

And Nuh called And Nuh called (to) his Lord and said O my Lord Indeed my son (is) of my family and indeed Your promise (is) true and You (are) the Most Just (of) the judges

Verse 46

قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰنُوحُyānūḥuO Nuh
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
لَيْسَlaysa(is) not
مِنْminof
أَهْلِكَ ۖahlikayour family
إِنَّهُۥinnahuindeed, [he]
عَمَلٌʿamalun(his) deed
غَيْرُghayru(is) other than
صَـٰلِحٍۢ ۖṣāliḥinrighteous
فَلَاfalāso (do) not
تَسْـَٔلْنِtasalniask Me
مَاmā(about) what
لَيْسَlaysanot
لَكَlakayou have
بِهِۦbihiof it
عِلْمٌ ۖʿil'munany knowledge
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أَعِظُكَaʿiẓukaadmonish you
أَنanlest
تَكُونَtakūnayou be
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَl-jāhilīnathe ignorant

Translation

He said O Nuh Indeed, he (is) not of your family indeed, [he] (his) deed (is) other than righteous so (do) not ask Me (about) what not you have of it any knowledge Indeed, I admonish you lest you be among the ignorant

Verse 47

قَالَqālaHe said
رَبِّrabbiO my Lord
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أَعُوذُaʿūdhuseek refuge
بِكَbikain You
أَنْanthat
أَسْـَٔلَكَasalakaI (should) ask You
مَاmāwhat
لَيْسَlaysanot
لِىlīI have
بِهِۦbihiof it
عِلْمٌۭ ۖʿil'munknowledge
وَإِلَّاwa-illāAnd unless
تَغْفِرْtaghfirYou forgive
لِىlīme
وَتَرْحَمْنِىٓwatarḥamnīand You have mercy on me
أَكُنakunI will be
مِّنَminaamong
ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَl-khāsirīnathe losers

Translation

He said O my Lord Indeed, I seek refuge in You that I (should) ask You what not I have of it knowledge And unless You forgive me and You have mercy on me I will be among the losers

Verse 48

قِيلَqīlaIt was said
يَـٰنُوحُyānūḥuO Nuh
ٱهْبِطْih'biṭGo down
بِسَلَـٰمٍۢbisalāminwith peace
مِّنَّاminnāfrom Us
وَبَرَكَـٰتٍwabarakātinand blessings
عَلَيْكَʿalaykaon you
وَعَلَىٰٓwaʿalāand on
أُمَمٍۢumaminthe nations
مِّمَّنmimmanfrom those
مَّعَكَ ۚmaʿakawith you
وَأُمَمٌۭwa-umamunBut (to other) nations
سَنُمَتِّعُهُمْsanumattiʿuhumWe will grant enjoyment
ثُمَّthummathen
يَمَسُّهُمyamassuhumwill touch them
مِّنَّاminnāfrom Us
عَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishment
أَلِيمٌۭalīmunpainful

Translation

It was said O Nuh Go down with peace from Us and blessings on you and on the nations from those with you But (to other) nations We will grant enjoyment then will touch them from Us a punishment painful

Verse 49

تِلْكَtil'kaThis
مِنْmin(is) from
أَنۢبَآءِanbāithe news
ٱلْغَيْبِl-ghaybi(of) the unseen
نُوحِيهَآnūḥīhā(which) We reveal
إِلَيْكَ ۖilaykato you
مَاmāNot
كُنتَkuntayou were
تَعْلَمُهَآtaʿlamuhāknowing it
أَنتَantayou
وَلَاwalāand not
قَوْمُكَqawmukayour people
مِنminfrom
قَبْلِqablibefore
هَـٰذَا ۖhādhāthis
فَٱصْبِرْ ۖfa-iṣ'birSo be patient
إِنَّinnaindeed
ٱلْعَـٰقِبَةَl-ʿāqibatathe end
لِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīna(is) for the God fearing

Translation

This (is) from the news (of) the unseen (which) We reveal to you Not you were knowing it you and not your people from before this So be patient indeed the end (is) for the God fearing

Verse 50

وَإِلَىٰwa-ilāAnd to
عَادٍʿādinAad
أَخَاهُمْakhāhum(We sent) their brother
هُودًۭا ۚhūdanHud
قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
ٱعْبُدُوا۟uʿ'budūWorship
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
مَاmānot
لَكُمlakum(is) for you
مِّنْminany
إِلَـٰهٍilāhingod
غَيْرُهُۥٓ ۖghayruhuother than Him
إِنْinNot
أَنتُمْantumyou
إِلَّاillā(are) but
مُفْتَرُونَmuf'tarūnainventors

Translation

And to Aad (We sent) their brother Hud He said O my people Worship Allah not (is) for you any god other than Him Not you (are) but inventors

Verse 51

يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
لَآlāNot
أَسْـَٔلُكُمْasalukumI ask you
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor it
أَجْرًا ۖajranany reward
إِنْinNot
أَجْرِىَajriya(is) my reward
إِلَّاillāexcept
عَلَىʿalāfrom
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One Who
فَطَرَنِىٓ ۚfaṭaranīcreated me
أَفَلَاafalāThen will not
تَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnayou use reason

Translation

O my people Not I ask you for it any reward Not (is) my reward except from the One Who created me Then will not you use reason

Verse 52

وَيَـٰقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people
ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟is'taghfirūAsk forgiveness
رَبَّكُمْrabbakum(of) your Lord
ثُمَّthummathen
تُوبُوٓا۟tūbūturn in repentance
إِلَيْهِilayhito Him
يُرْسِلِyur'siliHe will send
ٱلسَّمَآءَl-samāa(from) the sky (rain)
عَلَيْكُمʿalaykumupon you
مِّدْرَارًۭاmid'rāran(in) abundance
وَيَزِدْكُمْwayazid'kumand increase you
قُوَّةًquwwatan(in) strength
إِلَىٰilā(added) to
قُوَّتِكُمْquwwatikumyour strength
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَتَوَلَّوْا۟tatawallawturn away
مُجْرِمِينَmuj'rimīna(as) criminals

Translation

And O my people Ask forgiveness (of) your Lord then turn in repentance to Him He will send (from) the sky (rain) upon you (in) abundance and increase you (in) strength (added) to your strength And (do) not turn away (as) criminals

Verse 53

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
يَـٰهُودُyāhūduO Hud
مَاmāYou have not brought us
جِئْتَنَاji'tanāYou have not brought us
بِبَيِّنَةٍۢbibayyinatinclear proofs
وَمَاwamāand not
نَحْنُnaḥnuwe
بِتَارِكِىٓbitārikī(will) leave
ءَالِهَتِنَاālihatināour gods
عَنʿanon
قَوْلِكَqawlikayour saying
وَمَاwamāand not
نَحْنُnaḥnuwe (are)
لَكَlakain you
بِمُؤْمِنِينَbimu'minīnabelievers

Translation

They said O Hud You have not brought us You have not brought us clear proofs and not we (will) leave our gods on your saying and not we (are) in you believers

Verse 54

إِنinNot
نَّقُولُnaqūluwe say
إِلَّاillāexcept (that)
ٱعْتَرَىٰكَiʿ'tarākahave seized you
بَعْضُbaʿḍusome
ءَالِهَتِنَاālihatinā(of) our gods
بِسُوٓءٍۢ ۗbisūinwith evil
قَالَqālaHe said
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أُشْهِدُush'hidu[I] call Allah to witness
ٱللَّهَl-laha[I] call Allah to witness
وَٱشْهَدُوٓا۟wa-ish'hadūand (you) bear witness
أَنِّىannīthat I am
بَرِىٓءٌۭbarīoninnocent
مِّمَّاmimmāof what
تُشْرِكُونَtush'rikūnayou associate

Translation

Not we say except (that) have seized you some (of) our gods with evil He said Indeed, I [I] call Allah to witness [I] call Allah to witness and (you) bear witness that I am innocent of what you associate

Verse 55

مِنminOther than Him
دُونِهِۦ ۖdūnihiOther than Him
فَكِيدُونِىfakīdūnīSo plot against me
جَمِيعًۭاjamīʿanall together
ثُمَّthummathen
لَاlā(do) not
تُنظِرُونِtunẓirūnigive me respite

Translation

Other than Him Other than Him So plot against me all together then (do) not give me respite

Verse 56

إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I
تَوَكَّلْتُtawakkaltu[I] put my trust
عَلَىʿalāupon
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
وَرَبِّكُم ۚwarabbikumand your Lord
مَّاmā(There is) not
مِنminof a moving creature
دَآبَّةٍdābbatinof a moving creature
إِلَّاillābut
هُوَhuwaHe
ءَاخِذٌۢākhidhunhas grasp
بِنَاصِيَتِهَآ ۚbināṣiyatihāof its forelock
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
عَلَىٰʿalā(is) on
صِرَٰطٍۢṣirāṭina path
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢmus'taqīminstraight

Translation

Indeed, I [I] put my trust upon Allah my Lord and your Lord (There is) not of a moving creature of a moving creature but He has grasp of its forelock Indeed my Lord (is) on a path straight

Verse 57

فَإِنfa-inSo if
تَوَلَّوْا۟tawallawyou turn away
فَقَدْfaqadthen verily
أَبْلَغْتُكُمablaghtukumI have conveyed to you
مَّآmāwhat
أُرْسِلْتُur'sil'tuI was sent
بِهِۦٓbihiwith [it]
إِلَيْكُمْ ۚilaykumto you
وَيَسْتَخْلِفُwayastakhlifuAnd my Lord will give succession
رَبِّىrabbīAnd my Lord will give succession
قَوْمًاqawman(to) a people
غَيْرَكُمْghayrakumother than you
وَلَاwalāand not
تَضُرُّونَهُۥtaḍurrūnahuyou will harm Him
شَيْـًٔا ۚshayan(in) anything
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
عَلَىٰʿalā(is) on
كُلِّkulliall
شَىْءٍshayinthings
حَفِيظٌۭḥafīẓuna Guardian

Translation

So if you turn away then verily I have conveyed to you what I was sent with [it] to you And my Lord will give succession And my Lord will give succession (to) a people other than you and not you will harm Him (in) anything Indeed my Lord (is) on all things a Guardian

Verse 58

وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd when
جَآءَjāacame
أَمْرُنَاamrunāOur command
نَجَّيْنَاnajjaynāWe saved
هُودًۭاhūdanHud
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieved
مَعَهُۥmaʿahuwith him
بِرَحْمَةٍۢbiraḥmatinby a Mercy
مِّنَّاminnāfrom Us
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمwanajjaynāhumand We saved them
مِّنْminfrom
عَذَابٍʿadhābina punishment
غَلِيظٍۢghalīẓinsevere

Translation

And when came Our command We saved Hud and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us and We saved them from a punishment severe

Verse 59

وَتِلْكَwatil'kaAnd this
عَادٌۭ ۖʿādun(was) Aad
جَحَدُوا۟jaḥadūthey rejected
بِـَٔايَـٰتِbiāyāti(the) Signs
رَبِّهِمْrabbihim(of) their Lord
وَعَصَوْا۟waʿaṣawand disobeyed
رُسُلَهُۥrusulahuHis Messengers
وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟wa-ittabaʿūand followed
أَمْرَamra(the) command
كُلِّkulli(of) every
جَبَّارٍjabbārintyrant
عَنِيدٍۢʿanīdinobstinate

Translation

And this (was) Aad they rejected (the) Signs (of) their Lord and disobeyed His Messengers and followed (the) command (of) every tyrant obstinate

Verse 60

وَأُتْبِعُوا۟wa-ut'biʿūAnd they were followed
فِىfīin
هَـٰذِهِhādhihithis
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāworld
لَعْنَةًۭlaʿnatan(with) a curse
وَيَوْمَwayawmaand (on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
أَلَآalāNo doubt
إِنَّinnaIndeed
عَادًۭاʿādanAad
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieved
رَبَّهُمْ ۗrabbahumtheir Lord
أَلَاalāSo
بُعْدًۭاbuʿ'danaway
لِّعَادٍۢliʿādinwith Aad
قَوْمِqawmi(the) people
هُودٍۢhūdin(of) Hud

Translation

And they were followed in this world (with) a curse and (on the) Day (of) the Resurrection No doubt Indeed Aad disbelieved their Lord So away with Aad (the) people (of) Hud

Verse 61

۞ وَإِلَىٰwa-ilāAnd to
ثَمُودَthamūdaThamud
أَخَاهُمْakhāhum(We sent) their brother
صَـٰلِحًۭا ۚṣāliḥanSalih
قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
ٱعْبُدُوا۟uʿ'budūWorship
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
مَاmānot
لَكُمlakumyou have
مِّنْminany
إِلَـٰهٍilāhingod
غَيْرُهُۥ ۖghayruhuother than Him
هُوَhuwaHe
أَنشَأَكُمansha-akumproduced you
مِّنَminafrom
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
وَٱسْتَعْمَرَكُمْwa-is'taʿmarakumand settled you
فِيهَاfīhāin it
فَٱسْتَغْفِرُوهُfa-is'taghfirūhuSo ask forgiveness of Him
ثُمَّthummathen
تُوبُوٓا۟tūbūturn in repentance
إِلَيْهِ ۚilayhito Him
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
قَرِيبٌۭqarībun(is) near
مُّجِيبٌۭmujībunAll-Responsive

Translation

And to Thamud (We sent) their brother Salih He said O my people Worship Allah not you have any god other than Him He produced you from the earth and settled you in it So ask forgiveness of Him then turn in repentance to Him Indeed my Lord (is) near All-Responsive

Verse 62

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
يَـٰصَـٰلِحُyāṣāliḥuO Salih
قَدْqadVerily
كُنتَkuntayou were
فِينَاfīnāamong us
مَرْجُوًّۭاmarjuwwanthe one in whom hope was placed
قَبْلَqablabefore
هَـٰذَآ ۖhādhāthis
أَتَنْهَىٰنَآatanhānāDo you forbid us
أَنanthat
نَّعْبُدَnaʿbudawe worship
مَاmāwhat
يَعْبُدُyaʿbuduour forefathers worshipped
ءَابَآؤُنَاābāunāour forefathers worshipped
وَإِنَّنَاwa-innanāAnd indeed we
لَفِىlafīsurely (are) in
شَكٍّۢshakkindoubt
مِّمَّاmimmāabout what
تَدْعُونَآtadʿūnāyou call us
إِلَيْهِilayhito it
مُرِيبٍۢmurībinsuspicious

Translation

They said O Salih Verily you were among us the one in whom hope was placed before this Do you forbid us that we worship what our forefathers worshipped our forefathers worshipped And indeed we surely (are) in doubt about what you call us to it suspicious

Verse 63

قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
أَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumDo you see
إِنinif
كُنتُkuntuI am
عَلَىٰʿalāon
بَيِّنَةٍۢbayyinatina clear proof
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّىrabbīmy Lord
وَءَاتَىٰنِىwaātānīand He has given me
مِنْهُmin'hufrom Him
رَحْمَةًۭraḥmatana Mercy
فَمَنfamanthen who
يَنصُرُنِىyanṣurunī(can) help me
مِنَminaagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
إِنْinif
عَصَيْتُهُۥ ۖʿaṣaytuhuI (were to) disobey Him
فَمَاfamāSo not
تَزِيدُونَنِىtazīdūnanīyou would increase me
غَيْرَghayrabut
تَخْسِيرٍۢtakhsīrin(in) loss

Translation

He said O my people Do you see if I am on a clear proof from my Lord and He has given me from Him a Mercy then who (can) help me against Allah if I (were to) disobey Him So not you would increase me but (in) loss

Verse 64

وَيَـٰقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people
هَـٰذِهِۦhādhihiThis
نَاقَةُnāqatushe-camel
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
لَكُمْlakum(is) for you
ءَايَةًۭāyatana Sign
فَذَرُوهَاfadharūhāso leave her
تَأْكُلْtakulto eat
فِىٓfīin
أَرْضِarḍithe earth
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَمَسُّوهَاtamassūhātouch her
بِسُوٓءٍۢbisūinwith harm
فَيَأْخُذَكُمْfayakhudhakumlest will seize you
عَذَابٌۭʿadhābuna punishment
قَرِيبٌۭqarībunimpending

Translation

And O my people This she-camel (of) Allah (is) for you a Sign so leave her to eat in the earth (of) Allah and (do) not touch her with harm lest will seize you a punishment impending

Verse 65

فَعَقَرُوهَاfaʿaqarūhāBut they hamstrung her
فَقَالَfaqālaSo he said
تَمَتَّعُوا۟tamattaʿūEnjoy (yourselves)
فِىfīin
دَارِكُمْdārikumyour home(s)
ثَلَـٰثَةَthalāthata(for) three
أَيَّامٍۢ ۖayyāmindays
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
وَعْدٌwaʿdun(is) a promise
غَيْرُghayrunot
مَكْذُوبٍۢmakdhūbin(to) be belied

Translation

But they hamstrung her So he said Enjoy (yourselves) in your home(s) (for) three days That (is) a promise not (to) be belied

Verse 66

فَلَمَّاfalammāSo when
جَآءَjāacame
أَمْرُنَاamrunāOur command
نَجَّيْنَاnajjaynāWe saved
صَـٰلِحًۭاṣāliḥanSalih
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieved
مَعَهُۥmaʿahuwith him
بِرَحْمَةٍۢbiraḥmatinby a Mercy
مِّنَّاminnāfrom Us
وَمِنْwaminand from
خِزْىِkhiz'yi(the) disgrace
يَوْمِئِذٍ ۗyawmi-idhin(of) that Day
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلْقَوِىُّl-qawiyu(is) All-Strong
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuAll-Mighty

Translation

So when came Our command We saved Salih and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us and from (the) disgrace (of) that Day Indeed your Lord He (is) All-Strong All-Mighty

Verse 67

وَأَخَذَwa-akhadhaAnd seized
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ظَلَمُوا۟ẓalamūwronged
ٱلصَّيْحَةُl-ṣayḥatuthe thunderous blast
فَأَصْبَحُوا۟fa-aṣbaḥūthen they became
فِىfīin
دِيَـٰرِهِمْdiyārihimtheir homes
جَـٰثِمِينَjāthimīnafallen prone

Translation

And seized those who wronged the thunderous blast then they became in their homes fallen prone

Verse 68

كَأَنka-anAs if
لَّمْlamnot
يَغْنَوْا۟yaghnawthey (had) prospered
فِيهَآ ۗfīhātherein
أَلَآalāNo doubt
إِنَّinnaindeed
ثَمُودَا۟thamūdāThamud
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieved
رَبَّهُمْ ۗrabbahum(in) their Lord
أَلَاalāso
بُعْدًۭاbuʿ'danaway
لِّثَمُودَlithamūdawith Thamud

Translation

As if not they (had) prospered therein No doubt indeed Thamud disbelieved (in) their Lord so away with Thamud

Verse 69

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainly
جَآءَتْjāatcame
رُسُلُنَآrusulunāOur messengers
إِبْرَٰهِيمَib'rāhīma(to) Ibrahim
بِٱلْبُشْرَىٰbil-bush'rāwith glad tidings
قَالُوا۟qālūthey said
سَلَـٰمًۭا ۖsalāmanPeace
قَالَqālaHe said
سَلَـٰمٌۭ ۖsalāmunPeace
فَمَاfamāand not he delayed
لَبِثَlabithaand not he delayed
أَنanto
جَآءَjāabring
بِعِجْلٍbiʿij'lina calf
حَنِيذٍۢḥanīdhinroasted

Translation

And certainly came Our messengers (to) Ibrahim with glad tidings they said Peace He said Peace and not he delayed and not he delayed to bring a calf roasted

Verse 70

فَلَمَّاfalammāBut when
رَءَآraāhe saw
أَيْدِيَهُمْaydiyahumtheir hands
لَاlānot
تَصِلُtaṣilureaching
إِلَيْهِilayhito it
نَكِرَهُمْnakirahumhe felt unfamiliar of them
وَأَوْجَسَwa-awjasaand felt apprehension
مِنْهُمْmin'humfrom them
خِيفَةًۭ ۚkhīfatan[a fear]
قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
لَاlā(Do) not
تَخَفْtakhaffear
إِنَّآinnāIndeed, we
أُرْسِلْنَآur'sil'nā[we] have been sent
إِلَىٰilāto
قَوْمِqawmi(the) people
لُوطٍۢlūṭin(of) Lut

Translation

But when he saw their hands not reaching to it he felt unfamiliar of them and felt apprehension from them [a fear] They said (Do) not fear Indeed, we [we] have been sent to (the) people (of) Lut

Verse 71

وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥwa-im'ra-atuhuAnd his wife
قَآئِمَةٌۭqāimatun(was) standing
فَضَحِكَتْfaḍaḥikatand she laughed
فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهَاfabasharnāhāThen We gave her glad tidings
بِإِسْحَـٰقَbi-is'ḥāqaof Isaac
وَمِنwaminand after
وَرَآءِwarāiand after
إِسْحَـٰقَis'ḥāqaIsaac
يَعْقُوبَyaʿqūba(of) Yaqub

Translation

And his wife (was) standing and she laughed Then We gave her glad tidings of Isaac and after and after Isaac (of) Yaqub

Verse 72

قَالَتْqālatShe said
يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓyāwaylatāWoe to me
ءَأَلِدُa-aliduShall I bear a child
وَأَنَا۠wa-anāwhile I am
عَجُوزٌۭʿajūzunan old woman
وَهَـٰذَاwahādhāand this
بَعْلِىbaʿlīmy husband
شَيْخًا ۖshaykhan(is) an old man
إِنَّinnaIndeed
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
لَشَىْءٌlashayon(is) surely a thing
عَجِيبٌۭʿajībunamazing

Translation

She said Woe to me Shall I bear a child while I am an old woman and this my husband (is) an old man Indeed this (is) surely a thing amazing

Verse 73

قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey said
أَتَعْجَبِينَataʿjabīnaAre you amazed
مِنْminat
أَمْرِamri(the) decree of Allah
ٱللَّهِ ۖl-lahi(the) decree of Allah
رَحْمَتُraḥmatuThe Mercy of Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahiThe Mercy of Allah
وَبَرَكَـٰتُهُۥwabarakātuhuand His blessings
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykum(be) upon you
أَهْلَahlapeople
ٱلْبَيْتِ ۚl-bayti(of) the house
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
حَمِيدٌۭḥamīdun(is) All-Praiseworthy
مَّجِيدٌۭmajīdunAll-Glorious

Translation

They said Are you amazed at (the) decree of Allah (the) decree of Allah The Mercy of Allah The Mercy of Allah and His blessings (be) upon you people (of) the house Indeed, He (is) All-Praiseworthy All-Glorious

Verse 74

فَلَمَّاfalammāAnd when
ذَهَبَdhahaba(had) gone away
عَنْʿanfrom
إِبْرَٰهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahim
ٱلرَّوْعُl-rawʿuthe fright
وَجَآءَتْهُwajāathuand had reached him
ٱلْبُشْرَىٰl-bush'rāthe glad tidings
يُجَـٰدِلُنَاyujādilunāhe argued with Us
فِىfīconcerning
قَوْمِqawmithe people
لُوطٍlūṭinof Lut

Translation

And when (had) gone away from Ibrahim the fright and had reached him the glad tidings he argued with Us concerning the people of Lut

Verse 75

إِنَّinnaIndeed
إِبْرَٰهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahim
لَحَلِيمٌlaḥalīmun(was) certainly forbearing
أَوَّٰهٌۭawwāhunimploring
مُّنِيبٌۭmunībunand oft-returning

Translation

Indeed Ibrahim (was) certainly forbearing imploring and oft-returning

Verse 76

يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُyāib'rāhīmuO Ibrahim
أَعْرِضْaʿriḍTurn away
عَنْʿanfrom
هَـٰذَآ ۖhādhāthis
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, it
قَدْqadcertainly
جَآءَjāahas come
أَمْرُamru(the) Command
رَبِّكَ ۖrabbika(of) your Lord
وَإِنَّهُمْwa-innahumand indeed, [they]
ءَاتِيهِمْātīhim(will) come (for) them
عَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishment
غَيْرُghayru(which) cannot
مَرْدُودٍۢmardūdin(be) repelled

Translation

O Ibrahim Turn away from this Indeed, it certainly has come (the) Command (of) your Lord and indeed, [they] (will) come (for) them a punishment (which) cannot (be) repelled

Verse 77

وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd when
جَآءَتْjāatcame
رُسُلُنَاrusulunāOur messengers
لُوطًۭاlūṭan(to) Lut
سِىٓءَsīahe was distressed
بِهِمْbihimfor them
وَضَاقَwaḍāqaand felt straitened
بِهِمْbihimfor them
ذَرْعًۭاdharʿan(and) uneasy
وَقَالَwaqālaand said
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
يَوْمٌyawmun(is) a day
عَصِيبٌۭʿaṣībundistressful

Translation

And when came Our messengers (to) Lut he was distressed for them and felt straitened for them (and) uneasy and said This (is) a day distressful

Verse 78

وَجَآءَهُۥwajāahuAnd came (to) him
قَوْمُهُۥqawmuhuhis people
يُهْرَعُونَyuh'raʿūnarushing
إِلَيْهِilayhito him
وَمِنwaminand before
قَبْلُqabluand before
كَانُوا۟kānūthey (had) been
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnadoing
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ ۚl-sayiātithe evil deeds
قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāiThese
بَنَاتِىbanātī(are) my daughters
هُنَّhunnathey
أَطْهَرُaṭharu(are) purer
لَكُمْ ۖlakumfor you
فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqūSo fear
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تُخْزُونِtukh'zūnidisgrace me
فِىfīconcerning
ضَيْفِىٓ ۖḍayfīmy guests
أَلَيْسَalaysaIs (there) not
مِنكُمْminkumamong you
رَجُلٌۭrajuluna man
رَّشِيدٌۭrashīdunright-minded

Translation

And came (to) him his people rushing to him and before and before they (had) been doing the evil deeds He said O my people These (are) my daughters they (are) purer for you So fear Allah and (do) not disgrace me concerning my guests Is (there) not among you a man right-minded

Verse 79

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
لَقَدْlaqadVerily
عَلِمْتَʿalim'tayou know
مَاmā(that) not
لَنَاlanāwe have
فِىfīconcerning
بَنَاتِكَbanātikayour daughters
مِنْminany
حَقٍّۢḥaqqinright
وَإِنَّكَwa-innakaAnd indeed, you
لَتَعْلَمُlataʿlamusurely know
مَاmāwhat
نُرِيدُnurīduwe want

Translation

They said Verily you know (that) not we have concerning your daughters any right And indeed, you surely know what we want

Verse 80

قَالَqālaHe said
لَوْlawIf
أَنَّannathat
لِىlīI had
بِكُمْbikumover you
قُوَّةًquwwatanpower
أَوْawor
ءَاوِىٓāwīI could take refuge
إِلَىٰilāin
رُكْنٍۢruk'nina support
شَدِيدٍۢshadīdinstrong

Translation

He said If that I had over you power or I could take refuge in a support strong

Verse 81

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
يَـٰلُوطُyālūṭuO Lut
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
رُسُلُrusulu(are) messengers
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
لَنlannever
يَصِلُوٓا۟yaṣilūthey will reach
إِلَيْكَ ۖilaykayou
فَأَسْرِfa-asriSo travel
بِأَهْلِكَbi-ahlikawith your family
بِقِطْعٍۢbiqiṭ'ʿinin a part
مِّنَminaof
ٱلَّيْلِal-laylithe night
وَلَاwalāand (let) not
يَلْتَفِتْyaltafitlook back
مِنكُمْminkumanyone of you
أَحَدٌaḥadunanyone of you
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱمْرَأَتَكَ ۖim'ra-atakayour wife
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, it
مُصِيبُهَاmuṣībuhāwill strike her
مَآmāwhat
أَصَابَهُمْ ۚaṣābahumwill strike them
إِنَّinnaIndeed
مَوْعِدَهُمُmawʿidahumutheir appointed time
ٱلصُّبْحُ ۚl-ṣub'ḥu(is) morning
أَلَيْسَalaysaIs not
ٱلصُّبْحُl-ṣub'ḥuthe morning
بِقَرِيبٍۢbiqarībinnear

Translation

They said O Lut Indeed, we (are) messengers (of) your Lord never they will reach you So travel with your family in a part of the night and (let) not look back anyone of you anyone of you except your wife Indeed, it will strike her what will strike them Indeed their appointed time (is) morning Is not the morning near

Verse 82

فَلَمَّاfalammāSo when
جَآءَjāacame
أَمْرُنَاamrunāOur Command
جَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe made
عَـٰلِيَهَاʿāliyahāits upside
سَافِلَهَاsāfilahāits downside
وَأَمْطَرْنَاwa-amṭarnāand We rained
عَلَيْهَاʿalayhāupon them
حِجَارَةًۭḥijāratanstones
مِّنminof
سِجِّيلٍۢsijjīlinbaked clay
مَّنضُودٍۢmanḍūdin(in) layers

Translation

So when came Our Command We made its upside its downside and We rained upon them stones of baked clay (in) layers

Verse 83

مُّسَوَّمَةًmusawwamatanMarked
عِندَʿindafrom
رَبِّكَ ۖrabbikayour Lord
وَمَاwamāAnd not
هِىَhiyait
مِنَmina(is) from
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
بِبَعِيدٍۢbibaʿīdinfar

Translation

Marked from your Lord And not it (is) from the wrongdoers far

Verse 84

۞ وَإِلَىٰwa-ilāAnd to
مَدْيَنَmadyanaMadyan
أَخَاهُمْakhāhumtheir brother
شُعَيْبًۭا ۚshuʿaybanShuaib
قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
ٱعْبُدُوا۟uʿ'budūWorship
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
مَاmānot
لَكُمlakum(is) for you
مِّنْminany
إِلَـٰهٍilāhingod
غَيْرُهُۥ ۖghayruhuother than Him
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَنقُصُوا۟tanquṣūdecrease
ٱلْمِكْيَالَl-mik'yāla(from) the measure
وَٱلْمِيزَانَ ۚwal-mīzānaand the scale
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أَرَىٰكُمarākumsee you
بِخَيْرٍۢbikhayrinin prosperity
وَإِنِّىٓwa-innībut indeed, I
أَخَافُakhāfufear
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor you
عَذَابَʿadhābapunishment
يَوْمٍۢyawmin(of) a Day
مُّحِيطٍۢmuḥīṭinall-encompassing

Translation

And to Madyan their brother Shuaib He said O my people Worship Allah not (is) for you any god other than Him And (do) not decrease (from) the measure and the scale Indeed, I see you in prosperity but indeed, I fear for you punishment (of) a Day all-encompassing

Verse 85

وَيَـٰقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people
أَوْفُوا۟awfūGive full
ٱلْمِكْيَالَl-mik'yālameasure
وَٱلْمِيزَانَwal-mīzānaand weight
بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۖbil-qis'ṭiin justice
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَبْخَسُوا۟tabkhasūdeprive
ٱلنَّاسَl-nāsathe people
أَشْيَآءَهُمْashyāahum(of) their things
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَعْثَوْا۟taʿthawact wickedly
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
مُفْسِدِينَmuf'sidīnaspreading corruption

Translation

And O my people Give full measure and weight in justice and (do) not deprive the people (of) their things and (do) not act wickedly in the earth spreading corruption

Verse 86

بَقِيَّتُbaqiyyatu(What) remains
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(from) Allah
خَيْرٌۭkhayrun(is) best
لَّكُمْlakumfor you
إِنinif
كُنتُمkuntumyou are
مُّؤْمِنِينَ ۚmu'minīnabelievers
وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَنَا۠anāI am
عَلَيْكُمʿalaykumover you
بِحَفِيظٍۢbiḥafīẓina guardian

Translation

(What) remains (from) Allah (is) best for you if you are believers And not I am over you a guardian

Verse 87

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
يَـٰشُعَيْبُyāshuʿaybuO Shuaib
أَصَلَوٰتُكَaṣalatukaDoes your prayer
تَأْمُرُكَtamurukacommand you
أَنanthat
نَّتْرُكَnatrukawe leave
مَاmāwhat
يَعْبُدُyaʿbuduworship
ءَابَآؤُنَآābāunāour forefathers
أَوْawor
أَنanthat
نَّفْعَلَnafʿalawe do
فِىٓfīconcerning
أَمْوَٰلِنَاamwālināour wealth
مَاmāwhat
نَشَـٰٓؤُا۟ ۖnashāuwe will
إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed you
لَأَنتَla-antasurely you
ٱلْحَلِيمُl-ḥalīmu(are) the forbearing
ٱلرَّشِيدُl-rashīduthe right-minded

Translation

They said O Shuaib Does your prayer command you that we leave what worship our forefathers or that we do concerning our wealth what we will Indeed you surely you (are) the forbearing the right-minded

Verse 88

قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
أَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumDo you see
إِنinif
كُنتُkuntuI am
عَلَىٰʿalāon
بَيِّنَةٍۢbayyinatina clear evidence
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّىrabbīmy Lord
وَرَزَقَنِىwarazaqanīand He has provided me
مِنْهُmin'hufrom Himself
رِزْقًاriz'qana good provision
حَسَنًۭا ۚḥasanana good provision
وَمَآwamāAnd not
أُرِيدُurīduI intend
أَنْanthat
أُخَالِفَكُمْukhālifakumI differ from you
إِلَىٰilāin
مَآmāwhat
أَنْهَىٰكُمْanhākumI forbid you
عَنْهُ ۚʿanhufrom it
إِنْinNot
أُرِيدُurīduI intend
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلْإِصْلَـٰحَl-iṣ'lāḥathe reform
مَاmāas much as I am able
ٱسْتَطَعْتُ ۚis'taṭaʿtuas much as I am able
وَمَاwamāAnd not
تَوْفِيقِىٓtawfīqī(is) my success
إِلَّاillāexcept
بِٱللَّهِ ۚbil-lahiwith Allah
عَلَيْهِʿalayhiUpon Him
تَوَكَّلْتُtawakkaltuI trust
وَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Him
أُنِيبُunībuI turn

Translation

He said O my people Do you see if I am on a clear evidence from my Lord and He has provided me from Himself a good provision a good provision And not I intend that I differ from you in what I forbid you from it Not I intend except the reform as much as I am able as much as I am able And not (is) my success except with Allah Upon Him I trust and to Him I turn

Verse 89

وَيَـٰقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people
لَاlā(Let) not cause you to sin
يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْyajrimannakum(Let) not cause you to sin
شِقَاقِىٓshiqāqīmy dissension
أَنanlest
يُصِيبَكُمyuṣībakumbefalls you
مِّثْلُmith'lusimilar
مَآmā(to) what
أَصَابَaṣābabefell
قَوْمَqawma(the) people of Nuh
نُوحٍnūḥin(the) people of Nuh
أَوْawor
قَوْمَqawma(the) people of Hud
هُودٍhūdin(the) people of Hud
أَوْawor
قَوْمَqawmapeople of Salih
صَـٰلِحٍۢ ۚṣāliḥinpeople of Salih
وَمَاwamāAnd not
قَوْمُqawmu(are the) people of Lut
لُوطٍۢlūṭin(are the) people of Lut
مِّنكُمminkumfrom you
بِبَعِيدٍۢbibaʿīdinfar off

Translation

And O my people (Let) not cause you to sin (Let) not cause you to sin my dissension lest befalls you similar (to) what befell (the) people of Nuh (the) people of Nuh or (the) people of Hud (the) people of Hud or people of Salih people of Salih And not (are the) people of Lut (are the) people of Lut from you far off

Verse 90

وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟wa-is'taghfirūAnd ask forgiveness
رَبَّكُمْrabbakum(of) your Lord
ثُمَّthummathen
تُوبُوٓا۟tūbūturn in repentance
إِلَيْهِ ۚilayhito Him
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
رَحِيمٌۭraḥīmun(is) Most Merciful
وَدُودٌۭwadūdunMost Loving

Translation

And ask forgiveness (of) your Lord then turn in repentance to Him Indeed my Lord (is) Most Merciful Most Loving

Verse 91

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
يَـٰشُعَيْبُyāshuʿaybuO Shuaib
مَاmāNot
نَفْقَهُnafqahuwe understand
كَثِيرًۭاkathīranmuch
مِّمَّاmimmāof what
تَقُولُtaqūluyou say
وَإِنَّاwa-innāand indeed, we
لَنَرَىٰكَlanarākasurely [we] see you
فِينَاfīnāamong us
ضَعِيفًۭا ۖḍaʿīfanweak
وَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if not
رَهْطُكَrahṭukafor your family
لَرَجَمْنَـٰكَ ۖlarajamnākasurely we would have stoned you
وَمَآwamāand you are not
أَنتَantaand you are not
عَلَيْنَاʿalaynāagainst us
بِعَزِيزٍۢbiʿazīzinmighty

Translation

They said O Shuaib Not we understand much of what you say and indeed, we surely [we] see you among us weak And if not for your family surely we would have stoned you and you are not and you are not against us mighty

Verse 92

قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
أَرَهْطِىٓarahṭīIs my family
أَعَزُّaʿazzumightier
عَلَيْكُمʿalaykumon you
مِّنَminathan
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
وَٱتَّخَذْتُمُوهُwa-ittakhadhtumūhuAnd you have taken Him
وَرَآءَكُمْwarāakumbehind your
ظِهْرِيًّا ۖẓih'riyyanbacks
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
بِمَاbimāof what
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
مُحِيطٌۭmuḥīṭun(is) All-Encompassing

Translation

He said O my people Is my family mightier on you than Allah And you have taken Him behind your backs Indeed my Lord of what you do (is) All-Encompassing

Verse 93

وَيَـٰقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people
ٱعْمَلُوا۟iʿ'malūWork
عَلَىٰʿalā(according) to
مَكَانَتِكُمْmakānatikumyour position
إِنِّىinnīindeed, I am
عَـٰمِلٌۭ ۖʿāmilunworking
سَوْفَsawfaSoon
تَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou will know
مَنman(on) whom
يَأْتِيهِyatīhiwill come
عَذَابٌۭʿadhābuna punishment
يُخْزِيهِyukh'zīhi(that will) disgrace him
وَمَنْwamanand who
هُوَhuwa[he]
كَـٰذِبٌۭ ۖkādhibun(is) a liar
وَٱرْتَقِبُوٓا۟wa-ir'taqibūAnd watch
إِنِّىinnīindeed, I am
مَعَكُمْmaʿakumwith you
رَقِيبٌۭraqībuna watcher

Translation

And O my people Work (according) to your position indeed, I am working Soon you will know (on) whom will come a punishment (that will) disgrace him and who [he] (is) a liar And watch indeed, I am with you a watcher

Verse 94

وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd when
جَآءَjāacame
أَمْرُنَاamrunāOur Command
نَجَّيْنَاnajjaynāWe saved
شُعَيْبًۭاshuʿaybanShuaib
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieved
مَعَهُۥmaʿahuwith him
بِرَحْمَةٍۢbiraḥmatinby a Mercy
مِّنَّاminnāfrom Us
وَأَخَذَتِwa-akhadhatiAnd seized
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ظَلَمُوا۟ẓalamūwronged
ٱلصَّيْحَةُl-ṣayḥatuthe thunderous blast
فَأَصْبَحُوا۟fa-aṣbaḥūthen they became
فِىfīin
دِيَـٰرِهِمْdiyārihimtheir homes
جَـٰثِمِينَjāthimīnafallen prone

Translation

And when came Our Command We saved Shuaib and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us And seized those who wronged the thunderous blast then they became in their homes fallen prone

Verse 95

كَأَنka-anAs if
لَّمْlamnot
يَغْنَوْا۟yaghnawthey (had) prospered
فِيهَآ ۗfīhātherein
أَلَاalāSo
بُعْدًۭاbuʿ'danaway
لِّمَدْيَنَlimadyanawith Madyan
كَمَاkamāas
بَعِدَتْbaʿidatwas taken away
ثَمُودُthamūduthe Thamud

Translation

As if not they (had) prospered therein So away with Madyan as was taken away the Thamud

Verse 96

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainly
أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sent
مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاbiāyātināwith Our Signs
وَسُلْطَـٰنٍۢwasul'ṭāninand an authority
مُّبِينٍmubīninclear

Translation

And certainly We sent Musa with Our Signs and an authority clear

Verse 97

إِلَىٰilāTo
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦwamala-ihiand his chiefs
فَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟fa-ittabaʿūbut they followed
أَمْرَamra(the) command of Firaun
فِرْعَوْنَ ۖfir'ʿawna(the) command of Firaun
وَمَآwamāand not
أَمْرُamru(the) command of Firaun
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(the) command of Firaun
بِرَشِيدٍۢbirashīdinwas right

Translation

To Firaun and his chiefs but they followed (the) command of Firaun (the) command of Firaun and not (the) command of Firaun (the) command of Firaun was right

Verse 98

يَقْدُمُyaqdumuHe will precede
قَوْمَهُۥqawmahuhis people
يَوْمَyawma(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
فَأَوْرَدَهُمُfa-awradahumuand lead them
ٱلنَّارَ ۖl-nāra(into) the Fire
وَبِئْسَwabi'saAnd wretched
ٱلْوِرْدُl-wir'du(is) the place
ٱلْمَوْرُودُl-mawrūduto which (they are) led

Translation

He will precede his people (on the) Day (of) the Resurrection and lead them (into) the Fire And wretched (is) the place to which (they are) led

Verse 99

وَأُتْبِعُوا۟wa-ut'biʿūAnd they were followed
فِىfīin
هَـٰذِهِۦhādhihithis
لَعْنَةًۭlaʿnatan(by) a curse
وَيَوْمَwayawmaand (on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
بِئْسَbi'saWretched
ٱلرِّفْدُl-rif'du(is) the gift
ٱلْمَرْفُودُl-marfūduwhich (will) be given

Translation

And they were followed in this (by) a curse and (on the) Day (of) the Resurrection Wretched (is) the gift which (will) be given

Verse 100

ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
مِنْmin(is) from
أَنۢبَآءِanbāi(the) news
ٱلْقُرَىٰl-qurā(of) the cities
نَقُصُّهُۥnaquṣṣuhu(which) We relate
عَلَيْكَ ۖʿalaykato you
مِنْهَاmin'hāof them
قَآئِمٌۭqāimunsome are standing
وَحَصِيدٌۭwaḥaṣīdunand (some) mown

Translation

That (is) from (the) news (of) the cities (which) We relate to you of them some are standing and (some) mown

Verse 101

وَمَاwamāAnd not
ظَلَمْنَـٰهُمْẓalamnāhumWe wronged them
وَلَـٰكِنwalākinbut
ظَلَمُوٓا۟ẓalamūthey wronged
أَنفُسَهُمْ ۖanfusahumthemselves
فَمَآfamāSo not
أَغْنَتْaghnatavailed
عَنْهُمْʿanhumthem
ءَالِهَتُهُمُālihatuhumutheir gods
ٱلَّتِىallatīwhich
يَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey invoked
مِنminother than Allah
دُونِdūniother than Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahiother than Allah
مِنminany
شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
لَّمَّاlammāwhen
جَآءَjāacame
أَمْرُamru(the) command (of) your Lord
رَبِّكَ ۖrabbika(the) command (of) your Lord
وَمَاwamāAnd not
زَادُوهُمْzādūhumthey increased them
غَيْرَghayraother than
تَتْبِيبٍۢtatbībinruin

Translation

And not We wronged them but they wronged themselves So not availed them their gods which they invoked other than Allah other than Allah other than Allah any thing when came (the) command (of) your Lord (the) command (of) your Lord And not they increased them other than ruin

Verse 102

وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
أَخْذُakhdhu(is) the seizure (of) your Lord
رَبِّكَrabbika(is) the seizure (of) your Lord
إِذَآidhāwhen
أَخَذَakhadhaHe seizes
ٱلْقُرَىٰl-qurāthe cities
وَهِىَwahiyawhile they
ظَـٰلِمَةٌ ۚẓālimatun(are) doing wrong
إِنَّinnaIndeed
أَخْذَهُۥٓakhdhahuHis seizure
أَلِيمٌۭalīmun(is) painful
شَدِيدٌshadīdun(and) severe

Translation

And thus (is) the seizure (of) your Lord (is) the seizure (of) your Lord when He seizes the cities while they (are) doing wrong Indeed His seizure (is) painful (and) severe

Verse 103

إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَةًۭlaāyatan(is) surely a Sign
لِّمَنْlimanfor (those) who
خَافَkhāfafear
عَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishment
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۚl-ākhirati(of) the Hereafter
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
يَوْمٌۭyawmun(is) a Day
مَّجْمُوعٌۭmajmūʿun(will) be gathered
لَّهُlahuon it
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsuthe mankind
وَذَٰلِكَwadhālikaand that
يَوْمٌۭyawmun(is) a Day
مَّشْهُودٌۭmashhūdunwitnessed

Translation

Indeed in that (is) surely a Sign for (those) who fear (the) punishment (of) the Hereafter That (is) a Day (will) be gathered on it the mankind and that (is) a Day witnessed

Verse 104

وَمَاwamāAnd not
نُؤَخِّرُهُۥٓnu-akhiruhuWe delay it
إِلَّاillāexcept
لِأَجَلٍۢli-ajalinfor a term
مَّعْدُودٍۢmaʿdūdinlimited

Translation

And not We delay it except for a term limited

Verse 105

يَوْمَyawma(The) Day
يَأْتِyati(it) comes
لَاlānot
تَكَلَّمُtakallamuwill speak
نَفْسٌnafsuna soul
إِلَّاillāexcept
بِإِذْنِهِۦ ۚbi-idh'nihiby His leave
فَمِنْهُمْfamin'humThen among them
شَقِىٌّۭshaqiyyun(will be the) wretched
وَسَعِيدٌۭwasaʿīdunand (the) glad

Translation

(The) Day (it) comes not will speak a soul except by His leave Then among them (will be the) wretched and (the) glad

Verse 106

فَأَمَّاfa-ammāAs for
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
شَقُوا۟shaqūwere wretched
فَفِىfafīthen (they will be) in
ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fire
لَهُمْlahumFor them
فِيهَاfīhātherein
زَفِيرٌۭzafīrun(is) sighing
وَشَهِيقٌwashahīqunand wailing

Translation

As for those who were wretched then (they will be) in the Fire For them therein (is) sighing and wailing

Verse 107

خَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīna(Will be) abiding
فِيهَاfīhātherein
مَاmāas long as remain
دَامَتِdāmatias long as remain
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُl-samāwātuthe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضُwal-arḍuand the earth
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَاmāwhat your Lord wills
شَآءَshāawhat your Lord wills
رَبُّكَ ۚrabbukawhat your Lord wills
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
فَعَّالٌۭfaʿʿālun(is) All-Accomplisher
لِّمَاlimāof what
يُرِيدُyurīduHe intends

Translation

(Will be) abiding therein as long as remain as long as remain the heavens and the earth except what your Lord wills what your Lord wills what your Lord wills Indeed your Lord (is) All-Accomplisher of what He intends

Verse 108

۞ وَأَمَّاwa-ammāAnd as for
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
سُعِدُوا۟suʿidūwere glad
فَفِىfafīthen (they will be) in
ٱلْجَنَّةِl-janatiParadise
خَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīna(will be) abiding
فِيهَاfīhātherein
مَاmāas long as remains
دَامَتِdāmatias long as remains
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُl-samāwātuthe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضُwal-arḍuand the earth
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَاmāwhat your Lord wills
شَآءَshāawhat your Lord wills
رَبُّكَ ۖrabbukawhat your Lord wills
عَطَآءًʿaṭāana bestowal
غَيْرَghayranot
مَجْذُوذٍۢmajdhūdhininterrupted

Translation

And as for those who were glad then (they will be) in Paradise (will be) abiding therein as long as remains as long as remains the heavens and the earth except what your Lord wills what your Lord wills what your Lord wills a bestowal not interrupted

Verse 109

فَلَاfalāSo (do) not
تَكُtakube
فِىfīin
مِرْيَةٍۢmir'yatindoubt
مِّمَّاmimmāas to what
يَعْبُدُyaʿbuduworship
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ ۚhāulāithese (polytheists)
مَاmāNot
يَعْبُدُونَyaʿbudūnathey worship
إِلَّاillāexcept
كَمَاkamāas what
يَعْبُدُyaʿbuduworshipped
ءَابَآؤُهُمābāuhumtheir forefathers
مِّنminbefore
قَبْلُ ۚqablubefore
وَإِنَّاwa-innāAnd indeed, We
لَمُوَفُّوهُمْlamuwaffūhumwill surely pay them in full
نَصِيبَهُمْnaṣībahumtheir share
غَيْرَghayrawithout
مَنقُوصٍۢmanqūṣinbeing diminished

Translation

So (do) not be in doubt as to what worship these (polytheists) Not they worship except as what worshipped their forefathers before before And indeed, We will surely pay them in full their share without being diminished

Verse 110

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
ءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gave
مُوسَىmūsāMusa
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
فَٱخْتُلِفَfa-ukh'tulifabut differences arose
فِيهِ ۚfīhitherein
وَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if not
كَلِمَةٌۭkalimatun(for) a Word
سَبَقَتْsabaqat(that) preceded
مِنminfrom
رَّبِّكَrabbikayour Lord
لَقُضِىَlaquḍiyasurely would have been judged
بَيْنَهُمْ ۚbaynahumbetween them
وَإِنَّهُمْwa-innahumAnd indeed, they
لَفِىlafīsurely (are) in
شَكٍّۢshakkindoubt
مِّنْهُmin'huconcerning it
مُرِيبٍۢmurībinsuspicious

Translation

And verily We gave Musa the Book but differences arose therein And if not (for) a Word (that) preceded from your Lord surely would have been judged between them And indeed, they surely (are) in doubt concerning it suspicious

Verse 111

وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
كُلًّۭاkullanto each [when]
لَّمَّاlammāto each [when]
لَيُوَفِّيَنَّهُمْlayuwaffiyannahumsurely will pay them in full
رَبُّكَrabbukayour Lord
أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ ۚaʿmālahumtheir deeds
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
بِمَاbimāof what
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnathey do
خَبِيرٌۭkhabīrun(is) All-Aware

Translation

And indeed to each [when] to each [when] surely will pay them in full your Lord their deeds Indeed, He of what they do (is) All-Aware

Verse 112

فَٱسْتَقِمْfa-is'taqimSo stand firm
كَمَآkamāas
أُمِرْتَumir'tayou are commanded
وَمَنwamanand (those) who
تَابَtābaturn (in repentance)
مَعَكَmaʿakawith you
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَطْغَوْا۟ ۚtaṭghawtransgress
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
بِمَاbimāof what
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
بَصِيرٌۭbaṣīrun(is) All-Seer

Translation

So stand firm as you are commanded and (those) who turn (in repentance) with you and (do) not transgress Indeed, He of what you do (is) All-Seer

Verse 113

وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَرْكَنُوٓا۟tarkanūincline
إِلَىilāto
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ظَلَمُوا۟ẓalamūdo wrong
فَتَمَسَّكُمُfatamassakumulest touches you
ٱلنَّارُl-nāruthe Fire
وَمَاwamāand not
لَكُمlakum(is) for you
مِّنminbesides Allah
دُونِdūnibesides Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahibesides Allah
مِنْminany
أَوْلِيَآءَawliyāaprotectors
ثُمَّthummathen
لَاlānot
تُنصَرُونَtunṣarūnayou will be helped

Translation

And (do) not incline to those who do wrong lest touches you the Fire and not (is) for you besides Allah besides Allah besides Allah any protectors then not you will be helped

Verse 114

وَأَقِمِwa-aqimiAnd establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe prayer
طَرَفَىِṭarafayi(at the) two ends
ٱلنَّهَارِl-nahāri(of) the day
وَزُلَفًۭاwazulafanand (at) the approach
مِّنَminaof
ٱلَّيْلِ ۚal-laylithe night
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلْحَسَنَـٰتِl-ḥasanātithe good deeds
يُذْهِبْنَyudh'hib'naremove
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ ۚl-sayiātithe evil deeds
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
ذِكْرَىٰdhik'rā(is) a reminder
لِلذَّٰكِرِينَlildhākirīnafor those who remember

Translation

And establish the prayer (at the) two ends (of) the day and (at) the approach of the night Indeed the good deeds remove the evil deeds That (is) a reminder for those who remember

Verse 115

وَٱصْبِرْwa-iṣ'birAnd be patient
فَإِنَّfa-innafor indeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
لَاlā(does) not
يُضِيعُyuḍīʿulet go waste
أَجْرَajra(the) reward
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīna(of) the good-doers

Translation

And be patient for indeed Allah (does) not let go waste (the) reward (of) the good-doers

Verse 116

فَلَوْلَاfalawlāSo why not
كَانَkānahad been
مِنَminaof
ٱلْقُرُونِl-qurūnithe generations
مِنminbefore you
قَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore you
أُو۟لُوا۟ulūthose possessing a remnant
بَقِيَّةٍۢbaqiyyatinthose possessing a remnant
يَنْهَوْنَyanhawnaforbidding
عَنِʿanifrom
ٱلْفَسَادِl-fasādithe corruption
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
إِلَّاillāexcept
قَلِيلًۭاqalīlana few
مِّمَّنْmimmanof those
أَنجَيْنَاanjaynāWe saved
مِنْهُمْ ۗmin'humamong them
وَٱتَّبَعَwa-ittabaʿaBut followed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ظَلَمُوا۟ẓalamūdid wrong
مَآmāwhat
أُتْرِفُوا۟ut'rifūluxury they were given
فِيهِfīhitherein
وَكَانُوا۟wakānūand they were
مُجْرِمِينَmuj'rimīnacriminals

Translation

So why not had been of the generations before you before you those possessing a remnant those possessing a remnant forbidding from the corruption in the earth except a few of those We saved among them But followed those who did wrong what luxury they were given therein and they were criminals

Verse 117

وَمَاwamāAnd not
كَانَkānawould
رَبُّكَrabbukayour Lord
لِيُهْلِكَliyuh'likadestroy
ٱلْقُرَىٰl-qurāthe cities
بِظُلْمٍۢbiẓul'minunjustly
وَأَهْلُهَاwa-ahluhāwhile its people
مُصْلِحُونَmuṣ'liḥūna(were) reformers

Translation

And not would your Lord destroy the cities unjustly while its people (were) reformers

Verse 118

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
شَآءَshāayour Lord (had) willed
رَبُّكَrabbukayour Lord (had) willed
لَجَعَلَlajaʿalasurely He (could) have made
ٱلنَّاسَl-nāsathe mankind
أُمَّةًۭummatanone community
وَٰحِدَةًۭ ۖwāḥidatanone community
وَلَاwalābut not
يَزَالُونَyazālūnathey will cease
مُخْتَلِفِينَmukh'talifīnato differ

Translation

And if your Lord (had) willed your Lord (had) willed surely He (could) have made the mankind one community one community but not they will cease to differ

Verse 119

إِلَّاillāExcept
مَنman(on) whom
رَّحِمَraḥimayour Lord has bestowed Mercy
رَبُّكَ ۚrabbukayour Lord has bestowed Mercy
وَلِذَٰلِكَwalidhālikaand for that
خَلَقَهُمْ ۗkhalaqahumHe created them
وَتَمَّتْwatammatAnd will be fulfilled
كَلِمَةُkalimatu(the) Word of your Lord
رَبِّكَrabbika(the) Word of your Lord
لَأَمْلَأَنَّla-amla-annaSurely I will fill
جَهَنَّمَjahannamaHell
مِنَminawith
ٱلْجِنَّةِl-jinatithe Jinn
وَٱلنَّاسِwal-nāsiand the men
أَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall together

Translation

Except (on) whom your Lord has bestowed Mercy your Lord has bestowed Mercy and for that He created them And will be fulfilled (the) Word of your Lord (the) Word of your Lord Surely I will fill Hell with the Jinn and the men all together

Verse 120

وَكُلًّۭاwakullanAnd each
نَّقُصُّnaquṣṣuWe relate
عَلَيْكَʿalaykato you
مِنْminof
أَنۢبَآءِanbāi(the) news
ٱلرُّسُلِl-rusuli(of) the Messengers
مَاmā(for) that
نُثَبِّتُnuthabbituWe may make firm
بِهِۦbihiwith it
فُؤَادَكَ ۚfuādakayour heart
وَجَآءَكَwajāakaAnd has come to you
فِىfīin
هَـٰذِهِhādhihithis
ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truth
وَمَوْعِظَةٌۭwamawʿiẓatunand an admonition
وَذِكْرَىٰwadhik'rāand a reminder
لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَlil'mu'minīnafor the believers

Translation

And each We relate to you of (the) news (of) the Messengers (for) that We may make firm with it your heart And has come to you in this the truth and an admonition and a reminder for the believers

Verse 121

وَقُلwaqulAnd say
لِّلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those who
لَاlā(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
ٱعْمَلُوا۟iʿ'malūWork
عَلَىٰʿalā(according) to
مَكَانَتِكُمْmakānatikumyour position
إِنَّاinnāindeed, we
عَـٰمِلُونَʿāmilūna(are also) working

Translation

And say to those who (do) not believe Work (according) to your position indeed, we (are also) working

Verse 122

وَٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟wa-intaẓirūAnd wait
إِنَّاinnāindeed, we
مُنتَظِرُونَmuntaẓirūna(are) ones who wait

Translation

And wait indeed, we (are) ones who wait

Verse 123

وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allah
غَيْبُghaybu(is the) unseen
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
وَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Him
يُرْجَعُyur'jaʿuwill be returned
ٱلْأَمْرُl-amruthe matter
كُلُّهُۥkulluhuall (of) it
فَٱعْبُدْهُfa-uʿ'bud'huso worship Him
وَتَوَكَّلْwatawakkaland put your trust
عَلَيْهِ ۚʿalayhiupon Him
وَمَاwamāAnd your Lord is not
رَبُّكَrabbukaAnd your Lord is not
بِغَـٰفِلٍbighāfilinunaware
عَمَّاʿammāof what
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do

Translation

And for Allah (is the) unseen (of) the heavens and the earth and to Him will be returned the matter all (of) it so worship Him and put your trust upon Him And your Lord is not And your Lord is not unaware of what you do
