Verse 1

طسٓمٓtta-seen-meemTa Seem Meem

Translation

Ta Seem Meem

Verse 2

تِلْكَtil'kaThese
ءَايَـٰتُāyātu(are the) Verses
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
ٱلْمُبِينِl-mubīniclear

Translation

These (are the) Verses (of) the Book clear

Verse 3

لَعَلَّكَlaʿallakaPerhaps you
بَـٰخِعٌۭbākhiʿun(would) kill
نَّفْسَكَnafsakayourself
أَلَّاallāthat not
يَكُونُوا۟yakūnūthey become
مُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers

Translation

Perhaps you (would) kill yourself that not they become believers

Verse 4

إِنinIf
نَّشَأْnashaWe will
نُنَزِّلْnunazzilWe can send down
عَلَيْهِمʿalayhimto them
مِّنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
ءَايَةًۭāyatana Sign
فَظَلَّتْfaẓallatso would bend
أَعْنَـٰقُهُمْaʿnāquhumtheir necks
لَهَاlahāto it
خَـٰضِعِينَkhāḍiʿīna(in) humility

Translation

If We will We can send down to them from the sky a Sign so would bend their necks to it (in) humility

Verse 5

وَمَاwamāAnd (does) not
يَأْتِيهِمyatīhimcome to them
مِّنminany
ذِكْرٍۢdhik'rinreminder
مِّنَminafrom
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmānithe Most Gracious
مُحْدَثٍmuḥ'dathinnew
إِلَّاillābut
كَانُوا۟kānūthey
عَنْهُʿanhufrom it
مُعْرِضِينَmuʿ'riḍīnaturn away

Translation

And (does) not come to them any reminder from the Most Gracious new but they from it turn away

Verse 6

فَقَدْfaqadSo verily
كَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūthey have denied
فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْfasayatīhimthen will come to them
أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُا۟anbāuthe news
مَاmā(of) what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used
بِهِۦbihiat it
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūna(to) mock

Translation

So verily they have denied then will come to them the news (of) what they used at it (to) mock

Verse 7

أَوَلَمْawalamDo not
يَرَوْا۟yarawthey see
إِلَىilāat
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
كَمْkamhow many
أَنۢبَتْنَاanbatnāWe produced
فِيهَاfīhāin it
مِنminof
كُلِّkullievery
زَوْجٍۢzawjinkind
كَرِيمٍkarīminnoble

Translation

Do not they see at the earth how many We produced in it of every kind noble

Verse 8

إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖlaāyatansurely (is) a sign
وَمَاwamābut not
كَانَkānaare
أَكْثَرُهُمaktharuhummost of them
مُّؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers

Translation

Indeed in that surely (is) a sign but not are most of them believers

Verse 9

وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
لَهُوَlahuwasurely, He
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful

Translation

And indeed your Lord surely, He (is) the All-Mighty the Most Merciful

Verse 10

وَإِذْwa-idhAnd when
نَادَىٰnādāyour Lord called
رَبُّكَrabbukayour Lord called
مُوسَىٰٓmūsāMusa
أَنِani[that]
ٱئْتِi'tiGo
ٱلْقَوْمَl-qawma(to) the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīna(who are) wrongdoers

Translation

And when your Lord called your Lord called Musa [that] Go (to) the people (who are) wrongdoers

Verse 11

قَوْمَqawma(The) people
فِرْعَوْنَ ۚfir'ʿawna(of) Firaun
أَلَاalāWill not
يَتَّقُونَyattaqūnathey fear

Translation

(The) people (of) Firaun Will not they fear

Verse 12

قَالَqālaHe said
رَبِّrabbiMy Lord
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أَخَافُakhāfu[I] fear
أَنanthat
يُكَذِّبُونِyukadhibūnithey will deny me

Translation

He said My Lord Indeed, I [I] fear that they will deny me

Verse 13

وَيَضِيقُwayaḍīquAnd straitens
صَدْرِىṣadrīmy breast
وَلَاwalāand not
يَنطَلِقُyanṭaliquexpresses well
لِسَانِىlisānīmy tongue
فَأَرْسِلْfa-arsilso send
إِلَىٰilāfor
هَـٰرُونَhārūnaHarun

Translation

And straitens my breast and not expresses well my tongue so send for Harun

Verse 14

وَلَهُمْwalahumAnd they have
عَلَىَّʿalayyaagainst me
ذَنۢبٌۭdhanbuna crime
فَأَخَافُfa-akhāfuso I fear
أَنanthat
يَقْتُلُونِyaqtulūnithey will kill me

Translation

And they have against me a crime so I fear that they will kill me

Verse 15

قَالَqālaHe said
كَلَّا ۖkallāNay
فَٱذْهَبَاfa-idh'habāgo both of you
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۖbiāyātināwith Our Signs
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
مَعَكُمmaʿakum(are) with you
مُّسْتَمِعُونَmus'tamiʿūnalistening

Translation

He said Nay go both of you with Our Signs Indeed, We (are) with you listening

Verse 16

فَأْتِيَاfatiyāSo go both of you
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(to) Firaun
فَقُولَآfaqūlāand say
إِنَّاinnā'Indeed, we
رَسُولُrasūlu(are the) Messenger
رَبِّrabbi(of the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

So go both of you (to) Firaun and say 'Indeed, we (are the) Messenger (of the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 17

أَنْan[That]
أَرْسِلْarsilsend
مَعَنَاmaʿanāwith us
بَنِىٓbanī(the) Children of Israel.'
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(the) Children of Israel.'

Translation

[That] send with us (the) Children of Israel.' (the) Children of Israel.'

Verse 18

قَالَqālaHe said
أَلَمْalamDid not
نُرَبِّكَnurabbikawe bring you up
فِينَاfīnāamong us
وَلِيدًۭاwalīdan(as) a child
وَلَبِثْتَwalabith'taand you remained
فِينَاfīnāamong us
مِنْminof
عُمُرِكَʿumurikayour life
سِنِينَsinīnayears

Translation

He said Did not we bring you up among us (as) a child and you remained among us of your life years

Verse 19

وَفَعَلْتَwafaʿaltaAnd you did
فَعْلَتَكَfaʿlatakayour deed
ٱلَّتِىallatīwhich
فَعَلْتَfaʿaltayou did
وَأَنتَwa-antaand you
مِنَmina(were) of
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe ungrateful

Translation

And you did your deed which you did and you (were) of the ungrateful

Verse 20

قَالَqālaHe said
فَعَلْتُهَآfaʿaltuhāI did it
إِذًۭاidhanwhen
وَأَنَا۠wa-anāI
مِنَmina(was) of
ٱلضَّآلِّينَl-ḍālīnathose who are astray

Translation

He said I did it when I (was) of those who are astray

Verse 21

فَفَرَرْتُfafarartuSo I fled
مِنكُمْminkumfrom you
لَمَّاlammāwhen
خِفْتُكُمْkhif'tukumI feared you
فَوَهَبَfawahabaBut granted
لِىlīto me
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
حُكْمًۭاḥuk'manjudgment
وَجَعَلَنِىwajaʿalanīand made me
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Translation

So I fled from you when I feared you But granted to me my Lord judgment and made me of the Messengers

Verse 22

وَتِلْكَwatil'kaAnd this
نِعْمَةٌۭniʿ'matun(is the) favor
تَمُنُّهَاtamunnuhāwith which you reproach
عَلَىَّʿalayya[on] me
أَنْanthat
عَبَّدتَّʿabbadttayou have enslaved
بَنِىٓbanī(the) Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(the) Children of Israel

Translation

And this (is the) favor with which you reproach [on] me that you have enslaved (the) Children of Israel (the) Children of Israel

Verse 23

قَالَqālaFiraun said
فِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraun said
وَمَاwamāAnd what
رَبُّrabbu(is the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

Firaun said Firaun said And what (is the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 24

قَالَqālaHe said
رَبُّrabbuLord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
وَمَاwamāand whatever
بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖbaynahumā(is) between them
إِنinif
كُنتُمkuntumyou (should) be
مُّوقِنِينَmūqinīnaconvinced

Translation

He said Lord (of) the heavens and the earth and whatever (is) between them if you (should) be convinced

Verse 25

قَالَqālaHe said
لِمَنْlimanto those
حَوْلَهُۥٓḥawlahuaround him
أَلَاalāDo not
تَسْتَمِعُونَtastamiʿūnayou hear

Translation

He said to those around him Do not you hear

Verse 26

قَالَqālaHe said
رَبُّكُمْrabbukumYour Lord
وَرَبُّwarabbuand (the) Lord
ءَابَآئِكُمُābāikumu(of) your forefathers
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna(of) your forefathers

Translation

He said Your Lord and (the) Lord (of) your forefathers (of) your forefathers

Verse 27

قَالَqālaHe said
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَسُولَكُمُrasūlakumuyour Messenger
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhīwho
أُرْسِلَur'silahas been sent
إِلَيْكُمْilaykumto you
لَمَجْنُونٌۭlamajnūnun(is) surely mad

Translation

He said Indeed your Messenger who has been sent to you (is) surely mad

Verse 28

قَالَqālaHe said
رَبُّrabbuLord
ٱلْمَشْرِقِl-mashriqi(of) the east
وَٱلْمَغْرِبِwal-maghribiand the west
وَمَاwamāand whatever
بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖbaynahumā(is) between them
إِنinif
كُنتُمْkuntumyou were
تَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūna(to) reason

Translation

He said Lord (of) the east and the west and whatever (is) between them if you were (to) reason

Verse 29

قَالَqālaHe said
لَئِنِla-iniIf
ٱتَّخَذْتَittakhadhtayou take
إِلَـٰهًاilāhana god
غَيْرِىghayrīother than me
لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَla-ajʿalannakaI will surely make you
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْمَسْجُونِينَl-masjūnīnathose imprisoned

Translation

He said If you take a god other than me I will surely make you among those imprisoned

Verse 30

قَالَqālaHe said
أَوَلَوْawalawEven if
جِئْتُكَji'tukaI bring you
بِشَىْءٍۢbishayinsomething
مُّبِينٍۢmubīninmanifest

Translation

He said Even if I bring you something manifest

Verse 31

قَالَqālaHe said
فَأْتِfatiThen bring
بِهِۦٓbihiit
إِنinif
كُنتَkuntayou are
مِنَminaof
ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَl-ṣādiqīnathe truthful

Translation

He said Then bring it if you are of the truthful

Verse 32

فَأَلْقَىٰfa-alqāSo he threw
عَصَاهُʿaṣāhuhis staff
فَإِذَاfa-idhāand behold
هِىَhiyaIt
ثُعْبَانٌۭthuʿ'bānun(was) a serpent
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunmanifest

Translation

So he threw his staff and behold It (was) a serpent manifest

Verse 33

وَنَزَعَwanazaʿaAnd he drew out
يَدَهُۥyadahuhis hand
فَإِذَاfa-idhāand behold
هِىَhiyaIt
بَيْضَآءُbayḍāu(was) white
لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَlilnnāẓirīnafor the observers

Translation

And he drew out his hand and behold It (was) white for the observers

Verse 34

قَالَqālaHe said
لِلْمَلَإِlil'mala-ito the chiefs
حَوْلَهُۥٓḥawlahuaround him
إِنَّinnaIndeed
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
لَسَـٰحِرٌlasāḥirun(is) surely a magician
عَلِيمٌۭʿalīmunlearned

Translation

He said to the chiefs around him Indeed this (is) surely a magician learned

Verse 35

يُرِيدُyurīduHe wants
أَنanto
يُخْرِجَكُمyukh'rijakumdrive you out
مِّنْminfrom
أَرْضِكُمarḍikumyour land
بِسِحْرِهِۦbisiḥ'rihiby his magic
فَمَاذَاfamādhāso what
تَأْمُرُونَtamurūna(do) you advise

Translation

He wants to drive you out from your land by his magic so what (do) you advise

Verse 36

قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey said
أَرْجِهْarjihPostpone him
وَأَخَاهُwa-akhāhuand his brother
وَٱبْعَثْwa-ib'ʿathand send
فِىfīin
ٱلْمَدَآئِنِl-madāinithe cities
حَـٰشِرِينَḥāshirīnagatherers

Translation

They said Postpone him and his brother and send in the cities gatherers

Verse 37

يَأْتُوكَyatūkaThey (will) bring to you
بِكُلِّbikullievery
سَحَّارٍsaḥḥārinmagician
عَلِيمٍۢʿalīminlearned

Translation

They (will) bring to you every magician learned

Verse 38

فَجُمِعَfajumiʿaSo were assembled
ٱلسَّحَرَةُl-saḥaratuthe magicians
لِمِيقَـٰتِlimīqātifor (the) appointment
يَوْمٍۢyawmin(on) a day
مَّعْلُومٍۢmaʿlūminwell-known

Translation

So were assembled the magicians for (the) appointment (on) a day well-known

Verse 39

وَقِيلَwaqīlaAnd it was said
لِلنَّاسِlilnnāsito the people
هَلْhalWill
أَنتُمantumyou
مُّجْتَمِعُونَmuj'tamiʿūnaassemble

Translation

And it was said to the people Will you assemble

Verse 40

لَعَلَّنَاlaʿallanāThat we may
نَتَّبِعُnattabiʿufollow
ٱلسَّحَرَةَl-saḥaratathe magicians
إِنinif
كَانُوا۟kānūthey are
هُمُhumuthey are
ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَl-ghālibīnathe victorious

Translation

That we may follow the magicians if they are they are the victorious

Verse 41

فَلَمَّاfalammāSo when
جَآءَjāacame
ٱلسَّحَرَةُl-saḥaratuthe magicians
قَالُوا۟qālūthey said
لِفِرْعَوْنَlifir'ʿawnato Firaun
أَئِنَّa-innaIs there
لَنَاlanāfor us
لَأَجْرًاla-ajrana reward
إِنinif
كُنَّاkunnāwe are
نَحْنُnaḥnuwe are
ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَl-ghālibīnathe victorious

Translation

So when came the magicians they said to Firaun Is there for us a reward if we are we are the victorious

Verse 42

قَالَqālaHe said
نَعَمْnaʿamYes
وَإِنَّكُمْwa-innakumand indeed you
إِذًۭاidhanthen
لَّمِنَlaminasurely (will be) of
ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَl-muqarabīnathe ones who are brought near

Translation

He said Yes and indeed you then surely (will be) of the ones who are brought near

Verse 43

قَالَqālaSaid
لَهُمlahumto them
مُّوسَىٰٓmūsāMusa
أَلْقُوا۟alqūThrow
مَآmāwhat
أَنتُمantumyou
مُّلْقُونَmul'qūna(are) going to throw

Translation

Said to them Musa Throw what you (are) going to throw

Verse 44

فَأَلْقَوْا۟fa-alqawSo they threw
حِبَالَهُمْḥibālahumtheir ropes
وَعِصِيَّهُمْwaʿiṣiyyahumand their staffs
وَقَالُوا۟waqālūand said
بِعِزَّةِbiʿizzatiBy the might
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) Firaun
إِنَّاinnāindeed, we
لَنَحْنُlanaḥnusurely, we
ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَl-ghālibūna(are) the victorious

Translation

So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said By the might (of) Firaun indeed, we surely, we (are) the victorious

Verse 45

فَأَلْقَىٰfa-alqāThen threw
مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa
عَصَاهُʿaṣāhuhis staff
فَإِذَاfa-idhāand behold
هِىَhiyaIt
تَلْقَفُtalqafuswallowed
مَاmāwhat
يَأْفِكُونَyafikūnathey falsified

Translation

Then threw Musa his staff and behold It swallowed what they falsified

Verse 46

فَأُلْقِىَfa-ul'qiyaThen fell down
ٱلسَّحَرَةُl-saḥaratuthe magicians
سَـٰجِدِينَsājidīnaprostrate

Translation

Then fell down the magicians prostrate

Verse 47

قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey said
ءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believe
بِرَبِّbirabbiin (the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

They said We believe in (the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 48

رَبِّrabbiLord
مُوسَىٰmūsā(of) Musa
وَهَـٰرُونَwahārūnaand Harun

Translation

Lord (of) Musa and Harun

Verse 49

قَالَqālaHe said
ءَامَنتُمْāmantumYou believed
لَهُۥlahuin him
قَبْلَqablabefore
أَنْan[that]
ءَاذَنَādhanaI gave permission
لَكُمْ ۖlakumto you
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
لَكَبِيرُكُمُlakabīrukumu(is) surely your chief
ٱلَّذِىalladhīwho
عَلَّمَكُمُʿallamakumuhas taught you
ٱلسِّحْرَl-siḥ'rathe magic
فَلَسَوْفَfalasawfaso surely soon
تَعْلَمُونَ ۚtaʿlamūnayou will know
لَأُقَطِّعَنَّla-uqaṭṭiʿannaI will surely cut off
أَيْدِيَكُمْaydiyakumyour hands
وَأَرْجُلَكُمwa-arjulakumand your feet
مِّنْminof
خِلَـٰفٍۢkhilāfinopposite sides
وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْwala-uṣallibannakumand I will surely crucify you
أَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall

Translation

He said You believed in him before [that] I gave permission to you Indeed, he (is) surely your chief who has taught you the magic so surely soon you will know I will surely cut off your hands and your feet of opposite sides and I will surely crucify you all

Verse 50

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
لَاlāNo
ضَيْرَ ۖḍayraharm
إِنَّآinnāIndeed, we
إِلَىٰilāto
رَبِّنَاrabbināour Lord
مُنقَلِبُونَmunqalibūna(will) return

Translation

They said No harm Indeed, we to our Lord (will) return

Verse 51

إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
نَطْمَعُnaṭmaʿuhope
أَنanthat
يَغْفِرَyaghfirawill forgive
لَنَاlanāus
رَبُّنَاrabbunāour Lord
خَطَـٰيَـٰنَآkhaṭāyānāour sins
أَنanbecause
كُنَّآkunnāwe are
أَوَّلَawwala(the) first
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(of) the believers

Translation

Indeed, we hope that will forgive us our Lord our sins because we are (the) first (of) the believers

Verse 52

۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَآwa-awḥaynāAnd We inspired
إِلَىٰilāto
مُوسَىٰٓmūsāMusa
أَنْan[that]
أَسْرِasriTravel by night
بِعِبَادِىٓbiʿibādīwith My slaves
إِنَّكُمinnakumindeed, you
مُّتَّبَعُونَmuttabaʿūna(will be) followed

Translation

And We inspired to Musa [that] Travel by night with My slaves indeed, you (will be) followed

Verse 53

فَأَرْسَلَfa-arsalaThen sent
فِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraun
فِىfīin
ٱلْمَدَآئِنِl-madāinithe cities
حَـٰشِرِينَḥāshirīnagatherers

Translation

Then sent Firaun in the cities gatherers

Verse 54

إِنَّinnaIndeed
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāithese
لَشِرْذِمَةٌۭlashir'dhimatun(are) certainly a band
قَلِيلُونَqalīlūnasmall

Translation

Indeed these (are) certainly a band small

Verse 55

وَإِنَّهُمْwa-innahumAnd indeed, they
لَنَاlanā[to] us
لَغَآئِظُونَlaghāiẓūna(are) surely enraging

Translation

And indeed, they [to] us (are) surely enraging

Verse 56

وَإِنَّاwa-innāAnd indeed, we
لَجَمِيعٌlajamīʿun(are) surely a multitude
حَـٰذِرُونَḥādhirūnaforewarned

Translation

And indeed, we (are) surely a multitude forewarned

Verse 57

فَأَخْرَجْنَـٰهُمfa-akhrajnāhumSo We expelled them
مِّنminfrom
جَنَّـٰتٍۢjannātingardens
وَعُيُونٍۢwaʿuyūninand springs

Translation

So We expelled them from gardens and springs

Verse 58

وَكُنُوزٍۢwakunūzinAnd treasures
وَمَقَامٍۢwamaqāminand a place
كَرِيمٍۢkarīminhonorable

Translation

And treasures and a place honorable

Verse 59

كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
وَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَاwa-awrathnāhāAnd We caused to inherit them
بَنِىٓbanī(the) Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(the) Children of Israel

Translation

Thus And We caused to inherit them (the) Children of Israel (the) Children of Israel

Verse 60

فَأَتْبَعُوهُمfa-atbaʿūhumSo they followed them
مُّشْرِقِينَmush'riqīna(at) sunrise

Translation

So they followed them (at) sunrise

Verse 61

فَلَمَّاfalammāThen when
تَرَٰٓءَاtarāāsaw each other
ٱلْجَمْعَانِl-jamʿānithe two hosts
قَالَqālasaid
أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(the) companions
مُوسَىٰٓmūsā(of) Musa
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
لَمُدْرَكُونَlamud'rakūna(are) surely to be overtaken

Translation

Then when saw each other the two hosts said (the) companions (of) Musa Indeed, we (are) surely to be overtaken

Verse 62

قَالَqālaHe said
كَلَّآ ۖkallāNay
إِنَّinnaindeed
مَعِىَmaʿiyawith me
رَبِّىrabbī(is) my Lord
سَيَهْدِينِsayahdīniHe will guide me

Translation

He said Nay indeed with me (is) my Lord He will guide me

Verse 63

فَأَوْحَيْنَآfa-awḥaynāThen We inspired
إِلَىٰilāto
مُوسَىٰٓmūsāMusa
أَنِani[that]
ٱضْرِبiḍ'ribStrike
بِّعَصَاكَbiʿaṣākawith your staff
ٱلْبَحْرَ ۖl-baḥrathe sea
فَٱنفَلَقَfa-infalaqaSo it parted
فَكَانَfakānaand became
كُلُّkullueach
فِرْقٍۢfir'qinpart
كَٱلطَّوْدِkal-ṭawdilike the mountain
ٱلْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmi[the] great

Translation

Then We inspired to Musa [that] Strike with your staff the sea So it parted and became each part like the mountain [the] great

Verse 64

وَأَزْلَفْنَاwa-azlafnāAnd We brought near
ثَمَّthammathere
ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَl-ākharīnathe others

Translation

And We brought near there the others

Verse 65

وَأَنجَيْنَاwa-anjaynāAnd We saved
مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa
وَمَنwamanand who
مَّعَهُۥٓmaʿahu(were) with him
أَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall

Translation

And We saved Musa and who (were) with him all

Verse 66

ثُمَّthummaThen
أَغْرَقْنَاaghraqnāWe drowned
ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَl-ākharīnathe others

Translation

Then We drowned the others

Verse 67

إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖlaāyatansurely (is) a Sign
وَمَاwamābut not
كَانَkānaare
أَكْثَرُهُمaktharuhummost of them
مُّؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers

Translation

Indeed in that surely (is) a Sign but not are most of them believers

Verse 68

وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
لَهُوَlahuwasurely He
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful

Translation

And indeed your Lord surely He (is) the All-Mighty the Most Merciful

Verse 69

وَٱتْلُwa-ut'luAnd recite
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto them
نَبَأَnaba-a(the) news
إِبْرَٰهِيمَib'rāhīma(of) Ibrahim

Translation

And recite to them (the) news (of) Ibrahim

Verse 70

إِذْidhWhen
قَالَqālahe said
لِأَبِيهِli-abīhito his father
وَقَوْمِهِۦwaqawmihiand his people
مَاmāWhat
تَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūna(do) you worship

Translation

When he said to his father and his people What (do) you worship

Verse 71

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
نَعْبُدُnaʿbuduWe worship
أَصْنَامًۭاaṣnāmanidols
فَنَظَلُّfanaẓalluso we will remain
لَهَاlahāto them
عَـٰكِفِينَʿākifīnadevoted

Translation

They said We worship idols so we will remain to them devoted

Verse 72

قَالَqālaHe said
هَلْhalDo
يَسْمَعُونَكُمْyasmaʿūnakumthey hear you
إِذْidhwhen
تَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou call

Translation

He said Do they hear you when you call

Verse 73

أَوْawOr
يَنفَعُونَكُمْyanfaʿūnakum(do) they benefit you
أَوْawor
يَضُرُّونَyaḍurrūnathey harm (you)

Translation

Or (do) they benefit you or they harm (you)

Verse 74

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
بَلْbalNay
وَجَدْنَآwajadnābut we found
ءَابَآءَنَاābāanāour forefathers
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikalike that
يَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnadoing

Translation

They said Nay but we found our forefathers like that doing

Verse 75

قَالَqālaHe said
أَفَرَءَيْتُمafara-aytumDo you see
مَّاmāwhat
كُنتُمْkuntumyou have been
تَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūnaworshipping

Translation

He said Do you see what you have been worshipping

Verse 76

أَنتُمْantumYou
وَءَابَآؤُكُمُwaābāukumuand your forefathers
ٱلْأَقْدَمُونَl-aqdamūnaand your forefathers

Translation

You and your forefathers and your forefathers

Verse 77

فَإِنَّهُمْfa-innahumIndeed, they
عَدُوٌّۭʿaduwwun(are) enemies
لِّىٓlīto me
إِلَّاillāexcept
رَبَّrabba(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

Indeed, they (are) enemies to me except (the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 78

ٱلَّذِىalladhīThe One Who
خَلَقَنِىkhalaqanīcreated me
فَهُوَfahuwaand He
يَهْدِينِyahdīniguides me

Translation

The One Who created me and He guides me

Verse 79

وَٱلَّذِىwa-alladhīAnd the One Who
هُوَhuwa[He]
يُطْعِمُنِىyuṭ'ʿimunīgives me food
وَيَسْقِينِwayasqīniand gives me drink

Translation

And the One Who [He] gives me food and gives me drink

Verse 80

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
مَرِضْتُmariḍ'tuI am ill
فَهُوَfahuwathen He
يَشْفِينِyashfīnicures me

Translation

And when I am ill then He cures me

Verse 81

وَٱلَّذِىwa-alladhīAnd the One Who
يُمِيتُنِىyumītunīwill cause me to die
ثُمَّthummathen
يُحْيِينِyuḥ'yīnihe will give me life

Translation

And the One Who will cause me to die then he will give me life

Verse 82

وَٱلَّذِىٓwa-alladhīAnd the One Who
أَطْمَعُaṭmaʿuI hope
أَنanthat
يَغْفِرَyaghfiraHe will forgive
لِىlīfor me
خَطِيٓـَٔتِىkhaṭīatīmy faults
يَوْمَyawma(on the) Day
ٱلدِّينِl-dīni(of) the Judgment

Translation

And the One Who I hope that He will forgive for me my faults (on the) Day (of) the Judgment

Verse 83

رَبِّrabbiMy Lord
هَبْhabGrant
لِىlī[for] me
حُكْمًۭاḥuk'manwisdom
وَأَلْحِقْنِىwa-alḥiq'nīand join me
بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَbil-ṣāliḥīnawith the righteous

Translation

My Lord Grant [for] me wisdom and join me with the righteous

Verse 84

وَٱجْعَلwa-ij'ʿalAnd grant
لِّىlī[for] me
لِسَانَlisānaa mention
صِدْقٍۢṣid'qin(of) honor
فِىfīamong
ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَl-ākhirīnathe later (generations)

Translation

And grant [for] me a mention (of) honor among the later (generations)

Verse 85

وَٱجْعَلْنِىwa-ij'ʿalnīAnd make me
مِنminof
وَرَثَةِwarathati(the) inheritors
جَنَّةِjannati(of) Garden(s)
ٱلنَّعِيمِl-naʿīmi(of) Delight

Translation

And make me of (the) inheritors (of) Garden(s) (of) Delight

Verse 86

وَٱغْفِرْwa-igh'firAnd forgive
لِأَبِىٓli-abīmy father
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
كَانَkānais
مِنَminaof
ٱلضَّآلِّينَl-ḍālīnathose astray

Translation

And forgive my father Indeed, he is of those astray

Verse 87

وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تُخْزِنِىtukh'zinīdisgrace me
يَوْمَyawma(on the) Day
يُبْعَثُونَyub'ʿathūnathey are resurrected

Translation

And (do) not disgrace me (on the) Day they are resurrected

Verse 88

يَوْمَyawma(The) Day
لَاlānot
يَنفَعُyanfaʿuwill benefit
مَالٌۭmālunwealth
وَلَاwalāand not
بَنُونَbanūnasons

Translation

(The) Day not will benefit wealth and not sons

Verse 89

إِلَّاillāExcept
مَنْman(he) who
أَتَىatācomes
ٱللَّهَl-laha(to) Allah
بِقَلْبٍۢbiqalbinwith a heart
سَلِيمٍۢsalīminsound

Translation

Except (he) who comes (to) Allah with a heart sound

Verse 90

وَأُزْلِفَتِwa-uz'lifatiAnd (will be) brought near
ٱلْجَنَّةُl-janatuthe Paradise
لِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīnafor the righteous

Translation

And (will be) brought near the Paradise for the righteous

Verse 91

وَبُرِّزَتِwaburrizatiAnd (will be) made manifest
ٱلْجَحِيمُl-jaḥīmuthe Hellfire
لِلْغَاوِينَlil'ghāwīnato the deviators

Translation

And (will be) made manifest the Hellfire to the deviators

Verse 92

وَقِيلَwaqīlaAnd it will be said
لَهُمْlahumto them
أَيْنَaynaWhere
مَاmā(is) that
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used
تَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūna(to) worship

Translation

And it will be said to them Where (is) that you used (to) worship

Verse 93

مِنminBesides Allah
دُونِdūniBesides Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahiBesides Allah
هَلْhalCan
يَنصُرُونَكُمْyanṣurūnakumthey help you
أَوْawor
يَنتَصِرُونَyantaṣirūnahelp themselves

Translation

Besides Allah Besides Allah Besides Allah Can they help you or help themselves

Verse 94

فَكُبْكِبُوا۟fakub'kibūThen they will be overturned
فِيهَاfīhāinto it
هُمْhumthey
وَٱلْغَاوُۥنَwal-ghāwūnaand the deviators

Translation

Then they will be overturned into it they and the deviators

Verse 95

وَجُنُودُwajunūduAnd (the) hosts
إِبْلِيسَib'līsa(of) Iblis
أَجْمَعُونَajmaʿūnaall together

Translation

And (the) hosts (of) Iblis all together

Verse 96

قَالُوا۟qālūThey (will) say
وَهُمْwahumwhile they
فِيهَاfīhāin it
يَخْتَصِمُونَyakhtaṣimūna(are) disputing

Translation

They (will) say while they in it (are) disputing

Verse 97

تَٱللَّهِtal-lahiBy Allah
إِنinindeed
كُنَّاkunnāwe were
لَفِىlafīsurely in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢḍalālinerror
مُّبِينٍmubīninclear

Translation

By Allah indeed we were surely in error clear

Verse 98

إِذْidhWhen
نُسَوِّيكُمnusawwīkumwe equated you
بِرَبِّbirabbiwith (the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

When we equated you with (the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 99

وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَضَلَّنَآaḍallanāmisguided us
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَl-muj'rimūnathe criminals

Translation

And not misguided us except the criminals

Verse 100

فَمَاfamāSo (now) not
لَنَاlanāwe have
مِنminany
شَـٰفِعِينَshāfiʿīnaintercessors

Translation

So (now) not we have any intercessors

Verse 101

وَلَاwalāAnd not
صَدِيقٍṣadīqina friend
حَمِيمٍۢḥamīminclose

Translation

And not a friend close

Verse 102

فَلَوْfalawThen if
أَنَّannathat
لَنَاlanāwe had
كَرَّةًۭkarratana return
فَنَكُونَfanakūnathen we could be
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers

Translation

Then if that we had a return then we could be of the believers

Verse 103

إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖlaāyatansurely is a Sign
وَمَاwamābut not
كَانَkānaare
أَكْثَرُهُمaktharuhummost of them
مُّؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers

Translation

Indeed in that surely is a Sign but not are most of them believers

Verse 104

وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
لَهُوَlahuwasurely He
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful

Translation

And indeed your Lord surely He (is) the All-Mighty the Most Merciful

Verse 105

كَذَّبَتْkadhabatDenied
قَوْمُqawmu(the) people
نُوحٍnūḥin(of) Nuh
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Translation

Denied (the) people (of) Nuh the Messengers

Verse 106

إِذْidhWhen
قَالَqālasaid
لَهُمْlahumto them
أَخُوهُمْakhūhumtheir brother
نُوحٌnūḥunNuh
أَلَاalāWill not
تَتَّقُونَtattaqūnayou fear (Allah)

Translation

When said to them their brother Nuh Will not you fear (Allah)

Verse 107

إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
لَكُمْlakumto you
رَسُولٌrasūluna Messenger
أَمِينٌۭamīnuntrustworthy

Translation

Indeed, I am to you a Messenger trustworthy

Verse 108

فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqūSo fear
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
وَأَطِيعُونِwa-aṭīʿūniand obey me

Translation

So fear Allah and obey me

Verse 109

وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَسْـَٔلُكُمْasalukumI ask (of) you
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor it
مِنْminany
أَجْرٍ ۖajrinpayment
إِنْinNot
أَجْرِىَajriya(is) my payment
إِلَّاillābut
عَلَىٰʿalāfrom
رَبِّrabbi(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

And not I ask (of) you for it any payment Not (is) my payment but from (the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 110

فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqūSo fear
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
وَأَطِيعُونِwa-aṭīʿūniand obey me

Translation

So fear Allah and obey me

Verse 111

۞ قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey said
أَنُؤْمِنُanu'minuShould we believe
لَكَlakain you
وَٱتَّبَعَكَwa-ittabaʿakawhile followed you
ٱلْأَرْذَلُونَl-ardhalūnathe lowest

Translation

They said Should we believe in you while followed you the lowest

Verse 112

قَالَqālaHe said
وَمَاwamāAnd what
عِلْمِىʿil'mī(do) I know
بِمَاbimāof what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūna(to) do

Translation

He said And what (do) I know of what they used (to) do

Verse 113

إِنْinVerily
حِسَابُهُمْḥisābuhumtheir account
إِلَّاillā(is) but
عَلَىٰʿalāupon
رَبِّى ۖrabbīmy Lord
لَوْlawif
تَشْعُرُونَtashʿurūnayou perceive

Translation

Verily their account (is) but upon my Lord if you perceive

Verse 114

وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَنَا۠anāI am
بِطَارِدِbiṭāridithe one to drive away
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers

Translation

And not I am the one to drive away the believers

Verse 115

إِنْinNot
أَنَا۠anāI am
إِلَّاillābut
نَذِيرٌۭnadhīruna warner
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclear

Translation

Not I am but a warner clear

Verse 116

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
لَئِنla-inIf
لَّمْlamnot
تَنتَهِtantahiyou desist
يَـٰنُوحُyānūḥuO Nuh
لَتَكُونَنَّlatakūnannaSurely you will be
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمَرْجُومِينَl-marjūmīnathose who are stoned

Translation

They said If not you desist O Nuh Surely you will be of those who are stoned

Verse 117

قَالَqālaHe said
رَبِّrabbiMy Lord
إِنَّinnaIndeed
قَوْمِىqawmīmy people
كَذَّبُونِkadhabūnihave denied me

Translation

He said My Lord Indeed my people have denied me

Verse 118

فَٱفْتَحْfa-if'taḥSo judge
بَيْنِىbaynībetween me
وَبَيْنَهُمْwabaynahumand between them
فَتْحًۭاfatḥan(with decisive) judgment
وَنَجِّنِىwanajjinīand save me
وَمَنwamanand who
مَّعِىَmaʿiya(are) with me
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers

Translation

So judge between me and between them (with decisive) judgment and save me and who (are) with me of the believers

Verse 119

فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُfa-anjaynāhuSo We saved him
وَمَنwamanand who
مَّعَهُۥmaʿahu(were) with him
فِىfīin
ٱلْفُلْكِl-ful'kithe ship
ٱلْمَشْحُونِl-mashḥūniladen

Translation

So We saved him and who (were) with him in the ship laden

Verse 120

ثُمَّthummaThen
أَغْرَقْنَاaghraqnāWe drowned
بَعْدُbaʿduthereafter
ٱلْبَاقِينَl-bāqīnathe remaining ones

Translation

Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones

Verse 121

إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖlaāyatansurely, (is) a sign
وَمَاwamābut not
كَانَkānaare
أَكْثَرُهُمaktharuhummost of them
مُّؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers

Translation

Indeed in that surely, (is) a sign but not are most of them believers

Verse 122

وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
لَهُوَlahuwasurely, He
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful

Translation

And indeed your Lord surely, He (is) the All-Mighty the Most Merciful

Verse 123

كَذَّبَتْkadhabatDenied
عَادٌʿādun(the people) of Aad
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Translation

Denied (the people) of Aad the Messengers

Verse 124

إِذْidhWhen
قَالَqālasaid
لَهُمْlahumto them
أَخُوهُمْakhūhumtheir brother
هُودٌhūdunHud
أَلَاalāWill not
تَتَّقُونَtattaqūnayou fear (Allah)

Translation

When said to them their brother Hud Will not you fear (Allah)

Verse 125

إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
لَكُمْlakumto you
رَسُولٌrasūluna Messenger
أَمِينٌۭamīnuntrustworthy

Translation

Indeed, I am to you a Messenger trustworthy

Verse 126

فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqūSo fear
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
وَأَطِيعُونِwa-aṭīʿūniand obey me

Translation

So fear Allah and obey me

Verse 127

وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَسْـَٔلُكُمْasalukumI ask you
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor it
مِنْminany
أَجْرٍ ۖajrinpayment
إِنْinNot
أَجْرِىَajriya(is) my payment
إِلَّاillāexcept
عَلَىٰʿalāfrom
رَبِّrabbi(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

And not I ask you for it any payment Not (is) my payment except from (the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 128

أَتَبْنُونَatabnūnaDo you construct
بِكُلِّbikullion every
رِيعٍrīʿinelevation
ءَايَةًۭāyatana sign
تَعْبَثُونَtaʿbathūnaamusing yourselves

Translation

Do you construct on every elevation a sign amusing yourselves

Verse 129

وَتَتَّخِذُونَwatattakhidhūnaAnd take for yourselves
مَصَانِعَmaṣāniʿastrongholds
لَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumthat you may
تَخْلُدُونَtakhludūnalive forever

Translation

And take for yourselves strongholds that you may live forever

Verse 130

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
بَطَشْتُمbaṭashtumyou seize
بَطَشْتُمْbaṭashtumyou seize
جَبَّارِينَjabbārīna(as) tyrants

Translation

And when you seize you seize (as) tyrants

Verse 131

فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqūSo fear
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
وَأَطِيعُونِwa-aṭīʿūniand obey me

Translation

So fear Allah and obey me

Verse 132

وَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūAnd fear
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhīthe One Who
أَمَدَّكُمamaddakumhas aided you
بِمَاbimāwith what
تَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou know

Translation

And fear the One Who has aided you with what you know

Verse 133

أَمَدَّكُمamaddakumHe has aided you
بِأَنْعَـٰمٍۢbi-anʿāminwith cattle
وَبَنِينَwabanīnaand children

Translation

He has aided you with cattle and children

Verse 134

وَجَنَّـٰتٍۢwajannātinAnd gardens
وَعُيُونٍwaʿuyūninand springs

Translation

And gardens and springs

Verse 135

إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أَخَافُakhāfu[I] fear
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor you
عَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishment
يَوْمٍyawmin(of) a Day
عَظِيمٍۢʿaẓīminGreat

Translation

Indeed, I [I] fear for you (the) punishment (of) a Day Great

Verse 136

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
سَوَآءٌsawāon(It is) same
عَلَيْنَآʿalaynāto us
أَوَعَظْتَawaʿaẓtawhether you advise
أَمْamor
لَمْlamnot
تَكُنtakunyou are
مِّنَminaof
ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَl-wāʿiẓīnathe advisors

Translation

They said (It is) same to us whether you advise or not you are of the advisors

Verse 137

إِنْinNot
هَـٰذَآhādhā(is) this
إِلَّاillābut
خُلُقُkhuluqu(the) custom
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna(of) the former (people)

Translation

Not (is) this but (the) custom (of) the former (people)

Verse 138

وَمَاwamāAnd not
نَحْنُnaḥnuwe
بِمُعَذَّبِينَbimuʿadhabīna(are) the ones to be punished

Translation

And not we (are) the ones to be punished

Verse 139

فَكَذَّبُوهُfakadhabūhuSo they denied him
فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۗfa-ahlaknāhumthen We destroyed them
إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖlaāyatansurely, is a sign
وَمَاwamābut not
كَانَkānaare
أَكْثَرُهُمaktharuhummost of them
مُّؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers

Translation

So they denied him then We destroyed them Indeed in that surely, is a sign but not are most of them believers

Verse 140

وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
لَهُوَlahuwasurely, He
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful

Translation

And indeed your Lord surely, He (is) the All-Mighty the Most Merciful

Verse 141

كَذَّبَتْkadhabatDenied
ثَمُودُthamūduThamud
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Translation

Denied Thamud the Messengers

Verse 142

إِذْidhWhen
قَالَqālasaid
لَهُمْlahumto them
أَخُوهُمْakhūhumtheir brother
صَـٰلِحٌṣāliḥunSalih
أَلَاalāWill not
تَتَّقُونَtattaqūnayou fear (Allah)

Translation

When said to them their brother Salih Will not you fear (Allah)

Verse 143

إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
لَكُمْlakumto you
رَسُولٌrasūluna Messenger
أَمِينٌۭamīnuntrustworthy

Translation

Indeed, I am to you a Messenger trustworthy

Verse 144

فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqūSo fear
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
وَأَطِيعُونِwa-aṭīʿūniand obey me

Translation

So fear Allah and obey me

Verse 145

وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَسْـَٔلُكُمْasalukumI ask you
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor it
مِنْminany
أَجْرٍ ۖajrinpayment
إِنْinNot
أَجْرِىَajriya(is) my payment
إِلَّاillāexcept
عَلَىٰʿalāfrom
رَبِّrabbi(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

And not I ask you for it any payment Not (is) my payment except from (the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 146

أَتُتْرَكُونَatut'rakūnaWill you be left
فِىfīin
مَاmāwhat
هَـٰهُنَآhāhunā(is) here
ءَامِنِينَāminīnasecure

Translation

Will you be left in what (is) here secure

Verse 147

فِىfīIn
جَنَّـٰتٍۢjannātingardens
وَعُيُونٍۢwaʿuyūninand springs

Translation

In gardens and springs

Verse 148

وَزُرُوعٍۢwazurūʿinAnd cornfields
وَنَخْلٍۢwanakhlinand date-palms
طَلْعُهَاṭalʿuhāits spadix
هَضِيمٌۭhaḍīmunsoft

Translation

And cornfields and date-palms its spadix soft

Verse 149

وَتَنْحِتُونَwatanḥitūnaAnd you carve
مِنَminaof
ٱلْجِبَالِl-jibālithe mountains
بُيُوتًۭاbuyūtanhouses
فَـٰرِهِينَfārihīnaskillfully

Translation

And you carve of the mountains houses skillfully

Verse 150

فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqūSo fear
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
وَأَطِيعُونِwa-aṭīʿūniand obey me

Translation

So fear Allah and obey me

Verse 151

وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تُطِيعُوٓا۟tuṭīʿūobey
أَمْرَamra(the) command
ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَl-mus'rifīna(of) the transgressors

Translation

And (do) not obey (the) command (of) the transgressors

Verse 152

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
يُفْسِدُونَyuf'sidūnaspread corruption
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
يُصْلِحُونَyuṣ'liḥūnareform

Translation

Those who spread corruption in the earth and (do) not reform

Verse 153

قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey said
إِنَّمَآinnamāOnly
أَنتَantayou
مِنَmina(are) of
ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَl-musaḥarīnathose bewitched

Translation

They said Only you (are) of those bewitched

Verse 154

مَآmāNot
أَنتَantayou
إِلَّاillā(are) except
بَشَرٌۭbasharuna man
مِّثْلُنَاmith'lunālike us
فَأْتِfatiso bring
بِـَٔايَةٍbiāyatina sign
إِنinif
كُنتَkuntayou
مِنَmina(are) of
ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَl-ṣādiqīnathe truthful

Translation

Not you (are) except a man like us so bring a sign if you (are) of the truthful

Verse 155

قَالَqālaHe said
هَـٰذِهِۦhādhihiThis
نَاقَةٌۭnāqatun(is) a she-camel
لَّهَاlahāFor her
شِرْبٌۭshir'bun(is a share of) drink
وَلَكُمْwalakumand for you
شِرْبُshir'bu(is a share of) drink
يَوْمٍۢyawmin(on) a day
مَّعْلُومٍۢmaʿlūminknown

Translation

He said This (is) a she-camel For her (is a share of) drink and for you (is a share of) drink (on) a day known

Verse 156

وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَمَسُّوهَاtamassūhātouch her
بِسُوٓءٍۢbisūinwith harm
فَيَأْخُذَكُمْfayakhudhakumlest seize you
عَذَابُʿadhābu(the) punishment
يَوْمٍyawmin(of) a Day
عَظِيمٍۢʿaẓīminGreat

Translation

And (do) not touch her with harm lest seize you (the) punishment (of) a Day Great

Verse 157

فَعَقَرُوهَاfaʿaqarūhāBut they hamstrung her
فَأَصْبَحُوا۟fa-aṣbaḥūthen they became
نَـٰدِمِينَnādimīnaregretful

Translation

But they hamstrung her then they became regretful

Verse 158

فَأَخَذَهُمُfa-akhadhahumuSo seized them
ٱلْعَذَابُ ۗl-ʿadhābuthe punishment
إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖlaāyatansurely is a sign
وَمَاwamābut not
كَانَkānaare
أَكْثَرُهُمaktharuhummost of them
مُّؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers

Translation

So seized them the punishment Indeed in that surely is a sign but not are most of them believers

Verse 159

وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
لَهُوَlahuwasurely He
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful

Translation

And indeed your Lord surely He (is) the All-Mighty the Most Merciful

Verse 160

كَذَّبَتْkadhabatDenied
قَوْمُqawmu(the) people
لُوطٍlūṭin(of) Lut
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Translation

Denied (the) people (of) Lut the Messengers

Verse 161

إِذْidhWhen
قَالَqālasaid
لَهُمْlahumto them
أَخُوهُمْakhūhumtheir brother
لُوطٌlūṭunLut
أَلَاalāWill not
تَتَّقُونَtattaqūnayou fear (Allah)

Translation

When said to them their brother Lut Will not you fear (Allah)

Verse 162

إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
لَكُمْlakumto you
رَسُولٌrasūluna Messenger
أَمِينٌۭamīnuntrustworthy

Translation

Indeed, I am to you a Messenger trustworthy

Verse 163

فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqūSo fear
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
وَأَطِيعُونِwa-aṭīʿūniand obey me

Translation

So fear Allah and obey me

Verse 164

وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَسْـَٔلُكُمْasalukumI ask you
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor it
مِنْminany
أَجْرٍ ۖajrinpayment
إِنْinNot
أَجْرِىَajriya(is) my payment
إِلَّاillāexcept
عَلَىٰʿalāfrom
رَبِّrabbi(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

And not I ask you for it any payment Not (is) my payment except from (the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 165

أَتَأْتُونَatatūnaDo you approach
ٱلذُّكْرَانَl-dhuk'rānathe males
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds

Translation

Do you approach the males among the worlds

Verse 166

وَتَذَرُونَwatadharūnaAnd you leave
مَاmāwhat
خَلَقَkhalaqacreated
لَكُمْlakumfor you
رَبُّكُمrabbukumyour Lord
مِّنْminof
أَزْوَٰجِكُم ۚazwājikumyour mates
بَلْbalNay
أَنتُمْantumyou
قَوْمٌqawmun(are) a people
عَادُونَʿādūnatransgressing

Translation

And you leave what created for you your Lord of your mates Nay you (are) a people transgressing

Verse 167

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
لَئِنla-inIf
لَّمْlamnot
تَنتَهِtantahiyou desist
يَـٰلُوطُyālūṭuO Lut
لَتَكُونَنَّlatakūnannaSurely, you will be
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُخْرَجِينَl-mukh'rajīnathe ones driven out

Translation

They said If not you desist O Lut Surely, you will be of the ones driven out

Verse 168

قَالَqālaHe said
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
لِعَمَلِكُمliʿamalikum(of) your deed
مِّنَminaof
ٱلْقَالِينَl-qālīnathose who detest

Translation

He said Indeed, I am (of) your deed of those who detest

Verse 169

رَبِّrabbiMy Lord
نَجِّنِىnajjinīSave me
وَأَهْلِىwa-ahlīand my family
مِمَّاmimmāfrom what
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnathey do

Translation

My Lord Save me and my family from what they do

Verse 170

فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُfanajjaynāhuSo We saved him
وَأَهْلَهُۥٓwa-ahlahuand his family
أَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall

Translation

So We saved him and his family all

Verse 171

إِلَّاillāExcept
عَجُوزًۭاʿajūzanan old woman
فِىfī(was) among
ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَl-ghābirīnathose who remained behind

Translation

Except an old woman (was) among those who remained behind

Verse 172

ثُمَّthummaThen
دَمَّرْنَاdammarnāWe destroyed
ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَl-ākharīnathe others

Translation

Then We destroyed the others

Verse 173

وَأَمْطَرْنَاwa-amṭarnāAnd We rained
عَلَيْهِمʿalayhimupon them
مَّطَرًۭا ۖmaṭarana rain
فَسَآءَfasāaand evil was
مَطَرُmaṭaru(was) the rain
ٱلْمُنذَرِينَl-mundharīna(on) those who were warned

Translation

And We rained upon them a rain and evil was (was) the rain (on) those who were warned

Verse 174

إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖlaāyatansurely is a sign
وَمَاwamābut not
كَانَkānaare
أَكْثَرُهُمaktharuhummost of them
مُّؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers

Translation

Indeed in that surely is a sign but not are most of them believers

Verse 175

وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
لَهُوَlahuwasurely, He
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful

Translation

And indeed your Lord surely, He (is) the All-Mighty the Most Merciful

Verse 176

كَذَّبَkadhabaDenied
أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(the) companions
لْـَٔيْكَةِal'aykati(of the) Wood
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Translation

Denied (the) companions (of the) Wood the Messengers

Verse 177

إِذْidhWhen
قَالَqālasaid
لَهُمْlahumto them
شُعَيْبٌshuʿaybunShuaib
أَلَاalāWill not
تَتَّقُونَtattaqūnayou fear (Allah)

Translation

When said to them Shuaib Will not you fear (Allah)

Verse 178

إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
لَكُمْlakumto you
رَسُولٌrasūluna Messenger
أَمِينٌۭamīnuntrustworthy

Translation

Indeed, I am to you a Messenger trustworthy

Verse 179

فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqūSo fear
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
وَأَطِيعُونِwa-aṭīʿūniand obey me

Translation

So fear Allah and obey me

Verse 180

وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَسْـَٔلُكُمْasalukumI ask (of) you
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor it
مِنْminany
أَجْرٍ ۖajrinpayment
إِنْinNot
أَجْرِىَajriya(is) my payment
إِلَّاillāexcept
عَلَىٰʿalāfrom
رَبِّrabbi(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

And not I ask (of) you for it any payment Not (is) my payment except from (the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 181

۞ أَوْفُوا۟awfūGive full
ٱلْكَيْلَl-kaylameasure
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَكُونُوا۟takūnūbe
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُخْسِرِينَl-mukh'sirīnathose who cause loss

Translation

Give full measure and (do) not be of those who cause loss

Verse 182

وَزِنُوا۟wazinūAnd weigh
بِٱلْقِسْطَاسِbil-qis'ṭāsiwith a balance
ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِl-mus'taqīmi[the] even

Translation

And weigh with a balance [the] even

Verse 183

وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَبْخَسُوا۟tabkhasūdeprive
ٱلنَّاسَl-nāsapeople
أَشْيَآءَهُمْashyāahum(of) their things
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَعْثَوْا۟taʿthawcommit evil
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
مُفْسِدِينَmuf'sidīnaspreading corruption

Translation

And (do) not deprive people (of) their things and (do) not commit evil in the earth spreading corruption

Verse 184

وَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūAnd fear
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One Who
خَلَقَكُمْkhalaqakumcreated you
وَٱلْجِبِلَّةَwal-jibilataand the generations
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe former

Translation

And fear the One Who created you and the generations the former

Verse 185

قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey said
إِنَّمَآinnamāOnly
أَنتَantayou
مِنَmina(are) of
ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَl-musaḥarīnathose bewitched

Translation

They said Only you (are) of those bewitched

Verse 186

وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَنتَantayou
إِلَّاillā(are) except
بَشَرٌۭbasharuna man
مِّثْلُنَاmith'lunālike us
وَإِنwa-inand indeed
نَّظُنُّكَnaẓunnukawe think you
لَمِنَlaminasurely (are) of
ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَl-kādhibīnathe liars

Translation

And not you (are) except a man like us and indeed we think you surely (are) of the liars

Verse 187

فَأَسْقِطْfa-asqiṭThen cause to fall
عَلَيْنَاʿalaynāupon us
كِسَفًۭاkisafanfragments
مِّنَminaof
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
إِنinif
كُنتَkuntayou are
مِنَminaof
ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَl-ṣādiqīnathe truthful

Translation

Then cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky if you are of the truthful

Verse 188

قَالَqālaHe said
رَبِّىٓrabbīMy Lord
أَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows best
بِمَاbimāof what
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do

Translation

He said My Lord knows best of what you do

Verse 189

فَكَذَّبُوهُfakadhabūhuBut they denied him
فَأَخَذَهُمْfa-akhadhahumso seized them
عَذَابُʿadhābu(the) punishment
يَوْمِyawmi(of the) day
ٱلظُّلَّةِ ۚl-ẓulati(of) the shadow
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, it
كَانَkānawas
عَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishment
يَوْمٍyawmin(of) a Day
عَظِيمٍʿaẓīminGreat

Translation

But they denied him so seized them (the) punishment (of the) day (of) the shadow Indeed, it was (the) punishment (of) a Day Great

Verse 190

إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖlaāyatansurely, is a sign
وَمَاwamābut not
كَانَkānaare
أَكْثَرُهُمaktharuhummost of them
مُّؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers

Translation

Indeed in that surely, is a sign but not are most of them believers

Verse 191

وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
لَهُوَlahuwasurely, He
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful

Translation

And indeed your Lord surely, He (is) the All-Mighty the Most Merciful

Verse 192

وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuAnd indeed, it
لَتَنزِيلُlatanzīlusurely, is a Revelation
رَبِّrabbi(of the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

And indeed, it surely, is a Revelation (of the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 193

نَزَلَnazalaHas brought it down
بِهِbihiHas brought it down
ٱلرُّوحُl-rūḥuthe Spirit
ٱلْأَمِينُl-amīnu[the] Trustworthy

Translation

Has brought it down Has brought it down the Spirit [the] Trustworthy

Verse 194

عَلَىٰʿalāUpon
قَلْبِكَqalbikayour heart
لِتَكُونَlitakūnathat you may be
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُنذِرِينَl-mundhirīnathe warners

Translation

Upon your heart that you may be of the warners

Verse 195

بِلِسَانٍbilisāninIn language
عَرَبِىٍّۢʿarabiyyinArabic
مُّبِينٍۢmubīninclear

Translation

In language Arabic clear

Verse 196

وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuAnd indeed, it
لَفِىlafīsurely, (is) in
زُبُرِzuburi(the) Scriptures
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna(of) the former (people)

Translation

And indeed, it surely, (is) in (the) Scriptures (of) the former (people)

Verse 197

أَوَلَمْawalamIs it not
يَكُنyakunIs it not
لَّهُمْlahumto them
ءَايَةًāyatana sign
أَنanthat
يَعْلَمَهُۥyaʿlamahuknow it
عُلَمَـٰٓؤُا۟ʿulamāu(the) scholars
بَنِىٓbanī(of the) Children
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israel

Translation

Is it not Is it not to them a sign that know it (the) scholars (of the) Children (of) Israel

Verse 198

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
نَزَّلْنَـٰهُnazzalnāhuWe (had) revealed it
عَلَىٰʿalāto
بَعْضِbaʿḍiany
ٱلْأَعْجَمِينَl-aʿjamīna(of) the non-Arabs

Translation

And if We (had) revealed it to any (of) the non-Arabs

Verse 199

فَقَرَأَهُۥfaqara-ahuAnd he (had) recited it
عَلَيْهِمʿalayhimto them
مَّاmānot
كَانُوا۟kānūthey would
بِهِۦbihiin it
مُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīna(be) believers

Translation

And he (had) recited it to them not they would in it (be) believers

Verse 200

كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
سَلَكْنَـٰهُsalaknāhuWe have inserted it
فِىfīinto
قُلُوبِqulūbi(the) hearts
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīna(of) the criminals

Translation

Thus We have inserted it into (the) hearts (of) the criminals

Verse 201

لَاlāNot
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey will believe
بِهِۦbihiin it
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
يَرَوُا۟yarawūthey see
ٱلْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishment
ٱلْأَلِيمَl-alīma[the] painful

Translation

Not they will believe in it until they see the punishment [the] painful

Verse 202

فَيَأْتِيَهُمfayatiyahumAnd it will come to them
بَغْتَةًۭbaghtatansuddenly
وَهُمْwahumwhile they
لَاlā(do) not
يَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnaperceive

Translation

And it will come to them suddenly while they (do) not perceive

Verse 203

فَيَقُولُوا۟fayaqūlūThen they will say
هَلْhalAre
نَحْنُnaḥnuwe
مُنظَرُونَmunẓarūna(to be) reprieved

Translation

Then they will say Are we (to be) reprieved

Verse 204

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَاafabiʿadhābināSo is it for Our punishment
يَسْتَعْجِلُونَyastaʿjilūnathey wish to hasten

Translation

So is it for Our punishment they wish to hasten

Verse 205

أَفَرَءَيْتَafara-aytaThen have you seen
إِنinif
مَّتَّعْنَـٰهُمْmattaʿnāhumWe let them enjoy
سِنِينَsinīna(for) years

Translation

Then have you seen if We let them enjoy (for) years

Verse 206

ثُمَّthummaThen
جَآءَهُمjāahumcomes to them
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey were
يُوعَدُونَyūʿadūnapromised

Translation

Then comes to them what they were promised

Verse 207

مَآmāNot
أَغْنَىٰaghnā(will) avail
عَنْهُمʿanhumthem
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūenjoyment they were given
يُمَتَّعُونَyumattaʿūnaenjoyment they were given

Translation

Not (will) avail them what enjoyment they were given enjoyment they were given

Verse 208

وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَهْلَكْنَاahlaknāWe destroyed
مِنminany
قَرْيَةٍqaryatintown
إِلَّاillābut
لَهَاlahāit had
مُنذِرُونَmundhirūnawarners

Translation

And not We destroyed any town but it had warners

Verse 209

ذِكْرَىٰdhik'rā(To) remind
وَمَاwamāand not
كُنَّاkunnāWe are
ظَـٰلِمِينَẓālimīnaunjust

Translation

(To) remind and not We are unjust

Verse 210

وَمَاwamāAnd not
تَنَزَّلَتْtanazzalathave brought it down
بِهِbihihave brought it down
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُl-shayāṭīnuthe devils

Translation

And not have brought it down have brought it down the devils

Verse 211

وَمَاwamāAnd not
يَنۢبَغِىyanbaghī(it) suits
لَهُمْlahum[for] them
وَمَاwamāand not
يَسْتَطِيعُونَyastaṭīʿūnathey are able

Translation

And not (it) suits [for] them and not they are able

Verse 212

إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, they
عَنِʿanifrom
ٱلسَّمْعِl-samʿithe hearing
لَمَعْزُولُونَlamaʿzūlūna(are) surely banished

Translation

Indeed, they from the hearing (are) surely banished

Verse 213

فَلَاfalāSo (do) not
تَدْعُtadʿuinvoke
مَعَmaʿawith
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
إِلَـٰهًاilāhangod
ءَاخَرَākharaanother
فَتَكُونَfatakūnalest you be
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُعَذَّبِينَl-muʿadhabīnathose punished

Translation

So (do) not invoke with Allah god another lest you be of those punished

Verse 214

وَأَنذِرْwa-andhirAnd warn
عَشِيرَتَكَʿashīratakayour kindred
ٱلْأَقْرَبِينَl-aqrabīna[the] closest

Translation

And warn your kindred [the] closest

Verse 215

وَٱخْفِضْwa-ikh'fiḍAnd lower
جَنَاحَكَjanāḥakayour wing
لِمَنِlimanito (those) who
ٱتَّبَعَكَittabaʿakafollow you
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers

Translation

And lower your wing to (those) who follow you of the believers

Verse 216

فَإِنْfa-inThen if
عَصَوْكَʿaṣawkathey disobey you
فَقُلْfaqulthen say
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
بَرِىٓءٌۭbarīoninnocent
مِّمَّاmimmāof what
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do

Translation

Then if they disobey you then say Indeed, I am innocent of what you do

Verse 217

وَتَوَكَّلْwatawakkalAnd put (your) trust
عَلَىʿalāin
ٱلْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzithe All-Mighty
ٱلرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmithe Most Merciful

Translation

And put (your) trust in the All-Mighty the Most Merciful

Verse 218

ٱلَّذِىalladhīThe One Who
يَرَىٰكَyarākasees you
حِينَḥīnawhen
تَقُومُtaqūmuyou stand up

Translation

The One Who sees you when you stand up

Verse 219

وَتَقَلُّبَكَwataqallubakaAnd your movements
فِىfīamong
ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَl-sājidīnathose who prostrate

Translation

And your movements among those who prostrate

Verse 220

إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
هُوَhuwa[He]
ٱلسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearer
ٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower

Translation

Indeed, He [He] (is) the All-Hearer the All-Knower

Verse 221

هَلْhalShall
أُنَبِّئُكُمْunabbi-ukumI inform you
عَلَىٰʿalāupon
مَنmanwhom
تَنَزَّلُtanazzaludescend
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُl-shayāṭīnuthe devils

Translation

Shall I inform you upon whom descend the devils

Verse 222

تَنَزَّلُtanazzaluThey descend
عَلَىٰʿalāupon
كُلِّkullievery
أَفَّاكٍaffākinliar
أَثِيمٍۢathīminsinful

Translation

They descend upon every liar sinful

Verse 223

يُلْقُونَyul'qūnaThey pass on
ٱلسَّمْعَl-samʿa(what is) heard
وَأَكْثَرُهُمْwa-aktharuhumand most of them
كَـٰذِبُونَkādhibūna(are) liars

Translation

They pass on (what is) heard and most of them (are) liars

Verse 224

وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُwal-shuʿarāuAnd the poets
يَتَّبِعُهُمُyattabiʿuhumufollow them
ٱلْغَاوُۥنَl-ghāwūnathe deviators

Translation

And the poets follow them the deviators

Verse 225

أَلَمْalamDo not
تَرَtarayou see
أَنَّهُمْannahumthat they
فِىfīin
كُلِّkullievery
وَادٍۢwādinvalley
يَهِيمُونَyahīmūna[they] roam

Translation

Do not you see that they in every valley [they] roam

Verse 226

وَأَنَّهُمْwa-annahumAnd that they
يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasay
مَاmāwhat
لَاlānot
يَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnathey do

Translation

And that they say what not they do

Verse 227

إِلَّاillāExcept
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
وَعَمِلُوا۟waʿamilūand do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deeds
وَذَكَرُوا۟wadhakarūand remember
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
كَثِيرًۭاkathīranmuch
وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟wa-intaṣarūand defend themselves
مِنۢminafter
بَعْدِbaʿdiafter
مَاmāafter
ظُلِمُوا۟ ۗẓulimūthey were wronged
وَسَيَعْلَمُwasayaʿlamuAnd will come to know
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ظَلَمُوٓا۟ẓalamūhave wronged
أَىَّayya(to) what
مُنقَلَبٍۢmunqalabinreturn
يَنقَلِبُونَyanqalibūnathey will return

Translation

Except those who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah much and defend themselves after after after they were wronged And will come to know those who have wronged (to) what return they will return
