Verse 1

الٓمٓalif-lam-meemAlif Lam Meem

Translation

Alif Lam Meem

Verse 2

تِلْكَtil'kaThese
ءَايَـٰتُāyātu(are) Verses
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
ٱلْحَكِيمِl-ḥakīmithe Wise

Translation

These (are) Verses (of) the Book the Wise

Verse 3

هُدًۭىhudanA guidance
وَرَحْمَةًۭwaraḥmatanand a mercy
لِّلْمُحْسِنِينَlil'muḥ'sinīnafor the good-doers

Translation

A guidance and a mercy for the good-doers

Verse 4

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
يُقِيمُونَyuqīmūnaestablish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe prayer
وَيُؤْتُونَwayu'tūnaand give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَl-zakatazakah
وَهُمwahumand they
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafter
هُمْhum[they]
يُوقِنُونَyūqinūnabelieve firmly

Translation

Those who establish the prayer and give zakah and they in the Hereafter [they] believe firmly

Verse 5

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
عَلَىٰʿalā(are) on
هُدًۭىhudanguidance
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّهِمْ ۖrabbihimtheir Lord
وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَwa-ulāikaand those
هُمُhumu[they]
ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَl-muf'liḥūna(are) the successful

Translation

Those (are) on guidance from their Lord and those [they] (are) the successful

Verse 6

وَمِنَwaminaAnd of
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsithe mankind
مَنman(is he) who
يَشْتَرِىyashtarīpurchases
لَهْوَlahwaidle tales
ٱلْحَدِيثِl-ḥadīthiidle tales
لِيُضِلَّliyuḍillato mislead
عَنʿanfrom
سَبِيلِsabīli(the) path
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
عِلْمٍۢʿil'minknowledge
وَيَتَّخِذَهَاwayattakhidhahāand takes it
هُزُوًا ۚhuzuwan(in) ridicule
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
لَهُمْlahumfor them
عَذَابٌۭʿadhābun(is) a punishment
مُّهِينٌۭmuhīnunhumiliating

Translation

And of the mankind (is he) who purchases idle tales idle tales to mislead from (the) path (of) Allah without knowledge and takes it (in) ridicule Those for them (is) a punishment humiliating

Verse 7

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
تُتْلَىٰtut'lāare recited
عَلَيْهِʿalayhito him
ءَايَـٰتُنَاāyātunāOur Verses
وَلَّىٰwallāhe turns away
مُسْتَكْبِرًۭاmus'takbiranarrogantly
كَأَنka-anas if
لَّمْlamnot
يَسْمَعْهَاyasmaʿhāhe (had) heard them
كَأَنَّka-annaas if
فِىٓfīin
أُذُنَيْهِudhunayhihis ears
وَقْرًۭا ۖwaqran(is) deafness
فَبَشِّرْهُfabashir'huSo give him tidings
بِعَذَابٍbiʿadhābinof a punishment
أَلِيمٍalīminpainful

Translation

And when are recited to him Our Verses he turns away arrogantly as if not he (had) heard them as if in his ears (is) deafness So give him tidings of a punishment painful

Verse 8

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
وَعَمِلُوا۟waʿamilūand do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deeds
لَهُمْlahumfor them
جَنَّـٰتُjannātu(are) Gardens
ٱلنَّعِيمِl-naʿīmi(of) Delight

Translation

Indeed those who believe and do righteous deeds for them (are) Gardens (of) Delight

Verse 9

خَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīna(To) abide forever
فِيهَا ۖfīhāin it
وَعْدَwaʿda(The) Promise of Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(The) Promise of Allah
حَقًّۭا ۚḥaqqan(is) true
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise

Translation

(To) abide forever in it (The) Promise of Allah (The) Promise of Allah (is) true And He (is) the All-Mighty the All-Wise

Verse 10

خَلَقَkhalaqaHe created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
عَمَدٍۢʿamadinpillars
تَرَوْنَهَا ۖtarawnahāthat you see
وَأَلْقَىٰwa-alqāand has cast
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
رَوَٰسِىَrawāsiyafirm mountains
أَنanlest
تَمِيدَtamīdait (might) shake
بِكُمْbikumwith you
وَبَثَّwabathaand He dispersed
فِيهَاfīhāin it
مِنminfrom
كُلِّkullievery
دَآبَّةٍۢ ۚdābbatincreature
وَأَنزَلْنَاwa-anzalnāAnd We sent down
مِنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
مَآءًۭmāanwater
فَأَنۢبَتْنَاfa-anbatnāthen We caused to grow
فِيهَاfīhātherein
مِنminof
كُلِّkullievery
زَوْجٍۢzawjinkind
كَرِيمٍkarīminnoble

Translation

He created the heavens without pillars that you see and has cast in the earth firm mountains lest it (might) shake with you and He dispersed in it from every creature And We sent down from the sky water then We caused to grow therein of every kind noble

Verse 11

هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
خَلْقُkhalqu(is the) creation
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
فَأَرُونِىfa-arūnīSo show Me
مَاذَاmādhāwhat
خَلَقَkhalaqahave created
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose
مِنminbesides Him
دُونِهِۦ ۚdūnihibesides Him
بَلِbaliNay
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
فِىfī(are) in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢḍalālinerror
مُّبِينٍۢmubīninclear

Translation

This (is the) creation (of) Allah So show Me what have created those besides Him besides Him Nay the wrongdoers (are) in error clear

Verse 12

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
ءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gave
لُقْمَـٰنَluq'mānaLuqman
ٱلْحِكْمَةَl-ḥik'matathe wisdom
أَنِanithat
ٱشْكُرْush'kurBe grateful
لِلَّهِ ۚlillahito Allah
وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
يَشْكُرْyashkur(is) grateful
فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen only
يَشْكُرُyashkuruhe is grateful
لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖlinafsihifor himself
وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
كَفَرَkafara(is) ungrateful
فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
غَنِىٌّghaniyyun(is) Free of need
حَمِيدٌۭḥamīdunPraiseworthy

Translation

And verily We gave Luqman the wisdom that Be grateful to Allah And whoever (is) grateful then only he is grateful for himself And whoever (is) ungrateful then indeed Allah (is) Free of need Praiseworthy

Verse 13

وَإِذْwa-idhAnd when
قَالَqālasaid
لُقْمَـٰنُluq'mānuLuqman
لِٱبْنِهِۦli-ib'nihito his son
وَهُوَwahuwawhile he
يَعِظُهُۥyaʿiẓuhu(was) instructing him
يَـٰبُنَىَّyābunayyaO my son
لَاlā(Do) not
تُشْرِكْtush'rikassociate partners
بِٱللَّهِ ۖbil-lahiwith Allah
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلشِّرْكَl-shir'kaassociating partners
لَظُلْمٌlaẓul'mun(is) surely an injustice
عَظِيمٌۭʿaẓīmungreat

Translation

And when said Luqman to his son while he (was) instructing him O my son (Do) not associate partners with Allah Indeed associating partners (is) surely an injustice great

Verse 14

وَوَصَّيْنَاwawaṣṣaynāAnd We have enjoined
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insāna(upon) man
بِوَٰلِدَيْهِbiwālidayhifor his parents
حَمَلَتْهُḥamalathucarried him
أُمُّهُۥummuhuhis mother
وَهْنًاwahnan(in) weakness
عَلَىٰʿalāupon
وَهْنٍۢwahninweakness
وَفِصَـٰلُهُۥwafiṣāluhuand his weaning
فِىfī(is) in
عَامَيْنِʿāmaynitwo years
أَنِanithat
ٱشْكُرْush'kurBe grateful
لِىlīto Me
وَلِوَٰلِدَيْكَwaliwālidaykaand to your parents
إِلَىَّilayyatowards Me
ٱلْمَصِيرُl-maṣīru(is) the destination

Translation

And We have enjoined (upon) man for his parents carried him his mother (in) weakness upon weakness and his weaning (is) in two years that Be grateful to Me and to your parents towards Me (is) the destination

Verse 15

وَإِنwa-inBut if
جَـٰهَدَاكَjāhadākathey strive against you
عَلَىٰٓʿalāon
أَنanthat
تُشْرِكَtush'rikayou associate partners
بِىbīwith Me
مَاmāwhat
لَيْسَlaysanot
لَكَlakayou have
بِهِۦbihiof it
عِلْمٌۭʿil'munany knowledge
فَلَاfalāthen (do) not
تُطِعْهُمَا ۖtuṭiʿ'humāobey both of them
وَصَاحِبْهُمَاwaṣāḥib'humāBut accompany them
فِىfīin
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe world
مَعْرُوفًۭا ۖmaʿrūfan(with) kindness
وَٱتَّبِعْwa-ittabiʿand follow
سَبِيلَsabīla(the) path
مَنْman(of him) who
أَنَابَanābaturns
إِلَىَّ ۚilayyato Me
ثُمَّthummaThen
إِلَىَّilayyatowards Me
مَرْجِعُكُمْmarjiʿukum(is) your return
فَأُنَبِّئُكُمfa-unabbi-ukumthen I will inform you
بِمَاbimāof what
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used (to)
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado

Translation

But if they strive against you on that you associate partners with Me what not you have of it any knowledge then (do) not obey both of them But accompany them in the world (with) kindness and follow (the) path (of him) who turns to Me Then towards Me (is) your return then I will inform you of what you used (to) do

Verse 16

يَـٰبُنَىَّyābunayyaO my son
إِنَّهَآinnahāIndeed it
إِنinif
تَكُtakuit be
مِثْقَالَmith'qāla(the) weight
حَبَّةٍۢḥabbatin(of) a grain
مِّنْminof
خَرْدَلٍۢkhardalina mustard seed
فَتَكُنfatakunand it be
فِىfīin
صَخْرَةٍṣakhratina rock
أَوْawor
فِىfīin
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
أَوْawor
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
يَأْتِyatiAllah will bring it forth
بِهَاbihāAllah will bring it forth
ٱللَّهُ ۚl-lahuAllah will bring it forth
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
لَطِيفٌlaṭīfun(is) All-Subtle
خَبِيرٌۭkhabīrunAll-Aware

Translation

O my son Indeed it if it be (the) weight (of) a grain of a mustard seed and it be in a rock or in the heavens or in the earth Allah will bring it forth Allah will bring it forth Allah will bring it forth Indeed Allah (is) All-Subtle All-Aware

Verse 17

يَـٰبُنَىَّyābunayyaO my son
أَقِمِaqimiEstablish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe prayer
وَأْمُرْwamurand enjoin
بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِbil-maʿrūfi[with] the right
وَٱنْهَwa-in'haand forbid
عَنِʿanifrom
ٱلْمُنكَرِl-munkarithe wrong
وَٱصْبِرْwa-iṣ'birand be patient
عَلَىٰʿalāover
مَآmāwhat
أَصَابَكَ ۖaṣābakabefalls you
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
مِنْmin(is) of
عَزْمِʿazmithe matters requiring determination
ٱلْأُمُورِl-umūrithe matters requiring determination

Translation

O my son Establish the prayer and enjoin [with] the right and forbid from the wrong and be patient over what befalls you Indeed that (is) of the matters requiring determination the matters requiring determination

Verse 18

وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تُصَعِّرْtuṣaʿʿirturn
خَدَّكَkhaddakayour cheek
لِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifrom men
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَمْشِtamshiwalk
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
مَرَحًا ۖmaraḥanexultantly
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
لَاlā(does) not
يُحِبُّyuḥibbulike
كُلَّkullaevery
مُخْتَالٍۢmukh'tālinself-conceited
فَخُورٍۢfakhūrinboaster

Translation

And (do) not turn your cheek from men and (do) not walk in the earth exultantly Indeed Allah (does) not like every self-conceited boaster

Verse 19

وَٱقْصِدْwa-iq'ṣidAnd be moderate
فِىfīin
مَشْيِكَmashyikayour pace
وَٱغْضُضْwa-ugh'ḍuḍand lower
مِنmin[of]
صَوْتِكَ ۚṣawtikayour voice
إِنَّinnaIndeed
أَنكَرَankara(the) harshest
ٱلْأَصْوَٰتِl-aṣwāti(of all) sounds
لَصَوْتُlaṣawtu(is) surely (the) voice
ٱلْحَمِيرِl-ḥamīri(of) the donkeys

Translation

And be moderate in your pace and lower [of] your voice Indeed (the) harshest (of all) sounds (is) surely (the) voice (of) the donkeys

Verse 20

أَلَمْalamDo not
تَرَوْا۟tarawyou see
أَنَّannathat
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
سَخَّرَsakharahas subjected
لَكُمlakumto you
مَّاmāwhatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَمَاwamāand whatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
وَأَسْبَغَwa-asbaghaand amply bestowed
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon you
نِعَمَهُۥniʿamahuHis Bounties
ظَـٰهِرَةًۭẓāhiratanapparent
وَبَاطِنَةًۭ ۗwabāṭinatanand hidden
وَمِنَwaminaBut of
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsithe people
مَنman(is he) who
يُجَـٰدِلُyujādiludisputes
فِىfīabout
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
عِلْمٍۢʿil'minknowledge
وَلَاwalāand not
هُدًۭىhudanguidance
وَلَاwalāand not
كِتَـٰبٍۢkitābina book
مُّنِيرٍۢmunīrinenlightening

Translation

Do not you see that Allah has subjected to you whatever (is) in the heavens and whatever (is) in the earth and amply bestowed upon you His Bounties apparent and hidden But of the people (is he) who disputes about Allah without knowledge and not guidance and not a book enlightening

Verse 21

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
قِيلَqīlait is said
لَهُمُlahumuto them
ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ittabiʿūFollow
مَآmāwhat
أَنزَلَanzalaAllah (has) revealed
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah (has) revealed
قَالُوا۟qālūthey say
بَلْbalNay
نَتَّبِعُnattabiʿuwe will follow
مَاmāwhat
وَجَدْنَاwajadnāwe found
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion it
ءَابَآءَنَآ ۚābāanāour forefathers
أَوَلَوْawalawEven if
كَانَkānaShaitaan was
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُl-shayṭānuShaitaan was
يَدْعُوهُمْyadʿūhum(to) call them
إِلَىٰilāto
عَذَابِʿadhābi(the) punishment
ٱلسَّعِيرِl-saʿīri(of) the Blaze

Translation

And when it is said to them Follow what Allah (has) revealed Allah (has) revealed they say Nay we will follow what we found on it our forefathers Even if Shaitaan was Shaitaan was (to) call them to (the) punishment (of) the Blaze

Verse 22

۞ وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
يُسْلِمْyus'limsubmits
وَجْهَهُۥٓwajhahuhis face
إِلَىilāto
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
وَهُوَwahuwawhile he
مُحْسِنٌۭmuḥ'sinun(is) a good-doer
فَقَدِfaqadithen indeed
ٱسْتَمْسَكَis'tamsakahe has grasped
بِٱلْعُرْوَةِbil-ʿur'watithe handhold
ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ ۗl-wuth'qāthe most trustworthy
وَإِلَىwa-ilāAnd to
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
عَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(is the) end
ٱلْأُمُورِl-umūri(of) the matters

Translation

And whoever submits his face to Allah while he (is) a good-doer then indeed he has grasped the handhold the most trustworthy And to Allah (is the) end (of) the matters

Verse 23

وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
كَفَرَkafaradisbelieves
فَلَاfalālet not
يَحْزُنكَyaḥzunkagrieve you
كُفْرُهُۥٓ ۚkuf'ruhuhis disbelief
إِلَيْنَاilaynāTo Us
مَرْجِعُهُمْmarjiʿuhum(is) their return
فَنُنَبِّئُهُمfanunabbi-uhumthen We will inform them
بِمَاbimāof what
عَمِلُوٓا۟ ۚʿamilūthey did
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
عَلِيمٌۢʿalīmun(is) the All-Knower
بِذَاتِbidhātiof what
ٱلصُّدُورِl-ṣudūri(is in) the breasts

Translation

And whoever disbelieves let not grieve you his disbelief To Us (is) their return then We will inform them of what they did Indeed Allah (is) the All-Knower of what (is in) the breasts

Verse 24

نُمَتِّعُهُمْnumattiʿuhumWe grant them enjoyment
قَلِيلًۭاqalīlan(for) a little
ثُمَّthummathen
نَضْطَرُّهُمْnaḍṭarruhumWe will force them
إِلَىٰilāto
عَذَابٍʿadhābina punishment
غَلِيظٍۢghalīẓinsevere

Translation

We grant them enjoyment (for) a little then We will force them to a punishment severe

Verse 25

وَلَئِنwala-inAnd if
سَأَلْتَهُمsa-altahumyou ask them
مَّنْmanWho
خَلَقَkhalaqacreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earth
لَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunnaThey will surely say
ٱللَّهُ ۚl-lahuAllah
قُلِquliSay
ٱلْحَمْدُl-ḥamduAll praises
لِلَّهِ ۚlillahi(are) for Allah
بَلْbalBut
أَكْثَرُهُمْaktharuhummost of them
لَاlā(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow

Translation

And if you ask them Who created the heavens and the earth They will surely say Allah Say All praises (are) for Allah But most of them (do) not know

Verse 26

لِلَّهِlillahiTo Allah (belongs)
مَاmāwhatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚwal-arḍiand the earth
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلْغَنِىُّl-ghaniyu(is) Free of need
ٱلْحَمِيدُl-ḥamīduthe Praiseworthy

Translation

To Allah (belongs) whatever (is) in the heavens and the earth Indeed Allah He (is) Free of need the Praiseworthy

Verse 27

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
أَنَّمَاannamāwhatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
مِنminof
شَجَرَةٍshajaratin(the) trees
أَقْلَـٰمٌۭaqlāmun(were) pens
وَٱلْبَحْرُwal-baḥruand the sea
يَمُدُّهُۥyamudduhu(to) add to it
مِنۢminafter it
بَعْدِهِۦbaʿdihiafter it
سَبْعَةُsabʿatuseven
أَبْحُرٍۢabḥurinseas
مَّاmānot
نَفِدَتْnafidatwould be exhausted
كَلِمَـٰتُkalimātu(the) Words
ٱللَّهِ ۗl-lahi(of) Allah
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
عَزِيزٌʿazīzun(is) All-Mighty
حَكِيمٌۭḥakīmunAll-Wise

Translation

And if whatever (is) in the earth of (the) trees (were) pens and the sea (to) add to it after it after it seven seas not would be exhausted (the) Words (of) Allah Indeed Allah (is) All-Mighty All-Wise

Verse 28

مَّاmāNot
خَلْقُكُمْkhalqukum(is) your creation
وَلَاwalāand not
بَعْثُكُمْbaʿthukumyour resurrection
إِلَّاillābut
كَنَفْسٍۢkanafsinas a soul
وَٰحِدَةٍ ۗwāḥidatinsingle
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
سَمِيعٌۢsamīʿun(is) All-Hearer
بَصِيرٌbaṣīrunAll-Seer

Translation

Not (is) your creation and not your resurrection but as a soul single Indeed Allah (is) All-Hearer All-Seer

Verse 29

أَلَمْalamDo not
تَرَtarayou see
أَنَّannathat
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
يُولِجُyūlijucauses to enter
ٱلَّيْلَal-laylathe night
فِىfīinto
ٱلنَّهَارِl-nahārithe day
وَيُولِجُwayūlijuand causes to enter
ٱلنَّهَارَl-nahārathe day
فِىfīinto
ٱلَّيْلِal-laylithe night
وَسَخَّرَwasakharaand has subjected
ٱلشَّمْسَl-shamsathe sun
وَٱلْقَمَرَwal-qamaraand the moon
كُلٌّۭkulluneach
يَجْرِىٓyajrīmoving
إِلَىٰٓilāfor
أَجَلٍۢajalina term
مُّسَمًّۭىmusammanappointed
وَأَنَّwa-annaand that
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
بِمَاbimāof what
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
خَبِيرٌۭkhabīrun(is) All-Aware

Translation

Do not you see that Allah causes to enter the night into the day and causes to enter the day into the night and has subjected the sun and the moon each moving for a term appointed and that Allah of what you do (is) All-Aware

Verse 30

ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
بِأَنَّbi-anna(is) because
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the Truth
وَأَنَّwa-annaand that
مَاmāwhat
يَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey call
مِنminbesides Him
دُونِهِdūnihibesides Him
ٱلْبَـٰطِلُl-bāṭilu(is) [the] falsehood
وَأَنَّwa-annaand that
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلْعَلِىُّl-ʿaliyu(is) the Most High
ٱلْكَبِيرُl-kabīruthe Most Great

Translation

That (is) because Allah He (is) the Truth and that what they call besides Him besides Him (is) [the] falsehood and that Allah He (is) the Most High the Most Great

Verse 31

أَلَمْalamDo not
تَرَtarayou see
أَنَّannathat
ٱلْفُلْكَl-ful'kathe ships
تَجْرِىtajrīsail
فِىfīthrough
ٱلْبَحْرِl-baḥrithe sea
بِنِعْمَتِbiniʿ'matiby (the) Grace
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
لِيُرِيَكُمliyuriyakumthat He may show you
مِّنْminof
ءَايَـٰتِهِۦٓ ۚāyātihiHis Signs
إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢlaāyātinsurely (are) Signs
لِّكُلِّlikullifor everyone
صَبَّارٍۢṣabbārin(who is) patient
شَكُورٍۢshakūringrateful

Translation

Do not you see that the ships sail through the sea by (the) Grace (of) Allah that He may show you of His Signs Indeed in that surely (are) Signs for everyone (who is) patient grateful

Verse 32

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
غَشِيَهُمghashiyahumcovers them
مَّوْجٌۭmawjuna wave
كَٱلظُّلَلِkal-ẓulalilike canopies
دَعَوُا۟daʿawūthey call
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
مُخْلِصِينَmukh'liṣīna(being) sincere
لَهُlahuto Him
ٱلدِّينَl-dīna(in) religion
فَلَمَّاfalammāBut when
نَجَّىٰهُمْnajjāhumHe delivers them
إِلَىilāto
ٱلْبَرِّl-barithe land
فَمِنْهُمfamin'humthen among them
مُّقْتَصِدٌۭ ۚmuq'taṣidun(some are) moderate
وَمَاwamāAnd not
يَجْحَدُyajḥadudeny
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiāyātināOur Signs
إِلَّاillāexcept
كُلُّkulluevery
خَتَّارٍۢkhattārintraitor
كَفُورٍۢkafūrinungrateful

Translation

And when covers them a wave like canopies they call Allah (being) sincere to Him (in) religion But when He delivers them to the land then among them (some are) moderate And not deny Our Signs except every traitor ungrateful

Verse 33

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsumankind
ٱتَّقُوا۟ittaqūFear
رَبَّكُمْrabbakumyour Lord
وَٱخْشَوْا۟wa-ikh'shawand fear
يَوْمًۭاyawmana Day
لَّاlānot
يَجْزِىyajzīcan avail
وَالِدٌwāliduna father
عَنʿan[for]
وَلَدِهِۦwaladihihis son
وَلَاwalāand not
مَوْلُودٌmawlūduna son
هُوَhuwahe
جَازٍjāzin(can) avail
عَنʿan[for]
وَالِدِهِۦwālidihihis father
شَيْـًٔا ۚshayananything
إِنَّinnaIndeed
وَعْدَwaʿda(the) Promise
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
حَقٌّۭ ۖḥaqqun(is) True
فَلَاfalāso let not deceive you
تَغُرَّنَّكُمُtaghurrannakumuso let not deceive you
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُl-ḥayatuthe life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
وَلَاwalāand let not deceive you
يَغُرَّنَّكُمyaghurrannakumand let not deceive you
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiabout Allah
ٱلْغَرُورُl-gharūruthe deceiver

Translation

O mankind Fear your Lord and fear a Day not can avail a father [for] his son and not a son he (can) avail [for] his father anything Indeed (the) Promise (of) Allah (is) True so let not deceive you so let not deceive you the life (of) the world and let not deceive you and let not deceive you about Allah the deceiver

Verse 34

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
عِندَهُۥʿindahuwith Him
عِلْمُʿil'mu(is the) knowledge
ٱلسَّاعَةِl-sāʿati(of) the Hour
وَيُنَزِّلُwayunazziluand He sends down
ٱلْغَيْثَl-ghaythathe rain
وَيَعْلَمُwayaʿlamuand knows
مَاmāwhat
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلْأَرْحَامِ ۖl-arḥāmithe wombs
وَمَاwamāAnd not
تَدْرِىtadrīknows
نَفْسٌۭnafsunany soul
مَّاذَاmādhāwhat
تَكْسِبُtaksibuit will earn
غَدًۭا ۖghadantomorrow
وَمَاwamāand not
تَدْرِىtadrīknows
نَفْسٌۢnafsunany soul
بِأَىِّbi-ayyiin what
أَرْضٍۢarḍinland
تَمُوتُ ۚtamūtuit will die
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
عَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knower
خَبِيرٌۢkhabīrunAll-Aware

Translation

Indeed Allah with Him (is the) knowledge (of) the Hour and He sends down the rain and knows what (is) in the wombs And not knows any soul what it will earn tomorrow and not knows any soul in what land it will die Indeed Allah (is) All-Knower All-Aware
