Chapter 35Meccan45 Verses

Verse 1

ٱلْحَمْدُal-ḥamduAll praises
لِلَّهِlillahi(be) to Allah
فَاطِرِfāṭiriOriginator
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
جَاعِلِjāʿili(Who) makes
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِl-malāikatithe Angels
رُسُلًاrusulanmessengers
أُو۟لِىٓulīhaving wings
أَجْنِحَةٍۢajniḥatinhaving wings
مَّثْنَىٰmathnātwo
وَثُلَـٰثَwathulāthaor three
وَرُبَـٰعَ ۚwarubāʿaor four
يَزِيدُyazīduHe increases
فِىfīin
ٱلْخَلْقِl-khalqithe creation
مَاmāwhat
يَشَآءُ ۚyashāuHe wills
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
عَلَىٰʿalā(is) on
كُلِّkullievery
شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
قَدِيرٌۭqadīrunAll-Powerful

Translation

All praises (be) to Allah Originator (of) the heavens and the earth (Who) makes the Angels messengers having wings having wings two or three or four He increases in the creation what He wills Indeed Allah (is) on every thing All-Powerful

Verse 2

مَّاmāWhat
يَفْتَحِyaftaḥiAllah grants
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah grants
لِلنَّاسِlilnnāsito mankind
مِنminof
رَّحْمَةٍۢraḥmatinMercy
فَلَاfalāthen none
مُمْسِكَmum'sika(can) withhold
لَهَا ۖlahāit
وَمَاwamāAnd what
يُمْسِكْyum'sikHe withholds
فَلَاfalāthen none
مُرْسِلَmur'sila(can) release
لَهُۥlahuit
مِنۢminthereafter
بَعْدِهِۦ ۚbaʿdihithereafter
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise

Translation

What Allah grants Allah grants to mankind of Mercy then none (can) withhold it And what He withholds then none (can) release it thereafter thereafter And He (is) the All-Mighty the All-Wise

Verse 3

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsumankind
ٱذْكُرُوا۟udh'kurūRemember
نِعْمَتَniʿ'mata(the) Favor
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
عَلَيْكُمْ ۚʿalaykumupon you
هَلْhalIs
مِنْmin(there) any
خَـٰلِقٍkhāliqincreator
غَيْرُghayruother (than) Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahiother (than) Allah
يَرْزُقُكُمyarzuqukumwho provides for you
مِّنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚwal-arḍiand the earth
لَآlā(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّاillābut
هُوَ ۖhuwaHe
فَأَنَّىٰfa-annāThen, how
تُؤْفَكُونَtu'fakūna(are) you deluded

Translation

O mankind Remember (the) Favor (of) Allah upon you Is (there) any creator other (than) Allah other (than) Allah who provides for you from the sky and the earth (There is) no god but He Then, how (are) you deluded

Verse 4

وَإِنwa-inAnd if
يُكَذِّبُوكَyukadhibūkathey deny you
فَقَدْfaqadthen certainly
كُذِّبَتْkudhibatwere denied
رُسُلٌۭrusulunMessengers
مِّنminbefore you
قَبْلِكَ ۚqablikabefore you
وَإِلَىwa-ilāAnd to
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
تُرْجَعُtur'jaʿureturn
ٱلْأُمُورُl-umūruthe matters

Translation

And if they deny you then certainly were denied Messengers before you before you And to Allah return the matters

Verse 5

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsumankind
إِنَّinnaIndeed
وَعْدَwaʿda(the) promise
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
حَقٌّۭ ۖḥaqqun(is) true
فَلَاfalāSo (let) not
تَغُرَّنَّكُمُtaghurrannakumudeceive you
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُl-ḥayatuthe life
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖl-dun'yā(of) the world
وَلَاwalāand (let) not
يَغُرَّنَّكُمyaghurrannakumdeceive you
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiabout Allah
ٱلْغَرُورُl-gharūruthe Deceiver

Translation

O mankind Indeed (the) promise (of) Allah (is) true So (let) not deceive you the life (of) the world and (let) not deceive you about Allah the Deceiver

Verse 6

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَl-shayṭānathe Shaitaan
لَكُمْlakum(is) to you
عَدُوٌّۭʿaduwwunan enemy
فَٱتَّخِذُوهُfa-ittakhidhūhuso take him
عَدُوًّا ۚʿaduwwan(as) an enemy
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
يَدْعُوا۟yadʿūhe invites
حِزْبَهُۥḥiz'bahuhis party
لِيَكُونُوا۟liyakūnūthat they may be
مِنْminamong
أَصْحَـٰبِaṣḥābi(the) companions
ٱلسَّعِيرِl-saʿīri(of) the Blaze

Translation

Indeed the Shaitaan (is) to you an enemy so take him (as) an enemy Only he invites his party that they may be among (the) companions (of) the Blaze

Verse 7

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieve
لَهُمْlahumfor them
عَذَابٌۭʿadhābun(will be) a punishment
شَدِيدٌۭ ۖshadīdunsevere
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūwho believe
وَعَمِلُوا۟waʿamilūand do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deeds
لَهُمlahumfor them
مَّغْفِرَةٌۭmaghfiratun(will be) forgiveness
وَأَجْرٌۭwa-ajrunand a reward
كَبِيرٌkabīrungreat

Translation

Those who disbelieve for them (will be) a punishment severe and those who believe and do righteous deeds for them (will be) forgiveness and a reward great

Verse 8

أَفَمَنafamanThen is (he) who
زُيِّنَzuyyinais made fair-seeming
لَهُۥlahuto him
سُوٓءُsūu(the) evil
عَمَلِهِۦʿamalihi(of) his deed
فَرَءَاهُfaraāhuso that he sees it
حَسَنًۭا ۖḥasanan(as) good
فَإِنَّfa-innaFor indeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
يُضِلُّyuḍillulets go astray
مَنmanwhom
يَشَآءُyashāuHe wills
وَيَهْدِىwayahdīand guides
مَنmanwhom
يَشَآءُ ۖyashāuHe wills
فَلَاfalāSo (let) not
تَذْهَبْtadhhabgo out
نَفْسُكَnafsukayour soul
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimfor them
حَسَرَٰتٍ ۚḥasarātin(in) regrets
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
عَلِيمٌۢʿalīmun(is) All-Knower
بِمَاbimāof what
يَصْنَعُونَyaṣnaʿūnathey do

Translation

Then is (he) who is made fair-seeming to him (the) evil (of) his deed so that he sees it (as) good For indeed Allah lets go astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills So (let) not go out your soul for them (in) regrets Indeed Allah (is) All-Knower of what they do

Verse 9

وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhī(is) the One Who
أَرْسَلَarsalasends
ٱلرِّيَـٰحَl-riyāḥathe winds
فَتُثِيرُfatuthīruso that they raise
سَحَابًۭاsaḥāban(the) clouds
فَسُقْنَـٰهُfasuq'nāhuand We drive them
إِلَىٰilāto
بَلَدٍۢbaladina land
مَّيِّتٍۢmayyitindead
فَأَحْيَيْنَاfa-aḥyaynāand We revive
بِهِbihitherewith
ٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earth
بَعْدَbaʿdaafter
مَوْتِهَا ۚmawtihāits death
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
ٱلنُّشُورُl-nushūru(will be) the Resurrection

Translation

And Allah (is) the One Who sends the winds so that they raise (the) clouds and We drive them to a land dead and We revive therewith the earth after its death Thus (will be) the Resurrection

Verse 10

مَنmanWhoever
كَانَkāna[is] desires
يُرِيدُyurīdu[is] desires
ٱلْعِزَّةَl-ʿizatathe honor
فَلِلَّهِfalillahithen for Allah
ٱلْعِزَّةُl-ʿizatu(is) the Honor
جَمِيعًا ۚjamīʿanall
إِلَيْهِilayhiTo Him
يَصْعَدُyaṣʿaduascends
ٱلْكَلِمُl-kalimuthe words
ٱلطَّيِّبُl-ṭayibugood
وَٱلْعَمَلُwal-ʿamaluand the deed
ٱلصَّـٰلِحُl-ṣāliḥurighteous
يَرْفَعُهُۥ ۚyarfaʿuhuraises it
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaBut those who
يَمْكُرُونَyamkurūnaplot
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِl-sayiātithe evil
لَهُمْlahumfor them
عَذَابٌۭʿadhābun(is) a punishment
شَدِيدٌۭ ۖshadīdunsevere
وَمَكْرُwamakruand (the) plotting
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāika(of) those
هُوَhuwait
يَبُورُyabūru(will) perish

Translation

Whoever [is] desires [is] desires the honor then for Allah (is) the Honor all To Him ascends the words good and the deed righteous raises it But those who plot the evil for them (is) a punishment severe and (the) plotting (of) those it (will) perish

Verse 11

وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
خَلَقَكُمkhalaqakumcreated you
مِّنminfrom
تُرَابٍۢturābindust
ثُمَّthummathen
مِنminfrom
نُّطْفَةٍۢnuṭ'fatina semen-drop
ثُمَّthummathen
جَعَلَكُمْjaʿalakumHe made you
أَزْوَٰجًۭا ۚazwājanpairs
وَمَاwamāAnd not
تَحْمِلُtaḥmiluconceives
مِنْminany
أُنثَىٰunthāfemale
وَلَاwalāand not
تَضَعُtaḍaʿugives birth
إِلَّاillāexcept
بِعِلْمِهِۦ ۚbiʿil'mihiwith His knowledge
وَمَاwamāAnd not
يُعَمَّرُyuʿammaruis granted life
مِنminany
مُّعَمَّرٍۢmuʿammarinaged person
وَلَاwalāand not
يُنقَصُyunqaṣuis lessened
مِنْminfrom
عُمُرِهِۦٓʿumurihihis life
إِلَّاillābut
فِىfī(is) in
كِتَـٰبٍ ۚkitābina Register
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
عَلَىʿalāfor
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
يَسِيرٌۭyasīrun(is) easy

Translation

And Allah created you from dust then from a semen-drop then He made you pairs And not conceives any female and not gives birth except with His knowledge And not is granted life any aged person and not is lessened from his life but (is) in a Register Indeed that for Allah (is) easy

Verse 12

وَمَاwamāAnd not
يَسْتَوِىyastawīare alike
ٱلْبَحْرَانِl-baḥrānithe two seas
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
عَذْبٌۭʿadhbun(is) fresh
فُرَاتٌۭfurātunsweet
سَآئِغٌۭsāighunpleasant
شَرَابُهُۥsharābuhuits drink
وَهَـٰذَاwahādhāand this
مِلْحٌmil'ḥunsalty
أُجَاجٌۭ ۖujājun(and) bitter
وَمِنwaminAnd from
كُلٍّۢkullineach
تَأْكُلُونَtakulūnayou eat
لَحْمًۭاlaḥmanmeat
طَرِيًّۭاṭariyyanfresh
وَتَسْتَخْرِجُونَwatastakhrijūnaand you extract
حِلْيَةًۭḥil'yatanornaments
تَلْبَسُونَهَا ۖtalbasūnahāyou wear them
وَتَرَىwatarāand you see
ٱلْفُلْكَl-ful'kathe ships
فِيهِfīhiin it
مَوَاخِرَmawākhiracleaving
لِتَبْتَغُوا۟litabtaghūso that you may seek
مِنminof
فَضْلِهِۦfaḍlihiHis Bounty
وَلَعَلَّكُمْwalaʿallakumand that you may
تَشْكُرُونَtashkurūnabe grateful

Translation

And not are alike the two seas This (is) fresh sweet pleasant its drink and this salty (and) bitter And from each you eat meat fresh and you extract ornaments you wear them and you see the ships in it cleaving so that you may seek of His Bounty and that you may be grateful

Verse 13

يُولِجُyūlijuHe causes to enter
ٱلَّيْلَal-laylathe night
فِىfīin (to)
ٱلنَّهَارِl-nahārithe day
وَيُولِجُwayūlijuand He causes to enter
ٱلنَّهَارَl-nahārathe day
فِىfīin (to)
ٱلَّيْلِal-laylithe night
وَسَخَّرَwasakharaand He has subjected
ٱلشَّمْسَl-shamsathe sun
وَٱلْقَمَرَwal-qamaraand the moon
كُلٌّۭkulluneach
يَجْرِىyajrīrunning
لِأَجَلٍۢli-ajalinfor a term
مُّسَمًّۭى ۚmusammanappointed
ذَٰلِكُمُdhālikumuThat (is)
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
رَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lord
لَهُlahufor Him
ٱلْمُلْكُ ۚl-mul'ku(is) the Dominion
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whom
تَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou invoke
مِنminbesides Him
دُونِهِۦdūnihibesides Him
مَاmānot
يَمْلِكُونَyamlikūnathey possess
مِنmineven
قِطْمِيرٍqiṭ'mīrin(as much as) the membrane of a date-seed

Translation

He causes to enter the night in (to) the day and He causes to enter the day in (to) the night and He has subjected the sun and the moon each running for a term appointed That (is) Allah your Lord for Him (is) the Dominion And those whom you invoke besides Him besides Him not they possess even (as much as) the membrane of a date-seed

Verse 14

إِنinIf
تَدْعُوهُمْtadʿūhumyou invoke them
لَاlānot
يَسْمَعُوا۟yasmaʿūthey hear
دُعَآءَكُمْduʿāakumyour call
وَلَوْwalawand if
سَمِعُوا۟samiʿūthey heard
مَاmānot
ٱسْتَجَابُوا۟is'tajābūthey (would) respond
لَكُمْ ۖlakumto you
وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
يَكْفُرُونَyakfurūnathey will deny
بِشِرْكِكُمْ ۚbishir'kikumyour association
وَلَاwalāAnd none
يُنَبِّئُكَyunabbi-ukacan inform you
مِثْلُmith'lulike
خَبِيرٍۢkhabīrin(the) All-Aware

Translation

If you invoke them not they hear your call and if they heard not they (would) respond to you And (on the) Day (of) the Resurrection they will deny your association And none can inform you like (the) All-Aware

Verse 15

۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsumankind
أَنتُمُantumuYou
ٱلْفُقَرَآءُl-fuqarāu(are) those in need
إِلَىilāof
ٱللَّهِ ۖl-lahiAllah
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuwhile Allah
هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلْغَنِىُّl-ghaniyu(is) Free of need
ٱلْحَمِيدُl-ḥamīduthe Praiseworthy

Translation

O mankind You (are) those in need of Allah while Allah He (is) Free of need the Praiseworthy

Verse 16

إِنinIf
يَشَأْyashaHe wills
يُذْهِبْكُمْyudh'hib'kumHe (can) do away with you
وَيَأْتِwayatiand bring
بِخَلْقٍۢbikhalqinin a creation
جَدِيدٍۢjadīdinnew

Translation

If He wills He (can) do away with you and bring in a creation new

Verse 17

وَمَاwamāAnd not
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
عَلَىʿalā(is) on
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
بِعَزِيزٍۢbiʿazīzindifficult

Translation

And not that (is) on Allah difficult

Verse 18

وَلَاwalāAnd not
تَزِرُtaziruwill bear
وَازِرَةٌۭwāziratunbearer of burdens
وِزْرَwiz'raburden
أُخْرَىٰ ۚukh'rā(of) another
وَإِنwa-inAnd if
تَدْعُtadʿucalls
مُثْقَلَةٌmuth'qalatuna heavily laden
إِلَىٰilāto
حِمْلِهَاḥim'lihā(carry) its load
لَاlānot
يُحْمَلْyuḥ'malwill be carried
مِنْهُmin'huof it
شَىْءٌۭshayonanything
وَلَوْwalaweven if
كَانَkānahe be
ذَاdhānear of kin
قُرْبَىٰٓ ۗqur'bānear of kin
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
تُنذِرُtundhiruyou can warn
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَخْشَوْنَyakhshawnafear
رَبَّهُمrabbahumtheir Lord
بِٱلْغَيْبِbil-ghaybiunseen
وَأَقَامُوا۟wa-aqāmūand establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ ۚl-ṣalatathe prayer
وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
تَزَكَّىٰtazakkāpurifies himself
فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen only
يَتَزَكَّىٰyatazakkāhe purifies
لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۚlinafsihifor his own self
وَإِلَىwa-ilāAnd to
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
ٱلْمَصِيرُl-maṣīru(is) the destination

Translation

And not will bear bearer of burdens burden (of) another And if calls a heavily laden to (carry) its load not will be carried of it anything even if he be near of kin near of kin Only you can warn those who fear their Lord unseen and establish the prayer And whoever purifies himself then only he purifies for his own self And to Allah (is) the destination

Verse 19

وَمَاwamāAnd not
يَسْتَوِىyastawīequal
ٱلْأَعْمَىٰl-aʿmā(are) the blind
وَٱلْبَصِيرُwal-baṣīruand the seeing

Translation

And not equal (are) the blind and the seeing

Verse 20

وَلَاwalāAnd not
ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتُl-ẓulumātuthe darkness[es]
وَلَاwalāand not
ٱلنُّورُl-nūru[the] light

Translation

And not the darkness[es] and not [the] light

Verse 21

وَلَاwalāAnd not
ٱلظِّلُّl-ẓiluthe shade
وَلَاwalāand not
ٱلْحَرُورُl-ḥarūruthe heat

Translation

And not the shade and not the heat

Verse 22

وَمَاwamāAnd not
يَسْتَوِىyastawīequal
ٱلْأَحْيَآءُl-aḥyāu(are) the living
وَلَاwalāand not
ٱلْأَمْوَٰتُ ۚl-amwātuthe dead
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
يُسْمِعُyus'miʿucauses to hear
مَنmanwhom
يَشَآءُ ۖyashāuHe wills
وَمَآwamāand not
أَنتَantayou
بِمُسْمِعٍۢbimus'miʿincan make hear
مَّنman(those) who
فِىfī(are) in
ٱلْقُبُورِl-qubūrithe graves

Translation

And not equal (are) the living and not the dead Indeed Allah causes to hear whom He wills and not you can make hear (those) who (are) in the graves

Verse 23

إِنْinNot
أَنتَantayou (are)
إِلَّاillābut
نَذِيرٌnadhīruna warner

Translation

Not you (are) but a warner

Verse 24

إِنَّآinnāIndeed, We
أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَarsalnāka[We] have sent you
بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiwith the truth
بَشِيرًۭاbashīran(as) a bearer of glad tidings
وَنَذِيرًۭا ۚwanadhīranand (as) a warner
وَإِنwa-inAnd not
مِّنْmin(was) any
أُمَّةٍummatinnation
إِلَّاillābut
خَلَاkhalāhad passed
فِيهَاfīhāwithin it
نَذِيرٌۭnadhīruna warner

Translation

Indeed, We [We] have sent you with the truth (as) a bearer of glad tidings and (as) a warner And not (was) any nation but had passed within it a warner

Verse 25

وَإِنwa-inAnd if
يُكَذِّبُوكَyukadhibūkathey deny you
فَقَدْfaqadthen certainly
كَذَّبَkadhabadenied
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
مِنmin(were) before them
قَبْلِهِمْqablihim(were) before them
جَآءَتْهُمْjāathumCame to them
رُسُلُهُمrusuluhumtheir Messengers
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayinātiwith clear signs
وَبِٱلزُّبُرِwabil-zuburiand with Scriptures
وَبِٱلْكِتَـٰبِwabil-kitābiand with the Book
ٱلْمُنِيرِl-munīri[the] enlightening

Translation

And if they deny you then certainly denied those who (were) before them (were) before them Came to them their Messengers with clear signs and with Scriptures and with the Book [the] enlightening

Verse 26

ثُمَّthummaThen
أَخَذْتُakhadhtuI seized
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوا۟ ۖkafarūdisbelieved
فَكَيْفَfakayfaand how
كَانَkānawas
نَكِيرِnakīriMy rejection

Translation

Then I seized those who disbelieved and how was My rejection

Verse 27

أَلَمْalamDo not
تَرَtarayou see
أَنَّannathat
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
أَنزَلَanzalasends down
مِنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
مَآءًۭmāanwater
فَأَخْرَجْنَاfa-akhrajnāthen We bring forth
بِهِۦbihitherewith
ثَمَرَٰتٍۢthamarātinfruits
مُّخْتَلِفًاmukh'talifan(of) various
أَلْوَٰنُهَا ۚalwānuhā[their] colors
وَمِنَwaminaAnd in
ٱلْجِبَالِl-jibālithe mountains
جُدَدٌۢjudadun(are) tracts
بِيضٌۭbīḍunwhite
وَحُمْرٌۭwaḥum'runand red
مُّخْتَلِفٌmukh'talifun(of) various
أَلْوَٰنُهَاalwānuhā[their] colors
وَغَرَابِيبُwagharābībuand intensely black
سُودٌۭsūdunand intensely black

Translation

Do not you see that Allah sends down from the sky water then We bring forth therewith fruits (of) various [their] colors And in the mountains (are) tracts white and red (of) various [their] colors and intensely black and intensely black

Verse 28

وَمِنَwaminaAnd among
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsimen
وَٱلدَّوَآبِّwal-dawābiand moving creatures
وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِwal-anʿāmiand the cattle
مُخْتَلِفٌmukh'talifun(are) various
أَلْوَٰنُهُۥalwānuhu[their] colors
كَذَٰلِكَ ۗkadhālikalikewise
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
يَخْشَىyakhshāfear
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
مِنْminamong
عِبَادِهِʿibādihiHis slaves
ٱلْعُلَمَـٰٓؤُا۟ ۗl-ʿulamāuthose who have knowledge
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
عَزِيزٌʿazīzun(is) All-Mighty
غَفُورٌghafūrunOft-Forgiving

Translation

And among men and moving creatures and the cattle (are) various [their] colors likewise Only fear Allah among His slaves those who have knowledge Indeed Allah (is) All-Mighty Oft-Forgiving

Verse 29

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَتْلُونَyatlūnarecite
كِتَـٰبَkitāba(the) Book
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
وَأَقَامُوا۟wa-aqāmūand establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe prayer
وَأَنفَقُوا۟wa-anfaqūand spend
مِمَّاmimmāout of what
رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْrazaqnāhumWe have provided them
سِرًّۭاsirransecretly
وَعَلَانِيَةًۭwaʿalāniyatanand openly
يَرْجُونَyarjūnahope
تِجَـٰرَةًۭtijāratan(for) a commerce
لَّنlannever
تَبُورَtabūrait will perish

Translation

Indeed those who recite (the) Book (of) Allah and establish the prayer and spend out of what We have provided them secretly and openly hope (for) a commerce never it will perish

Verse 30

لِيُوَفِّيَهُمْliyuwaffiyahumThat He may give them in full
أُجُورَهُمْujūrahumtheir rewards
وَيَزِيدَهُمwayazīdahumand increase for them
مِّنminof
فَضْلِهِۦٓ ۚfaḍlihiHis Bounty
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
غَفُورٌۭghafūrun(is) Oft-Forgiving
شَكُورٌۭshakūrunMost Appreciative

Translation

That He may give them in full their rewards and increase for them of His Bounty Indeed, He (is) Oft-Forgiving Most Appreciative

Verse 31

وَٱلَّذِىٓwa-alladhīAnd (that) which
أَوْحَيْنَآawḥaynāWe have revealed
إِلَيْكَilaykato you
مِنَminaof
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābithe Book
هُوَhuwait
ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the truth
مُصَدِّقًۭاmuṣaddiqanconfirming
لِّمَاlimāwhat (was)
بَيْنَbaynabefore it
يَدَيْهِ ۗyadayhibefore it
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
بِعِبَادِهِۦbiʿibādihiof His slaves
لَخَبِيرٌۢlakhabīrunsurely, (is) All-Aware
بَصِيرٌۭbaṣīrunAll-Seer

Translation

And (that) which We have revealed to you of the Book it (is) the truth confirming what (was) before it before it Indeed Allah of His slaves surely, (is) All-Aware All-Seer

Verse 32

ثُمَّthummaThen
أَوْرَثْنَاawrathnāWe caused to inherit
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whom
ٱصْطَفَيْنَاiṣ'ṭafaynāWe have chosen
مِنْminof
عِبَادِنَا ۖʿibādināOur slaves
فَمِنْهُمْfamin'humand among them
ظَالِمٌۭẓālimun(is he) who wrongs
لِّنَفْسِهِۦlinafsihihimself
وَمِنْهُمwamin'humand among them
مُّقْتَصِدٌۭmuq'taṣidun(is he who is) moderate
وَمِنْهُمْwamin'humand among them
سَابِقٌۢsābiqun(is he who is) foremost
بِٱلْخَيْرَٰتِbil-khayrātiin good deeds
بِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby permission
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi(of) Allah
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
هُوَhuwais
ٱلْفَضْلُl-faḍluthe Bounty
ٱلْكَبِيرُl-kabīruthe great

Translation

Then We caused to inherit the Book those whom We have chosen of Our slaves and among them (is he) who wrongs himself and among them (is he who is) moderate and among them (is he who is) foremost in good deeds by permission (of) Allah That is the Bounty the great

Verse 33

جَنَّـٰتُjannātuGardens
عَدْنٍۢʿadnin(of) Eternity
يَدْخُلُونَهَاyadkhulūnahāthey will enter them
يُحَلَّوْنَyuḥallawnaThey will be adorned
فِيهَاfīhātherein
مِنْminwith
أَسَاوِرَasāwirabracelets
مِنminof
ذَهَبٍۢdhahabingold
وَلُؤْلُؤًۭا ۖwalu'lu-anand pearls
وَلِبَاسُهُمْwalibāsuhumand their garments
فِيهَاfīhātherein
حَرِيرٌۭḥarīrun(will be of) silk

Translation

Gardens (of) Eternity they will enter them They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearls and their garments therein (will be of) silk

Verse 34

وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they (will) say
ٱلْحَمْدُl-ḥamduAll praises
لِلَّهِlillahi(be) to Allah
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhīthe One Who
أَذْهَبَadhhaba(has) removed
عَنَّاʿannāfrom us
ٱلْحَزَنَ ۖl-ḥazanathe sorrow
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبَّنَاrabbanāour Lord
لَغَفُورٌۭlaghafūrun(is) surely Oft-Forgiving
شَكُورٌshakūrunMost Appreciative

Translation

And they (will) say All praises (be) to Allah the One Who (has) removed from us the sorrow Indeed our Lord (is) surely Oft-Forgiving Most Appreciative

Verse 35

ٱلَّذِىٓalladhīThe One Who
أَحَلَّنَاaḥallanāhas settled us
دَارَdāra(in) a Home
ٱلْمُقَامَةِl-muqāmati(of) Eternity
مِنmin(out) of
فَضْلِهِۦfaḍlihiHis Bounty
لَاlāNot
يَمَسُّنَاyamassunātouches us
فِيهَاfīhātherein
نَصَبٌۭnaṣabunany fatigue
وَلَاwalāand not
يَمَسُّنَاyamassunātouches
فِيهَاfīhātherein
لُغُوبٌۭlughūbunweariness

Translation

The One Who has settled us (in) a Home (of) Eternity (out) of His Bounty Not touches us therein any fatigue and not touches therein weariness

Verse 36

وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those who
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieve
لَهُمْlahumfor them
نَارُnāru(will be the) Fire
جَهَنَّمَjahannama(of) Hell
لَاlāNot
يُقْضَىٰyuq'ḍāis decreed
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimfor them
فَيَمُوتُوا۟fayamūtūthat they die
وَلَاwalāand not
يُخَفَّفُyukhaffafuwill be lightened
عَنْهُمʿanhumfor them
مِّنْminof
عَذَابِهَا ۚʿadhābihāits torment
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
نَجْزِىnajzīWe recompense
كُلَّkullaevery
كَفُورٍۢkafūrinungrateful one

Translation

And those who disbelieve for them (will be the) Fire (of) Hell Not is decreed for them that they die and not will be lightened for them of its torment Thus We recompense every ungrateful one

Verse 37

وَهُمْwahumAnd they
يَصْطَرِخُونَyaṣṭarikhūnawill cry
فِيهَاfīhātherein
رَبَّنَآrabbanāOur Lord
أَخْرِجْنَاakhrij'nāBring us out
نَعْمَلْnaʿmalwe will do
صَـٰلِحًاṣāliḥanrighteous (deeds)
غَيْرَghayraother than
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(that) which
كُنَّاkunnāwe used
نَعْمَلُ ۚnaʿmalu(to) do
أَوَلَمْawalamDid not
نُعَمِّرْكُمnuʿammir'kumWe give you life long enough
مَّاmāthat
يَتَذَكَّرُyatadhakkaru(would) receive admonition
فِيهِfīhitherein
مَنmanwhoever
تَذَكَّرَtadhakkarareceives admonition
وَجَآءَكُمُwajāakumuAnd came to you
ٱلنَّذِيرُ ۖl-nadhīruthe warner
فَذُوقُوا۟fadhūqūSo taste
فَمَاfamāthen not
لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَlilẓẓālimīna(is) for the wrongdoers
مِنminany
نَّصِيرٍnaṣīrinhelper

Translation

And they will cry therein Our Lord Bring us out we will do righteous (deeds) other than (that) which we used (to) do Did not We give you life long enough that (would) receive admonition therein whoever receives admonition And came to you the warner So taste then not (is) for the wrongdoers any helper

Verse 38

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
عَـٰلِمُʿālimu(is the) Knower
غَيْبِghaybi(of the) unseen
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚwal-arḍiand the earth
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
عَلِيمٌۢʿalīmun(is the) All-Knower
بِذَاتِbidhātiof what (is) in the breasts
ٱلصُّدُورِl-ṣudūriof what (is) in the breasts

Translation

Indeed Allah (is the) Knower (of the) unseen (of) the heavens and the earth Indeed, He (is the) All-Knower of what (is) in the breasts of what (is) in the breasts

Verse 39

هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
جَعَلَكُمْjaʿalakummade you
خَلَـٰٓئِفَkhalāifasuccessors
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚl-arḍithe earth
فَمَنfamanAnd whoever
كَفَرَkafaradisbelieves
فَعَلَيْهِfaʿalayhithen upon him
كُفْرُهُۥ ۖkuf'ruhu(is) his disbelief
وَلَاwalāAnd not
يَزِيدُyazīduincrease
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
كُفْرُهُمْkuf'ruhumtheir disbelief
عِندَʿindanear
رَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lord
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَقْتًۭا ۖmaqtan(in) hatred
وَلَاwalāand not
يَزِيدُyazīduincrease
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
كُفْرُهُمْkuf'ruhumtheir disbelief
إِلَّاillāexcept
خَسَارًۭاkhasāran(in) loss

Translation

He (is) the One Who made you successors in the earth And whoever disbelieves then upon him (is) his disbelief And not increase the disbelievers their disbelief near their Lord except (in) hatred and not increase the disbelievers their disbelief except (in) loss

Verse 40

قُلْqulSay
أَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumHave you seen
شُرَكَآءَكُمُshurakāakumuyour partners
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whom
تَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou call
مِنminbesides
دُونِdūnibesides
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
أَرُونِىarūnīShow Me
مَاذَاmādhāwhat
خَلَقُوا۟khalaqūthey have created
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
أَمْamor
لَهُمْlahumfor them
شِرْكٌۭshir'kun(is) a share
فِىfīin
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
أَمْamOr
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْātaynāhumhave We given them
كِتَـٰبًۭاkitābana Book
فَهُمْfahumso they
عَلَىٰʿalā(are) on
بَيِّنَتٍۢbayyinatina clear proof
مِّنْهُ ۚmin'hutherefrom
بَلْbalNay
إِنinnot
يَعِدُyaʿidupromise
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
بَعْضُهُمbaʿḍuhumsome of them
بَعْضًاbaʿḍan(to) others
إِلَّاillāexcept
غُرُورًاghurūrandelusion

Translation

Say Have you seen your partners those whom you call besides besides Allah Show Me what they have created from the earth or for them (is) a share in the heavens Or have We given them a Book so they (are) on a clear proof therefrom Nay not promise the wrongdoers some of them (to) others except delusion

Verse 41

۞ إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
يُمْسِكُyum'sikuupholds
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earth
أَنanlest
تَزُولَا ۚtazūlāthey cease
وَلَئِنwala-inAnd if
زَالَتَآzālatāthey should cease
إِنْinnot
أَمْسَكَهُمَاamsakahumācan uphold them
مِنْminany
أَحَدٍۢaḥadinone
مِّنۢminafter Him
بَعْدِهِۦٓ ۚbaʿdihiafter Him
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
كَانَkānais
حَلِيمًاḥalīmanMost Forbearing
غَفُورًۭاghafūranOft-Forgiving

Translation

Indeed Allah upholds the heavens and the earth lest they cease And if they should cease not can uphold them any one after Him after Him Indeed, He is Most Forbearing Oft-Forgiving

Verse 42

وَأَقْسَمُوا۟wa-aqsamūAnd they swore
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiby Allah
جَهْدَjahda(the) strongest
أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْaymānihim(of) their oaths
لَئِنla-inthat if
جَآءَهُمْjāahumcame to them
نَذِيرٌۭnadhīruna warner
لَّيَكُونُنَّlayakūnunnasurely, they would be
أَهْدَىٰahdāmore guided
مِنْminthan
إِحْدَىiḥ'dāany
ٱلْأُمَمِ ۖl-umami(of) the nations
فَلَمَّاfalammāBut when
جَآءَهُمْjāahumcame to them
نَذِيرٌۭnadhīruna warner
مَّاmānot
زَادَهُمْzādahumit increased them
إِلَّاillābut
نُفُورًاnufūran(in) aversion

Translation

And they swore by Allah (the) strongest (of) their oaths that if came to them a warner surely, they would be more guided than any (of) the nations But when came to them a warner not it increased them but (in) aversion

Verse 43

ٱسْتِكْبَارًۭاis'tik'bāran(Due to) arrogance
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe land
وَمَكْرَwamakraand plotting
ٱلسَّيِّئِ ۚl-sayi-i(of) the evil
وَلَاwalābut not
يَحِيقُyaḥīquencompasses
ٱلْمَكْرُl-makruthe plot
ٱلسَّيِّئُl-sayi-u(of) the evil
إِلَّاillāexcept
بِأَهْلِهِۦ ۚbi-ahlihiits own people
فَهَلْfahalThen do
يَنظُرُونَyanẓurūnathey wait
إِلَّاillāexcept
سُنَّتَsunnata(the) way
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ۚl-awalīna(of) the former (people)
فَلَنfalanBut never
تَجِدَtajidayou will find
لِسُنَّتِlisunnatiin (the) way
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
تَبْدِيلًۭا ۖtabdīlanany change
وَلَنwalanand never
تَجِدَtajidayou will find
لِسُنَّتِlisunnatiin (the) way
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
تَحْوِيلًاtaḥwīlanany alteration

Translation

(Due to) arrogance in the land and plotting (of) the evil but not encompasses the plot (of) the evil except its own people Then do they wait except (the) way (of) the former (people) But never you will find in (the) way (of) Allah any change and never you will find in (the) way (of) Allah any alteration

Verse 44

أَوَلَمْawalamHave they not
يَسِيرُوا۟yasīrūtraveled
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe land
فَيَنظُرُوا۟fayanẓurūand seen
كَيْفَkayfahow
كَانَkānawas
عَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) end
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
مِنmin(were) before them
قَبْلِهِمْqablihim(were) before them
وَكَانُوٓا۟wakānūAnd they were
أَشَدَّashaddastronger
مِنْهُمْmin'humthan them
قُوَّةًۭ ۚquwwatan(in) power
وَمَاwamāBut not
كَانَkānais
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
لِيُعْجِزَهُۥliyuʿ'jizahuthat can escape (from) Him
مِنminany
شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
فِىfīin
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَلَاwalāand not
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚl-arḍithe earth
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
كَانَkānais
عَلِيمًۭاʿalīmanAll-Knower
قَدِيرًۭاqadīranAll-Powerful

Translation

Have they not traveled in the land and seen how was (the) end (of) those who (were) before them (were) before them And they were stronger than them (in) power But not is Allah that can escape (from) Him any thing in the heavens and not in the earth Indeed, He is All-Knower All-Powerful

Verse 45

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
يُؤَاخِذُyuākhidhuAllah (were to) punish
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah (were to) punish
ٱلنَّاسَl-nāsathe people
بِمَاbimāfor what
كَسَبُوا۟kasabūthey have earned
مَاmānot
تَرَكَtarakaHe would leave
عَلَىٰʿalāon
ظَهْرِهَاẓahrihāits back
مِنminany
دَآبَّةٍۢdābbatincreature
وَلَـٰكِنwalākinBut
يُؤَخِّرُهُمْyu-akhiruhumHe gives them respite
إِلَىٰٓilātill
أَجَلٍۢajalina term
مُّسَمًّۭى ۖmusammanappointed
فَإِذَاfa-idhāAnd when
جَآءَjāacomes
أَجَلُهُمْajaluhumtheir term
فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
كَانَkānais
بِعِبَادِهِۦbiʿibādihiof His slaves
بَصِيرًۢاbaṣīranAll-Seer

Translation

And if Allah (were to) punish Allah (were to) punish the people for what they have earned not He would leave on its back any creature But He gives them respite till a term appointed And when comes their term then indeed Allah is of His slaves All-Seer
