Verse 1

يسٓya-seenYa Seen

Translation

Ya Seen

Verse 2

وَٱلْقُرْءَانِwal-qur'āniBy the Quran
ٱلْحَكِيمِl-ḥakīmithe Wise

Translation

By the Quran the Wise

Verse 3

إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, you
لَمِنَlamina(are) among
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Translation

Indeed, you (are) among the Messengers

Verse 4

عَلَىٰʿalāOn
صِرَٰطٍۢṣirāṭina Path
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢmus'taqīminStraight

Translation

On a Path Straight

Verse 5

تَنزِيلَtanzīlaA revelation
ٱلْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzi(of) the All-Mighty
ٱلرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmithe Most Merciful

Translation

A revelation (of) the All-Mighty the Most Merciful

Verse 6

لِتُنذِرَlitundhiraThat you may warn
قَوْمًۭاqawmana people
مَّآmānot
أُنذِرَundhirawere warned
ءَابَآؤُهُمْābāuhumtheir forefathers
فَهُمْfahumso they
غَـٰفِلُونَghāfilūna(are) heedless

Translation

That you may warn a people not were warned their forefathers so they (are) heedless

Verse 7

لَقَدْlaqadCertainly
حَقَّḥaqqa(has) proved true
ٱلْقَوْلُl-qawluthe word
عَلَىٰٓʿalāupon
أَكْثَرِهِمْaktharihimmost of them
فَهُمْfahumso they
لَاlā(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve

Translation

Certainly (has) proved true the word upon most of them so they (do) not believe

Verse 8

إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
جَعَلْنَاjaʿalnā[We] have placed
فِىٓfīon
أَعْنَـٰقِهِمْaʿnāqihimtheir necks
أَغْلَـٰلًۭاaghlālaniron collars
فَهِىَfahiyaand they
إِلَىilā(are up) to
ٱلْأَذْقَانِl-adhqānithe chins
فَهُمfahumso they
مُّقْمَحُونَmuq'maḥūna(are with) heads raised up

Translation

Indeed, We [We] have placed on their necks iron collars and they (are up) to the chins so they (are with) heads raised up

Verse 9

وَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāAnd We have made
مِنۢminfrom
بَيْنِbaynibefore/between
أَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir hands/their front
سَدًّۭاsaddana barrier
وَمِنْwaminand from
خَلْفِهِمْkhalfihimbehind them
سَدًّۭاsaddana barrier
فَأَغْشَيْنَـٰهُمْfa-aghshaynāhumand We covered them
فَهُمْfahumso they
لَاlā(do) not
يُبْصِرُونَyub'ṣirūnasee

Translation

And We have made from before/between their hands/their front a barrier and from behind them a barrier and We covered them so they (do) not see

Verse 10

وَسَوَآءٌwasawāonAnd it (is) same
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto them
ءَأَنذَرْتَهُمْa-andhartahumwhether you warn them
أَمْamor
لَمْlam(do) not
تُنذِرْهُمْtundhir'humwarn them
لَاlānot
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey will believe

Translation

And it (is) same to them whether you warn them or (do) not warn them not they will believe

Verse 11

إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
تُنذِرُtundhiruyou (can) warn
مَنِmani(him) who
ٱتَّبَعَittabaʿafollows
ٱلذِّكْرَl-dhik'rathe Reminder
وَخَشِىَwakhashiyaand fears
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنَl-raḥmānathe Most Gracious
بِٱلْغَيْبِ ۖbil-ghaybiin the unseen
فَبَشِّرْهُfabashir'huSo give him glad tidings
بِمَغْفِرَةٍۢbimaghfiratinof forgiveness
وَأَجْرٍۢwa-ajrinand a reward
كَرِيمٍkarīminnoble

Translation

Only you (can) warn (him) who follows the Reminder and fears the Most Gracious in the unseen So give him glad tidings of forgiveness and a reward noble

Verse 12

إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
نَحْنُnaḥnu[We]
نُحْىِnuḥ'yī[We] give life
ٱلْمَوْتَىٰl-mawtā(to) the dead
وَنَكْتُبُwanaktubuand We record
مَاmāwhat
قَدَّمُوا۟qaddamūthey have sent before
وَءَاثَـٰرَهُمْ ۚwaāthārahumand their footprints
وَكُلَّwakullaand every
شَىْءٍshayinthing
أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُaḥṣaynāhuWe have enumerated it
فِىٓfīin
إِمَامٍۢimāmina Register
مُّبِينٍۢmubīninclear

Translation

Indeed, We [We] [We] give life (to) the dead and We record what they have sent before and their footprints and every thing We have enumerated it in a Register clear

Verse 13

وَٱضْرِبْwa-iḍ'ribAnd set forth
لَهُمlahumto them
مَّثَلًاmathalanan example
أَصْحَـٰبَaṣḥāba(of the) companions
ٱلْقَرْيَةِl-qaryati(of) the city
إِذْidhwhen
جَآءَهَاjāahācame to it
ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَl-mur'salūnathe Messengers

Translation

And set forth to them an example (of the) companions (of) the city when came to it the Messengers

Verse 14

إِذْidhWhen
أَرْسَلْنَآarsalnāWe sent
إِلَيْهِمُilayhimuto them
ٱثْنَيْنِith'naynitwo (Messengers)
فَكَذَّبُوهُمَاfakadhabūhumābut they denied both of them
فَعَزَّزْنَاfaʿazzaznāso We strengthened them
بِثَالِثٍۢbithālithinwith a third
فَقَالُوٓا۟faqālūand they said
إِنَّآinnāIndeed, We
إِلَيْكُمilaykumto you
مُّرْسَلُونَmur'salūna(are) Messengers

Translation

When We sent to them two (Messengers) but they denied both of them so We strengthened them with a third and they said Indeed, We to you (are) Messengers

Verse 15

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
مَآmāNot
أَنتُمْantumyou
إِلَّاillā(are) but
بَشَرٌۭbasharunhuman beings
مِّثْلُنَاmith'lunālike us
وَمَآwamāand not
أَنزَلَanzalahas revealed
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُl-raḥmānuthe Most Gracious
مِنminany
شَىْءٍshayinthing
إِنْinNot
أَنتُمْantumyou
إِلَّاillā(are) but
تَكْذِبُونَtakdhibūnalying

Translation

They said Not you (are) but human beings like us and not has revealed the Most Gracious any thing Not you (are) but lying

Verse 16

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
رَبُّنَاrabbunāOur Lord
يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknows
إِنَّآinnāthat we
إِلَيْكُمْilaykumto you
لَمُرْسَلُونَlamur'salūna(are) surely Messengers

Translation

They said Our Lord knows that we to you (are) surely Messengers

Verse 17

وَمَاwamāAnd not
عَلَيْنَآʿalaynā(is) on us
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلْبَلَـٰغُl-balāghuthe conveyance
ٱلْمُبِينُl-mubīnuclear

Translation

And not (is) on us except the conveyance clear

Verse 18

قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey said
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
تَطَيَّرْنَاtaṭayyarnā[we] see an evil omen
بِكُمْ ۖbikumfrom you
لَئِنla-inIf
لَّمْlamnot
تَنتَهُوا۟tantahūyou desist
لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْlanarjumannakumsurely, we will stone you
وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُمwalayamassannakumand surely will touch you
مِّنَّاminnāfrom us
عَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishment
أَلِيمٌۭalīmunpainful

Translation

They said Indeed, we [we] see an evil omen from you If not you desist surely, we will stone you and surely will touch you from us a punishment painful

Verse 19

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
طَـٰٓئِرُكُمṭāirukumYour evil omen
مَّعَكُمْ ۚmaʿakum(be) with you
أَئِنa-inIs it because
ذُكِّرْتُم ۚdhukkir'tumyou are admonished
بَلْbalNay
أَنتُمْantumyou
قَوْمٌۭqawmun(are) a people
مُّسْرِفُونَmus'rifūnatransgressing

Translation

They said Your evil omen (be) with you Is it because you are admonished Nay you (are) a people transgressing

Verse 20

وَجَآءَwajāaAnd came
مِنْminfrom
أَقْصَاaqṣā(the) farthest end
ٱلْمَدِينَةِl-madīnati(of) the city
رَجُلٌۭrajuluna man
يَسْعَىٰyasʿārunning
قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my People
ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ittabiʿūFollow
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Translation

And came from (the) farthest end (of) the city a man running He said O my People Follow the Messengers

Verse 21

ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ittabiʿūFollow
مَنman(those) who
لَّاlā(do) not
يَسْـَٔلُكُمْyasalukumask (of) you
أَجْرًۭاajranany payment
وَهُمwahumand they
مُّهْتَدُونَmuh'tadūna(are) rightly guided

Translation

Follow (those) who (do) not ask (of) you any payment and they (are) rightly guided

Verse 22

وَمَاwamāAnd what
لِىَliya(is) for me
لَآlā(that) not
أَعْبُدُaʿbuduI worship
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One Who
فَطَرَنِىfaṭaranīcreated me
وَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Whom
تُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned

Translation

And what (is) for me (that) not I worship the One Who created me and to Whom you will be returned

Verse 23

ءَأَتَّخِذُa-attakhidhuShould I take
مِنminbesides Him
دُونِهِۦٓdūnihibesides Him
ءَالِهَةًālihatangods
إِنinIf
يُرِدْنِyurid'niintends for me
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُl-raḥmānuthe Most Gracious
بِضُرٍّۢbiḍurrinany harm
لَّاlānot
تُغْنِtugh'niwill avail
عَنِّىʿannī[from] me
شَفَـٰعَتُهُمْshafāʿatuhumtheir intercession
شَيْـًۭٔاshayan(in) anything
وَلَاwalāand not
يُنقِذُونِyunqidhūnithey (can) save me

Translation

Should I take besides Him besides Him gods If intends for me the Most Gracious any harm not will avail [from] me their intercession (in) anything and not they (can) save me

Verse 24

إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
إِذًۭاidhanthen
لَّفِىlafīsurely would be in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢḍalālinan error
مُّبِينٍmubīninclear

Translation

Indeed, I then surely would be in an error clear

Verse 25

إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
ءَامَنتُāmantu[I] have believed
بِرَبِّكُمْbirabbikumin your Lord
فَٱسْمَعُونِfa-is'maʿūniso listen to me

Translation

Indeed, I [I] have believed in your Lord so listen to me

Verse 26

قِيلَqīlaIt was said
ٱدْخُلِud'khuliEnter
ٱلْجَنَّةَ ۖl-janataParadise
قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰلَيْتَyālaytaI wish
قَوْمِىqawmīmy people
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknew

Translation

It was said Enter Paradise He said I wish my people knew

Verse 27

بِمَاbimāOf how
غَفَرَghafarahas forgiven
لِىlīme
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
وَجَعَلَنِىwajaʿalanīand placed me
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْمُكْرَمِينَl-muk'ramīnathe honored ones

Translation

Of how has forgiven me my Lord and placed me among the honored ones

Verse 28

۞ وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَنزَلْنَاanzalnāWe sent down
عَلَىٰʿalāupon
قَوْمِهِۦqawmihihis people
مِنۢminafter him
بَعْدِهِۦbaʿdihiafter him
مِنminany
جُندٍۢjundinhost
مِّنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe heaven
وَمَاwamāand not
كُنَّاkunnāwere We
مُنزِلِينَmunzilīna(to) send down

Translation

And not We sent down upon his people after him after him any host from the heaven and not were We (to) send down

Verse 29

إِنinNot
كَانَتْkānatit was
إِلَّاillābut
صَيْحَةًۭṣayḥatana shout
وَٰحِدَةًۭwāḥidatanone
فَإِذَاfa-idhāthen behold
هُمْhumThey
خَـٰمِدُونَkhāmidūna(were) extinguished

Translation

Not it was but a shout one then behold They (were) extinguished

Verse 30

يَـٰحَسْرَةًyāḥasratanAlas
عَلَىʿalāfor
ٱلْعِبَادِ ۚl-ʿibādithe servants
مَاmāNot
يَأْتِيهِمyatīhimcame to them
مِّنminany
رَّسُولٍrasūlinMessenger
إِلَّاillābut
كَانُوا۟kānūthey did
بِهِۦbihimock at him
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūnamock at him

Translation

Alas for the servants Not came to them any Messenger but they did mock at him mock at him

Verse 31

أَلَمْalamDo not
يَرَوْا۟yarawthey see
كَمْkamhow many
أَهْلَكْنَاahlaknāWe destroyed
قَبْلَهُمqablahumbefore them
مِّنَminaof
ٱلْقُرُونِl-qurūnithe generations
أَنَّهُمْannahumThat they
إِلَيْهِمْilayhimto them
لَاlāwill not return
يَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūnawill not return

Translation

Do not they see how many We destroyed before them of the generations That they to them will not return will not return

Verse 32

وَإِنwa-inAnd surely
كُلٌّۭkullunall
لَّمَّاlammāthen
جَمِيعٌۭjamīʿuntogether
لَّدَيْنَاladaynābefore Us
مُحْضَرُونَmuḥ'ḍarūna(will be) brought

Translation

And surely all then together before Us (will be) brought

Verse 33

وَءَايَةٌۭwaāyatunAnd a Sign
لَّهُمُlahumufor them
ٱلْأَرْضُl-arḍu(is) the earth
ٱلْمَيْتَةُl-maytatudead
أَحْيَيْنَـٰهَاaḥyaynāhāWe give it life
وَأَخْرَجْنَاwa-akhrajnāand We bring forth
مِنْهَاmin'hāfrom it
حَبًّۭاḥabbangrain
فَمِنْهُfamin'huand from it
يَأْكُلُونَyakulūnathey eat

Translation

And a Sign for them (is) the earth dead We give it life and We bring forth from it grain and from it they eat

Verse 34

وَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāAnd We placed
فِيهَاfīhātherein
جَنَّـٰتٍۢjannātingardens
مِّنminof
نَّخِيلٍۢnakhīlindate-palms
وَأَعْنَـٰبٍۢwa-aʿnābinand grapevines
وَفَجَّرْنَاwafajjarnāand We caused to gush forth
فِيهَاfīhāin it
مِنَminaof
ٱلْعُيُونِl-ʿuyūnithe springs

Translation

And We placed therein gardens of date-palms and grapevines and We caused to gush forth in it of the springs

Verse 35

لِيَأْكُلُوا۟liyakulūThat they may eat
مِنminof
ثَمَرِهِۦthamarihiits fruit
وَمَاwamāAnd not
عَمِلَتْهُʿamilathumade it
أَيْدِيهِمْ ۖaydīhimtheir hands
أَفَلَاafalāSo will not
يَشْكُرُونَyashkurūnathey be grateful

Translation

That they may eat of its fruit And not made it their hands So will not they be grateful

Verse 36

سُبْحَـٰنَsub'ḥānaGlory be
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(to) the One Who
خَلَقَkhalaqacreated
ٱلْأَزْوَٰجَl-azwāja(in) pairs
كُلَّهَاkullahāall
مِمَّاmimmāof what
تُنۢبِتُtunbitugrows
ٱلْأَرْضُl-arḍuthe earth
وَمِنْwaminand of
أَنفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselves
وَمِمَّاwamimmāand of what
لَاlānot
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnathey know

Translation

Glory be (to) the One Who created (in) pairs all of what grows the earth and of themselves and of what not they know

Verse 37

وَءَايَةٌۭwaāyatunAnd a Sign
لَّهُمُlahumufor them
ٱلَّيْلُal-laylu(is) the night
نَسْلَخُnaslakhuWe withdraw
مِنْهُmin'hufrom it
ٱلنَّهَارَl-nahārathe day
فَإِذَاfa-idhāThen behold
هُمhumThey
مُّظْلِمُونَmuẓ'limūna(are) those in darkness

Translation

And a Sign for them (is) the night We withdraw from it the day Then behold They (are) those in darkness

Verse 38

وَٱلشَّمْسُwal-shamsuAnd the sun
تَجْرِىtajrīruns
لِمُسْتَقَرٍّۢlimus'taqarrinto a term appointed
لَّهَا ۚlahāfor it
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
تَقْدِيرُtaqdīru(is the) Decree
ٱلْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzi(of) the All-Mighty
ٱلْعَلِيمِl-ʿalīmithe All-Knowing

Translation

And the sun runs to a term appointed for it That (is the) Decree (of) the All-Mighty the All-Knowing

Verse 39

وَٱلْقَمَرَwal-qamaraAnd the moon
قَدَّرْنَـٰهُqaddarnāhuWe have ordained for it
مَنَازِلَmanāzilaphases
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
عَادَʿādait returns
كَٱلْعُرْجُونِkal-ʿur'jūnilike the date stalk
ٱلْقَدِيمِl-qadīmithe old

Translation

And the moon We have ordained for it phases until it returns like the date stalk the old

Verse 40

لَاlāNot
ٱلشَّمْسُl-shamsuthe sun
يَنۢبَغِىyanbaghīis permitted
لَهَآlahāfor it
أَنanthat
تُدْرِكَtud'rikait overtakes
ٱلْقَمَرَl-qamarathe moon
وَلَاwalāand not
ٱلَّيْلُal-layluthe night
سَابِقُsābiqu(can) outstrip
ٱلنَّهَارِ ۚl-nahārithe day
وَكُلٌّۭwakullunbut all
فِىfīin
فَلَكٍۢfalakinan orbit
يَسْبَحُونَyasbaḥūnathey are floating

Translation

Not the sun is permitted for it that it overtakes the moon and not the night (can) outstrip the day but all in an orbit they are floating

Verse 41

وَءَايَةٌۭwaāyatunAnd a Sign
لَّهُمْlahumfor them
أَنَّاannā(is) that
حَمَلْنَاḥamalnāWe carried
ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْdhurriyyatahumtheir offspring
فِىfīin
ٱلْفُلْكِl-ful'kithe ship
ٱلْمَشْحُونِl-mashḥūniladen

Translation

And a Sign for them (is) that We carried their offspring in the ship laden

Verse 42

وَخَلَقْنَاwakhalaqnāAnd We created
لَهُمlahumfor them
مِّنminfrom
مِّثْلِهِۦmith'lihi(the) likes of it
مَاmāwhat
يَرْكَبُونَyarkabūnathey ride

Translation

And We created for them from (the) likes of it what they ride

Verse 43

وَإِنwa-inAnd if
نَّشَأْnashaWe will
نُغْرِقْهُمْnugh'riq'humWe could drown them
فَلَاfalāthen not
صَرِيخَṣarīkha(would be) a responder to a cry
لَهُمْlahumfor them
وَلَاwalāand not
هُمْhumthey
يُنقَذُونَyunqadhūnawould be saved

Translation

And if We will We could drown them then not (would be) a responder to a cry for them and not they would be saved

Verse 44

إِلَّاillāExcept
رَحْمَةًۭraḥmatan(by) Mercy
مِّنَّاminnāfrom Us
وَمَتَـٰعًاwamatāʿanand provision
إِلَىٰilāfor
حِينٍۢḥīnina time

Translation

Except (by) Mercy from Us and provision for a time

Verse 45

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
قِيلَqīlait is said
لَهُمُlahumuto them
ٱتَّقُوا۟ittaqūFear
مَاmāwhat
بَيْنَbayna(is) before you
أَيْدِيكُمْaydīkum(is) before you
وَمَاwamāand what
خَلْفَكُمْkhalfakum(is) behind you
لَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
تُرْحَمُونَtur'ḥamūnareceive mercy

Translation

And when it is said to them Fear what (is) before you (is) before you and what (is) behind you so that you may receive mercy

Verse 46

وَمَاwamāAnd not
تَأْتِيهِمtatīhimcomes to them
مِّنْminof
ءَايَةٍۢāyatina Sign
مِّنْminfrom
ءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Signs
رَبِّهِمْrabbihim(of) their Lord
إِلَّاillābut
كَانُوا۟kānūthey
عَنْهَاʿanhāfrom it
مُعْرِضِينَmuʿ'riḍīnaturn away

Translation

And not comes to them of a Sign from (the) Signs (of) their Lord but they from it turn away

Verse 47

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
قِيلَqīlait is said
لَهُمْlahumto them
أَنفِقُوا۟anfiqūSpend
مِمَّاmimmāfrom what
رَزَقَكُمُrazaqakumu(has) provided you
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
قَالَqālaSaid
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieved
لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanūbelieved
أَنُطْعِمُanuṭ'ʿimuShould we feed
مَنmanwhom
لَّوْlawif
يَشَآءُyashāuAllah willed
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah willed
أَطْعَمَهُۥٓaṭʿamahuHe would have fed him
إِنْinNot
أَنتُمْantum(are) you
إِلَّاillāexcept
فِىfīin
ضَلَـٰلٍۢḍalālinan error
مُّبِينٍۢmubīninclear

Translation

And when it is said to them Spend from what (has) provided you Allah Said those who disbelieved to those who believed Should we feed whom if Allah willed Allah willed He would have fed him Not (are) you except in an error clear

Verse 48

وَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they say
مَتَىٰmatāWhen (is)
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
ٱلْوَعْدُl-waʿdupromise
إِنinif
كُنتُمْkuntumyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful

Translation

And they say When (is) this promise if you are truthful

Verse 49

مَاmāNot
يَنظُرُونَyanẓurūnathey await
إِلَّاillāexcept
صَيْحَةًۭṣayḥatana shout
وَٰحِدَةًۭwāḥidatanone
تَأْخُذُهُمْtakhudhuhumit will seize them
وَهُمْwahumwhile they
يَخِصِّمُونَyakhiṣṣimūnaare disputing

Translation

Not they await except a shout one it will seize them while they are disputing

Verse 50

فَلَاfalāThen not
يَسْتَطِيعُونَyastaṭīʿūnathey will be able
تَوْصِيَةًۭtawṣiyatan(to) make a will
وَلَآwalāand not
إِلَىٰٓilāto
أَهْلِهِمْahlihimtheir people
يَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūnathey (can) return

Translation

Then not they will be able (to) make a will and not to their people they (can) return

Verse 51

وَنُفِخَwanufikhaAnd will be blown
فِىfī[in]
ٱلصُّورِl-ṣūrithe trumpet
فَإِذَاfa-idhāand behold
هُمhumThey
مِّنَminafrom
ٱلْأَجْدَاثِl-ajdāthithe graves
إِلَىٰilāto
رَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lord
يَنسِلُونَyansilūna[they] will hasten

Translation

And will be blown [in] the trumpet and behold They from the graves to their Lord [they] will hasten

Verse 52

قَالُوا۟qālūThey [will] say
يَـٰوَيْلَنَاyāwaylanāO woe to us
مَنۢmanWho
بَعَثَنَاbaʿathanāhas raised us
مِنminfrom
مَّرْقَدِنَا ۜ ۗmarqadināour sleeping place
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis (is)
مَاmāWhat
وَعَدَwaʿada(had) promised
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُl-raḥmānuthe Most Gracious
وَصَدَقَwaṣadaqaand told (the) truth
ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَl-mur'salūnathe Messengers

Translation

They [will] say O woe to us Who has raised us from our sleeping place This (is) What (had) promised the Most Gracious and told (the) truth the Messengers

Verse 53

إِنinNot
كَانَتْkānatit will be
إِلَّاillābut
صَيْحَةًۭṣayḥatana shout
وَٰحِدَةًۭwāḥidatansingle
فَإِذَاfa-idhāso behold
هُمْhumThey
جَمِيعٌۭjamīʿunall
لَّدَيْنَاladaynābefore Us
مُحْضَرُونَmuḥ'ḍarūna(will be) brought

Translation

Not it will be but a shout single so behold They all before Us (will be) brought

Verse 54

فَٱلْيَوْمَfal-yawmaSo this Day
لَاlānot
تُظْلَمُtuẓ'lamuwill be wronged
نَفْسٌۭnafsuna soul
شَيْـًۭٔاshayan(in) anything
وَلَاwalāand not
تُجْزَوْنَtuj'zawnayou will be recompensed
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَاmā(for) what
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used (to)
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado

Translation

So this Day not will be wronged a soul (in) anything and not you will be recompensed except (for) what you used (to) do

Verse 55

إِنَّinnaIndeed
أَصْحَـٰبَaṣḥāba(the) companions
ٱلْجَنَّةِl-janati(of) Paradise
ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmathis Day
فِىfī[in]
شُغُلٍۢshughulinwill be occupied
فَـٰكِهُونَfākihūna(in) amusement

Translation

Indeed (the) companions (of) Paradise this Day [in] will be occupied (in) amusement

Verse 56

هُمْhumThey
وَأَزْوَٰجُهُمْwa-azwājuhumand their spouses
فِىfīin
ظِلَـٰلٍẓilālinshades
عَلَىʿalāon
ٱلْأَرَآئِكِl-arāiki[the] couches
مُتَّكِـُٔونَmuttakiūnareclining

Translation

They and their spouses in shades on [the] couches reclining

Verse 57

لَهُمْlahumFor them
فِيهَاfīhātherein
فَـٰكِهَةٌۭfākihatun(are) fruits
وَلَهُمwalahumand for them
مَّاmā(is) whatever
يَدَّعُونَyaddaʿūnathey call for

Translation

For them therein (are) fruits and for them (is) whatever they call for

Verse 58

سَلَـٰمٌۭsalāmunPeace
قَوْلًۭاqawlanA word
مِّنminfrom
رَّبٍّۢrabbina Lord
رَّحِيمٍۢraḥīminMost Merciful

Translation

Peace A word from a Lord Most Merciful

Verse 59

وَٱمْتَـٰزُوا۟wa-im'tāzūBut stand apart
ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmatoday
أَيُّهَاayyuhāO criminals
ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَl-muj'rimūnaO criminals

Translation

But stand apart today O criminals O criminals

Verse 60

۞ أَلَمْalamDid not
أَعْهَدْaʿhadI enjoin
إِلَيْكُمْilaykumupon you
يَـٰبَنِىٓyābanīO Children of Adam
ءَادَمَādamaO Children of Adam
أَنanThat
لَّاlā(do) not
تَعْبُدُوا۟taʿbudūworship
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ ۖl-shayṭānathe Shaitaan
إِنَّهُۥinnahuindeed, he
لَكُمْlakum(is) for you
عَدُوٌّۭʿaduwwunan enemy
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclear

Translation

Did not I enjoin upon you O Children of Adam O Children of Adam That (do) not worship the Shaitaan indeed, he (is) for you an enemy clear

Verse 61

وَأَنِwa-aniAnd that
ٱعْبُدُونِى ۚuʿ'budūnīyou worship Me
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
صِرَٰطٌۭṣirāṭun(is) a Path
مُّسْتَقِيمٌۭmus'taqīmunStraight

Translation

And that you worship Me This (is) a Path Straight

Verse 62

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd indeed
أَضَلَّaḍallahe led astray
مِنكُمْminkumfrom you
جِبِلًّۭاjibillana multitude
كَثِيرًا ۖkathīrangreat
أَفَلَمْafalamThen did not
تَكُونُوا۟takūnūyou
تَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnause reason

Translation

And indeed he led astray from you a multitude great Then did not you use reason

Verse 63

هَـٰذِهِۦhādhihiThis (is)
جَهَنَّمُjahannamu(the) Hell
ٱلَّتِىallatīwhich
كُنتُمْkuntumyou were
تُوعَدُونَtūʿadūnapromised

Translation

This (is) (the) Hell which you were promised

Verse 64

ٱصْلَوْهَاiṣ'lawhāBurn therein
ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmatoday
بِمَاbimābecause
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَكْفُرُونَtakfurūnadisbelieve

Translation

Burn therein today because you used to disbelieve

Verse 65

ٱلْيَوْمَal-yawmaThis Day
نَخْتِمُnakhtimuWe will seal
عَلَىٰٓʿalā[on]
أَفْوَٰهِهِمْafwāhihimtheir mouths
وَتُكَلِّمُنَآwatukallimunāand will speak to Us
أَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir hands
وَتَشْهَدُwatashhaduand will bear witness
أَرْجُلُهُمarjuluhumtheir feet
بِمَاbimāabout what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearn

Translation

This Day We will seal [on] their mouths and will speak to Us their hands and will bear witness their feet about what they used to earn

Verse 66

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
نَشَآءُnashāuWe willed
لَطَمَسْنَاlaṭamasnāWe (would have) surely obliterated
عَلَىٰٓʿalā[over]
أَعْيُنِهِمْaʿyunihimtheir eyes
فَٱسْتَبَقُوا۟fa-is'tabaqūthen they (would) race
ٱلصِّرَٰطَl-ṣirāṭa(to find) the path
فَأَنَّىٰfa-annāthen how
يُبْصِرُونَyub'ṣirūna(could) they see

Translation

And if We willed We (would have) surely obliterated [over] their eyes then they (would) race (to find) the path then how (could) they see

Verse 67

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
نَشَآءُnashāuWe willed
لَمَسَخْنَـٰهُمْlamasakhnāhumsurely, We (would have) transformed them
عَلَىٰʿalāin
مَكَانَتِهِمْmakānatihimtheir places
فَمَاfamāthen not
ٱسْتَطَـٰعُوا۟is'taṭāʿūthey would have been able
مُضِيًّۭاmuḍiyyanto proceed
وَلَاwalāand not
يَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūnareturn

Translation

And if We willed surely, We (would have) transformed them in their places then not they would have been able to proceed and not return

Verse 68

وَمَنwamanAnd (he) whom
نُّعَمِّرْهُnuʿammir'huWe grant him long life
نُنَكِّسْهُnunakkis'huWe reverse him
فِىfīin
ٱلْخَلْقِ ۖl-khalqithe creation
أَفَلَاafalāThen will not
يَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnathey use intellect

Translation

And (he) whom We grant him long life We reverse him in the creation Then will not they use intellect

Verse 69

وَمَاwamāAnd not
عَلَّمْنَـٰهُʿallamnāhuWe taught him
ٱلشِّعْرَl-shiʿ'ra[the] poetry
وَمَاwamāand not
يَنۢبَغِىyanbaghīit is befitting
لَهُۥٓ ۚlahufor him
إِنْinNot
هُوَhuwait
إِلَّاillā(is) except
ذِكْرٌۭdhik'runa Reminder
وَقُرْءَانٌۭwaqur'ānunand a Quran
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclear

Translation

And not We taught him [the] poetry and not it is befitting for him Not it (is) except a Reminder and a Quran clear

Verse 70

لِّيُنذِرَliyundhiraTo warn
مَنman(him) who
كَانَkānais
حَيًّۭاḥayyanalive
وَيَحِقَّwayaḥiqqaand may be proved true
ٱلْقَوْلُl-qawluthe Word
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers

Translation

To warn (him) who is alive and may be proved true the Word against the disbelievers

Verse 71

أَوَلَمْawalamDo not
يَرَوْا۟yarawthey see
أَنَّاannāthat We
خَلَقْنَاkhalaqnā[We] created
لَهُمlahumfor them
مِّمَّاmimmāfrom what
عَمِلَتْʿamilathave made
أَيْدِينَآaydīnāOur hands
أَنْعَـٰمًۭاanʿāmancattle
فَهُمْfahumthen they
لَهَاlahā[for them]
مَـٰلِكُونَmālikūna(are the) owners

Translation

Do not they see that We [We] created for them from what have made Our hands cattle then they [for them] (are the) owners

Verse 72

وَذَلَّلْنَـٰهَاwadhallalnāhāAnd We have tamed them
لَهُمْlahumfor them
فَمِنْهَاfamin'hāso some of them
رَكُوبُهُمْrakūbuhumthey ride them
وَمِنْهَاwamin'hāand some of them
يَأْكُلُونَyakulūnathey eat

Translation

And We have tamed them for them so some of them they ride them and some of them they eat

Verse 73

وَلَهُمْwalahumAnd for them
فِيهَاfīhātherein
مَنَـٰفِعُmanāfiʿu(are) benefits
وَمَشَارِبُ ۖwamashāribuand drinks
أَفَلَاafalāso (will) not
يَشْكُرُونَyashkurūnathey give thanks

Translation

And for them therein (are) benefits and drinks so (will) not they give thanks

Verse 74

وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟wa-ittakhadhūBut they have taken
مِنminbesides
دُونِdūnibesides
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
ءَالِهَةًۭālihatangods
لَّعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumthat they may
يُنصَرُونَyunṣarūnabe helped

Translation

But they have taken besides besides Allah gods that they may be helped

Verse 75

لَاlāNot
يَسْتَطِيعُونَyastaṭīʿūnathey are able
نَصْرَهُمْnaṣrahumto help them
وَهُمْwahumbut they
لَهُمْlahumfor them
جُندٌۭjundun(are) hosts
مُّحْضَرُونَmuḥ'ḍarūna(who will) be brought

Translation

Not they are able to help them but they for them (are) hosts (who will) be brought

Verse 76

فَلَاfalāSo (let) not
يَحْزُنكَyaḥzunkagrieve you
قَوْلُهُمْ ۘqawluhumtheir speech
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
نَعْلَمُnaʿlamu[We] know
مَاmāwhat
يُسِرُّونَyusirrūnathey conceal
وَمَاwamāand what
يُعْلِنُونَyuʿ'linūnathey declare

Translation

So (let) not grieve you their speech Indeed, We [We] know what they conceal and what they declare

Verse 77

أَوَلَمْawalamDoes not
يَرَyarasee
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānu[the] man
أَنَّاannāthat We
خَلَقْنَـٰهُkhalaqnāhu[We] created him
مِنminfrom
نُّطْفَةٍۢnuṭ'fatina semen-drop
فَإِذَاfa-idhāThen behold
هُوَhuwaHe
خَصِيمٌۭkhaṣīmun(is) an opponent
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclear

Translation

Does not see [the] man that We [We] created him from a semen-drop Then behold He (is) an opponent clear

Verse 78

وَضَرَبَwaḍarabaAnd he sets forth
لَنَاlanāfor Us
مَثَلًۭاmathalanan example
وَنَسِىَwanasiyaand forgets
خَلْقَهُۥ ۖkhalqahuhis (own) creation
قَالَqālaHe says
مَنmanWho
يُحْىِyuḥ'yīwill give life
ٱلْعِظَـٰمَl-ʿiẓāma(to) the bones
وَهِىَwahiyawhile they
رَمِيمٌۭramīmun(are) decomposed

Translation

And he sets forth for Us an example and forgets his (own) creation He says Who will give life (to) the bones while they (are) decomposed

Verse 79

قُلْqulSay
يُحْيِيهَاyuḥ'yīhāHe will give them life
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhīWho
أَنشَأَهَآansha-ahāproduced them
أَوَّلَawwala(the) first
مَرَّةٍۢ ۖmarratintime
وَهُوَwahuwaand He
بِكُلِّbikulli(is) of every
خَلْقٍkhalqincreation
عَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knower

Translation

Say He will give them life Who produced them (the) first time and He (is) of every creation All-Knower

Verse 80

ٱلَّذِىalladhīThe One Who
جَعَلَjaʿalamade
لَكُمlakumfor you
مِّنَminafrom
ٱلشَّجَرِl-shajarithe tree
ٱلْأَخْضَرِl-akhḍari[the] green
نَارًۭاnāranfire
فَإِذَآfa-idhāand behold
أَنتُمantumYou
مِّنْهُmin'hufrom it
تُوقِدُونَtūqidūnaignite

Translation

The One Who made for you from the tree [the] green fire and behold You from it ignite

Verse 81

أَوَلَيْسَawalaysaIs it not
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(He) Who
خَلَقَkhalaqacreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earth
بِقَـٰدِرٍbiqādirinAble
عَلَىٰٓʿalāto
أَنan[that]
يَخْلُقَyakhluqacreate
مِثْلَهُم ۚmith'lahum(the) like of them
بَلَىٰbalāYes, indeed
وَهُوَwahuwaand He
ٱلْخَلَّـٰقُl-khalāqu(is) the Supreme Creator
ٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower

Translation

Is it not (He) Who created the heavens and the earth Able to [that] create (the) like of them Yes, indeed and He (is) the Supreme Creator the All-Knower

Verse 82

إِنَّمَآinnamāOnly
أَمْرُهُۥٓamruhuHis Command
إِذَآidhāwhen
أَرَادَarādaHe intends
شَيْـًٔاshayana thing
أَنanthat
يَقُولَyaqūlaHe says
لَهُۥlahuto it
كُنkunBe
فَيَكُونُfayakūnuand it is

Translation

Only His Command when He intends a thing that He says to it Be and it is

Verse 83

فَسُبْحَـٰنَfasub'ḥānaSo glory be
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(to) the One who
بِيَدِهِۦbiyadihiin Whose hand
مَلَكُوتُmalakūtuis (the) dominion
كُلِّkulli(of) all
شَىْءٍۢshayinthings
وَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Him
تُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned

Translation

So glory be (to) the One who in Whose hand is (the) dominion (of) all things and to Him you will be returned
