Chapter 37Meccan182 Verses

Verse 1

وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِwal-ṣāfātiBy those lined
صَفًّۭاṣaffan(in) rows

Translation

By those lined (in) rows

Verse 2

فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِfal-zājirātiAnd those who drive
زَجْرًۭاzajranstrongly

Translation

And those who drive strongly

Verse 3

فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَـٰتِfal-tāliyātiAnd those who recite
ذِكْرًاdhik'ran(the) Message

Translation

And those who recite (the) Message

Verse 4

إِنَّinnaIndeed
إِلَـٰهَكُمْilāhakumyour Lord
لَوَٰحِدٌۭlawāḥidun(is) surely One

Translation

Indeed your Lord (is) surely One

Verse 5

رَّبُّrabbuLord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
وَمَاwamāand what
بَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā(is) between both of them
وَرَبُّwarabbuand Lord
ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِl-mashāriqi(of) each point of sunrise

Translation

Lord (of) the heavens and the earth and what (is) between both of them and Lord (of) each point of sunrise

Verse 6

إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
زَيَّنَّاzayyannā[We] adorned
ٱلسَّمَآءَl-samāathe sky
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā[the world]
بِزِينَةٍbizīnatinwith an adornment
ٱلْكَوَاكِبِl-kawākibi(of) the stars

Translation

Indeed, We [We] adorned the sky [the world] with an adornment (of) the stars

Verse 7

وَحِفْظًۭاwaḥif'ẓanAnd (to) guard
مِّنminagainst
كُلِّkullievery
شَيْطَـٰنٍۢshayṭānindevil
مَّارِدٍۢmāridinrebellious

Translation

And (to) guard against every devil rebellious

Verse 8

لَّاlāNot
يَسَّمَّعُونَyassammaʿūnathey may listen
إِلَىilāto
ٱلْمَلَإِl-mala-ithe assembly
ٱلْأَعْلَىٰl-aʿlā[the] exalted
وَيُقْذَفُونَwayuq'dhafūnaare pelted
مِنminfrom
كُلِّkullievery
جَانِبٍۢjānibinside

Translation

Not they may listen to the assembly [the] exalted are pelted from every side

Verse 9

دُحُورًۭا ۖduḥūranRepelled
وَلَهُمْwalahumand for them
عَذَابٌۭʿadhābun(is) a punishment
وَاصِبٌwāṣibunperpetual

Translation

Repelled and for them (is) a punishment perpetual

Verse 10

إِلَّاillāExcept
مَنْman(him) who
خَطِفَkhaṭifasnatches
ٱلْخَطْفَةَl-khaṭfata(by) theft
فَأَتْبَعَهُۥfa-atbaʿahubut follows him
شِهَابٌۭshihābuna burning flame
ثَاقِبٌۭthāqibunpiercing

Translation

Except (him) who snatches (by) theft but follows him a burning flame piercing

Verse 11

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْfa-is'taftihimThen ask them
أَهُمْahumAre they
أَشَدُّashaddua stronger
خَلْقًاkhalqancreation
أَمamor
مَّنْman(those) whom
خَلَقْنَآ ۚkhalaqnāWe have created
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
خَلَقْنَـٰهُمkhalaqnāhumcreated them
مِّنminfrom
طِينٍۢṭīnina clay
لَّازِبٍۭlāzibinsticky

Translation

Then ask them Are they a stronger creation or (those) whom We have created Indeed, We created them from a clay sticky

Verse 12

بَلْbalNay
عَجِبْتَʿajib'tayou wonder
وَيَسْخَرُونَwayaskharūnawhile they mock

Translation

Nay you wonder while they mock

Verse 13

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
ذُكِّرُوا۟dhukkirūthey are reminded
لَاlānot
يَذْكُرُونَyadhkurūnathey receive admonition

Translation

And when they are reminded not they receive admonition

Verse 14

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
رَأَوْا۟ra-awthey see
ءَايَةًۭāyatana Sign
يَسْتَسْخِرُونَyastaskhirūnathey mock

Translation

And when they see a Sign they mock

Verse 15

وَقَالُوٓا۟waqālūAnd they say
إِنْinNot
هَـٰذَآhādhā(is) this
إِلَّاillāexcept
سِحْرٌۭsiḥ'runa magic
مُّبِينٌmubīnunclear

Translation

And they say Not (is) this except a magic clear

Verse 16

أَءِذَاa-idhāIs it when
مِتْنَاmit'nāwe are dead
وَكُنَّاwakunnāand have become
تُرَابًۭاturābandust
وَعِظَـٰمًاwaʿiẓāmanand bones
أَءِنَّاa-innāshall we then
لَمَبْعُوثُونَlamabʿūthūnabe certainly resurrected

Translation

Is it when we are dead and have become dust and bones shall we then be certainly resurrected

Verse 17

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَاawaābāunāOr our fathers
ٱلْأَوَّلُونَl-awalūnaformer

Translation

Or our fathers former

Verse 18

قُلْqulSay
نَعَمْnaʿamYes
وَأَنتُمْwa-antumand you
دَٰخِرُونَdākhirūna(will be) humiliated

Translation

Say Yes and you (will be) humiliated

Verse 19

فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāThen only
هِىَhiyait
زَجْرَةٌۭzajratun(will be) a cry
وَٰحِدَةٌۭwāḥidatunsingle
فَإِذَاfa-idhāthen, behold
هُمْhumThey
يَنظُرُونَyanẓurūnawill see

Translation

Then only it (will be) a cry single then, behold They will see

Verse 20

وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they will say
يَـٰوَيْلَنَاyāwaylanāO woe to us
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
يَوْمُyawmu(is the) Day
ٱلدِّينِl-dīni(of) the Recompense

Translation

And they will say O woe to us This (is the) Day (of) the Recompense

Verse 21

هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
يَوْمُyawmu(is the) Day
ٱلْفَصْلِl-faṣli(of) Judgment
ٱلَّذِىalladhīwhich
كُنتُمkuntumyou used to
بِهِۦbihi[of it]
تُكَذِّبُونَtukadhibūnadeny

Translation

This (is the) Day (of) Judgment which you used to [of it] deny

Verse 22

۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟uḥ'shurūGather
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ظَلَمُوا۟ẓalamūwronged
وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْwa-azwājahumand their kinds
وَمَاwamāand what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)
يَعْبُدُونَyaʿbudūnaworship

Translation

Gather those who wronged and their kinds and what they used (to) worship

Verse 23

مِنminBesides
دُونِdūniBesides
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
فَٱهْدُوهُمْfa-ih'dūhumthen lead them
إِلَىٰilāto
صِرَٰطِṣirāṭi(the) Path
ٱلْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmi(of) the Hellfire

Translation

Besides Besides Allah then lead them to (the) Path (of) the Hellfire

Verse 24

وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖwaqifūhumAnd stop them
إِنَّهُمinnahumindeed, they
مَّسْـُٔولُونَmasūlūna(are) to be questioned

Translation

And stop them indeed, they (are) to be questioned

Verse 25

مَاmāWhat
لَكُمْlakum(is) for you
لَاlā(Why) not
تَنَاصَرُونَtanāṣarūnayou help one another

Translation

What (is) for you (Why) not you help one another

Verse 26

بَلْbalNay
هُمُhumuthey
ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawma(on) that Day
مُسْتَسْلِمُونَmus'taslimūna(will) surrender

Translation

Nay they (on) that Day (will) surrender

Verse 27

وَأَقْبَلَwa-aqbalaAnd will approach
بَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumsome of them
عَلَىٰʿalāto
بَعْضٍۢbaʿḍinothers
يَتَسَآءَلُونَyatasāalūnaquestioning one another

Translation

And will approach some of them to others questioning one another

Verse 28

قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey will say
إِنَّكُمْinnakumIndeed, you
كُنتُمْkuntum[you] used (to)
تَأْتُونَنَاtatūnanācome (to) us
عَنِʿanifrom
ٱلْيَمِينِl-yamīnithe right

Translation

They will say Indeed, you [you] used (to) come (to) us from the right

Verse 29

قَالُوا۟qālūThey will say
بَلbalNay
لَّمْlamnot
تَكُونُوا۟takūnūyou were
مُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers

Translation

They will say Nay not you were believers

Verse 30

وَمَاwamāAnd not
كَانَkānawas
لَنَاlanāfor us
عَلَيْكُمʿalaykumover you
مِّنminany
سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ ۖsul'ṭāninauthority
بَلْbalNay
كُنتُمْkuntumyou were
قَوْمًۭاqawmana people
طَـٰغِينَṭāghīnatransgressing

Translation

And not was for us over you any authority Nay you were a people transgressing

Verse 31

فَحَقَّfaḥaqqaSo has been proved true
عَلَيْنَاʿalaynāagainst us
قَوْلُqawlu(the) Word
رَبِّنَآ ۖrabbinā(of) our Lord
إِنَّاinnāindeed, we
لَذَآئِقُونَladhāiqūna(will) certainly taste

Translation

So has been proved true against us (the) Word (of) our Lord indeed, we (will) certainly taste

Verse 32

فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْfa-aghwaynākumSo we led you astray
إِنَّاinnāindeed, we
كُنَّاkunnāwere
غَـٰوِينَghāwīnaastray

Translation

So we led you astray indeed, we were astray

Verse 33

فَإِنَّهُمْfa-innahumThen indeed, they
يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhinthat Day
فِىfīin
ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābithe punishment
مُشْتَرِكُونَmush'tarikūna(will be) sharers

Translation

Then indeed, they that Day in the punishment (will be) sharers

Verse 34

إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikathus
نَفْعَلُnafʿaluWe deal
بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَbil-muj'rimīnawith the criminals

Translation

Indeed, We thus We deal with the criminals

Verse 35

إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, they
كَانُوٓا۟kānūwere
إِذَاidhāwhen
قِيلَqīlait was said
لَهُمْlahumto them
لَآlā(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
يَسْتَكْبِرُونَyastakbirūnawere arrogant

Translation

Indeed, they were when it was said to them (There is) no god except Allah were arrogant

Verse 36

وَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they say
أَئِنَّاa-innāAre we
لَتَارِكُوٓا۟latārikūto leave
ءَالِهَتِنَاālihatināour gods
لِشَاعِرٍۢlishāʿirinfor a poet
مَّجْنُونٍۭmajnūninmad

Translation

And they say Are we to leave our gods for a poet mad

Verse 37

بَلْbalNay
جَآءَjāahe has brought
بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqithe truth
وَصَدَّقَwaṣaddaqaand confirmed
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Translation

Nay he has brought the truth and confirmed the Messengers

Verse 38

إِنَّكُمْinnakumIndeed, you
لَذَآئِقُوا۟ladhāiqū(will) surely taste
ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābithe punishment
ٱلْأَلِيمِl-alīmipainful

Translation

Indeed, you (will) surely taste the punishment painful

Verse 39

وَمَاwamāAnd not
تُجْزَوْنَtuj'zawnayou will be recompensed
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَاmāwhat
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado

Translation

And not you will be recompensed except what you used to do

Verse 40

إِلَّاillāExcept
عِبَادَʿibāda(the) slaves
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَl-mukh'laṣīnathe chosen ones

Translation

Except (the) slaves (of) Allah the chosen ones

Verse 41

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
لَهُمْlahumfor them
رِزْقٌۭriz'qun(will be) a provision
مَّعْلُومٌۭmaʿlūmundetermined

Translation

Those for them (will be) a provision determined

Verse 42

فَوَٰكِهُ ۖfawākihuFruits
وَهُمwahumand they
مُّكْرَمُونَmuk'ramūna(will) be honored

Translation

Fruits and they (will) be honored

Verse 43

فِىfīIn
جَنَّـٰتِjannātiGardens
ٱلنَّعِيمِl-naʿīmi(of) Delight

Translation

In Gardens (of) Delight

Verse 44

عَلَىٰʿalāOn
سُرُرٍۢsururinthrones
مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَmutaqābilīnafacing each other

Translation

On thrones facing each other

Verse 45

يُطَافُyuṭāfuWill be circulated
عَلَيْهِمʿalayhimamong them
بِكَأْسٍۢbikasina cup
مِّنminfrom
مَّعِينٍۭmaʿīnina flowing spring

Translation

Will be circulated among them a cup from a flowing spring

Verse 46

بَيْضَآءَbayḍāaWhite
لَذَّةٍۢladhatindelicious
لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَlilshāribīnafor the drinkers

Translation

White delicious for the drinkers

Verse 47

لَاlāNot
فِيهَاfīhāin it
غَوْلٌۭghawlun(is) bad effect
وَلَاwalāand not
هُمْhumthey
عَنْهَاʿanhāfrom it
يُنزَفُونَyunzafūnawill be intoxicated

Translation

Not in it (is) bad effect and not they from it will be intoxicated

Verse 48

وَعِندَهُمْwaʿindahumAnd with them
قَـٰصِرَٰتُqāṣirātu(will be) companions of modest gaze
ٱلطَّرْفِl-ṭarfi(will be) companions of modest gaze
عِينٌۭʿīnun(having) beautiful eyes

Translation

And with them (will be) companions of modest gaze (will be) companions of modest gaze (having) beautiful eyes

Verse 49

كَأَنَّهُنَّka-annahunnaAs if they were
بَيْضٌۭbayḍuneggs
مَّكْنُونٌۭmaknūnunwell protected

Translation

As if they were eggs well protected

Verse 50

فَأَقْبَلَfa-aqbalaAnd (will) approach
بَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumsome of them
عَلَىٰʿalāto
بَعْضٍۢbaʿḍinothers
يَتَسَآءَلُونَyatasāalūnaquestioning one another

Translation

And (will) approach some of them to others questioning one another

Verse 51

قَالَqālaWill say
قَآئِلٌۭqāiluna speaker
مِّنْهُمْmin'humamong them
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I
كَانَkānahad
لِىlīfor me
قَرِينٌۭqarīnuna companion

Translation

Will say a speaker among them Indeed, I had for me a companion

Verse 52

يَقُولُyaqūluWho (would) say
أَءِنَّكَa-innakaAre you indeed
لَمِنَlaminasurely of
ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَl-muṣadiqīnathose who believe

Translation

Who (would) say Are you indeed surely of those who believe

Verse 53

أَءِذَاa-idhāIs (it) when
مِتْنَاmit'nāwe have died
وَكُنَّاwakunnāand become
تُرَابًۭاturābandust
وَعِظَـٰمًاwaʿiẓāmanand bones
أَءِنَّاa-innāwill we
لَمَدِينُونَlamadīnūnasurely be brought to Judgment

Translation

Is (it) when we have died and become dust and bones will we surely be brought to Judgment

Verse 54

قَالَqālaHe (will) say
هَلْhalWill
أَنتُمantumyou
مُّطَّلِعُونَmuṭṭaliʿūnabe looking

Translation

He (will) say Will you be looking

Verse 55

فَٱطَّلَعَfa-iṭṭalaʿaThen he (will) look
فَرَءَاهُfaraāhuand see him
فِىfīin
سَوَآءِsawāi(the) midst
ٱلْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmi(of) the Hellfire

Translation

Then he (will) look and see him in (the) midst (of) the Hellfire

Verse 56

قَالَqālaHe (will) say
تَٱللَّهِtal-lahiBy Allah
إِنinverily
كِدتَّkidttayou almost
لَتُرْدِينِlatur'dīniruined me

Translation

He (will) say By Allah verily you almost ruined me

Verse 57

وَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if not
نِعْمَةُniʿ'matu(for the) Grace
رَبِّىrabbī(of) my Lord
لَكُنتُlakuntucertainly, I (would) have been
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَl-muḥ'ḍarīnathose brought

Translation

And if not (for the) Grace (of) my Lord certainly, I (would) have been among those brought

Verse 58

أَفَمَاafamāThen are not
نَحْنُnaḥnuwe
بِمَيِّتِينَbimayyitīna(to) die

Translation

Then are not we (to) die

Verse 59

إِلَّاillāExcept
مَوْتَتَنَاmawtatanāour death
ٱلْأُولَىٰl-ūlāthe first
وَمَاwamāand not
نَحْنُnaḥnuwe
بِمُعَذَّبِينَbimuʿadhabīnawill be punished

Translation

Except our death the first and not we will be punished

Verse 60

إِنَّinnaIndeed
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
لَهُوَlahuwasurely
ٱلْفَوْزُl-fawzu(is) the attainment
ٱلْعَظِيمُl-ʿaẓīmugreat

Translation

Indeed this surely (is) the attainment great

Verse 61

لِمِثْلِlimith'liFor (the) like
هَـٰذَاhādhā(of) this
فَلْيَعْمَلِfalyaʿmalilet work
ٱلْعَـٰمِلُونَl-ʿāmilūnathe workers

Translation

For (the) like (of) this let work the workers

Verse 62

أَذَٰلِكَadhālikaIs that
خَيْرٌۭkhayrunbetter
نُّزُلًاnuzulan(as) hospitality
أَمْamor
شَجَرَةُshajaratu(the) tree
ٱلزَّقُّومِl-zaqūmi(of) Zaqqum

Translation

Is that better (as) hospitality or (the) tree (of) Zaqqum

Verse 63

إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
جَعَلْنَـٰهَاjaʿalnāhā[We] have made it
فِتْنَةًۭfit'natana trial
لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَlilẓẓālimīnafor the wrongdoers

Translation

Indeed, We [We] have made it a trial for the wrongdoers

Verse 64

إِنَّهَاinnahāIndeed, it
شَجَرَةٌۭshajaratun(is) a tree
تَخْرُجُtakhrujuthat grows
فِىٓfīin
أَصْلِaṣli(the) bottom
ٱلْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmi(of) the Hellfire

Translation

Indeed, it (is) a tree that grows in (the) bottom (of) the Hellfire

Verse 65

طَلْعُهَاṭalʿuhāIts emerging fruit
كَأَنَّهُۥka-annahu(is) as if it
رُءُوسُruūsu(was) heads
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِl-shayāṭīni(of) the devils

Translation

Its emerging fruit (is) as if it (was) heads (of) the devils

Verse 66

فَإِنَّهُمْfa-innahumAnd indeed, they
لَـَٔاكِلُونَlaākilūna(will) surely eat
مِنْهَاmin'hāfrom it
فَمَالِـُٔونَfamāliūnaand fill
مِنْهَاmin'hāwith it
ٱلْبُطُونَl-buṭūna(their) bellies

Translation

And indeed, they (will) surely eat from it and fill with it (their) bellies

Verse 67

ثُمَّthummaThen
إِنَّinnaindeed
لَهُمْlahumfor them
عَلَيْهَاʿalayhāin it
لَشَوْبًۭاlashawban(is) a mixture
مِّنْminof
حَمِيمٍۢḥamīminboiling water

Translation

Then indeed for them in it (is) a mixture of boiling water

Verse 68

ثُمَّthummaThen
إِنَّinnaindeed
مَرْجِعَهُمْmarjiʿahumtheir return
لَإِلَىla-ilā(will) surely be to
ٱلْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmithe Hellfire

Translation

Then indeed their return (will) surely be to the Hellfire

Verse 69

إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, they
أَلْفَوْا۟alfawfound
ءَابَآءَهُمْābāahumtheir fathers
ضَآلِّينَḍāllīnaastray

Translation

Indeed, they found their fathers astray

Verse 70

فَهُمْfahumSo they
عَلَىٰٓʿalāon
ءَاثَـٰرِهِمْāthārihimtheir footsteps
يُهْرَعُونَyuh'raʿūnathey hastened

Translation

So they on their footsteps they hastened

Verse 71

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
ضَلَّḍallawent astray
قَبْلَهُمْqablahumbefore them
أَكْثَرُaktharumost
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna(of) the former (people)

Translation

And verily went astray before them most (of) the former (people)

Verse 72

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sent
فِيهِمfīhimamong them
مُّنذِرِينَmundhirīnawarners

Translation

And verily We sent among them warners

Verse 73

فَٱنظُرْfa-unẓurThen see
كَيْفَkayfahow
كَانَkānawas
عَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) end
ٱلْمُنذَرِينَl-mundharīna(of) those who were warned

Translation

Then see how was (the) end (of) those who were warned

Verse 74

إِلَّاillāExcept
عِبَادَʿibāda(the) slaves
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَl-mukh'laṣīnathe chosen ones

Translation

Except (the) slaves (of) Allah the chosen ones

Verse 75

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
نَادَىٰنَاnādānācalled Us
نُوحٌۭnūḥunNuh
فَلَنِعْمَfalaniʿ'maand Best
ٱلْمُجِيبُونَl-mujībūna(are We as) Responders

Translation

And verily called Us Nuh and Best (are We as) Responders

Verse 76

وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُwanajjaynāhuAnd We saved him
وَأَهْلَهُۥwa-ahlahuand his family
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْكَرْبِl-karbithe distress
ٱلْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe great

Translation

And We saved him and his family from the distress the great

Verse 77

وَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāAnd We made
ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥdhurriyyatahuhis offspring
هُمُhumu[they]
ٱلْبَاقِينَl-bāqīnathe survivors

Translation

And We made his offspring [they] the survivors

Verse 78

وَتَرَكْنَاwataraknāAnd We left
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor him
فِىfīamong
ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَl-ākhirīnathe later generations

Translation

And We left for him among the later generations

Verse 79

سَلَـٰمٌsalāmunPeace be
عَلَىٰʿalāupon
نُوحٍۢnūḥinNuh
فِىfīamong
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds

Translation

Peace be upon Nuh among the worlds

Verse 80

إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikathus
نَجْزِىnajzī[We] reward
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers

Translation

Indeed, We thus [We] reward the good-doers

Verse 81

إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
مِنْmin(was) of
عِبَادِنَاʿibādināOur slaves
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnabelieving

Translation

Indeed, he (was) of Our slaves believing

Verse 82

ثُمَّthummaThen
أَغْرَقْنَاaghraqnāWe drowned
ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَl-ākharīnathe others

Translation

Then We drowned the others

Verse 83

۞ وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
مِنminamong
شِيعَتِهِۦshīʿatihihis kind
لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَla-ib'rāhīma(was) surely Ibrahim

Translation

And indeed among his kind (was) surely Ibrahim

Verse 84

إِذْidhWhen
جَآءَjāahe came
رَبَّهُۥrabbahu(to) his Lord
بِقَلْبٍۢbiqalbinwith a heart
سَلِيمٍsalīminsound

Translation

When he came (to) his Lord with a heart sound

Verse 85

إِذْidhWhen
قَالَqālahe said
لِأَبِيهِli-abīhito his father
وَقَوْمِهِۦwaqawmihiand his people
مَاذَاmādhāWhat is it
تَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūnayou worship

Translation

When he said to his father and his people What is it you worship

Verse 86

أَئِفْكًاa-if'kanIs it falsehood
ءَالِهَةًۭālihatangods
دُونَdūnaother than
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
تُرِيدُونَturīdūna(that) you desire

Translation

Is it falsehood gods other than Allah (that) you desire

Verse 87

فَمَاfamāThen what
ظَنُّكُمẓannukum(do) you think
بِرَبِّbirabbiabout (the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

Then what (do) you think about (the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 88

فَنَظَرَfanaẓaraThen he glanced
نَظْرَةًۭnaẓratana glance
فِىfīat
ٱلنُّجُومِl-nujūmithe stars

Translation

Then he glanced a glance at the stars

Verse 89

فَقَالَfaqālaAnd he said
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
سَقِيمٌۭsaqīmunsick

Translation

And he said Indeed, I am sick

Verse 90

فَتَوَلَّوْا۟fatawallawSo they turned away
عَنْهُʿanhufrom him
مُدْبِرِينَmud'birīnadeparting

Translation

So they turned away from him departing

Verse 91

فَرَاغَfarāghaThen he turned
إِلَىٰٓilāto
ءَالِهَتِهِمْālihatihimtheir gods
فَقَالَfaqālaand said
أَلَاalāDo not
تَأْكُلُونَtakulūnayou eat

Translation

Then he turned to their gods and said Do not you eat

Verse 92

مَاmāWhat (is)
لَكُمْlakumfor you
لَاlānot
تَنطِقُونَtanṭiqūnayou speak

Translation

What (is) for you not you speak

Verse 93

فَرَاغَfarāghaThen he turned
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon them
ضَرْبًۢاḍarbanstriking
بِٱلْيَمِينِbil-yamīniwith the right hand

Translation

Then he turned upon them striking with the right hand

Verse 94

فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟fa-aqbalūThen they advanced
إِلَيْهِilayhitowards him
يَزِفُّونَyaziffūnahastening

Translation

Then they advanced towards him hastening

Verse 95

قَالَqālaHe said
أَتَعْبُدُونَataʿbudūnaDo you worship
مَاmāwhat
تَنْحِتُونَtanḥitūnayou carve

Translation

He said Do you worship what you carve

Verse 96

وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuWhile Allah
خَلَقَكُمْkhalaqakumcreated you
وَمَاwamāand what
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou make

Translation

While Allah created you and what you make

Verse 97

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
ٱبْنُوا۟ib'nūBuild
لَهُۥlahufor him
بُنْيَـٰنًۭاbun'yānana structure
فَأَلْقُوهُfa-alqūhuand throw him
فِىfīinto
ٱلْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmithe blazing Fire

Translation

They said Build for him a structure and throw him into the blazing Fire

Verse 98

فَأَرَادُوا۟fa-arādūAnd they intended
بِهِۦbihifor him
كَيْدًۭاkaydana plot
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُfajaʿalnāhumubut We made them
ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَl-asfalīnathe lowest

Translation

And they intended for him a plot but We made them the lowest

Verse 99

وَقَالَwaqālaAnd he said
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
ذَاهِبٌdhāhibungoing
إِلَىٰilāto
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
سَيَهْدِينِsayahdīniHe will guide me

Translation

And he said Indeed, I am going to my Lord He will guide me

Verse 100

رَبِّrabbiMy Lord
هَبْhabgrant
لِىlīme
مِنَminaof
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous

Translation

My Lord grant me of the righteous

Verse 101

فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُfabasharnāhuSo We gave him the glad tidings
بِغُلَـٰمٍbighulāminof a boy
حَلِيمٍۢḥalīminforbearing

Translation

So We gave him the glad tidings of a boy forbearing

Verse 102

فَلَمَّاfalammāThen when
بَلَغَbalaghahe reached
مَعَهُmaʿahuthe (age of) working with him
ٱلسَّعْىَl-saʿyathe (age of) working with him
قَالَqālahe said
يَـٰبُنَىَّyābunayyaO my son
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أَرَىٰarāhave seen
فِىfīin
ٱلْمَنَامِl-manāmithe dream
أَنِّىٓannīthat I am
أَذْبَحُكَadhbaḥukasacrificing you
فَٱنظُرْfa-unẓurso look
مَاذَاmādhāwhat
تَرَىٰ ۚtarāyou see
قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰٓأَبَتِyāabatiO my father
ٱفْعَلْif'ʿalDo
مَاmāwhat
تُؤْمَرُ ۖtu'maruyou are commanded
سَتَجِدُنِىٓsatajidunīYou will find me
إِنinif
شَآءَshāaAllah wills
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah wills
مِنَminaof
ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَl-ṣābirīnathe patient ones

Translation

Then when he reached the (age of) working with him the (age of) working with him he said O my son Indeed, I have seen in the dream that I am sacrificing you so look what you see He said O my father Do what you are commanded You will find me if Allah wills Allah wills of the patient ones

Verse 103

فَلَمَّآfalammāThen when
أَسْلَمَاaslamāboth of them had submitted
وَتَلَّهُۥwatallahuand he put him down
لِلْجَبِينِlil'jabīniupon his forehead

Translation

Then when both of them had submitted and he put him down upon his forehead

Verse 104

وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُwanādaynāhuAnd We called out to him
أَنanthat
يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُyāib'rāhīmuO Ibrahim

Translation

And We called out to him that O Ibrahim

Verse 105

قَدْqadVerily
صَدَّقْتَṣaddaqtayou have fulfilled
ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚl-ru'yāthe vision
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikathus
نَجْزِىnajzī[We] reward
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers

Translation

Verily you have fulfilled the vision Indeed, We thus [We] reward the good-doers

Verse 106

إِنَّinnaIndeed
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
لَهُوَlahuwa(was) surely [it]
ٱلْبَلَـٰٓؤُا۟l-balāuthe trial
ٱلْمُبِينُl-mubīnuclear

Translation

Indeed this (was) surely [it] the trial clear

Verse 107

وَفَدَيْنَـٰهُwafadaynāhuAnd We ransomed him
بِذِبْحٍbidhib'ḥinwith a sacrifice
عَظِيمٍۢʿaẓīmingreat

Translation

And We ransomed him with a sacrifice great

Verse 108

وَتَرَكْنَاwataraknāAnd We left
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor him
فِىfīamong
ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَl-ākhirīnathe later generations

Translation

And We left for him among the later generations

Verse 109

سَلَـٰمٌsalāmunPeace be
عَلَىٰٓʿalāon
إِبْرَٰهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahim

Translation

Peace be on Ibrahim

Verse 110

كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
نَجْزِىnajzīWe reward
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers

Translation

Thus We reward the good-doers

Verse 111

إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he (was)
مِنْminof
عِبَادِنَاʿibādināOur slaves
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnabelieving

Translation

Indeed, he (was) of Our slaves believing

Verse 112

وَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُwabasharnāhuAnd We gave him glad tidings
بِإِسْحَـٰقَbi-is'ḥāqaof Isaac
نَبِيًّۭاnabiyyana Prophet
مِّنَminaamong
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous

Translation

And We gave him glad tidings of Isaac a Prophet among the righteous

Verse 113

وَبَـٰرَكْنَاwabāraknāAnd We blessed
عَلَيْهِʿalayhihim
وَعَلَىٰٓwaʿalāand [on]
إِسْحَـٰقَ ۚis'ḥāqaIsaac
وَمِنwaminAnd of
ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَاdhurriyyatihimātheir offspring
مُحْسِنٌۭmuḥ'sinun(are) good-doers
وَظَالِمٌۭwaẓālimunand unjust
لِّنَفْسِهِۦlinafsihito himself
مُبِينٌۭmubīnunclear

Translation

And We blessed him and [on] Isaac And of their offspring (are) good-doers and unjust to himself clear

Verse 114

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
مَنَنَّاmanannāWe conferred Favor
عَلَىٰʿalāupon
مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa
وَهَـٰرُونَwahārūnaand Harun

Translation

And verily We conferred Favor upon Musa and Harun

Verse 115

وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمَاwanajjaynāhumāAnd We saved both of them
وَقَوْمَهُمَاwaqawmahumāand their people
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْكَرْبِl-karbithe distress
ٱلْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe great

Translation

And We saved both of them and their people from the distress the great

Verse 116

وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُمْwanaṣarnāhumAnd We helped them
فَكَانُوا۟fakānūso they became
هُمُhumuso they became
ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَl-ghālibīnathe victors

Translation

And We helped them so they became so they became the victors

Verse 117

وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمَاwaātaynāhumāAnd We gave both of them
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَl-mus'tabīnathe clear

Translation

And We gave both of them the Book the clear

Verse 118

وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمَاwahadaynāhumāAnd We guided both of them
ٱلصِّرَٰطَl-ṣirāṭa(to) the Path
ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَl-mus'taqīmathe Straight

Translation

And We guided both of them (to) the Path the Straight

Verse 119

وَتَرَكْنَاwataraknāAnd We left
عَلَيْهِمَاʿalayhimāfor both of them
فِىfīamong
ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَl-ākhirīnathe later generations

Translation

And We left for both of them among the later generations

Verse 120

سَلَـٰمٌsalāmunPeace be
عَلَىٰʿalāupon
مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa
وَهَـٰرُونَwahārūnaand Harun

Translation

Peace be upon Musa and Harun

Verse 121

إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikathus
نَجْزِىnajzīreward
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers

Translation

Indeed, We thus reward the good-doers

Verse 122

إِنَّهُمَاinnahumāIndeed, both of them
مِنْmin(were) of
عِبَادِنَاʿibādināOur slaves
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnabelieving

Translation

Indeed, both of them (were) of Our slaves believing

Verse 123

وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
إِلْيَاسَil'yāsaElijah
لَمِنَlamina(was) surely of
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Translation

And indeed Elijah (was) surely of the Messengers

Verse 124

إِذْidhWhen
قَالَqālahe said
لِقَوْمِهِۦٓliqawmihito his people
أَلَاalāWill not
تَتَّقُونَtattaqūnayou fear

Translation

When he said to his people Will not you fear

Verse 125

أَتَدْعُونَatadʿūnaDo you call
بَعْلًۭاbaʿlanBaal
وَتَذَرُونَwatadharūnaand you forsake
أَحْسَنَaḥsana(the) Best
ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَl-khāliqīna(of) Creators

Translation

Do you call Baal and you forsake (the) Best (of) Creators

Verse 126

ٱللَّهَal-lahaAllah
رَبَّكُمْrabbakumyour Lord
وَرَبَّwarabbaand (the) Lord
ءَابَآئِكُمُābāikumu(of) your forefathers
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna(of) your forefathers

Translation

Allah your Lord and (the) Lord (of) your forefathers (of) your forefathers

Verse 127

فَكَذَّبُوهُfakadhabūhuBut they denied him
فَإِنَّهُمْfa-innahumso indeed, they
لَمُحْضَرُونَlamuḥ'ḍarūna(will) surely be brought

Translation

But they denied him so indeed, they (will) surely be brought

Verse 128

إِلَّاillāExcept
عِبَادَʿibāda(the) slaves
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَl-mukh'laṣīnathe chosen ones

Translation

Except (the) slaves (of) Allah the chosen ones

Verse 129

وَتَرَكْنَاwataraknāAnd We left
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor him
فِىfīamong
ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَl-ākhirīnathe later generations

Translation

And We left for him among the later generations

Verse 130

سَلَـٰمٌsalāmunPeace be
عَلَىٰٓʿalāupon
إِلْ يَاسِينَil yāsīnaElijah

Translation

Peace be upon Elijah

Verse 131

إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikathus
نَجْزِىnajzīreward
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers

Translation

Indeed, We thus reward the good-doers

Verse 132

إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he (was)
مِنْminof
عِبَادِنَاʿibādināOur slaves
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnabelieving

Translation

Indeed, he (was) of Our slaves believing

Verse 133

وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
لُوطًۭاlūṭanLut
لَّمِنَlamina(was) of
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Translation

And indeed Lut (was) of the Messengers

Verse 134

إِذْidhWhen
نَجَّيْنَـٰهُnajjaynāhuWe saved him
وَأَهْلَهُۥٓwa-ahlahuand his family
أَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall

Translation

When We saved him and his family all

Verse 135

إِلَّاillāExcept
عَجُوزًۭاʿajūzanan old woman
فِىfī(was) among
ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَl-ghābirīnathose who remained behind

Translation

Except an old woman (was) among those who remained behind

Verse 136

ثُمَّthummaThen
دَمَّرْنَاdammarnāWe destroyed
ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَl-ākharīnathe others

Translation

Then We destroyed the others

Verse 137

وَإِنَّكُمْwa-innakumAnd indeed, you
لَتَمُرُّونَlatamurrūnasurely pass
عَلَيْهِمʿalayhimby them
مُّصْبِحِينَmuṣ'biḥīna(in the) morning

Translation

And indeed, you surely pass by them (in the) morning

Verse 138

وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗwabi-al-layliAnd at night
أَفَلَاafalāThen will not
تَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnayou use reason

Translation

And at night Then will not you use reason

Verse 139

وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
يُونُسَyūnusaYunus
لَمِنَlamina(was) surely of
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Translation

And indeed Yunus (was) surely of the Messengers

Verse 140

إِذْidhWhen
أَبَقَabaqahe ran away
إِلَىilāto
ٱلْفُلْكِl-ful'kithe ship
ٱلْمَشْحُونِl-mashḥūniladen

Translation

When he ran away to the ship laden

Verse 141

فَسَاهَمَfasāhamaThen he drew lots
فَكَانَfakānaand was
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَl-mud'ḥaḍīnathe losers

Translation

Then he drew lots and was of the losers

Verse 142

فَٱلْتَقَمَهُfal-taqamahuThen swallowed him
ٱلْحُوتُl-ḥūtuthe fish
وَهُوَwahuwawhile he
مُلِيمٌۭmulīmun(was) blameworthy

Translation

Then swallowed him the fish while he (was) blameworthy

Verse 143

فَلَوْلَآfalawlāAnd if not
أَنَّهُۥannahuthat he
كَانَkānawas
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَl-musabiḥīnathose who glorify

Translation

And if not that he was of those who glorify

Verse 144

لَلَبِثَlalabithaCertainly, he (would have) remained
فِىfīin
بَطْنِهِۦٓbaṭnihiits belly
إِلَىٰilāuntil
يَوْمِyawmithe Day
يُبْعَثُونَyub'ʿathūnathey are resurrected

Translation

Certainly, he (would have) remained in its belly until the Day they are resurrected

Verse 145

۞ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُfanabadhnāhuBut We cast him
بِٱلْعَرَآءِbil-ʿarāionto the open shore
وَهُوَwahuwawhile he
سَقِيمٌۭsaqīmun(was) ill

Translation

But We cast him onto the open shore while he (was) ill

Verse 146

وَأَنۢبَتْنَاwa-anbatnāAnd We caused to grow
عَلَيْهِʿalayhiover him
شَجَرَةًۭshajaratana plant
مِّنminof
يَقْطِينٍۢyaqṭīningourd

Translation

And We caused to grow over him a plant of gourd

Verse 147

وَأَرْسَلْنَـٰهُwa-arsalnāhuAnd We sent him
إِلَىٰilāto
مِا۟ئَةِmi-atia hundred
أَلْفٍalfinthousand
أَوْawor
يَزِيدُونَyazīdūnamore

Translation

And We sent him to a hundred thousand or more

Verse 148

فَـَٔامَنُوا۟faāmanūAnd they believed
فَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْfamattaʿnāhumso We gave them enjoyment
إِلَىٰilāfor
حِينٍۢḥīnina while

Translation

And they believed so We gave them enjoyment for a while

Verse 149

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْfa-is'taftihimThen ask them
أَلِرَبِّكَalirabbikaDoes your Lord
ٱلْبَنَاتُl-banātu(have) daughters
وَلَهُمُwalahumuwhile for them
ٱلْبَنُونَl-banūna(are) sons

Translation

Then ask them Does your Lord (have) daughters while for them (are) sons

Verse 150

أَمْamOr
خَلَقْنَاkhalaqnādid We create
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَl-malāikatathe Angels
إِنَـٰثًۭاināthanfemales
وَهُمْwahumwhile they
شَـٰهِدُونَshāhidūna(were) witnesses

Translation

Or did We create the Angels females while they (were) witnesses

Verse 151

أَلَآalāNo doubt
إِنَّهُمinnahumindeed, they
مِّنْminof
إِفْكِهِمْif'kihimtheir falsehood
لَيَقُولُونَlayaqūlūna[they] say

Translation

No doubt indeed, they of their falsehood [they] say

Verse 152

وَلَدَwaladaAllah has begotten
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has begotten
وَإِنَّهُمْwa-innahumand indeed, they
لَكَـٰذِبُونَlakādhibūnasurely (are) liars

Translation

Allah has begotten Allah has begotten and indeed, they surely (are) liars

Verse 153

أَصْطَفَىaṣṭafāHas He chosen
ٱلْبَنَاتِl-banāti[the] daughters
عَلَىʿalāover
ٱلْبَنِينَl-banīnasons

Translation

Has He chosen [the] daughters over sons

Verse 154

مَاmāWhat is with you
لَكُمْlakumWhat is with you
كَيْفَkayfaHow
تَحْكُمُونَtaḥkumūnayou judge

Translation

What is with you What is with you How you judge

Verse 155

أَفَلَاafalāThen will not
تَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnayou pay heed

Translation

Then will not you pay heed

Verse 156

أَمْamOr
لَكُمْlakum(is) for you
سُلْطَـٰنٌۭsul'ṭānunan authority
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclear

Translation

Or (is) for you an authority clear

Verse 157

فَأْتُوا۟fatūThen bring
بِكِتَـٰبِكُمْbikitābikumyour book
إِنinif
كُنتُمْkuntumyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful

Translation

Then bring your book if you are truthful

Verse 158

وَجَعَلُوا۟wajaʿalūAnd they have made
بَيْنَهُۥbaynahubetween Him
وَبَيْنَwabaynaand between
ٱلْجِنَّةِl-jinatithe jinn
نَسَبًۭا ۚnasabana relationship
وَلَقَدْwalaqadbut certainly
عَلِمَتِʿalimatiknow
ٱلْجِنَّةُl-jinatuthe jinn
إِنَّهُمْinnahumthat they
لَمُحْضَرُونَlamuḥ'ḍarūna(will) surely be brought

Translation

And they have made between Him and between the jinn a relationship but certainly know the jinn that they (will) surely be brought

Verse 159

سُبْحَـٰنَsub'ḥānaGlory be
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(to) Allah
عَمَّاʿammāabove what
يَصِفُونَyaṣifūnathey attribute

Translation

Glory be (to) Allah above what they attribute

Verse 160

إِلَّاillāExcept
عِبَادَʿibāda(the) slaves
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَl-mukh'laṣīnathe chosen

Translation

Except (the) slaves (of) Allah the chosen

Verse 161

فَإِنَّكُمْfa-innakumSo indeed, you
وَمَاwamāand what
تَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūnayou worship

Translation

So indeed, you and what you worship

Verse 162

مَآmāNot
أَنتُمْantumyou
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifrom Him
بِفَـٰتِنِينَbifātinīnacan tempt away (anyone)

Translation

Not you from Him can tempt away (anyone)

Verse 163

إِلَّاillāExcept
مَنْmanwho
هُوَhuwahe
صَالِṣāli(is) to burn
ٱلْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmi(in) the Hellfire

Translation

Except who he (is) to burn (in) the Hellfire

Verse 164

وَمَاwamāAnd not
مِنَّآminnāamong us
إِلَّاillāexcept
لَهُۥlahufor him
مَقَامٌۭmaqāmun(is) a position
مَّعْلُومٌۭmaʿlūmunknown

Translation

And not among us except for him (is) a position known

Verse 165

وَإِنَّاwa-innāAnd indeed, we
لَنَحْنُlanaḥnusurely, [we]
ٱلصَّآفُّونَl-ṣāfūnastand in rows

Translation

And indeed, we surely, [we] stand in rows

Verse 166

وَإِنَّاwa-innāAnd indeed, we
لَنَحْنُlanaḥnusurely, [we]
ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَl-musabiḥūnaglorify (Allah)

Translation

And indeed, we surely, [we] glorify (Allah)

Verse 167

وَإِنwa-inAnd indeed
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
لَيَقُولُونَlayaqūlūnasay

Translation

And indeed they used to say

Verse 168

لَوْlawIf
أَنَّannathat
عِندَنَاʿindanāwe had
ذِكْرًۭاdhik'rana reminder
مِّنَminafrom
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe former (people)

Translation

If that we had a reminder from the former (people)

Verse 169

لَكُنَّاlakunnāCertainly, we (would) have been
عِبَادَʿibādaslaves
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَl-mukh'laṣīnathe chosen

Translation

Certainly, we (would) have been slaves (of) Allah the chosen

Verse 170

فَكَفَرُوا۟fakafarūBut they disbelieved
بِهِۦ ۖbihiin it
فَسَوْفَfasawfaso soon
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnathey will know

Translation

But they disbelieved in it so soon they will know

Verse 171

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
سَبَقَتْsabaqathas preceded
كَلِمَتُنَاkalimatunāOur Word
لِعِبَادِنَاliʿibādināfor Our slaves
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Translation

And verily has preceded Our Word for Our slaves the Messengers

Verse 172

إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed they
لَهُمُlahumusurely they
ٱلْمَنصُورُونَl-manṣūrūna(would be) the victorious

Translation

Indeed they surely they (would be) the victorious

Verse 173

وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
جُندَنَاjundanāOur host
لَهُمُlahumusurely, they
ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَl-ghālibūna(will be) those who overcome

Translation

And indeed Our host surely, they (will be) those who overcome

Verse 174

فَتَوَلَّfatawallaSo turn away
عَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom them
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
حِينٍۢḥīnina time

Translation

So turn away from them until a time

Verse 175

وَأَبْصِرْهُمْwa-abṣir'humAnd see them
فَسَوْفَfasawfaso soon
يُبْصِرُونَyub'ṣirūnathey will see

Translation

And see them so soon they will see

Verse 176

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَاafabiʿadhābināThen is (it) for Our punishment
يَسْتَعْجِلُونَyastaʿjilūnathey hasten

Translation

Then is (it) for Our punishment they hasten

Verse 177

فَإِذَاfa-idhāBut when
نَزَلَnazalait descends
بِسَاحَتِهِمْbisāḥatihimin their territory
فَسَآءَfasāathen evil (will be)
صَبَاحُṣabāḥu(the) morning
ٱلْمُنذَرِينَl-mundharīna(for) those who were warned

Translation

But when it descends in their territory then evil (will be) (the) morning (for) those who were warned

Verse 178

وَتَوَلَّwatawallaSo turn away
عَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom them
حَتَّىٰḥattāfor
حِينٍۢḥīnina time

Translation

So turn away from them for a time

Verse 179

وَأَبْصِرْwa-abṣirAnd see
فَسَوْفَfasawfaso soon
يُبْصِرُونَyub'ṣirūnathey will see

Translation

And see so soon they will see

Verse 180

سُبْحَـٰنَsub'ḥānaGlory
رَبِّكَrabbika(be to) your Lord
رَبِّrabbi(the) Lord
ٱلْعِزَّةِl-ʿizati(of) Honor
عَمَّاʿammāabove what
يَصِفُونَyaṣifūnathey attribute

Translation

Glory (be to) your Lord (the) Lord (of) Honor above what they attribute

Verse 181

وَسَلَـٰمٌwasalāmunAnd peace be
عَلَىʿalāupon
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Translation

And peace be upon the Messengers

Verse 182

وَٱلْحَمْدُwal-ḥamduAnd all praise
لِلَّهِlillahi(be) to Allah
رَبِّrabbi(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

And all praise (be) to Allah (the) Lord (of) the worlds
