Verse 1

حمٓhha-meemHa Meem

Translation

Ha Meem

Verse 2

تَنزِيلُtanzīlu(The) revelation
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
مِنَmina(is) from
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
ٱلْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzithe All-Mighty
ٱلْعَلِيمِl-ʿalīmithe All-Knower

Translation

(The) revelation (of) the Book (is) from Allah the All-Mighty the All-Knower

Verse 3

غَافِرِghāfiri(The) Forgiver
ٱلذَّنۢبِl-dhanbi(of) the sin
وَقَابِلِwaqābiliand (the) Acceptor
ٱلتَّوْبِl-tawbi(of) [the] repentance
شَدِيدِshadīdisevere
ٱلْعِقَابِl-ʿiqābi(in) the punishment
ذِىdhīOwner (of) the abundance
ٱلطَّوْلِ ۖl-ṭawliOwner (of) the abundance
لَآlā(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّاillāexcept
هُوَ ۖhuwaHim
إِلَيْهِilayhito Him
ٱلْمَصِيرُl-maṣīru(is) the final return

Translation

(The) Forgiver (of) the sin and (the) Acceptor (of) [the] repentance severe (in) the punishment Owner (of) the abundance Owner (of) the abundance (There is) no god except Him to Him (is) the final return

Verse 4

مَاmāNot
يُجَـٰدِلُyujādiludispute
فِىٓfīconcerning
ءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Verses
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieve
فَلَاfalāso (let) not
يَغْرُرْكَyaghrur'kadeceive you
تَقَلُّبُهُمْtaqallubuhumtheir movement
فِىfīin
ٱلْبِلَـٰدِl-bilādithe cities

Translation

Not dispute concerning (the) Verses (of) Allah except those who disbelieve so (let) not deceive you their movement in the cities

Verse 5

كَذَّبَتْkadhabatDenied
قَبْلَهُمْqablahumbefore them
قَوْمُqawmu(the) people
نُوحٍۢnūḥin(of) Nuh
وَٱلْأَحْزَابُwal-aḥzābuand the factions
مِنۢminafter them
بَعْدِهِمْ ۖbaʿdihimafter them
وَهَمَّتْwahammatand plotted
كُلُّkulluevery
أُمَّةٍۭummatinnation
بِرَسُولِهِمْbirasūlihimagainst their Messenger
لِيَأْخُذُوهُ ۖliyakhudhūhuto seize him
وَجَـٰدَلُوا۟wajādalūand they disputed
بِٱلْبَـٰطِلِbil-bāṭiliby falsehood
لِيُدْحِضُوا۟liyud'ḥiḍūto refute
بِهِbihithereby
ٱلْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truth
فَأَخَذْتُهُمْ ۖfa-akhadhtuhumSo I seized them
فَكَيْفَfakayfaThen how
كَانَkānawas
عِقَابِʿiqābiMy penalty

Translation

Denied before them (the) people (of) Nuh and the factions after them after them and plotted every nation against their Messenger to seize him and they disputed by falsehood to refute thereby the truth So I seized them Then how was My penalty

Verse 6

وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
حَقَّتْḥaqqathas been justified
كَلِمَتُkalimatu(the) Word
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوٓا۟kafarūdisbelieved
أَنَّهُمْannahumthat they
أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(are) companions
ٱلنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fire

Translation

And thus has been justified (the) Word (of) your Lord against those who disbelieved that they (are) companions (of) the Fire

Verse 7

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
يَحْمِلُونَyaḥmilūnabear
ٱلْعَرْشَl-ʿarshathe Throne
وَمَنْwamanand who
حَوْلَهُۥḥawlahu(are) around it
يُسَبِّحُونَyusabbiḥūnaglorify
بِحَمْدِbiḥamdi(the) praises
رَبِّهِمْrabbihim(of) their Lord
وَيُؤْمِنُونَwayu'minūnaand believe
بِهِۦbihiin Him
وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَwayastaghfirūnaand ask forgiveness
لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord
وَسِعْتَwasiʿ'taYou encompass
كُلَّkullaall
شَىْءٍۢshayinthings
رَّحْمَةًۭraḥmatan(by Your) Mercy
وَعِلْمًۭاwaʿil'manand knowledge
فَٱغْفِرْfa-igh'firso forgive
لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnathose who
تَابُوا۟tābūrepent
وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟wa-ittabaʿūand follow
سَبِيلَكَsabīlakaYour Way
وَقِهِمْwaqihimand save them (from)
عَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishment
ٱلْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmi(of) the Hellfire

Translation

Those who bear the Throne and who (are) around it glorify (the) praises (of) their Lord and believe in Him and ask forgiveness for those who believe Our Lord You encompass all things (by Your) Mercy and knowledge so forgive those who repent and follow Your Way and save them (from) (the) punishment (of) the Hellfire

Verse 8

رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord
وَأَدْخِلْهُمْwa-adkhil'humAnd admit them
جَنَّـٰتِjannāti(to) Gardens
عَدْنٍʿadnin(of) Eden
ٱلَّتِىallatīwhich
وَعَدتَّهُمْwaʿadttahumYou have promised them
وَمَنwamanand whoever
صَلَحَṣalaḥa(was) righteous
مِنْminamong
ءَابَآئِهِمْābāihimtheir fathers
وَأَزْوَٰجِهِمْwa-azwājihimand their spouses
وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِهِمْ ۚwadhurriyyātihimand their offspring
إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed You
أَنتَantaYou
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(are) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise

Translation

Our Lord And admit them (to) Gardens (of) Eden which You have promised them and whoever (was) righteous among their fathers and their spouses and their offspring Indeed You You (are) the All-Mighty the All-Wise

Verse 9

وَقِهِمُwaqihimuAnd protect them
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ ۚl-sayiāti(from) the evils
وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
تَقِtaqiyou protect
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِl-sayiāti(from) the evils
يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhinthat Day
فَقَدْfaqadthen verily
رَحِمْتَهُۥ ۚraḥim'tahuYou have bestowed mercy on him
وَذَٰلِكَwadhālikaAnd that
هُوَhuwa[it]
ٱلْفَوْزُl-fawzu(is) the success
ٱلْعَظِيمُl-ʿaẓīmuthe great

Translation

And protect them (from) the evils And whoever you protect (from) the evils that Day then verily You have bestowed mercy on him And that [it] (is) the success the great

Verse 10

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieved
يُنَادَوْنَyunādawnawill be cried out to them
لَمَقْتُlamaqtuCertainly Allah's hatred
ٱللَّهِl-lahiCertainly Allah's hatred
أَكْبَرُakbaru(was) greater
مِنminthan
مَّقْتِكُمْmaqtikumyour hatred
أَنفُسَكُمْanfusakum(of) yourselves
إِذْidhwhen
تُدْعَوْنَtud'ʿawnayou were called
إِلَىilāto
ٱلْإِيمَـٰنِl-īmānithe faith
فَتَكْفُرُونَfatakfurūnaand you disbelieved

Translation

Indeed those who disbelieved will be cried out to them Certainly Allah's hatred Certainly Allah's hatred (was) greater than your hatred (of) yourselves when you were called to the faith and you disbelieved

Verse 11

قَالُوا۟qālūThey (will) say
رَبَّنَآrabbanāOur Lord
أَمَتَّنَاamattanāYou gave us death
ٱثْنَتَيْنِith'nataynitwice
وَأَحْيَيْتَنَاwa-aḥyaytanāand You gave us life
ٱثْنَتَيْنِith'nataynitwice
فَٱعْتَرَفْنَاfa-iʿ'tarafnāand we confess
بِذُنُوبِنَاbidhunūbināour sins
فَهَلْfahalSo is (there)
إِلَىٰilāto
خُرُوجٍۢkhurūjinget out
مِّنminany
سَبِيلٍۢsabīlinway

Translation

They (will) say Our Lord You gave us death twice and You gave us life twice and we confess our sins So is (there) to get out any way

Verse 12

ذَٰلِكُمdhālikumThat
بِأَنَّهُۥٓbi-annahu(is) because
إِذَاidhāwhen
دُعِىَduʿiyaAllah was invoked
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah was invoked
وَحْدَهُۥwaḥdahuAlone
كَفَرْتُمْ ۖkafartumyou disbelieved
وَإِنwa-inbut if
يُشْرَكْyush'rak(others) were associated
بِهِۦbihiwith Him
تُؤْمِنُوا۟ ۚtu'minūyou believed
فَٱلْحُكْمُfal-ḥuk'muSo the judgment
لِلَّهِlillahi(is) with Allah
ٱلْعَلِىِّl-ʿaliyithe Most High
ٱلْكَبِيرِl-kabīrithe Most Great

Translation

That (is) because when Allah was invoked Allah was invoked Alone you disbelieved but if (others) were associated with Him you believed So the judgment (is) with Allah the Most High the Most Great

Verse 13

هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
يُرِيكُمْyurīkumshows you
ءَايَـٰتِهِۦāyātihiHis Signs
وَيُنَزِّلُwayunazziluand sends down
لَكُمlakumfor you
مِّنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
رِزْقًۭا ۚriz'qanprovision
وَمَاwamāBut (does) not
يَتَذَكَّرُyatadhakkarutake heed
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَنman(one) who
يُنِيبُyunībuturns

Translation

He (is) the One Who shows you His Signs and sends down for you from the sky provision But (does) not take heed except (one) who turns

Verse 14

فَٱدْعُوا۟fa-id'ʿūSo invoke
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
مُخْلِصِينَmukh'liṣīna(being) sincere
لَهُlahuto Him
ٱلدِّينَl-dīna(in) the religion
وَلَوْwalaweven though
كَرِهَkarihadislike (it)
ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَl-kāfirūnathe disbelievers

Translation

So invoke Allah (being) sincere to Him (in) the religion even though dislike (it) the disbelievers

Verse 15

رَفِيعُrafīʿuPossessor of the Highest Ranks
ٱلدَّرَجَـٰتِl-darajātiPossessor of the Highest Ranks
ذُوdhūOwner (of) the Throne
ٱلْعَرْشِl-ʿarshiOwner (of) the Throne
يُلْقِىyul'qīHe places
ٱلرُّوحَl-rūḥathe inspiration
مِنْminof
أَمْرِهِۦamrihiHis Command
عَلَىٰʿalāupon
مَنmanwhom
يَشَآءُyashāuHe wills
مِنْminof
عِبَادِهِۦʿibādihiHis slaves
لِيُنذِرَliyundhirato warn
يَوْمَyawma(of the) Day
ٱلتَّلَاقِl-talāqi(of) the Meeting

Translation

Possessor of the Highest Ranks Possessor of the Highest Ranks Owner (of) the Throne Owner (of) the Throne He places the inspiration of His Command upon whom He wills of His slaves to warn (of the) Day (of) the Meeting

Verse 16

يَوْمَyawma(The) Day
هُمhumthey
بَـٰرِزُونَ ۖbārizūnacome forth
لَاlānot
يَخْفَىٰyakhfāis hidden
عَلَىʿalāfrom
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
مِنْهُمْmin'humabout them
شَىْءٌۭ ۚshayonanything
لِّمَنِlimaniFor whom
ٱلْمُلْكُl-mul'ku(is) the Dominion
ٱلْيَوْمَ ۖl-yawmathis Day
لِلَّهِlillahiFor Allah
ٱلْوَٰحِدِl-wāḥidithe One
ٱلْقَهَّارِl-qahārithe Irresistible

Translation

(The) Day they come forth not is hidden from Allah about them anything For whom (is) the Dominion this Day For Allah the One the Irresistible

Verse 17

ٱلْيَوْمَal-yawmaThis Day
تُجْزَىٰtuj'zāwill be recompensed
كُلُّkulluevery
نَفْسٍۭnafsinsoul
بِمَاbimāfor what
كَسَبَتْ ۚkasabatit earned
لَاlāNo
ظُلْمَẓul'mainjustice
ٱلْيَوْمَ ۚl-yawmatoday
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
سَرِيعُsarīʿu(is) Swift
ٱلْحِسَابِl-ḥisābi(in) Account

Translation

This Day will be recompensed every soul for what it earned No injustice today Indeed Allah (is) Swift (in) Account

Verse 18

وَأَنذِرْهُمْwa-andhir'humAnd warn them
يَوْمَyawma(of the) Day
ٱلْـَٔازِفَةِl-āzifatithe Approaching
إِذِidhiwhen
ٱلْقُلُوبُl-qulūbuthe hearts
لَدَىladā(are) at
ٱلْحَنَاجِرِl-ḥanājirithe throats
كَـٰظِمِينَ ۚkāẓimīnachoked
مَاmāNot
لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَlilẓẓālimīnafor the wrongdoers
مِنْminany
حَمِيمٍۢḥamīminintimate friend
وَلَاwalāand no
شَفِيعٍۢshafīʿinintercessor
يُطَاعُyuṭāʿu(who) is obeyed

Translation

And warn them (of the) Day the Approaching when the hearts (are) at the throats choked Not for the wrongdoers any intimate friend and no intercessor (who) is obeyed

Verse 19

يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knows
خَآئِنَةَkhāinata(the) stealthy glance
ٱلْأَعْيُنِl-aʿyuni(the) stealthy glance
وَمَاwamāand what
تُخْفِىtukh'fīconceal
ٱلصُّدُورُl-ṣudūruthe breasts

Translation

He knows (the) stealthy glance (the) stealthy glance and what conceal the breasts

Verse 20

وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
يَقْضِىyaqḍījudges
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖbil-ḥaqiin truth
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnawhile those (whom)
يَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey invoke
مِنminbesides Him
دُونِهِۦdūnihibesides Him
لَاlānot
يَقْضُونَyaqḍūnathey judge
بِشَىْءٍ ۗbishayinwith anything
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearer
ٱلْبَصِيرُl-baṣīruthe All-Seer

Translation

And Allah judges in truth while those (whom) they invoke besides Him besides Him not they judge with anything Indeed Allah He (is) the All-Hearer the All-Seer

Verse 21

۞ أَوَلَمْawalamDo not
يَسِيرُوا۟yasīrūthey travel
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
فَيَنظُرُوا۟fayanẓurūand see
كَيْفَkayfahow
كَانَkānawas
عَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) end
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
كَانُوا۟kānūwere
مِنminbefore them
قَبْلِهِمْ ۚqablihimbefore them
كَانُوا۟kānūThey were
هُمْhum[they]
أَشَدَّashaddasuperior
مِنْهُمْmin'humto them
قُوَّةًۭquwwatan(in) strength
وَءَاثَارًۭاwaāthāranand (in) impressions
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe land
فَأَخَذَهُمُfa-akhadhahumubut Allah seized them
ٱللَّهُl-lahubut Allah seized them
بِذُنُوبِهِمْbidhunūbihimfor their sins
وَمَاwamāand not
كَانَkānawas
لَهُمlahumfor them
مِّنَminaagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
مِنminany
وَاقٍۢwāqinprotector

Translation

Do not they travel in the earth and see how was (the) end (of) those who were before them before them They were [they] superior to them (in) strength and (in) impressions in the land but Allah seized them but Allah seized them for their sins and not was for them against Allah any protector

Verse 22

ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
بِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(was) because [they]
كَانَتkānatused to come to them
تَّأْتِيهِمْtatīhimused to come to them
رُسُلُهُمrusuluhumtheir Messengers
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayinātiwith clear proofs
فَكَفَرُوا۟fakafarūbut they disbelieved
فَأَخَذَهُمُfa-akhadhahumuSo Allah seized them
ٱللَّهُ ۚl-lahuSo Allah seized them
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
قَوِىٌّۭqawiyyun(is) All-Strong
شَدِيدُshadīdusevere
ٱلْعِقَابِl-ʿiqābi(in) punishment

Translation

That (was) because [they] used to come to them used to come to them their Messengers with clear proofs but they disbelieved So Allah seized them So Allah seized them Indeed, He (is) All-Strong severe (in) punishment

Verse 23

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainly
أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sent
مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاbiāyātināwith Our Signs
وَسُلْطَـٰنٍۢwasul'ṭāninand an authority
مُّبِينٍmubīninclear

Translation

And certainly We sent Musa with Our Signs and an authority clear

Verse 24

إِلَىٰilāTo
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
وَهَـٰمَـٰنَwahāmānaHaman
وَقَـٰرُونَwaqārūnaand Qarun
فَقَالُوا۟faqālūbut they said
سَـٰحِرٌۭsāḥirunA magician
كَذَّابٌۭkadhābuna liar

Translation

To Firaun Haman and Qarun but they said A magician a liar

Verse 25

فَلَمَّاfalammāThen when
جَآءَهُمjāahumhe brought to them
بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqithe truth
مِنْminfrom
عِندِنَاʿindināUs
قَالُوا۟qālūthey said
ٱقْتُلُوٓا۟uq'tulūKill
أَبْنَآءَabnāa(the) sons
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
مَعَهُۥmaʿahuwith him
وَٱسْتَحْيُوا۟wa-is'taḥyūand let live
نِسَآءَهُمْ ۚnisāahumtheir women
وَمَاwamāAnd not
كَيْدُkaydu(is the) plot
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīna(of) the disbelievers
إِلَّاillābut
فِىfīin
ضَلَـٰلٍۢḍalālinerror

Translation

Then when he brought to them the truth from Us they said Kill (the) sons (of) those who believe with him and let live their women And not (is the) plot (of) the disbelievers but in error

Verse 26

وَقَالَwaqālaAnd said
فِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraun
ذَرُونِىٓdharūnīLeave me
أَقْتُلْaqtul(so that) I kill
مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa
وَلْيَدْعُwalyadʿuand let him call
رَبَّهُۥٓ ۖrabbahuhis Lord
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أَخَافُakhāfu[I] fear
أَنanthat
يُبَدِّلَyubaddilahe will change
دِينَكُمْdīnakumyour religion
أَوْawor
أَنanthat
يُظْهِرَyuẓ'hirahe may cause to appear
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe land
ٱلْفَسَادَl-fasādathe corruption

Translation

And said Firaun Leave me (so that) I kill Musa and let him call his Lord Indeed, I [I] fear that he will change your religion or that he may cause to appear in the land the corruption

Verse 27

وَقَالَwaqālaAnd said
مُوسَىٰٓmūsāMusa
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I
عُذْتُʿudh'tu[I] seek refuge
بِرَبِّىbirabbīin my Lord
وَرَبِّكُمwarabbikumand your Lord
مِّنminfrom
كُلِّkullievery
مُتَكَبِّرٍۢmutakabbirinarrogant one
لَّاlānot
يُؤْمِنُyu'minuwho believes
بِيَوْمِbiyawmi(in the) Day
ٱلْحِسَابِl-ḥisābi(of) the Account

Translation

And said Musa Indeed, I [I] seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant one not who believes (in the) Day (of) the Account

Verse 28

وَقَالَwaqālaAnd said
رَجُلٌۭrajuluna man
مُّؤْمِنٌۭmu'minunbelieving
مِّنْminfrom
ءَالِāli(the) family
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) Firaun
يَكْتُمُyaktumuwho conceal(ed)
إِيمَـٰنَهُۥٓīmānahuhis faith
أَتَقْتُلُونَataqtulūnaWill you kill
رَجُلًاrajulana man
أَنanbecause
يَقُولَyaqūlahe says
رَبِّىَrabbiyaMy Lord
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allah
وَقَدْwaqadand indeed
جَآءَكُمjāakumhe has brought you
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayināticlear proofs
مِنminfrom
رَّبِّكُمْ ۖrabbikumyour Lord
وَإِنwa-inAnd if
يَكُyakuhe is
كَـٰذِبًۭاkādhibana liar
فَعَلَيْهِfaʿalayhithen upon him
كَذِبُهُۥ ۖkadhibuhu(is) his lie
وَإِنwa-inand if
يَكُyakuhe is
صَادِقًۭاṣādiqantruthful
يُصِبْكُمyuṣib'kum(there) will strike you
بَعْضُbaʿḍusome (of)
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(that) which
يَعِدُكُمْ ۖyaʿidukumhe threatens you
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
لَاlā(does) not
يَهْدِىyahdīguide
مَنْman(one) who
هُوَhuwa[he]
مُسْرِفٌۭmus'rifun(is) a transgressor
كَذَّابٌۭkadhābuna liar

Translation

And said a man believing from (the) family (of) Firaun who conceal(ed) his faith Will you kill a man because he says My Lord (is) Allah and indeed he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord And if he is a liar then upon him (is) his lie and if he is truthful (there) will strike you some (of) (that) which he threatens you Indeed Allah (does) not guide (one) who [he] (is) a transgressor a liar

Verse 29

يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
لَكُمُlakumuFor you
ٱلْمُلْكُl-mul'ku(is) the kingdom
ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmatoday
ظَـٰهِرِينَẓāhirīnadominant
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe land
فَمَنfamanbut who
يَنصُرُنَاyanṣurunāwill help us
مِنۢminfrom
بَأْسِbasi(the) punishment
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
إِنinif
جَآءَنَا ۚjāanāit came to us
قَالَqālaSaid
فِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraun
مَآmāNot
أُرِيكُمْurīkumI show you
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَآmāwhat
أَرَىٰarāI see
وَمَآwamāand not
أَهْدِيكُمْahdīkumI guide you
إِلَّاillāexcept
سَبِيلَsabīla(to the) path
ٱلرَّشَادِl-rashādithe right

Translation

O my people For you (is) the kingdom today dominant in the land but who will help us from (the) punishment (of) Allah if it came to us Said Firaun Not I show you except what I see and not I guide you except (to the) path the right

Verse 30

وَقَالَwaqālaAnd said
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhī(he) who
ءَامَنَāmanabelieved
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed I
أَخَافُakhāfu[I] fear
عَلَيْكُمʿalaykumfor you
مِّثْلَmith'lalike
يَوْمِyawmi(the) day
ٱلْأَحْزَابِl-aḥzābi(of) the companies

Translation

And said (he) who believed O my people Indeed I [I] fear for you like (the) day (of) the companies

Verse 31

مِثْلَmith'laLike
دَأْبِdabi(the) plight
قَوْمِqawmi(of the) people
نُوحٍۢnūḥin(of) Nuh
وَعَادٍۢwaʿādinand Aad
وَثَمُودَwathamūdaand Thamud
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those
مِنۢminafter them
بَعْدِهِمْ ۚbaʿdihimafter them
وَمَاwamāAnd Allah (does) not
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah (does) not
يُرِيدُyurīduwant
ظُلْمًۭاẓul'maninjustice
لِّلْعِبَادِlil'ʿibādifor (His) slaves

Translation

Like (the) plight (of the) people (of) Nuh and Aad and Thamud and those after them after them And Allah (does) not And Allah (does) not want injustice for (His) slaves

Verse 32

وَيَـٰقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أَخَافُakhāfu[I] fear
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor you
يَوْمَyawma(the) Day
ٱلتَّنَادِl-tanādi(of) Calling

Translation

And O my people Indeed, I [I] fear for you (the) Day (of) Calling

Verse 33

يَوْمَyawmaA Day
تُوَلُّونَtuwallūnayou will turn back
مُدْبِرِينَmud'birīnafleeing
مَاmānot
لَكُمlakumfor you
مِّنَminafrom
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
مِنْminany
عَاصِمٍۢ ۗʿāṣiminprotector
وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
يُضْلِلِyuḍ'liliAllah lets go astray
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah lets go astray
فَمَاfamāthen not
لَهُۥlahufor him
مِنْminany
هَادٍۢhādinguide

Translation

A Day you will turn back fleeing not for you from Allah any protector And whoever Allah lets go astray Allah lets go astray then not for him any guide

Verse 34

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd indeed
جَآءَكُمْjāakumcame to you
يُوسُفُyūsufuYusuf
مِنminbefore
قَبْلُqablubefore
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayinātiwith clear proofs
فَمَاfamābut not
زِلْتُمْzil'tumyou ceased
فِىfīin
شَكٍّۢshakkindoubt
مِّمَّاmimmāabout what
جَآءَكُمjāakumhe brought to you
بِهِۦ ۖbihi[with it]
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāuntil
إِذَاidhāwhen
هَلَكَhalakahe died
قُلْتُمْqul'tumyou said
لَنlanNever
يَبْعَثَyabʿathawill Allah raise
ٱللَّهُl-lahuwill Allah raise
مِنۢminafter him
بَعْدِهِۦbaʿdihiafter him
رَسُولًۭا ۚrasūlana Messenger
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
يُضِلُّyuḍilluAllah lets go astray
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah lets go astray
مَنْmanwho
هُوَhuwa[he]
مُسْرِفٌۭmus'rifun(is) a transgressor
مُّرْتَابٌmur'tābuna doubter

Translation

And indeed came to you Yusuf before before with clear proofs but not you ceased in doubt about what he brought to you [with it] until when he died you said Never will Allah raise will Allah raise after him after him a Messenger Thus Allah lets go astray Allah lets go astray who [he] (is) a transgressor a doubter

Verse 35

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
يُجَـٰدِلُونَyujādilūnadispute
فِىٓfīconcerning
ءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Signs
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
سُلْطَـٰنٍsul'ṭāninany authority
أَتَىٰهُمْ ۖatāhum(having) come to them
كَبُرَkabura(it) is greatly
مَقْتًاmaqtanhateful
عِندَʿindanear Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahinear Allah
وَعِندَwaʿindaand near
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose
ءَامَنُوا۟ ۚāmanūwho believe
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
يَطْبَعُyaṭbaʿuAllah sets a seal
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah sets a seal
عَلَىٰʿalāover
كُلِّkullievery
قَلْبِqalbiheart
مُتَكَبِّرٍۢmutakabbirin(of) an arrogant
جَبَّارٍۢjabbārintyrant

Translation

Those who dispute concerning (the) Signs (of) Allah without any authority (having) come to them (it) is greatly hateful near Allah near Allah and near those who believe Thus Allah sets a seal Allah sets a seal over every heart (of) an arrogant tyrant

Verse 36

وَقَالَwaqālaAnd said
فِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraun
يَـٰهَـٰمَـٰنُyāhāmānuO Haman
ٱبْنِib'niConstruct
لِىlīfor me
صَرْحًۭاṣarḥana tower
لَّعَلِّىٓlaʿallīthat I may
أَبْلُغُablughureach
ٱلْأَسْبَـٰبَl-asbābathe ways

Translation

And said Firaun O Haman Construct for me a tower that I may reach the ways

Verse 37

أَسْبَـٰبَasbāba(The) ways
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(to) the heavens
فَأَطَّلِعَfa-aṭṭaliʿaso I may look
إِلَىٰٓilāat
إِلَـٰهِilāhi(the) God
مُوسَىٰmūsā(of) Musa
وَإِنِّىwa-innīand indeed, I
لَأَظُنُّهُۥla-aẓunnuhu[I] surely think him
كَـٰذِبًۭا ۚkādhiban(to be) a liar
وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
زُيِّنَzuyyinawas made fair-seeming
لِفِرْعَوْنَlifir'ʿawnato Firaun
سُوٓءُsūu(the) evil
عَمَلِهِۦʿamalihi(of) his deed
وَصُدَّwaṣuddaand he was averted
عَنِʿanifrom
ٱلسَّبِيلِ ۚl-sabīlithe way
وَمَاwamāAnd not
كَيْدُkaydu(was the) plot
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) Firaun
إِلَّاillāexcept
فِىfīin
تَبَابٍۢtabābinruin

Translation

(The) ways (to) the heavens so I may look at (the) God (of) Musa and indeed, I [I] surely think him (to be) a liar And thus was made fair-seeming to Firaun (the) evil (of) his deed and he was averted from the way And not (was the) plot (of) Firaun except in ruin

Verse 38

وَقَالَwaqālaAnd said
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhīthe one who
ءَامَنَāmanabelieved
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
ٱتَّبِعُونِittabiʿūniFollow me
أَهْدِكُمْahdikumI will guide you
سَبِيلَsabīla(to the) way
ٱلرَّشَادِl-rashādithe right

Translation

And said the one who believed O my people Follow me I will guide you (to the) way the right

Verse 39

يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
هَـٰذِهِhādhihithis
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُl-ḥayatuthe life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
مَتَـٰعٌۭmatāʿun(is) enjoyment
وَإِنَّwa-innaand indeed
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَl-ākhiratathe Hereafter
هِىَhiyait
دَارُdāru(is the) home
ٱلْقَرَارِl-qarāri(of) settlement

Translation

O my people Only this the life (of) the world (is) enjoyment and indeed the Hereafter it (is the) home (of) settlement

Verse 40

مَنْmanWhoever
عَمِلَʿamiladoes
سَيِّئَةًۭsayyi-atanan evil
فَلَاfalāthen not
يُجْزَىٰٓyuj'zāhe will be recompensed
إِلَّاillābut
مِثْلَهَا ۖmith'lahā(the) like thereof
وَمَنْwamanand whoever
عَمِلَʿamiladoes
صَـٰلِحًۭاṣāliḥanrighteous (deeds)
مِّنminof
ذَكَرٍdhakarinmale
أَوْawor
أُنثَىٰunthāfemale
وَهُوَwahuwawhile he
مُؤْمِنٌۭmu'minun(is) a believer
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَfa-ulāikathen those
يَدْخُلُونَyadkhulūnawill enter
ٱلْجَنَّةَl-janataParadise
يُرْزَقُونَyur'zaqūnathey will be given provision
فِيهَاfīhāin it
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
حِسَابٍۢḥisābinaccount

Translation

Whoever does an evil then not he will be recompensed but (the) like thereof and whoever does righteous (deeds) of male or female while he (is) a believer then those will enter Paradise they will be given provision in it without account

Verse 41

۞ وَيَـٰقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people
مَاmāWhat (is)
لِىٓlīfor me
أَدْعُوكُمْadʿūkum(that) I call you
إِلَىilāto
ٱلنَّجَوٰةِl-najatithe salvation
وَتَدْعُونَنِىٓwatadʿūnanīwhile you call me
إِلَىilāto
ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fire

Translation

And O my people What (is) for me (that) I call you to the salvation while you call me to the Fire

Verse 42

تَدْعُونَنِىtadʿūnanīYou call me
لِأَكْفُرَli-akfurathat I disbelieve
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allah
وَأُشْرِكَwa-ush'rikaand (to) associate
بِهِۦbihiwith Him
مَاmāwhat
لَيْسَlaysanot
لِىlīfor me
بِهِۦbihiof it
عِلْمٌۭʿil'munany knowledge
وَأَنَا۠wa-anāand I
أَدْعُوكُمْadʿūkumcall you
إِلَىilāto
ٱلْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzithe All-Mighty
ٱلْغَفَّـٰرِl-ghafārithe Oft-Forgiving

Translation

You call me that I disbelieve in Allah and (to) associate with Him what not for me of it any knowledge and I call you to the All-Mighty the Oft-Forgiving

Verse 43

لَاlāNo
جَرَمَjaramadoubt
أَنَّمَاannamāthat what
تَدْعُونَنِىٓtadʿūnanīyou call me
إِلَيْهِilayhito it
لَيْسَlaysanot
لَهُۥlahufor it
دَعْوَةٌۭdaʿwatuna claim
فِىfīin
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe world
وَلَاwalāand not
فِىfīin
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafter
وَأَنَّwa-annaand that
مَرَدَّنَآmaraddanāour return
إِلَىilā(is) to
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
وَأَنَّwa-annaand that
ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَl-mus'rifīnathe transgressors
هُمْhumthey
أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(will be the) companions
ٱلنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fire

Translation

No doubt that what you call me to it not for it a claim in the world and not in the Hereafter and that our return (is) to Allah and that the transgressors they (will be the) companions (of) the Fire

Verse 44

فَسَتَذْكُرُونَfasatadhkurūnaAnd you will remember
مَآmāwhat
أَقُولُaqūluI say
لَكُمْ ۚlakumto you
وَأُفَوِّضُwa-ufawwiḍuand I entrust
أَمْرِىٓamrīmy affair
إِلَىilāto
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllah
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
بَصِيرٌۢbaṣīrun(is) All-Seer
بِٱلْعِبَادِbil-ʿibādiof (His) slaves

Translation

And you will remember what I say to you and I entrust my affair to Allah Indeed Allah (is) All-Seer of (His) slaves

Verse 45

فَوَقَىٰهُfawaqāhuSo Allah protected him
ٱللَّهُl-lahuSo Allah protected him
سَيِّـَٔاتِsayyiāti(from the) evils
مَاmāthat
مَكَرُوا۟ ۖmakarūthey plotted
وَحَاقَwaḥāqaand enveloped
بِـَٔالِbiāli(the) people
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) Firaun
سُوٓءُsūu(the) worst
ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābipunishment

Translation

So Allah protected him So Allah protected him (from the) evils that they plotted and enveloped (the) people (of) Firaun (the) worst punishment

Verse 46

ٱلنَّارُal-nāruThe Fire
يُعْرَضُونَyuʿ'raḍūnathey are exposed
عَلَيْهَاʿalayhāto it
غُدُوًّۭاghuduwwanmorning
وَعَشِيًّۭا ۖwaʿashiyyanand evening
وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) Day
تَقُومُtaqūmu(will be) established
ٱلسَّاعَةُl-sāʿatuthe Hour
أَدْخِلُوٓا۟adkhilūCause to enter
ءَالَāla(the) people
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) Firaun
أَشَدَّashadda(in the) severest
ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābipunishment

Translation

The Fire they are exposed to it morning and evening And (the) Day (will be) established the Hour Cause to enter (the) people (of) Firaun (in the) severest punishment

Verse 47

وَإِذْwa-idhAnd when
يَتَحَآجُّونَyataḥājjūnathey will dispute
فِىfīin
ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fire
فَيَقُولُfayaqūluthen will say
ٱلضُّعَفَـٰٓؤُا۟l-ḍuʿafāuthe weak
لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those who
ٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟is'takbarūwere arrogant
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
كُنَّاkunnā[we] were
لَكُمْlakumfor you
تَبَعًۭاtabaʿanfollowers
فَهَلْfahalso can
أَنتُمantumyou
مُّغْنُونَmugh'nūnaavert
عَنَّاʿannāfrom us
نَصِيبًۭاnaṣībana portion
مِّنَminaof
ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fire

Translation

And when they will dispute in the Fire then will say the weak to those who were arrogant Indeed, we [we] were for you followers so can you avert from us a portion of the Fire

Verse 48

قَالَqālaWill say
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟is'takbarū(were) arrogant
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
كُلٌّۭkullunall
فِيهَآfīhā(are) in it
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
قَدْqadcertainly
حَكَمَḥakamahas judged
بَيْنَbaynabetween
ٱلْعِبَادِl-ʿibādi(His) slaves

Translation

Will say those who (were) arrogant Indeed, we all (are) in it Indeed Allah certainly has judged between (His) slaves

Verse 49

وَقَالَwaqālaAnd will say
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose
فِىfīin
ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fire
لِخَزَنَةِlikhazanatito (the) keepers
جَهَنَّمَjahannama(of) Hell
ٱدْعُوا۟id'ʿūCall
رَبَّكُمْrabbakumyour Lord
يُخَفِّفْyukhaffif(to) lighten
عَنَّاʿannāfor us
يَوْمًۭاyawmana day
مِّنَminaof
ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābithe punishment

Translation

And will say those in the Fire to (the) keepers (of) Hell Call your Lord (to) lighten for us a day of the punishment

Verse 50

قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey (will) say
أَوَلَمْawalamDid there not
تَكُtakuDid there not
تَأْتِيكُمْtatīkumcome to you
رُسُلُكُمrusulukumyour Messengers
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ ۖbil-bayinātiwith clear proofs
قَالُوا۟qālūThey (will) say
بَلَىٰ ۚbalāYes
قَالُوا۟qālūThey (will) say
فَٱدْعُوا۟ ۗfa-id'ʿūThen call
وَمَاwamābut not
دُعَـٰٓؤُا۟duʿāu(is the) call
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīna(of) the disbelievers
إِلَّاillāexcept
فِىfīin
ضَلَـٰلٍḍalālinerror

Translation

They (will) say Did there not Did there not come to you your Messengers with clear proofs They (will) say Yes They (will) say Then call but not (is the) call (of) the disbelievers except in error

Verse 51

إِنَّاinnāIndeed We
لَنَنصُرُlananṣuruWe will surely help
رُسُلَنَاrusulanāOur Messengers
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
فِىfīin
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayatithe life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
وَيَوْمَwayawmaand (on the) Day
يَقُومُyaqūmu(when) will stand
ٱلْأَشْهَـٰدُl-ashhāduthe witnesses

Translation

Indeed We We will surely help Our Messengers and those who believe in the life (of) the world and (on the) Day (when) will stand the witnesses

Verse 52

يَوْمَyawma(The) Day
لَاlānot
يَنفَعُyanfaʿuwill benefit
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ ۖmaʿdhiratuhumtheir excuse
وَلَهُمُwalahumuand for them
ٱللَّعْنَةُl-laʿnatu(is) the curse
وَلَهُمْwalahumand for them
سُوٓءُsūu(is the) worst
ٱلدَّارِl-dārihome

Translation

(The) Day not will benefit the wrongdoers their excuse and for them (is) the curse and for them (is the) worst home

Verse 53

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainly
ءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gave
مُوسَىmūsāMusa
ٱلْهُدَىٰl-hudāthe guidance
وَأَوْرَثْنَاwa-awrathnāand We caused to inherit
بَنِىٓbanī(the) Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(the) Children of Israel
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book

Translation

And certainly We gave Musa the guidance and We caused to inherit (the) Children of Israel (the) Children of Israel the Book

Verse 54

هُدًۭىhudanA guide
وَذِكْرَىٰwadhik'rāand a reminder
لِأُو۟لِىli-ulīfor those
ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِl-albābi(of) understanding

Translation

A guide and a reminder for those (of) understanding

Verse 55

فَٱصْبِرْfa-iṣ'birSo be patient
إِنَّinnaindeed
وَعْدَwaʿda(the) Promise of Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(the) Promise of Allah
حَقٌّۭḥaqqun(is) true
وَٱسْتَغْفِرْwa-is'taghfirAnd ask forgiveness
لِذَنۢبِكَlidhanbikafor your sin
وَسَبِّحْwasabbiḥand glorify
بِحَمْدِbiḥamdi(the) praise
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
بِٱلْعَشِىِّbil-ʿashiyiin the evening
وَٱلْإِبْكَـٰرِwal-ib'kāriand the morning

Translation

So be patient indeed (the) Promise of Allah (the) Promise of Allah (is) true And ask forgiveness for your sin and glorify (the) praise (of) your Lord in the evening and the morning

Verse 56

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يُجَـٰدِلُونَyujādilūnadispute
فِىٓfīconcerning
ءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Signs
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
سُلْطَـٰنٍsul'ṭāninany authority
أَتَىٰهُمْ ۙatāhum(which) came to them
إِنinnot
فِىfī(is) in
صُدُورِهِمْṣudūrihimtheir breasts
إِلَّاillābut
كِبْرٌۭkib'rungreatness
مَّاmānot
هُمhumthey
بِبَـٰلِغِيهِ ۚbibālighīhi(can) reach it
فَٱسْتَعِذْfa-is'taʿidhSo seek refuge
بِٱللَّهِ ۖbil-lahiin Allah
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed He
هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearer
ٱلْبَصِيرُl-baṣīruthe All-Seer

Translation

Indeed those who dispute concerning (the) Signs (of) Allah without any authority (which) came to them not (is) in their breasts but greatness not they (can) reach it So seek refuge in Allah Indeed He He (is) the All-Hearer the All-Seer

Verse 57

لَخَلْقُlakhalquSurely, (the) creation
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
أَكْبَرُakbaru(is) greater
مِنْminthan
خَلْقِkhalqi(the) creation
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the mankind
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabut
أَكْثَرَaktharamost
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the people
لَاlā(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow

Translation

Surely, (the) creation (of) the heavens and the earth (is) greater than (the) creation (of) the mankind but most (of) the people (do) not know

Verse 58

وَمَاwamāAnd not
يَسْتَوِىyastawī(are) equal
ٱلْأَعْمَىٰl-aʿmāthe blind
وَٱلْبَصِيرُwal-baṣīruand the seeing
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
وَعَمِلُوا۟waʿamilūand do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deeds
وَلَاwalāand not
ٱلْمُسِىٓءُ ۚl-musīuthe evildoer
قَلِيلًۭاqalīlanLittle
مَّاmā(is) what
تَتَذَكَّرُونَtatadhakkarūnayou take heed

Translation

And not (are) equal the blind and the seeing and those who believe and do righteous deeds and not the evildoer Little (is) what you take heed

Verse 59

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلسَّاعَةَl-sāʿatathe Hour
لَـَٔاتِيَةٌۭlaātiyatun(is) surely coming
لَّاlāno
رَيْبَraybadoubt
فِيهَاfīhāin it
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabut
أَكْثَرَaktharamost
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the people
لَاlā(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve

Translation

Indeed the Hour (is) surely coming no doubt in it but most (of) the people (do) not believe

Verse 60

وَقَالَwaqālaAnd said
رَبُّكُمُrabbukumuyour Lord
ٱدْعُونِىٓid'ʿūnīCall upon Me
أَسْتَجِبْastajibI will respond
لَكُمْ ۚlakumto you
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَسْتَكْبِرُونَyastakbirūna(are) proud
عَنْʿanto
عِبَادَتِىʿibādatīworship Me
سَيَدْخُلُونَsayadkhulūnawill enter
جَهَنَّمَjahannamaHell
دَاخِرِينَdākhirīna(in) humiliation

Translation

And said your Lord Call upon Me I will respond to you Indeed those who (are) proud to worship Me will enter Hell (in) humiliation

Verse 61

ٱللَّهُal-lahuAllah
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
جَعَلَjaʿalamade
لَكُمُlakumufor you
ٱلَّيْلَal-laylathe night
لِتَسْكُنُوا۟litaskunūthat you may rest
فِيهِfīhiin it
وَٱلنَّهَارَwal-nahāraand the day
مُبْصِرًا ۚmub'ṣirangiving visibility
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
لَذُوladhū(is) Full (of) Bounty
فَضْلٍfaḍlin(is) Full (of) Bounty
عَلَىʿalāto
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsithe people
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabut
أَكْثَرَaktharamost
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the people
لَاlā(do) not
يَشْكُرُونَyashkurūnagive thanks

Translation

Allah (is) the One Who made for you the night that you may rest in it and the day giving visibility Indeed Allah (is) Full (of) Bounty (is) Full (of) Bounty to the people but most (of) the people (do) not give thanks

Verse 62

ذَٰلِكُمُdhālikumuThat
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allah
رَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lord
خَـٰلِقُkhāliqu(the) Creator
كُلِّkulli(of) all
شَىْءٍۢshayinthings
لَّآlā(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّاillāexcept
هُوَ ۖhuwaHim
فَأَنَّىٰfa-annāSo how
تُؤْفَكُونَtu'fakūnaare you deluded

Translation

That (is) Allah your Lord (the) Creator (of) all things (there is) no god except Him So how are you deluded

Verse 63

كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
يُؤْفَكُyu'fakuwere deluded
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَانُوا۟kānūwere
بِـَٔايَـٰتِbiāyāti(the) Signs
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
يَجْحَدُونَyajḥadūnarejecting

Translation

Thus were deluded those who were (the) Signs (of) Allah rejecting

Verse 64

ٱللَّهُal-lahuAllah
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
جَعَلَjaʿalamade
لَكُمُlakumufor you
ٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earth
قَرَارًۭاqarārana place of settlement
وَٱلسَّمَآءَwal-samāaand the sky
بِنَآءًۭbināana canopy
وَصَوَّرَكُمْwaṣawwarakumand He formed you
فَأَحْسَنَfa-aḥsanaand perfected
صُوَرَكُمْṣuwarakumyour forms
وَرَزَقَكُمwarazaqakumand provided you
مِّنَminaof
ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ ۚl-ṭayibātithe good things
ذَٰلِكُمُdhālikumuThat
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allah
رَبُّكُمْ ۖrabbukumyour Lord
فَتَبَارَكَfatabārakaThen blessed (is)
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
رَبُّrabbu(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

Allah (is) the One Who made for you the earth a place of settlement and the sky a canopy and He formed you and perfected your forms and provided you of the good things That (is) Allah your Lord Then blessed (is) Allah (the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 65

هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلْحَىُّl-ḥayu(is) the Ever-Living
لَآlā(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّاillābut
هُوَhuwaHe
فَٱدْعُوهُfa-id'ʿūhuso call Him
مُخْلِصِينَmukh'liṣīna(being) sincere
لَهُlahuto Him
ٱلدِّينَ ۗl-dīna(in) the religion
ٱلْحَمْدُl-ḥamduAll praise (be)
لِلَّهِlillahito Allah
رَبِّrabbi(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

He (is) the Ever-Living (there is) no god but He so call Him (being) sincere to Him (in) the religion All praise (be) to Allah (the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 66

۞ قُلْqulSay
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I
نُهِيتُnuhītu[I] have been forbidden
أَنْanto
أَعْبُدَaʿbudaworship
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whom
تَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou call
مِنminbesides
دُونِdūnibesides
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
لَمَّاlammāwhen
جَآءَنِىَjāaniyahave come to me
ٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتُl-bayinātuthe clear proofs
مِنminfrom
رَّبِّىrabbīmy Lord
وَأُمِرْتُwa-umir'tuand I am commanded
أَنْanto
أُسْلِمَus'limasubmit
لِرَبِّlirabbito (the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

Say Indeed, I [I] have been forbidden to worship those whom you call besides besides Allah when have come to me the clear proofs from my Lord and I am commanded to submit to (the) Lord (of) the worlds

Verse 67

هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
خَلَقَكُمkhalaqakumcreated you
مِّنminfrom
تُرَابٍۢturābindust
ثُمَّthummathen
مِنminfrom
نُّطْفَةٍۢnuṭ'fatina semen-drop
ثُمَّthummathen
مِنْminfrom
عَلَقَةٍۢʿalaqatina clinging substance
ثُمَّthummathen
يُخْرِجُكُمْyukh'rijukumHe brings you out
طِفْلًۭاṭif'lan(as) a child
ثُمَّthummathen
لِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟litablughūlets you reach
أَشُدَّكُمْashuddakumyour maturity
ثُمَّthummathen
لِتَكُونُوا۟litakūnūlets you become
شُيُوخًۭا ۚshuyūkhanold
وَمِنكُمwaminkumand among you
مَّنman(is he) who
يُتَوَفَّىٰyutawaffādies
مِنminbefore
قَبْلُ ۖqablubefore
وَلِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟walitablughūand lets you reach
أَجَلًۭاajalana term
مُّسَمًّۭىmusammanspecified
وَلَعَلَّكُمْwalaʿallakumand that you may
تَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnause reason

Translation

He (is) the One Who created you from dust then from a semen-drop then from a clinging substance then He brings you out (as) a child then lets you reach your maturity then lets you become old and among you (is he) who dies before before and lets you reach a term specified and that you may use reason

Verse 68

هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
يُحْىِۦyuḥ'yīgives life
وَيُمِيتُ ۖwayumītuand causes death
فَإِذَاfa-idhāAnd when
قَضَىٰٓqaḍāHe decrees
أَمْرًۭاamrana matter
فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen only
يَقُولُyaqūluHe says
لَهُۥlahuto it
كُنkunBe
فَيَكُونُfayakūnuand it is

Translation

He (is) the One Who gives life and causes death And when He decrees a matter then only He says to it Be and it is

Verse 69

أَلَمْalamDo not
تَرَtarayou see
إِلَىilā[to]
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يُجَـٰدِلُونَyujādilūnadispute
فِىٓfīconcerning
ءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Signs
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
أَنَّىٰannāHow
يُصْرَفُونَyuṣ'rafūnathey are turned away

Translation

Do not you see [to] those who dispute concerning (the) Signs (of) Allah How they are turned away

Verse 70

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
كَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūdeny
بِٱلْكِتَـٰبِbil-kitābithe Book
وَبِمَآwabimāand with what
أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sent
بِهِۦbihiwith it
رُسُلَنَا ۖrusulanāOur Messengers
فَسَوْفَfasawfabut soon
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnathey will know

Translation

Those who deny the Book and with what We sent with it Our Messengers but soon they will know

Verse 71

إِذِidhiWhen
ٱلْأَغْلَـٰلُl-aghlāluthe iron collars
فِىٓfī(will be) around
أَعْنَـٰقِهِمْaʿnāqihimtheir necks
وَٱلسَّلَـٰسِلُwal-salāsiluand the chains
يُسْحَبُونَyus'ḥabūnathey will be dragged

Translation

When the iron collars (will be) around their necks and the chains they will be dragged

Verse 72

فِىfīIn
ٱلْحَمِيمِl-ḥamīmithe boiling water
ثُمَّthummathen
فِىfīin
ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fire
يُسْجَرُونَyus'jarūnathey will be burned

Translation

In the boiling water then in the Fire they will be burned

Verse 73

ثُمَّthummaThen
قِيلَqīlait will be said
لَهُمْlahumto them
أَيْنَaynaWhere
مَاmā(is) that which
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تُشْرِكُونَtush'rikūnaassociate

Translation

Then it will be said to them Where (is) that which you used to associate

Verse 74

مِنminOther than
دُونِdūniOther than
ٱللَّهِ ۖl-lahiAllah
قَالُوا۟qālūThey will say
ضَلُّوا۟ḍallūThey have departed
عَنَّاʿannāfrom us
بَلbalNay
لَّمْlamNot
نَكُنnakunwe used to
نَّدْعُوا۟nadʿū[we] call
مِنminbefore
قَبْلُqablubefore
شَيْـًۭٔا ۚshayananything
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
يُضِلُّyuḍilluAllah lets go astray
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah lets go astray
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers

Translation

Other than Other than Allah They will say They have departed from us Nay Not we used to [we] call before before anything Thus Allah lets go astray Allah lets go astray the disbelievers

Verse 75

ذَٰلِكُمdhālikumThat was
بِمَاbimābecause
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَفْرَحُونَtafraḥūnarejoice
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
ٱلْحَقِّl-ḥaqiright
وَبِمَاwabimāand because
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَمْرَحُونَtamraḥūnabe insolent

Translation

That was because you used to rejoice in the earth without right and because you used to be insolent

Verse 76

ٱدْخُلُوٓا۟ud'khulūEnter
أَبْوَٰبَabwāba(the) gates
جَهَنَّمَjahannama(of) Hell
خَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīna(to) abide forever
فِيهَا ۖfīhāin it
فَبِئْسَfabi'saand wretched is
مَثْوَىmathwā(the) abode
ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَl-mutakabirīna(of) the arrogant

Translation

Enter (the) gates (of) Hell (to) abide forever in it and wretched is (the) abode (of) the arrogant

Verse 77

فَٱصْبِرْfa-iṣ'birSo be patient
إِنَّinnaindeed
وَعْدَwaʿda(the) Promise
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
حَقٌّۭ ۚḥaqqun(is) true
فَإِمَّاfa-immāAnd whether
نُرِيَنَّكَnuriyannakaWe show you
بَعْضَbaʿḍasome
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(of) what
نَعِدُهُمْnaʿiduhumWe have promised them
أَوْawor
نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَnatawaffayannakaWe cause you to die
فَإِلَيْنَاfa-ilaynāthen to Us
يُرْجَعُونَyur'jaʿūnathey will be returned

Translation

So be patient indeed (the) Promise (of) Allah (is) true And whether We show you some (of) what We have promised them or We cause you to die then to Us they will be returned

Verse 78

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainly
أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe have sent
رُسُلًۭاrusulanMessengers
مِّنminbefore you
قَبْلِكَqablikabefore you
مِنْهُمmin'humAmong them
مَّنman(are) who
قَصَصْنَاqaṣaṣnāWe have related
عَلَيْكَʿalaykato you
وَمِنْهُمwamin'humand among them
مَّنman(are) who
لَّمْlamnot
نَقْصُصْnaqṣuṣWe have related
عَلَيْكَ ۗʿalaykato you
وَمَاwamāAnd not
كَانَkānais
لِرَسُولٍlirasūlinfor any Messenger
أَنanthat
يَأْتِىَyatiyahe brings
بِـَٔايَةٍbiāyatina Sign
إِلَّاillāexcept
بِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby (the) permission
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi(of) Allah
فَإِذَاfa-idhāSo when
جَآءَjāacomes
أَمْرُamru(the) Command
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
قُضِىَquḍiyait will be decided
بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truth
وَخَسِرَwakhasiraand will lose
هُنَالِكَhunālikathere
ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَl-mub'ṭilūnathe falsifiers

Translation

And certainly We have sent Messengers before you before you Among them (are) who We have related to you and among them (are) who not We have related to you And not is for any Messenger that he brings a Sign except by (the) permission (of) Allah So when comes (the) Command (of) Allah it will be decided in truth and will lose there the falsifiers

Verse 79

ٱللَّهُal-lahuAllah
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
جَعَلَjaʿalamade
لَكُمُlakumufor you
ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمَl-anʿāmathe cattle
لِتَرْكَبُوا۟litarkabūthat you may ride
مِنْهَاmin'hāsome of them
وَمِنْهَاwamin'hāand some of them
تَأْكُلُونَtakulūnayou eat

Translation

Allah (is) the One Who made for you the cattle that you may ride some of them and some of them you eat

Verse 80

وَلَكُمْwalakumAnd for you
فِيهَاfīhāin them
مَنَـٰفِعُmanāfiʿu(are) benefits
وَلِتَبْلُغُوا۟walitablughūand that you may reach
عَلَيْهَاʿalayhāthrough them
حَاجَةًۭḥājatana need
فِىfī(that is) in
صُدُورِكُمْṣudūrikumyour breasts
وَعَلَيْهَاwaʿalayhāand upon them
وَعَلَىwaʿalāand upon
ٱلْفُلْكِl-ful'kithe ships
تُحْمَلُونَtuḥ'malūnayou are carried

Translation

And for you in them (are) benefits and that you may reach through them a need (that is) in your breasts and upon them and upon the ships you are carried

Verse 81

وَيُرِيكُمْwayurīkumAnd He shows you
ءَايَـٰتِهِۦāyātihiHis Signs
فَأَىَّfa-ayyaThen which
ءَايَـٰتِāyāti(of the) Signs
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
تُنكِرُونَtunkirūnawill you deny

Translation

And He shows you His Signs Then which (of the) Signs (of) Allah will you deny

Verse 82

أَفَلَمْafalamDo they not
يَسِيرُوا۟yasīrūtravel
فِىfīthrough
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe land
فَيَنظُرُوا۟fayanẓurūand see
كَيْفَkayfahow
كَانَkānawas
عَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) end
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
مِنmin(were) before them
قَبْلِهِمْ ۚqablihim(were) before them
كَانُوٓا۟kānūThey were
أَكْثَرَaktharamore numerous
مِنْهُمْmin'humthan them
وَأَشَدَّwa-ashaddaand mightier
قُوَّةًۭquwwatan(in) strength
وَءَاثَارًۭاwaāthāranand impressions
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe land
فَمَآfamābut not
أَغْنَىٰaghnāavailed
عَنْهُمʿanhumthem
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearn

Translation

Do they not travel through the land and see how was (the) end (of) those who (were) before them (were) before them They were more numerous than them and mightier (in) strength and impressions in the land but not availed them what they used to earn

Verse 83

فَلَمَّاfalammāThen when
جَآءَتْهُمْjāathumcame to them
رُسُلُهُمrusuluhumtheir Messengers
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayinātiwith clear proofs
فَرِحُوا۟fariḥūthey rejoiced
بِمَاbimāin what
عِندَهُمʿindahumthey had
مِّنَminaof
ٱلْعِلْمِl-ʿil'mithe knowledge
وَحَاقَwaḥāqaand enveloped
بِهِمbihimthem
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
بِهِۦbihi[at it]
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūnamock

Translation

Then when came to them their Messengers with clear proofs they rejoiced in what they had of the knowledge and enveloped them what they used to [at it] mock

Verse 84

فَلَمَّاfalammāSo when
رَأَوْا۟ra-awthey saw
بَأْسَنَاbasanāOur punishment
قَالُوٓا۟qālūthey said
ءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believe
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allah
وَحْدَهُۥwaḥdahuAlone
وَكَفَرْنَاwakafarnāand we disbelieve
بِمَاbimāin what
كُنَّاkunnāwe used to
بِهِۦbihiwith Him
مُشْرِكِينَmush'rikīnaassociate

Translation

So when they saw Our punishment they said We believe in Allah Alone and we disbelieve in what we used to with Him associate

Verse 85

فَلَمْfalamBut did not
يَكُyakuBut did not
يَنفَعُهُمْyanfaʿuhumbenefit them
إِيمَـٰنُهُمْīmānuhumtheir faith
لَمَّاlammāwhen
رَأَوْا۟ra-awthey saw
بَأْسَنَا ۖbasanāOur punishment
سُنَّتَsunnata(Such is the) Way
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
ٱلَّتِىallatīwhich
قَدْqad(has) indeed
خَلَتْkhalatpreceded
فِىfīamong
عِبَادِهِۦ ۖʿibādihiHis slaves
وَخَسِرَwakhasiraAnd are lost
هُنَالِكَhunālikathere
ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَl-kāfirūnathe disbelievers

Translation

But did not But did not benefit them their faith when they saw Our punishment (Such is the) Way (of) Allah which (has) indeed preceded among His slaves And are lost there the disbelievers
