Verse 1

حمٓhha-meemHa Meem

Translation

Ha Meem

Verse 2

تَنزِيلُtanzīlu(The) revelation
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
مِنَmina(is) from
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
ٱلْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzithe All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمِl-ḥakīmithe All-Wise

Translation

(The) revelation (of) the Book (is) from Allah the All-Mighty the All-Wise

Verse 3

إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢlaāyātinsurely (are) Signs
لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَlil'mu'minīnafor the believers

Translation

Indeed in the heavens and the earth surely (are) Signs for the believers

Verse 4

وَفِىwafīAnd in
خَلْقِكُمْkhalqikumyour creation
وَمَاwamāand what
يَبُثُّyabuthuHe disperses
مِنminof
دَآبَّةٍdābbatin(the) moving creatures
ءَايَـٰتٌۭāyātun(are) Signs
لِّقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يُوقِنُونَyūqinūnawho are certain

Translation

And in your creation and what He disperses of (the) moving creatures (are) Signs for a people who are certain

Verse 5

وَٱخْتِلَـٰفِwa-ikh'tilāfiAnd (in the) alternation
ٱلَّيْلِal-layli(of) the night
وَٱلنَّهَارِwal-nahāriand the day
وَمَآwamāand what
أَنزَلَanzalaAllah sends down
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah sends down
مِنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
مِنminof
رِّزْقٍۢriz'qin(the) provision
فَأَحْيَاfa-aḥyāand gives life
بِهِbihithereby
ٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍa(to) the earth
بَعْدَbaʿdaafter
مَوْتِهَاmawtihāits death
وَتَصْرِيفِwataṣrīfiand (in) directing
ٱلرِّيَـٰحِl-riyāḥi(the) winds
ءَايَـٰتٌۭāyātun(are) Signs
لِّقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnawho reason

Translation

And (in the) alternation (of) the night and the day and what Allah sends down Allah sends down from the sky of (the) provision and gives life thereby (to) the earth after its death and (in) directing (the) winds (are) Signs for a people who reason

Verse 6

تِلْكَtil'kaThese
ءَايَـٰتُāyātu(are the) Verses
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
نَتْلُوهَاnatlūhāWe recite them
عَلَيْكَʿalaykato you
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖbil-ḥaqiin truth
فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiThen in what
حَدِيثٍۭḥadīthinstatement
بَعْدَbaʿdaafter
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
وَءَايَـٰتِهِۦwaāyātihiand His Verses
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawill they believe

Translation

These (are the) Verses (of) Allah We recite them to you in truth Then in what statement after Allah and His Verses will they believe

Verse 7

وَيْلٌۭwaylunWoe
لِّكُلِّlikullito every
أَفَّاكٍaffākinliar
أَثِيمٍۢathīminsinful

Translation

Woe to every liar sinful

Verse 8

يَسْمَعُyasmaʿuWho hears
ءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Verses
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
تُتْلَىٰtut'lārecited
عَلَيْهِʿalayhito him
ثُمَّthummathen
يُصِرُّyuṣirrupersists
مُسْتَكْبِرًۭاmus'takbiranarrogantly
كَأَنka-anas if
لَّمْlamnot
يَسْمَعْهَا ۖyasmaʿhāhe heard them
فَبَشِّرْهُfabashir'huSo give him tidings
بِعَذَابٍbiʿadhābin(of) a punishment
أَلِيمٍۢalīminpainful

Translation

Who hears (the) Verses (of) Allah recited to him then persists arrogantly as if not he heard them So give him tidings (of) a punishment painful

Verse 9

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
عَلِمَʿalimahe knows
مِنْminof
ءَايَـٰتِنَاāyātināOur Verses
شَيْـًٔاshayananything
ٱتَّخَذَهَاittakhadhahāhe takes them
هُزُوًا ۚhuzuwan(in) ridicule
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
لَهُمْlahumfor them
عَذَابٌۭʿadhābun(is) a punishment
مُّهِينٌۭmuhīnunhumiliating

Translation

And when he knows of Our Verses anything he takes them (in) ridicule Those for them (is) a punishment humiliating

Verse 10

مِّنminBefore them
وَرَآئِهِمْwarāihimBefore them
جَهَنَّمُ ۖjahannamu(is) Hell
وَلَاwalāand not
يُغْنِىyugh'nīwill avail
عَنْهُمʿanhumthem
مَّاmāwhat
كَسَبُوا۟kasabūthey had earned
شَيْـًۭٔاshayananything
وَلَاwalāand not
مَاmāwhat
ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ittakhadhūthey had taken
مِنminbesides
دُونِdūnibesides
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
أَوْلِيَآءَ ۖawliyāa(as) protectors
وَلَهُمْwalahumAnd for them
عَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat

Translation

Before them Before them (is) Hell and not will avail them what they had earned anything and not what they had taken besides besides Allah (as) protectors And for them (is) a punishment great

Verse 11

هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
هُدًۭى ۖhudan(is) guidance
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those who
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieve
بِـَٔايَـٰتِbiāyātiin (the) Verses
رَبِّهِمْrabbihim(of) their Lord
لَهُمْlahumfor them
عَذَابٌۭʿadhābun(is) a punishment
مِّنminof
رِّجْزٍrij'zinfilth
أَلِيمٌalīmunpainful

Translation

This (is) guidance And those who disbelieve in (the) Verses (of) their Lord for them (is) a punishment of filth painful

Verse 12

۞ ٱللَّهُal-lahuAllah
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
سَخَّرَsakharasubjected
لَكُمُlakumuto you
ٱلْبَحْرَl-baḥrathe sea
لِتَجْرِىَlitajriyathat may sail
ٱلْفُلْكُl-ful'kuthe ships
فِيهِfīhitherein
بِأَمْرِهِۦbi-amrihiby His Command
وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟walitabtaghūand that you may seek
مِنminof
فَضْلِهِۦfaḍlihiHis Bounty
وَلَعَلَّكُمْwalaʿallakumand that you may
تَشْكُرُونَtashkurūnagive thanks

Translation

Allah (is) the One Who subjected to you the sea that may sail the ships therein by His Command and that you may seek of His Bounty and that you may give thanks

Verse 13

وَسَخَّرَwasakharaAnd He has subjected
لَكُمlakumto you
مَّاmāwhatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَمَاwamāand whatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
جَمِيعًۭاjamīʿanall
مِّنْهُ ۚmin'hufrom Him
إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢlaāyātinsurely are Signs
لِّقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يَتَفَكَّرُونَyatafakkarūnawho give thought

Translation

And He has subjected to you whatever (is) in the heavens and whatever (is) in the earth all from Him Indeed in that surely are Signs for a people who give thought

Verse 14

قُلqulSay
لِّلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
يَغْفِرُوا۟yaghfirū(to) forgive
لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnathose who
لَاlā(do) not
يَرْجُونَyarjūnahope
أَيَّامَayyāma(for the) days
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
لِيَجْزِىَliyajziyathat He may recompense
قَوْمًۢاqawmana people
بِمَاbimāfor what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearn

Translation

Say to those who believe (to) forgive those who (do) not hope (for the) days (of) Allah that He may recompense a people for what they used to earn

Verse 15

مَنْmanWhoever
عَمِلَʿamiladoes
صَـٰلِحًۭاṣāliḥana righteous deed
فَلِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖfalinafsihithen it is for his soul
وَمَنْwamanand whoever
أَسَآءَasāadoes evil
فَعَلَيْهَا ۖfaʿalayhāthen it (is) against it
ثُمَّthummaThen
إِلَىٰilāto
رَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lord
تُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned

Translation

Whoever does a righteous deed then it is for his soul and whoever does evil then it (is) against it Then to your Lord you will be returned

Verse 16

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainly
ءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gave
بَنِىٓbanī(the) Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(the) Children of Israel
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
وَٱلْحُكْمَwal-ḥuk'maand the wisdom
وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَwal-nubuwataand the Prophethood
وَرَزَقْنَـٰهُمwarazaqnāhumand We provided them
مِّنَminaof
ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِl-ṭayibātithe good things
وَفَضَّلْنَـٰهُمْwafaḍḍalnāhumand We preferred them
عَلَىʿalāover
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds

Translation

And certainly We gave (the) Children of Israel (the) Children of Israel the Book and the wisdom and the Prophethood and We provided them of the good things and We preferred them over the worlds

Verse 17

وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمwaātaynāhumAnd We gave them
بَيِّنَـٰتٍۢbayyinātinclear proofs
مِّنَminaof
ٱلْأَمْرِ ۖl-amrithe matter
فَمَاfamāAnd not
ٱخْتَلَفُوٓا۟ikh'talafūthey differed
إِلَّاillāexcept
مِنۢminafter
بَعْدِbaʿdiafter
مَاmā[what]
جَآءَهُمُjāahumucame to them
ٱلْعِلْمُl-ʿil'muthe knowledge
بَغْيًۢاbaghyan(out of) envy
بَيْنَهُمْ ۚbaynahumbetween themselves
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
يَقْضِىyaqḍīwill judge
بَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween them
يَوْمَyawma(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
فِيمَاfīmāabout what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
فِيهِfīhitherein
يَخْتَلِفُونَyakhtalifūnadiffer

Translation

And We gave them clear proofs of the matter And not they differed except after after [what] came to them the knowledge (out of) envy between themselves Indeed your Lord will judge between them (on the) Day (of) the Resurrection about what they used to therein differ

Verse 18

ثُمَّthummaThen
جَعَلْنَـٰكَjaʿalnākaWe put you
عَلَىٰʿalāon
شَرِيعَةٍۢsharīʿatinan ordained way
مِّنَminaof
ٱلْأَمْرِl-amrithe matter
فَٱتَّبِعْهَاfa-ittabiʿ'hāso follow it
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَتَّبِعْtattabiʿfollow
أَهْوَآءَahwāa(the) desires
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
لَاlā(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow

Translation

Then We put you on an ordained way of the matter so follow it and (do) not follow (the) desires (of) those who (do) not know

Verse 19

إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, they
لَنlannever
يُغْنُوا۟yugh'nūwill avail
عَنكَʿankayou
مِنَminaagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
شَيْـًۭٔا ۚshayan(in) anything
وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
بَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumsome of them
أَوْلِيَآءُawliyāu(are) allies
بَعْضٍۢ ۖbaʿḍin(of) others
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuand Allah
وَلِىُّwaliyyu(is the) Protector
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīna(of) the righteous

Translation

Indeed, they never will avail you against Allah (in) anything And indeed the wrongdoers some of them (are) allies (of) others and Allah (is the) Protector (of) the righteous

Verse 20

هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
بَصَـٰٓئِرُbaṣāiru(is) enlightenment
لِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor mankind
وَهُدًۭىwahudanand guidance
وَرَحْمَةٌۭwaraḥmatunand mercy
لِّقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يُوقِنُونَyūqinūnawho are certain

Translation

This (is) enlightenment for mankind and guidance and mercy for a people who are certain

Verse 21

أَمْamDo
حَسِبَḥasibathink
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ٱجْتَرَحُوا۟ij'taraḥūcommit
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِl-sayiātievil deeds
أَنanthat
نَّجْعَلَهُمْnajʿalahumWe will make them
كَٱلَّذِينَka-alladhīnalike those who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieved
وَعَمِلُوا۟waʿamilūand did
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deeds
سَوَآءًۭsawāanequal
مَّحْيَاهُمْmaḥyāhum(in) their life
وَمَمَاتُهُمْ ۚwamamātuhumand their death
سَآءَsāaEvil is
مَاmāwhat
يَحْكُمُونَyaḥkumūnathey judge

Translation

Do think those who commit evil deeds that We will make them like those who believed and did righteous deeds equal (in) their life and their death Evil is what they judge

Verse 22

وَخَلَقَwakhalaqaAnd Allah created
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earth
بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truth
وَلِتُجْزَىٰwalituj'zāand that may be recompensed
كُلُّkulluevery
نَفْسٍۭnafsinsoul
بِمَاbimāfor what
كَسَبَتْkasabatit has earned
وَهُمْwahumand they
لَاlāwill not be wronged
يُظْلَمُونَyuẓ'lamūnawill not be wronged

Translation

And Allah created And Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth and that may be recompensed every soul for what it has earned and they will not be wronged will not be wronged

Verse 23

أَفَرَءَيْتَafara-aytaHave you seen
مَنِmani(he) who
ٱتَّخَذَittakhadhatakes
إِلَـٰهَهُۥilāhahu(as) his god
هَوَىٰهُhawāhuhis desire
وَأَضَلَّهُwa-aḍallahuand Allah lets him go astray
ٱللَّهُl-lahuand Allah lets him go astray
عَلَىٰʿalāknowingly
عِلْمٍۢʿil'minknowingly
وَخَتَمَwakhatamaand He sets a seal
عَلَىٰʿalāupon
سَمْعِهِۦsamʿihihis hearing
وَقَلْبِهِۦwaqalbihiand his heart
وَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand puts
عَلَىٰʿalāover
بَصَرِهِۦbaṣarihihis vision
غِشَـٰوَةًۭghishāwatana veil
فَمَنfamanThen who
يَهْدِيهِyahdīhiwill guide him
مِنۢminafter
بَعْدِbaʿdiafter
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllah
أَفَلَاafalāThen will not
تَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnayou receive admonition

Translation

Have you seen (he) who takes (as) his god his desire and Allah lets him go astray and Allah lets him go astray knowingly knowingly and He sets a seal upon his hearing and his heart and puts over his vision a veil Then who will guide him after after Allah Then will not you receive admonition

Verse 24

وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they say
مَاmāNot
هِىَhiyait
إِلَّاillā(is) but
حَيَاتُنَاḥayātunāour life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
نَمُوتُnamūtuwe die
وَنَحْيَاwanaḥyāand we live
وَمَاwamāand not
يُهْلِكُنَآyuh'likunādestroys us
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلدَّهْرُ ۚl-dahruthe time
وَمَاwamāAnd not
لَهُمlahumfor them
بِذَٰلِكَbidhālikaof that
مِنْminany
عِلْمٍ ۖʿil'minknowledge
إِنْinnot
هُمْhumthey
إِلَّاillā(do) but
يَظُنُّونَyaẓunnūnaguess

Translation

And they say Not it (is) but our life (of) the world we die and we live and not destroys us except the time And not for them of that any knowledge not they (do) but guess

Verse 25

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
تُتْلَىٰtut'lāare recited
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto them
ءَايَـٰتُنَاāyātunāOur Verses
بَيِّنَـٰتٍۢbayyinātinclear
مَّاmānot
كَانَkānais
حُجَّتَهُمْḥujjatahumtheir argument
إِلَّآillāexcept
أَنanthat
قَالُوا۟qālūthey say
ٱئْتُوا۟i'tūBring
بِـَٔابَآئِنَآbiābāināour forefathers
إِنinif
كُنتُمْkuntumyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful

Translation

And when are recited to them Our Verses clear not is their argument except that they say Bring our forefathers if you are truthful

Verse 26

قُلِquliSay
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
يُحْيِيكُمْyuḥ'yīkumgives you life
ثُمَّthummathen
يُمِيتُكُمْyumītukumcauses you to die
ثُمَّthummathen
يَجْمَعُكُمْyajmaʿukumHe will gather you
إِلَىٰilāto
يَوْمِyawmi(the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
لَاlāno
رَيْبَraybadoubt
فِيهِfīhiabout it
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnaBut
أَكْثَرَaktharamost
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the people
لَاlā(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow

Translation

Say Allah gives you life then causes you to die then He will gather you to (the) Day (of) the Resurrection no doubt about it But most (of) the people (do) not know

Verse 27

وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allah
مُلْكُmul'ku(is the) dominion
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚwal-arḍiand the earth
وَيَوْمَwayawmaand (the) Day
تَقُومُtaqūmuis established
ٱلسَّاعَةُl-sāʿatuthe Hour
يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhinthat Day
يَخْسَرُyakhsaruwill lose
ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَl-mub'ṭilūnathe falsifiers

Translation

And for Allah (is the) dominion (of) the heavens and the earth and (the) Day is established the Hour that Day will lose the falsifiers

Verse 28

وَتَرَىٰwatarāAnd you will see
كُلَّkullaevery
أُمَّةٍۢummatinnation
جَاثِيَةًۭ ۚjāthiyatankneeling
كُلُّkulluEvery
أُمَّةٍۢummatinnation
تُدْعَىٰٓtud'ʿāwill be called
إِلَىٰilāto
كِتَـٰبِهَاkitābihāits record
ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmaToday
تُجْزَوْنَtuj'zawnayou will be recompensed
مَاmā(for) what
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado

Translation

And you will see every nation kneeling Every nation will be called to its record Today you will be recompensed (for) what you used to do

Verse 29

هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
كِتَـٰبُنَاkitābunāOur Record
يَنطِقُyanṭiquspeaks
عَلَيْكُمʿalaykumabout you
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚbil-ḥaqiin truth
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
كُنَّاkunnā[We] used to
نَسْتَنسِخُnastansikhutranscribe
مَاmāwhat
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado

Translation

This Our Record speaks about you in truth Indeed, We [We] used to transcribe what you used to do

Verse 30

فَأَمَّاfa-ammāThen as for
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieved
وَعَمِلُوا۟waʿamilūand did
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥāti[the] righteous deeds
فَيُدْخِلُهُمْfayud'khiluhumwill admit them
رَبُّهُمْrabbuhumtheir Lord
فِىfīin(to)
رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚraḥmatihiHis mercy
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
هُوَhuwa[it]
ٱلْفَوْزُl-fawzu(is) the success
ٱلْمُبِينُl-mubīnuclear

Translation

Then as for those who believed and did [the] righteous deeds will admit them their Lord in(to) His mercy That [it] (is) the success clear

Verse 31

وَأَمَّاwa-ammāBut as for
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوٓا۟kafarūdisbelieved
أَفَلَمْafalamThen were not
تَكُنْtakunThen were not
ءَايَـٰتِىāyātīMy Verses
تُتْلَىٰtut'lārecited
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto you
فَٱسْتَكْبَرْتُمْfa-is'takbartumbut you were proud
وَكُنتُمْwakuntumand you became
قَوْمًۭاqawmana people
مُّجْرِمِينَmuj'rimīnacriminals

Translation

But as for those who disbelieved Then were not Then were not My Verses recited to you but you were proud and you became a people criminals

Verse 32

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
قِيلَqīlait was said
إِنَّinnaIndeed
وَعْدَwaʿda(the) Promise
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
حَقٌّۭḥaqqun(is) true
وَٱلسَّاعَةُwal-sāʿatuand the Hour
لَاlā(there is) no
رَيْبَraybadoubt
فِيهَاfīhāabout it
قُلْتُمqul'tumyou said
مَّاmāNot
نَدْرِىnadrīwe know
مَاmāwhat
ٱلسَّاعَةُl-sāʿatuthe Hour (is)
إِنinNot
نَّظُنُّnaẓunnuwe think
إِلَّاillāexcept
ظَنًّۭاẓannanan assumption
وَمَاwamāand not
نَحْنُnaḥnuwe
بِمُسْتَيْقِنِينَbimus'tayqinīna(are) convinced

Translation

And when it was said Indeed (the) Promise (of) Allah (is) true and the Hour (there is) no doubt about it you said Not we know what the Hour (is) Not we think except an assumption and not we (are) convinced

Verse 33

وَبَدَاwabadāAnd (will) appear
لَهُمْlahumto them
سَيِّـَٔاتُsayyiātu(the) evil
مَاmā(of) what
عَمِلُوا۟ʿamilūthey did
وَحَاقَwaḥāqaand (will) envelop
بِهِمbihimthem
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used
بِهِۦbihi[at it]
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūna(to) mock

Translation

And (will) appear to them (the) evil (of) what they did and (will) envelop them what they used [at it] (to) mock

Verse 34

وَقِيلَwaqīlaAnd it will be said
ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmaToday
نَنسَىٰكُمْnansākumWe forget you
كَمَاkamāas
نَسِيتُمْnasītumyou forgot
لِقَآءَliqāa(the) meeting
يَوْمِكُمْyawmikum(of) this Day of yours
هَـٰذَاhādhā(of) this Day of yours
وَمَأْوَىٰكُمُwamawākumuand your abode
ٱلنَّارُl-nāru(is) the Fire
وَمَاwamāand not
لَكُمlakumfor you
مِّنminany
نَّـٰصِرِينَnāṣirīnahelpers

Translation

And it will be said Today We forget you as you forgot (the) meeting (of) this Day of yours (of) this Day of yours and your abode (is) the Fire and not for you any helpers

Verse 35

ذَٰلِكُمdhālikumThat
بِأَنَّكُمُbi-annakumu(is) because you
ٱتَّخَذْتُمْittakhadhtumtook
ءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Verses
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
هُزُوًۭاhuzuwan(in) ridicule
وَغَرَّتْكُمُwagharratkumuand deceived you
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُl-ḥayatuthe life
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚl-dun'yā(of) the world
فَٱلْيَوْمَfal-yawmaSo this Day
لَاlānot
يُخْرَجُونَyukh'rajūnathey will be brought forth
مِنْهَاmin'hāfrom it
وَلَاwalāand not
هُمْhumthey
يُسْتَعْتَبُونَyus'taʿtabūnawill be asked to appease

Translation

That (is) because you took (the) Verses (of) Allah (in) ridicule and deceived you the life (of) the world So this Day not they will be brought forth from it and not they will be asked to appease

Verse 36

فَلِلَّهِfalillahiThen for Allah
ٱلْحَمْدُl-ḥamdu(is) all the praise
رَبِّrabbi(the) Lord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَرَبِّwarabbiand (the) Lord
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍi(of) the earth
رَبِّrabbi(the) lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

Translation

Then for Allah (is) all the praise (the) Lord (of) the heavens and (the) Lord (of) the earth (the) lord (of) the worlds

Verse 37

وَلَهُwalahuAnd for Him
ٱلْكِبْرِيَآءُl-kib'riyāu(is) the greatness
فِىfīin
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖwal-arḍiand the earth
وَهُوَwahuwaand He
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise

Translation

And for Him (is) the greatness in the heavens and the earth and He (is) the All-Mighty the All-Wise
