Verse 1

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُal-raḥmānuThe Most Gracious

Translation

The Most Gracious

Verse 2

عَلَّمَʿallamaHe taught
ٱلْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe Quran

Translation

He taught the Quran

Verse 3

خَلَقَkhalaqaHe created
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insāna[the] man

Translation

He created [the] man

Verse 4

عَلَّمَهُʿallamahuHe taught him
ٱلْبَيَانَl-bayāna[the] speech

Translation

He taught him [the] speech

Verse 5

ٱلشَّمْسُal-shamsuThe sun
وَٱلْقَمَرُwal-qamaruand the moon
بِحُسْبَانٍۢbiḥus'bāninby (precise) calculation

Translation

The sun and the moon by (precise) calculation

Verse 6

وَٱلنَّجْمُwal-najmuAnd the stars
وَٱلشَّجَرُwal-shajaruand the trees
يَسْجُدَانِyasjudāniboth prostrate

Translation

And the stars and the trees both prostrate

Verse 7

وَٱلسَّمَآءَwal-samāaAnd the heaven
رَفَعَهَاrafaʿahāHe raised it
وَوَضَعَwawaḍaʿaand He has set up
ٱلْمِيزَانَl-mīzānathe balance

Translation

And the heaven He raised it and He has set up the balance

Verse 8

أَلَّاallāThat not
تَطْغَوْا۟taṭghawyou may transgress
فِىin
ٱلْمِيزَانِl-mīzānithe balance

Translation

That not you may transgress in the balance

Verse 9

وَأَقِيمُوا۟wa-aqīmūAnd establish
ٱلْوَزْنَl-waznathe weight
بِٱلْقِسْطِbil-qis'ṭiin justice
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تُخْسِرُوا۟tukh'sirūmake deficient
ٱلْمِيزَانَl-mīzānathe balance

Translation

And establish the weight in justice and (do) not make deficient the balance

Verse 10

وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaAnd the earth
وَضَعَهَاwaḍaʿahāHe laid it
لِلْأَنَامِlil'anāmifor the creatures

Translation

And the earth He laid it for the creatures

Verse 11

فِيهَاfīhāTherein
فَـٰكِهَةٌۭfākihatun(is) fruit
وَٱلنَّخْلُwal-nakhluand date-palms
ذَاتُdhātuhaving
ٱلْأَكْمَامِl-akmāmisheaths

Translation

Therein (is) fruit and date-palms having sheaths

Verse 12

وَٱلْحَبُّwal-ḥabuAnd the grain
ذُوdhūhaving
ٱلْعَصْفِl-ʿaṣfihusk
وَٱلرَّيْحَانُwal-rayḥānuand scented plants

Translation

And the grain having husk and scented plants

Verse 13

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 14

خَلَقَkhalaqaHe created
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insānathe man
مِنminfrom
صَلْصَـٰلٍۢṣalṣālinclay
كَٱلْفَخَّارِkal-fakhārilike the pottery

Translation

He created the man from clay like the pottery

Verse 15

وَخَلَقَwakhalaqaAnd He created
ٱلْجَآنَّl-jānathe jinn
مِنminfrom
مَّارِجٍۢmārijina smokeless flame
مِّنminof
نَّارٍۢnārinfire

Translation

And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire

Verse 16

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 17

رَبُّrabbuLord
ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِl-mashriqayni(of) the two Easts
وَرَبُّwarabbuand Lord
ٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِl-maghribayni(of) the two Wests

Translation

Lord (of) the two Easts and Lord (of) the two Wests

Verse 18

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 19

مَرَجَmarajaHe released
ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِl-baḥraynithe two seas
يَلْتَقِيَانِyaltaqiyānimeeting

Translation

He released the two seas meeting

Verse 20

بَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumāBetween both of them
بَرْزَخٌۭbarzakhun(is) a barrier
لَّاnot
يَبْغِيَانِyabghiyānithey transgress

Translation

Between both of them (is) a barrier not they transgress

Verse 21

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 22

يَخْرُجُyakhrujuCome forth
مِنْهُمَاmin'humāfrom both of them
ٱللُّؤْلُؤُl-lu'lu-uthe pearl
وَٱلْمَرْجَانُwal-marjānuand the coral

Translation

Come forth from both of them the pearl and the coral

Verse 23

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 24

وَلَهُwalahuAnd for Him
ٱلْجَوَارِl-jawāri(are) the ships
ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُl-munshaātuelevated
فِىin
ٱلْبَحْرِl-baḥrithe sea
كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِkal-aʿlāmilike mountains

Translation

And for Him (are) the ships elevated in the sea like mountains

Verse 25

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 26

كُلُّkulluEveryone
مَنْmanwho
عَلَيْهَاʿalayhā(is) on it
فَانٍۢfānin(will) perish

Translation

Everyone who (is) on it (will) perish

Verse 27

وَيَبْقَىٰwayabqāBut will remain
وَجْهُwajhu(the) Face
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
ذُوdhū(the) Owner
ٱلْجَلَـٰلِl-jalāli(of) Majesty
وَٱلْإِكْرَامِwal-ik'rāmiand Honor

Translation

But will remain (the) Face (of) your Lord (the) Owner (of) Majesty and Honor

Verse 28

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 29

يَسْـَٔلُهُۥyasaluhuAsks Him
مَنmanwhoever
فِى(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚwal-arḍiand the earth
كُلَّkullaEvery
يَوْمٍyawminday
هُوَhuwaHe
فِى(is) in
شَأْنٍۢshanina matter

Translation

Asks Him whoever (is) in the heavens and the earth Every day He (is) in a matter

Verse 30

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 31

سَنَفْرُغُsanafrughuSoon We will attend
لَكُمْlakumto you
أَيُّهَayyuhaO you
ٱلثَّقَلَانِl-thaqalānitwo classes

Translation

Soon We will attend to you O you two classes

Verse 32

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 33

يَـٰمَعْشَرَyāmaʿsharaO assembly
ٱلْجِنِّl-jini(of) the jinn
وَٱلْإِنسِwal-insiand the men
إِنِiniIf
ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْis'taṭaʿtumyou are able
أَنanto
تَنفُذُوا۟tanfudhūpass beyond
مِنْmin[of]
أَقْطَارِaqṭāri(the) regions
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
فَٱنفُذُوا۟ ۚfa-unfudhūthen pass
لَاNot
تَنفُذُونَtanfudhūnayou (can) pass
إِلَّاillāexcept
بِسُلْطَـٰنٍۢbisul'ṭāninby authority

Translation

O assembly (of) the jinn and the men If you are able to pass beyond [of] (the) regions (of) the heavens and the earth then pass Not you (can) pass except by authority

Verse 34

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 35

يُرْسَلُyur'saluWill be sent
عَلَيْكُمَاʿalaykumāagainst both of you
شُوَاظٌۭshuwāẓuna flame
مِّنminof
نَّارٍۢnārinfire
وَنُحَاسٌۭwanuḥāsunand smoke
فَلَاfalāand not
تَنتَصِرَانِtantaṣirāniyou will (be able to) defend yourselves

Translation

Will be sent against both of you a flame of fire and smoke and not you will (be able to) defend yourselves

Verse 36

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 37

فَإِذَاfa-idhāThen when
ٱنشَقَّتِinshaqqatiis split
ٱلسَّمَآءُl-samāuthe heaven
فَكَانَتْfakānatand it becomes
وَرْدَةًۭwardatanrose-colored
كَٱلدِّهَانِkal-dihānilike murky oil

Translation

Then when is split the heaven and it becomes rose-colored like murky oil

Verse 38

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 39

فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢfayawma-idhinThen (on) that Day
لَّاnot
يُسْـَٔلُyus'aluwill be asked
عَنʿanabout
ذَنۢبِهِۦٓdhanbihihis sin
إِنسٌۭinsunany man
وَلَاwalāand not
جَآنٌّۭjānnunany jinn

Translation

Then (on) that Day not will be asked about his sin any man and not any jinn

Verse 40

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 41

يُعْرَفُyuʿ'rafuWill be known
ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَl-muj'rimūnathe criminals
بِسِيمَـٰهُمْbisīmāhumby their marks
فَيُؤْخَذُfayu'khadhuand will be seized
بِٱلنَّوَٰصِىbil-nawāṣīby the forelocks
وَٱلْأَقْدَامِwal-aqdāmiand the feet

Translation

Will be known the criminals by their marks and will be seized by the forelocks and the feet

Verse 42

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 43

هَـٰذِهِۦhādhihiThis
جَهَنَّمُjahannamu(is) Hell
ٱلَّتِىallatīwhich
يُكَذِّبُyukadhibudeny
بِهَاbihā[of it]
ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَl-muj'rimūnathe criminals

Translation

This (is) Hell which deny [of it] the criminals

Verse 44

يَطُوفُونَyaṭūfūnaThey will go around
بَيْنَهَاbaynahābetween it
وَبَيْنَwabaynaand between
حَمِيمٍḥamīminscalding water
ءَانٍۢāninheated

Translation

They will go around between it and between scalding water heated

Verse 45

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 46

وَلِمَنْwalimanBut for (him) who
خَافَkhāfafears
مَقَامَmaqāma(the) standing
رَبِّهِۦrabbihi(before) his Lord
جَنَّتَانِjannatāni(are) two gardens

Translation

But for (him) who fears (the) standing (before) his Lord (are) two gardens

Verse 47

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 48

ذَوَاتَآdhawātāHaving
أَفْنَانٍۢafnāninbranches

Translation

Having branches

Verse 49

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 50

فِيهِمَاfīhimāIn both of them
عَيْنَانِʿaynāni(are) two springs
تَجْرِيَانِtajriyāniflowing

Translation

In both of them (are) two springs flowing

Verse 51

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 52

فِيهِمَاfīhimāIn both of them
مِنmin[of]
كُلِّkulli(are) every
فَـٰكِهَةٍۢfākihatinfruits
زَوْجَانِzawjāni(in) pairs

Translation

In both of them [of] (are) every fruits (in) pairs

Verse 53

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 54

مُتَّكِـِٔينَmuttakiīnaReclining
عَلَىٰʿalāon
فُرُشٍۭfurushincouches
بَطَآئِنُهَاbaṭāinuhā(whose) inner linings
مِنْmin(are) of
إِسْتَبْرَقٍۢ ۚis'tabraqinbrocade
وَجَنَىwajanāand (the) fruit
ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِl-janatayni(of) both the gardens
دَانٍۢdānin(is) near

Translation

Reclining on couches (whose) inner linings (are) of brocade and (the) fruit (of) both the gardens (is) near

Verse 55

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 56

فِيهِنَّfīhinnaIn them
قَـٰصِرَٰتُqāṣirātu(will be) companions of modest gaze
ٱلطَّرْفِl-ṭarfi(will be) companions of modest gaze
لَمْlamnot
يَطْمِثْهُنَّyaṭmith'hunnahas touched them
إِنسٌۭinsunany man
قَبْلَهُمْqablahumbefore them
وَلَاwalāand not
جَآنٌّۭjānnunany jinn

Translation

In them (will be) companions of modest gaze (will be) companions of modest gaze not has touched them any man before them and not any jinn

Verse 57

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 58

كَأَنَّهُنَّka-annahunnaAs if they were
ٱلْيَاقُوتُl-yāqūturubies
وَٱلْمَرْجَانُwal-marjānuand coral

Translation

As if they were rubies and coral

Verse 59

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 60

هَلْhalIs
جَزَآءُjazāu(the) reward
ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِl-iḥ'sānifor the good
إِلَّاillābut
ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنُl-iḥ'sānugood

Translation

Is (the) reward for the good but good

Verse 61

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 62

وَمِنwaminBesides these two
دُونِهِمَاdūnihimāBesides these two
جَنَّتَانِjannatāni(are) two gardens

Translation

Besides these two Besides these two (are) two gardens

Verse 63

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 64

مُدْهَآمَّتَانِmud'hāmmatāniDark green

Translation

Dark green

Verse 65

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 66

فِيهِمَاfīhimāIn both of them
عَيْنَانِʿaynāni(are) two springs
نَضَّاخَتَانِnaḍḍākhatānigushing forth

Translation

In both of them (are) two springs gushing forth

Verse 67

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 68

فِيهِمَاfīhimāIn both of them
فَـٰكِهَةٌۭfākihatun(are) fruits
وَنَخْلٌۭwanakhlunand date-palms
وَرُمَّانٌۭwarummānunand pomegranates

Translation

In both of them (are) fruits and date-palms and pomegranates

Verse 69

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 70

فِيهِنَّfīhinnaIn them
خَيْرَٰتٌkhayrātun(are) good
حِسَانٌۭḥisānunand beautiful ones

Translation

In them (are) good and beautiful ones

Verse 71

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 72

حُورٌۭḥūrunFair ones
مَّقْصُورَٰتٌۭmaqṣūrātunrestrained
فِىin
ٱلْخِيَامِl-khiyāmithe pavilions

Translation

Fair ones restrained in the pavilions

Verse 73

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 74

لَمْlamNot
يَطْمِثْهُنَّyaṭmith'hunnahas touched them
إِنسٌۭinsunany man
قَبْلَهُمْqablahumbefore them
وَلَاwalāand not
جَآنٌّۭjānnunany jinn

Translation

Not has touched them any man before them and not any jinn

Verse 75

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 76

مُتَّكِـِٔينَmuttakiīnaReclining
عَلَىٰʿalāon
رَفْرَفٍrafrafincushions
خُضْرٍۢkhuḍ'ringreen
وَعَبْقَرِىٍّwaʿabqariyyinand carpets
حِسَانٍۢḥisāninbeautiful

Translation

Reclining on cushions green and carpets beautiful

Verse 77

فَبِأَىِّfabi-ayyiSo which
ءَالَآءِālāi(of the) favors
رَبِّكُمَاrabbikumā(of) your Lord
تُكَذِّبَانِtukadhibāniwill you both deny

Translation

So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny

Verse 78

تَبَـٰرَكَtabārakaBlessed is
ٱسْمُus'mu(the) name
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
ذِىdhīOwner
ٱلْجَلَـٰلِl-jalāli(of) Majesty
وَٱلْإِكْرَامِwal-ik'rāmiand Honor

Translation

Blessed is (the) name (of) your Lord Owner (of) Majesty and Honor
