Chapter 61Medinan14 Verses

Verse 1

سَبَّحَsabbaḥaGlorifies
لِلَّهِlillahiAllah
مَاmāwhatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَمَاwamāand whatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖl-arḍithe earth
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise

Translation

Glorifies Allah whatever (is) in the heavens and whatever (is) in the earth And He (is) the All-Mighty the All-Wise

Verse 2

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(you) who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
لِمَlimaWhy
تَقُولُونَtaqūlūna(do) you say
مَاmāwhat
لَاlānot
تَفْعَلُونَtafʿalūnayou do

Translation

O (you) who believe Why (do) you say what not you do

Verse 3

كَبُرَkaburaGreat is
مَقْتًاmaqtanhatred
عِندَʿindawith
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
أَنanthat
تَقُولُوا۟taqūlūyou say
مَاmāwhat
لَاlānot
تَفْعَلُونَtafʿalūnayou do

Translation

Great is hatred with Allah that you say what not you do

Verse 4

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
يُحِبُّyuḥibbuloves
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يُقَـٰتِلُونَyuqātilūnafight
فِىfīin
سَبِيلِهِۦsabīlihiHis Way
صَفًّۭاṣaffan(in) a row
كَأَنَّهُمka-annahumas if they
بُنْيَـٰنٌۭbun'yānun(were) a structure
مَّرْصُوصٌۭmarṣūṣunjoined firmly

Translation

Indeed Allah loves those who fight in His Way (in) a row as if they (were) a structure joined firmly

Verse 5

وَإِذْwa-idhAnd when
قَالَqālasaid
مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa
لِقَوْمِهِۦliqawmihito his people
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
لِمَlimaWhy
تُؤْذُونَنِىtu'dhūnanīdo you hurt me
وَقَدwaqadwhile certainly
تَّعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou know
أَنِّىannīthat I am
رَسُولُrasūlu(the) Messenger
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
إِلَيْكُمْ ۖilaykumto you
فَلَمَّاfalammāThen when
زَاغُوٓا۟zāghūthey deviated
أَزَاغَazāgha(was caused to) deviate
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allah
قُلُوبَهُمْ ۚqulūbahumtheir hearts
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
لَاlā(does) not
يَهْدِىyahdīguide
ٱلْقَوْمَl-qawmathe people
ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَl-fāsiqīnathe defiantly disobedient

Translation

And when said Musa to his people O my people Why do you hurt me while certainly you know that I am (the) Messenger (of) Allah to you Then when they deviated (was caused to) deviate (by) Allah their hearts And Allah (does) not guide the people the defiantly disobedient

Verse 6

وَإِذْwa-idhAnd when
قَالَqālasaid
عِيسَىʿīsāIsa
ٱبْنُub'nuson
مَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryam
يَـٰبَنِىٓyābanīO Children
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israel
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
رَسُولُrasūlu(the) Messenger
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
إِلَيْكُمilaykumto you
مُّصَدِّقًۭاmuṣaddiqanconfirming
لِّمَاlimāthat which
بَيْنَbayna(was) between
يَدَىَّyadayyamy hands
مِنَminaof
ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِl-tawrātithe Taurat
وَمُبَشِّرًۢاwamubashiranand bringing glad tidings
بِرَسُولٍۢbirasūlin(of) a Messenger
يَأْتِىyatīto come
مِنۢminfrom
بَعْدِىbaʿdīafter me
ٱسْمُهُۥٓus'muhuwhose name (will be)
أَحْمَدُ ۖaḥmaduAhmad
فَلَمَّاfalammāBut when
جَآءَهُمjāahumhe came to them
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayinātiwith clear proofs
قَالُوا۟qālūthey said
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
سِحْرٌۭsiḥ'run(is) a magic
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclear

Translation

And when said Isa son (of) Maryam O Children (of) Israel Indeed, I am (the) Messenger (of) Allah to you confirming that which (was) between my hands of the Taurat and bringing glad tidings (of) a Messenger to come from after me whose name (will be) Ahmad But when he came to them with clear proofs they said This (is) a magic clear

Verse 7

وَمَنْwamanAnd who
أَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more wrong
مِمَّنِmimmanithan (one) who
ٱفْتَرَىٰif'tarāinvents
عَلَىʿalāupon
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
ٱلْكَذِبَl-kadhibathe lie
وَهُوَwahuwawhile he
يُدْعَىٰٓyud'ʿāis invited
إِلَىilāto
ٱلْإِسْلَـٰمِ ۚl-is'lāmiIslam
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
لَاlā(does) not
يَهْدِىyahdīguide
ٱلْقَوْمَl-qawmathe people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīna[the] wrongdoers

Translation

And who (is) more wrong than (one) who invents upon Allah the lie while he is invited to Islam And Allah (does) not guide the people [the] wrongdoers

Verse 8

يُرِيدُونَyurīdūnaThey intend
لِيُطْفِـُٔوا۟liyuṭ'fiūto put out
نُورَnūra(the) light
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْbi-afwāhihimwith their mouths
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahubut Allah
مُتِمُّmutimmuwill perfect
نُورِهِۦnūrihiHis Light
وَلَوْwalawalthough
كَرِهَkarihadislike
ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَl-kāfirūnathe disbelievers

Translation

They intend to put out (the) light (of) Allah with their mouths but Allah will perfect His Light although dislike the disbelievers

Verse 9

هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhī(is) the One Who
أَرْسَلَarsalasent
رَسُولَهُۥrasūlahuHis Messenger
بِٱلْهُدَىٰbil-hudāwith guidance
وَدِينِwadīniand (the) religion
ٱلْحَقِّl-ḥaqi(of) the truth
لِيُظْهِرَهُۥliyuẓ'hirahuto make it prevail
عَلَىʿalāover
ٱلدِّينِl-dīnithe religion
كُلِّهِۦkullihiall of them
وَلَوْwalawalthough
كَرِهَkarihadislike (it)
ٱلْمُشْرِكُونَl-mush'rikūnathe polytheists

Translation

He (is) the One Who sent His Messenger with guidance and (the) religion (of) the truth to make it prevail over the religion all of them although dislike (it) the polytheists

Verse 10

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(you) who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
هَلْhalShall
أَدُلُّكُمْadullukumI guide you
عَلَىٰʿalāto
تِجَـٰرَةٍۢtijāratina transaction
تُنجِيكُمtunjīkum(that) will save you
مِّنْminfrom
عَذَابٍʿadhābina punishment
أَلِيمٍۢalīminpainful

Translation

O (you) who believe Shall I guide you to a transaction (that) will save you from a punishment painful

Verse 11

تُؤْمِنُونَtu'minūnaBelieve
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦwarasūlihiand His Messenger
وَتُجَـٰهِدُونَwatujāhidūnaand strive
فِىfīin
سَبِيلِsabīli(the) way
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
بِأَمْوَٰلِكُمْbi-amwālikumwith your wealth
وَأَنفُسِكُمْ ۚwa-anfusikumand your lives
ذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumThat
خَيْرٌۭkhayrun(is) better
لَّكُمْlakumfor you
إِنinif
كُنتُمْkuntumyou
تَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow

Translation

Believe in Allah and His Messenger and strive in (the) way (of) Allah with your wealth and your lives That (is) better for you if you know

Verse 12

يَغْفِرْyaghfirHe will forgive
لَكُمْlakumfor you
ذُنُوبَكُمْdhunūbakumyour sins
وَيُدْخِلْكُمْwayud'khil'kumand admit you
جَنَّـٰتٍۢjannātin(in) Gardens
تَجْرِىtajrīflow
مِنminfrom
تَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath it
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُl-anhāruthe rivers
وَمَسَـٰكِنَwamasākinaand dwellings
طَيِّبَةًۭṭayyibatanpleasant
فِىfīin
جَنَّـٰتِjannātiGardens
عَدْنٍۢ ۚʿadnin(of) Eternity
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
ٱلْفَوْزُl-fawzu(is) the success
ٱلْعَظِيمُl-ʿaẓīmuthe great

Translation

He will forgive for you your sins and admit you (in) Gardens flow from underneath it the rivers and dwellings pleasant in Gardens (of) Eternity That (is) the success the great

Verse 13

وَأُخْرَىٰwa-ukh'rāAnd another
تُحِبُّونَهَا ۖtuḥibbūnahāthat you love
نَصْرٌۭnaṣruna help
مِّنَminafrom
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
وَفَتْحٌۭwafatḥunand a victory
قَرِيبٌۭ ۗqarībunnear
وَبَشِّرِwabashiriand give glad tidings
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(to) the believers

Translation

And another that you love a help from Allah and a victory near and give glad tidings (to) the believers

Verse 14

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawho
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
كُونُوٓا۟kūnūBe
أَنصَارَanṣārahelpers
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
كَمَاkamāas
قَالَqālasaid
عِيسَىʿīsāIsa
ٱبْنُub'nuson
مَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryam
لِلْحَوَارِيِّـۧنَlil'ḥawāriyyīnato the disciples
مَنْmanWho
أَنصَارِىٓanṣārī(are) my helpers
إِلَىilāfor
ٱللَّهِ ۖl-lahiAllah
قَالَqālaSaid
ٱلْحَوَارِيُّونَl-ḥawāriyūnathe disciples
نَحْنُnaḥnuWe
أَنصَارُanṣāru(are) the helpers
ٱللَّهِ ۖl-lahi(of) Allah
فَـَٔامَنَتfaāmanatThen believed
طَّآئِفَةٌۭṭāifatuna group
مِّنۢminof
بَنِىٓbanīChildren
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israel
وَكَفَرَتwakafaratand disbelieved
طَّآئِفَةٌۭ ۖṭāifatuna group
فَأَيَّدْنَاfa-ayyadnāSo We supported
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieved
عَلَىٰʿalāagainst
عَدُوِّهِمْʿaduwwihimtheir enemy
فَأَصْبَحُوا۟fa-aṣbaḥūand they became
ظَـٰهِرِينَẓāhirīnadominant

Translation

O you who believe Be helpers (of) Allah as said Isa son (of) Maryam to the disciples Who (are) my helpers for Allah Said the disciples We (are) the helpers (of) Allah Then believed a group of Children (of) Israel and disbelieved a group So We supported those who believed against their enemy and they became dominant
