Chapter 62Medinan11 Verses

Verse 1

يُسَبِّحُyusabbiḥuGlorifies
لِلَّهِlillahiAllah
مَاmāwhatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَمَاwamāand whatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
ٱلْمَلِكِl-malikithe Sovereign
ٱلْقُدُّوسِl-qudūsithe Holy
ٱلْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzithe All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمِl-ḥakīmithe All-Wise

Translation

Glorifies Allah whatever (is) in the heavens and whatever (is) in the earth the Sovereign the Holy the All-Mighty the All-Wise

Verse 2

هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
بَعَثَbaʿathasent
فِىfīamong
ٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَl-umiyīnathe unlettered
رَسُولًۭاrasūlana Messenger
مِّنْهُمْmin'humfrom themselves
يَتْلُوا۟yatlūreciting
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto them
ءَايَـٰتِهِۦāyātihiHis Verses
وَيُزَكِّيهِمْwayuzakkīhimand purifying them
وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُwayuʿallimuhumuand teaching them
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
وَٱلْحِكْمَةَwal-ḥik'mataand the wisdom
وَإِنwa-inalthough
كَانُوا۟kānūthey were
مِنminfrom
قَبْلُqablubefore
لَفِىlafīsurely in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢḍalālinan error
مُّبِينٍۢmubīninclear

Translation

He (is) the One Who sent among the unlettered a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His Verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book and the wisdom although they were from before surely in an error clear

Verse 3

وَءَاخَرِينَwaākharīnaAnd others
مِنْهُمْmin'humamong them
لَمَّاlammāwho have not yet
يَلْحَقُوا۟yalḥaqūjoined
بِهِمْ ۚbihimthem
وَهُوَwahuwaand He
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise

Translation

And others among them who have not yet joined them and He (is) the All-Mighty the All-Wise

Verse 4

ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
فَضْلُfaḍlu(is the) Bounty
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
يُؤْتِيهِyu'tīhiHe gives it
مَنman(to) whom
يَشَآءُ ۚyashāuHe wills
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
ذُوdhū(is the) Possessor
ٱلْفَضْلِl-faḍli(of) Bounty
ٱلْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe Great

Translation

That (is the) Bounty (of) Allah He gives it (to) whom He wills And Allah (is the) Possessor (of) Bounty the Great

Verse 5

مَثَلُmathalu(The) likeness
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
حُمِّلُوا۟ḥummilūwere entrusted
ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَl-tawrāta(with) the Taurat
ثُمَّthummathen
لَمْlamnot
يَحْمِلُوهَاyaḥmilūhāthey bore it
كَمَثَلِkamathali(is) like
ٱلْحِمَارِl-ḥimārithe donkey
يَحْمِلُyaḥmiluwho carries
أَسْفَارًۢا ۚasfāranbooks
بِئْسَbi'saWretched is
مَثَلُmathalu(the) example
ٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmi(of) the people
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawho
كَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūdeny
بِـَٔايَـٰتِbiāyāti(the) Signs
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi(of) Allah
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
لَاlā(does) not
يَهْدِىyahdīguide
ٱلْقَوْمَl-qawmathe people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers

Translation

(The) likeness (of) those who were entrusted (with) the Taurat then not they bore it (is) like the donkey who carries books Wretched is (the) example (of) the people who deny (the) Signs (of) Allah And Allah (does) not guide the people the wrongdoers

Verse 6

قُلْqulSay
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnayou (who)
هَادُوٓا۟hādū(are) Jews
إِنinIf
زَعَمْتُمْzaʿamtumyou claim
أَنَّكُمْannakumthat you
أَوْلِيَآءُawliyāu(are) allies
لِلَّهِlillahiof Allah
مِنminfrom
دُونِdūniexcluding
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsithe people
فَتَمَنَّوُا۟fatamannawūthen wish
ٱلْمَوْتَl-mawta(for) the death
إِنinif
كُنتُمْkuntumyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful

Translation

Say O you (who) (are) Jews If you claim that you (are) allies of Allah from excluding the people then wish (for) the death if you are truthful

Verse 7

وَلَاwalāBut not
يَتَمَنَّوْنَهُۥٓyatamannawnahuthey will wish for it
أَبَدًۢاabadanever
بِمَاbimāfor what
قَدَّمَتْqaddamat(have) sent forth
أَيْدِيهِمْ ۚaydīhimtheir hands
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
عَلِيمٌۢʿalīmun(is) All-Knowing
بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَbil-ẓālimīnaof the wrongdoers

Translation

But not they will wish for it ever for what (have) sent forth their hands And Allah (is) All-Knowing of the wrongdoers

Verse 8

قُلْqulSay
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلْمَوْتَl-mawtathe death
ٱلَّذِىalladhīwhich
تَفِرُّونَtafirrūnayou flee
مِنْهُmin'hufrom it
فَإِنَّهُۥfa-innahuthen surely it
مُلَـٰقِيكُمْ ۖmulāqīkum(will) meet you
ثُمَّthummaThen
تُرَدُّونَturaddūnayou will be sent back
إِلَىٰilāto
عَـٰلِمِʿālimi(the) All-Knower
ٱلْغَيْبِl-ghaybi(of) the unseen
وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِwal-shahādatiand the witnessed
فَيُنَبِّئُكُمfayunabbi-ukumand He will inform you
بِمَاbimā[of] what
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado

Translation

Say Indeed the death which you flee from it then surely it (will) meet you Then you will be sent back to (the) All-Knower (of) the unseen and the witnessed and He will inform you [of] what you used to do

Verse 9

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(you) who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanūbelieve
إِذَاidhāWhen
نُودِىَnūdiya(the) call is made
لِلصَّلَوٰةِlilṣṣalatifor (the) prayer
مِنminon
يَوْمِyawmi(the) day
ٱلْجُمُعَةِl-jumuʿati(of) Friday
فَٱسْعَوْا۟fa-is'ʿawthen hasten
إِلَىٰilāto
ذِكْرِdhik'ri(the) remembrance
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
وَذَرُوا۟wadharūand leave
ٱلْبَيْعَ ۚl-bayʿathe business
ذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumThat
خَيْرٌۭkhayrun(is) better
لَّكُمْlakumfor you
إِنinif
كُنتُمْkuntumyou
تَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow

Translation

O (you) who believe When (the) call is made for (the) prayer on (the) day (of) Friday then hasten to (the) remembrance (of) Allah and leave the business That (is) better for you if you know

Verse 10

فَإِذَاfa-idhāThen when
قُضِيَتِquḍiyatiis concluded
ٱلصَّلَوٰةُl-ṣalatuthe prayer
فَٱنتَشِرُوا۟fa-intashirūthen disperse
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe land
وَٱبْتَغُوا۟wa-ib'taghūand seek
مِنminfrom
فَضْلِfaḍli(the) Bounty
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
وَٱذْكُرُوا۟wa-udh'kurūand remember
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
كَثِيرًۭاkathīranmuch
لَّعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
تُفْلِحُونَtuf'liḥūnasucceed

Translation

Then when is concluded the prayer then disperse in the land and seek from (the) Bounty (of) Allah and remember Allah much so that you may succeed

Verse 11

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
رَأَوْا۟ra-awthey saw
تِجَـٰرَةًtijāratana transaction
أَوْawor
لَهْوًاlahwana sport
ٱنفَضُّوٓا۟infaḍḍūthey rushed
إِلَيْهَاilayhāto it
وَتَرَكُوكَwatarakūkaand left you
قَآئِمًۭا ۚqāimanstanding
قُلْqulSay
مَاmāWhat
عِندَʿinda(is) with
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
خَيْرٌۭkhayrun(is) better
مِّنَminathan
ٱللَّهْوِl-lahwithe sport
وَمِنَwaminaand from
ٱلتِّجَـٰرَةِ ۚl-tijārati(any) transaction
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
خَيْرُkhayru(is the) Best
ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَl-rāziqīna(of) the Providers

Translation

And when they saw a transaction or a sport they rushed to it and left you standing Say What (is) with Allah (is) better than the sport and from (any) transaction And Allah (is the) Best (of) the Providers
