The Mansions of the Stars

Chapter 85Meccan22 Verses

Verse 1

وَٱلسَّمَآءِwal-samāiBy the sky
ذَاتِdhāticontaining
ٱلْبُرُوجِl-burūjithe constellations

Translation

By the sky containing the constellations

Verse 2

وَٱلْيَوْمِwal-yawmiAnd the Day
ٱلْمَوْعُودِl-mawʿūdiPromised

Translation

And the Day Promised

Verse 3

وَشَاهِدٍۢwashāhidinAnd (the) witness
وَمَشْهُودٍۢwamashhūdinand what is witnessed

Translation

And (the) witness and what is witnessed

Verse 4

قُتِلَqutilaDestroyed were
أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(the) companions
ٱلْأُخْدُودِl-ukh'dūdi(of) the pit

Translation

Destroyed were (the) companions (of) the pit

Verse 5

ٱلنَّارِal-nāri(Of) the fire
ذَاتِdhātifull
ٱلْوَقُودِl-waqūdi(of) the fuel

Translation

(Of) the fire full (of) the fuel

Verse 6

إِذْidhWhen
هُمْhumthey
عَلَيْهَاʿalayhāby it
قُعُودٌۭquʿūdun(were) sitting

Translation

When they by it (were) sitting

Verse 7

وَهُمْwahumAnd they
عَلَىٰʿalāover
مَاmāwhat
يَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnathey were doing
بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbil-mu'minīnato the believers
شُهُودٌۭshuhūdunwitnesses

Translation

And they over what they were doing to the believers witnesses

Verse 8

وَمَاwamāAnd not
نَقَمُوا۟naqamūthey resented
مِنْهُمْmin'hum[of] them
إِلَّآillāexcept
أَنanthat
يُؤْمِنُوا۟yu'minūthey believed
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allah
ٱلْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzithe All-Mighty
ٱلْحَمِيدِl-ḥamīdithe Praiseworthy

Translation

And not they resented [of] them except that they believed in Allah the All-Mighty the Praiseworthy

Verse 9

ٱلَّذِىalladhīThe One Who
لَهُۥlahufor Him
مُلْكُmul'ku(is) the dominion
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚwal-arḍiand the earth
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuand Allah
عَلَىٰʿalāon
كُلِّkullievery
شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
شَهِيدٌshahīdun(is) a Witness

Translation

The One Who for Him (is) the dominion (of) the heavens and the earth and Allah on every thing (is) a Witness

Verse 10

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
فَتَنُوا۟fatanūpersecuted
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believing men
وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِwal-mu'minātiand the believing women
ثُمَّthummathen
لَمْlamnot
يَتُوبُوا۟yatūbūthey repented
فَلَهُمْfalahumthen for them
عَذَابُʿadhābu(is the) punishment
جَهَنَّمَjahannama(of) Hell
وَلَهُمْwalahumand for them
عَذَابُʿadhābu(is the) punishment
ٱلْحَرِيقِl-ḥarīqi(of) the Burning Fire

Translation

Indeed those who persecuted the believing men and the believing women then not they repented then for them (is the) punishment (of) Hell and for them (is the) punishment (of) the Burning Fire

Verse 11

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
وَعَمِلُوا۟waʿamilūand do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥātithe righteous deeds
لَهُمْlahumfor them
جَنَّـٰتٌۭjannātun(will be) Gardens
تَجْرِىtajrīflow
مِنminfrom
تَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath it
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚl-anhāruthe rivers
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
ٱلْفَوْزُl-fawzu(is) the success
ٱلْكَبِيرُl-kabīruthe great

Translation

Indeed those who believe and do the righteous deeds for them (will be) Gardens flow from underneath it the rivers That (is) the success the great

Verse 12

إِنَّinnaIndeed
بَطْشَbaṭsha(the) Grip
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
لَشَدِيدٌlashadīdun(is) surely strong

Translation

Indeed (the) Grip (of) your Lord (is) surely strong

Verse 13

إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed He
هُوَhuwaHe
يُبْدِئُyub'di-uoriginates
وَيُعِيدُwayuʿīduand repeats

Translation

Indeed He He originates and repeats

Verse 14

وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلْغَفُورُl-ghafūru(is) the Oft-Forgiving
ٱلْوَدُودُl-wadūduthe Most Loving

Translation

And He (is) the Oft-Forgiving the Most Loving

Verse 15

ذُوdhūOwner (of)
ٱلْعَرْشِl-ʿarshithe Throne
ٱلْمَجِيدُl-majīduthe Glorious

Translation

Owner (of) the Throne the Glorious

Verse 16

فَعَّالٌۭfaʿʿālunDoer
لِّمَاlimāof what
يُرِيدُyurīduHe intends

Translation

Doer of what He intends

Verse 17

هَلْhalHas
أَتَىٰكَatākacome to you
حَدِيثُḥadīthu(the) story
ٱلْجُنُودِl-junūdi(of) the hosts

Translation

Has come to you (the) story (of) the hosts

Verse 18

فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
وَثَمُودَwathamūdaand Thamud

Translation

Firaun and Thamud

Verse 19

بَلِbaliNay
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieve
فِىfī(are) in
تَكْذِيبٍۢtakdhībindenial

Translation

Nay Those who disbelieve (are) in denial

Verse 20

وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuBut Allah
مِنminfrom
وَرَآئِهِمwarāihimbehind them
مُّحِيطٌۢmuḥīṭunencompasses

Translation

But Allah from behind them encompasses

Verse 21

بَلْbalNay
هُوَhuwaIt
قُرْءَانٌۭqur'ānun(is) a Quran
مَّجِيدٌۭmajīdunGlorious

Translation

Nay It (is) a Quran Glorious

Verse 22

فِىfīIn
لَوْحٍۢlawḥina Tablet
مَّحْفُوظٍۭmaḥfūẓinGuarded

Translation

In a Tablet Guarded
